Q. Tell us a little about your journey and how you got to where you are today?

A. Lots of work and patience is the short answer! A longer answer: I have a ton of passions. The saxophone came as a surprise in high school, as I’d always thought I’d be a drummer. I also discovered a passion as a songwriter. I never thought I’d write hit songs. Dedication to my art and practicing my behind-off is how I got where I am today!! And there were many, many people and organizations that helped me along the way.

Q. Who are some of your jazz influencers that inspired you in your career?

A. I have been inspired by many artists including Jazz. John Coltrane was one of the first. As well as Charlie Parker and Grover Washington Jr. As a songwriter, I am inspired by many. Including Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson.

Q. Let’s talk about your single “Dance Again” and the motivation behind the song?

A. Dance Again’ was inspired by my love for contemporary Latin music. I’ve been touring many places, including Mazatlán, Mexico, and Guadalajara, among other places. I wanted to create a dance feel with a hip Latin beat to get people moving. The result is “Dance Again”

Q. Can you give us more details about your tour and what the fans can expect?

A. This year will be one of my busiest

tours coming after the pandemic Lockdown. I will be touring New York, Chicago, Virginia, Atlanta, San Francisco, Orlando, Lake Arbor, Houston, and many of the major cities across America. I’ll also be headlining the Mazatlán Jazz Festival in Mexico this year. It will be a fun year for sure!

Q. What is your greatest accomplishment?

A. My greatest accomplishment is my daughter Trinity!

Q. Can you give us more details on your book and your book club?

A. With Joyner Book Club, I hope to introduce readers to new works of literature, bring together writers and readers, and uncover incredible stories that may not be featured on all billboards! While also keeping readers informed of current events in the reader community. Additionally, readers will be the first to know when my own books are released. I’m thrilled that my book club is also establishing a community of independent authors to assist one another in publishing and marketing books! Practical steps to publishing your own stories, poems, and other works of literature!

Q. If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would it be?

A. I would love to perform at Times Square! Some might not know that I spent a lot of time growing up in New York. I think performing there would be fun!

Q. Are you working on any new projects or upcoming events?

A. My new single “Say What” is expected to go to radio nationwide. And I’ll be releasing the second episode to my novel, “Zarya” this summer!
