midway TORONTO, ONTARIO
The proposed mixed-use complex aims to create a space that wanes the fast-paced flow of downtown Toronto, in transition to the more tranquil, leisurely neighbourhood of City Place. A central plaza is designed as the major transitional space, reinforced by the program, materiality, and form of the buildings on either side. Though the complex is split into two buildings, each programmatically addressing its adjacent condition, all spaces are connected with horizontal elements repetitively, defining the complex as a unified whole.

jitterbug: reactors INSTALLATION
An investigation of organic form and interactive architecture; a play between kinetics and the static in reaction to the environment. Thin acrylic components are thermoformed into hexagonal modules, creating a lightweight, airy scaffold. Three jitterbugs, inspired by Buckminster Fuller, mount onto the structure. A lever system pierces through, controlling the movement of the jitterbugs. In a coordinated act, the installation lyrically twirls and blossoms in welcome, then softly retracts into its dormant state.

new cambridge rowing club CAMBRIDGE, ONTARIO
Man and nature are two dominant, opposing forces present on the site of the Cambridge Rowing Club. In response to the site conditions, the proposed re-design of the rowing club conceives the building as a transitional path between the urban city and nature, and celebrates the act of rowing as a vessel of this experience. The key component to the design is the north-south path that penetrates through both ends of the building, enhancing the transitional experience through a materiality shift and sight lines.

house for an artist CAMBRIDGE, ONTARIO
This residential house is designed as a permanent living and working space for an ink-wash bamboo painter and collector. The design embraces two concepts: connection of the interior with the exterior and functionality - the house itself promoting inspiration in the artist. Materiality, form, and program establish axes which in turn direct circulation, creating spatial experiences that reflect the design concepts.

RIGHT: THE ‘ONE’ TABLE
23
This table was designed for the 2013 MUJI Competition. It is founded on the concept of bridging traditional lifestyles associated with group oriented values with the individualistic habits of our modern times. The design allows the coffee table to transform into a dining table seating up to 6 people, accommodating the social activites of both families and individuals.
