ASSUP BUDDIES I GOT ANOTHER NEWSLETTER FOR YA’LL! So my first few newsletters had a very similar word format to one another, and then last month, I decided to do only pictures; well, for this month, I decided to combine the two! I felt that the first two newsletters had too small of pictures and of course, I can’t have only pictures. This newsletter has bigger pictures but the same amount of information as before. Like I said previously, I have no rules or limits for designing these newsletters. I like to figure out what works or doesn’t work for each month and try to improve for the next one! I can tell from your guy’s response whenever I post it on Facebook, so don’t be afraid to give it a like when you see it! ;) Love,
Cecilia Nguyen

past events firecard making
In the afternoon of July 2, Foutain Valley KIWIN’S gathered at Plavan Park to create cards for our firefighters. To show our gratitude and appreciation, members filled the cards up with multiple thank you’s and puns. There were a variety of different papers and markers so members were able to make the best-looking cards out there! The cards will be given to our local fire station.
bolsa chica
In the morning of July 15 at 9 AM, Fountain Valley KIWIN’S gathered at our ICONIC Bolsa Chica event! Members dug out weeds, planted new crops, and watered plants. Not only that, we were also joined by another club from our school: Fountain Valley Sealeaf! Being an environment-based club, Bolsa Chica was the perfect event. It was nice to help out our fellow Sealeafers all while helping the planet.

safety day
Bring your hats and helmets! FV KIWIN’S were being safe at this event! On July 20 from 10 AM2 PM, members volunteered at Sigler Park in Westminster, to help spread safety awareness to children and give thanks to our local police officers, firefighters, and ambulance team. Volunteers were also in charge of the barbeque and field area, serving food and playing with the demos.
concerts in the park
Hear the sound of music?? That’s Concerts in the Park making its annual comeback! On this Thursday afternoon, Fountain Valley KIWIN’S were excited to volunteer at this community event once again. Taking place at Miles Square Park from 3 PM-9 PM, members were in charge of selling raffle tickets to the concert-goers. However, at the beginning and end of the shift, volunteers also set up and cleaned up the event, helping with chairs and tables.
dog chew toy
BOWOW! Fountain Valley KIWIN’S was excited to have yet another doggo event! On July 28 we not only had the dog chew toy event, but we had it with our friends from Marina KIWIN’S! Members gathered at Plavan Park and cut up old t-shirts to create dog chew toys. They will then be distributed to a local dog shelter to help our fellow dogs in need.

sandwich making
On the afternoon of Saturday, July 29, FV KIWIN’S gathered at Plavan Park to make sandwiches for the homeless. Members formed in a line system to make turkey, ham, and peanut butter & jelly sandwiches. The sandwiches were then put into plastic bags, where members placed hand-written notes on top. Notes were filled with fun and creative puns. The sandwiches will be given to a homeless shelter.
bonfire
On the sunny Sunday of July 30, Fountain Valley KIWIN’S had their annual bondfire. Potluck style, members either brought food or payed two dollars. There were multiple activities including Hug a Bear, Bean Boozled, sand castle building, and volleyball! As always, board members were lined up to get water-ballooned. Selling 2 for $1 or $5 for the whole board, members had fun getting their board wet!

food packing
08.25.16 | On Friday, August 25, Fountain Valley KIWIN’S will be trying out a new
event! Although not that different from our previous Stop Hunger or sandwich making events, this time we will be packaging rice, meat, and other foods to give out to local families in need just in time for the school year. The place and time are soon to be discussed, but we are excited to try something new!

member of the month
justina pham
Justina is one of the most extraordinary person I have ever met. She was one of the top people on board last year serving under Spring Committee. Not only is she one of the most kindest people I have ever met but, a strong leader. She shows compassion to every person she meets by laughing and smiling with others. Her presences lightens up every single member every event she goes to.
If you ever wanted to talk to someone about anything, Justina is the person you want to talk to. Once she is with her partner in crime, Sarah Nguyen (11th), there is nothing that can stop the both of them. Justina Pham deserves the award as Member of the Month and I can’t wait to see the things she accomplishes in the future. Calvin Tran 17-18 FV KIWIN’S Vice President
