Q. Tell everyone who you are and what you do.
A. Hello, I’m Markevia Mincey. I am a wife, a mother, an occupational therapist, children’s book author and philanthropist alongside my husband!
Q. How would you define motherhood in your own words?
A. Motherhood means to me being blessed with the opportunity to birth a child into this world and lead, guide, care and sacrifice for that child.
Q. Being a mother of 3 what has been the hardest period of motherhood for you and how did you deal with it?
A. The hardest part of motherhood for me was right after birth with all of my children. It’s an adjustment. Each additional adjustment was different. I was initially scared and unsure of how well I would do but I had no choice but to get over it and take care of my blessings! I’m very thankful for the support of my husband.
Q. Let’s talk about your children book and the motivation behind the book.
A. The Mincey Kidz Adventures is about experiences my children have encountered. My children and I talk a lot, so I decided to use some of their experiences to show other children that may have experienced a similar situation that they are not the only one.
Q. What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned being a mother?
A. The most important lesson I’ve learned by becoming a mother is… there are so many but I truly have had to understand my priorities, patience and how important it is to have a support system.
Q. Let’s talk about “Kumfee Kush” clothing line and how it got started?
A. Kumfee Kush Clothing was created by my husband and I in 2018. I remembered coming home from work one day saying I want to leave something to our children. I want it to be something that they can continue to grow and keep the Mincey legacy flowing. So, I said let’s start with a clothing line. We started brainstorming and that’s the name that stuck. The name can be used for multiple products. Our goal is to be able to take the brand into multiple areas outside of clothing such as, jewelry, cosmetics and furniture etc.
Q. What is one thing you want to leave behind for your family?
A. Outside of tangible assets we want to make sure we leave our children with a sense of self awareness, honor, respect and to know being a good person can take you a long way in life!
Q. If you had to choose one parenting mantra for yourself, what would it be?
A. “Every day is a new day to try again.” “No one is perfect and has all these answers!” It’s hard to choose just one.
Q. Are you working on any new projects for 2022?
A. Actually, yes. I have some new stories to add to the Mincey Kidz Adventures- Hanging Out with My Dad, New Student Jitters, and My Grandma’s the Coach. I’m also working with my husband on the release of his new movie titled 13th and Pine which will be out this year.
