FOOD, BEVERAGE + HOSPITALITY The design of restaurants at CCS follows an architectural process of synthesizing diverse ideas, experiences and inspiration. Our common goal has been to create a sense of place ‌ instant landmarks that are new, innovative, and magnetic. Our track record includes some of the most dynamic, enduring, and successful restaurants in the country. Aside from the practical matters of food and drink, we understand that successful restaurants are about the public acts of seeing, meeting, and experiencing. Our design result is not only visual, but truly physical—a confluence of aesthetics, acoustics, activity, cuisine, service, and people. As highly experienced restaurant architects, we create projects that integrate and express the design concept throughout the project. A sense of excitement, youth, and enthusiasm permeates both our design approach and our results.
RESIDENTIAL CCS residential projects, both single and multi-family, are subtly influenced by the wide diversity of project commission undertaken by the studio. CCS residences focus on the notions of calm, retreat, intimacy, and the personal expression of their owners. The commission to design a home is special in architecture. Our residential architecture explores contemporary ways to express clients’ visions while meeting lifestyle requirements through a process of creative collaboration. Whether urban, rural or in between, our projects focus on establishing site-specific solutions that resolve the architectural fundamentals of space, light, form and purpose.
COMMERCIAL + INSTITUTIONAL CCS commercial projects have developed from the ability to solve difficult architectural problems grounded in economics with maximum design effect. A hallmark has been the creation of unique architectural identity through innovation and expression of the client’s requirements. Because CCS has ongoing commissions in a wide range of building types, our commercial architecture tends to benefit from this amalgam of ideas in the studio.

TAAWON COMMERCIAL CENTER | Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Building Area: 80,000 SF Project Type: Mixed Use Commercial Status: Completion Anticipated in 2016 Taawan Commercial Center consists of a lifestyle center and public park with approximately 36 restaurant and retail spaces, on a 100,000 SF site in the Taawan district of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Designed around primarily food and beverage tenants, outdoor seating and a landscaped plaza with reflecting pool, the site plan proposes a rare pedestrian gathering space in a predominantly car-based neighborhood. Upper level terraces and shade structures combine with double-height interiors to engage both the public thoroughfares and the landscape within.
MOHAMADIA | Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Building Area: 31,000 SF Project Type: Mixed Use Commercial Status: Completed 2014 Conceived as an architecturally striking mixed use commercial center, this building also provided the shell for a multistory flagship location of the Javatime coffee shop. The building’s form is comprised of a floating mass with multi-colored glass façade, the main building shape maximizes lot square footage and street exposure, while the ground floor plinth cuts away to allow vehicle access and create a visually receding view from the street.
SHOHADA | Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Building Area: 22,000 SF Project Type: Mixed Use Commercial Status: Completion Anticipated in 2018 Shohada is a 22,000SF mixed use commercial building, designed on a juncture of an elevated railroad, which is still underconstruction, as well as two busy thoroughfares. The site is an active neighborhood of offices, residences, stores, and a University not too far away. Using the vibrant characteristics of the site as a hint to morph Shohada’s form, CCS realized that the project can become a hub for commerce and a node for interactions. By faceting and cutting to create semi-separate connected buildings, Shohada if a multi-tenant complex that provides exposure for all tenants as well as accommodate various types of retail.
SULAYMANIYAH | Riyadh, Saudi Arabia Building Area: 15,000 SF Project Type: Restaurant Status: Completion Anticipated in 2018 Sulaymaniyah began design in May 2016, a 15,000 SF program dedicated to serve beverages, coffee, and light meals. CCS Architecture’s challenge when spaceplanning lied upon the understanding of cultural constraints in Saudi Arabia, where single customers and married couples or families should be separated. CCS created two “wings” where both groups of customers can comfortably enjoy their time while withstanding disobeying their cultural customs, the (north)west wing is dedicated to families and the (south)east wing is spaces for single men. The connection between the two wings on the ground floor is not pass-able and is where the ordering counter is built in place. Roof terrace on third floor is used by men while the enclosed space on the same level can be shared by families. Sulaymaniyah was designed based on the city’s zoning codes and the need to provide interest and sense of place. Elevating the building to two levels above ground provides abundant amount of space for all groups and exciting little moments.
