You can help build hope.
Facing a global problem on a local level.
Donors and volunteers are the lifeblood of CDHfH, as our modest homes are built with generously donated labor, money and materials. Thanks to these wonderful organizations and individuals, we are able to stretch every donated dollar twice as far.
According to census data, 23% of Albany residents are below the federal poverty line. Nearly 25,000 local households can’t afford rent because they have to pay over 30% of their income on housing.
CDHfH works closely with companies/organizations to determine the best sponsorship path. We respectfully offer three house sponsorship levels – each including various recognition, exposure and co-branding opportunities to benefit your company/organization.
Transforming neighborhoods in the Capital District and building LEED certified environmentally friendly homes.
Since 1988, CDHfH has made a dent in the vicious cycle of workingclass poverty by enabling families to transition from renting to home ownership. It is well documented that this shift benefits the individual families, as well as the community at large. Decent, affordable, owner-occupied housing is the flagship of a healthy, economically vibrant and sustainable community.

The mission of Capital District Habitat for Humanity is to build simple, decent and affordable homes for deserving, lower-income families in need. Habitat for Humanity International was founded in 1976. Since its inception, the organization and its 1,500+ affiliates have built or rehabilitated more than 400,000 houses in over 3,000 communities around the world for families in need. Capital District Habitat for Humanity (CDHfH) is the local affiliate, serving families in Albany and Southern Saratoga counties. As a non-profit, ecumenical Christian organization, CDHfH is dedicated to eliminating sub-standard housing – making adequate, affordable housing a matter of conscience and action.
Helping families in our community.
Restoring hope through the ReStore.
CDHfH sells the homes it builds – with an interest-free mortgage – to qualified families who meet a set of criteria.
The ReStore is CDHfH’s largest fundraiser, and, after the build site, our largest volunteer need. The ReStore accepts new and gently used donations of building materials, appliances, fixtures and more, and then resells them to the public at a reduced price. All proceeds benefit CDHfH’s affordable housing program.
