A. My name is Timeekah Murphy everyone calls me Murph and I am the CEO and designer of the brand Alani Taylor.

Q. What made you want to pursue a career as a fashion designer?

A.I was in the Army and my last duty stationed which was Fort Hood, TX everyone looked and dressed the same. I didn’t want to be one of those people, so I started teaching myself to sew to be able to make clothes for myself.

Q. How do you keep up with the fashion trend?

A. I don’t. I stay in my own zone. I don’t look at fashion trends because I have my own style. My goal is to be the trend not follow it.

A. Designing for Beyonce and becoming a AT&T Black Future Maker.

A. Good and bad. It opened a few doors for me, but it wasn’t my best experience. It wasn’t Alani Taylor. I came into fashion to make my daughter’s name and brand value not someone else’s.

Q. What has been your biggest challenge you’ve had so far in your career?

A. Being Black, Being a Woman, and Being a Lesbian Black Woman.

Q. If you can go anywhere in the world, where would you go?

A. I would go back to Paris. The fashion in Paris is insane. I would learn so much there as a designer.

A. Currently I’m working on my 2023 Fall/Winter collection and opening up my creative space and fashion production house in Atlanta called “The Lab”. We are expecting to be done and open first week of August.
