Remembering AUDREY Audrey Ford Wiggins was born June 3, 1934 in Alexandria, Louisiana to the late Calvin Ford, Sr. and Mamie McIntosh Ford. She was one of fourteen children born to this union. On February 12, 1952 Audrey was united in holy matrimony to Rev. Hayward E. J. Wiggins who preceded her in death on August 8, 1997. To this union three children were born. This dedicated couple also reared two other children that they accepted as their own. Audrey accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and dedicated her life to Christian service. She was first lady of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church for 33 years, where she worked faithfully along side her husband. She was a Sunday School teacher, member of the Women’s Choir, and participated in the quilting group, designing and making quilts, lap pads and handkerchiefs as gifts for the sick and shut-in. She worked across the board with all the mission groups of the church. She was a member of the educational board, charged with the selection of scholarship recipients for college bound students. She was an excellent cook and her Sunday soul food dinners were epic. Many visiting pastors, close friends, neighbors and church members were blessed with the food she served at her table, as well as strangers that were in need of a meal. She had an open door kitchen. Audrey was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter and sister. She fostered many special mother-daughter relationships, readily mentored young people and was always available to offer her advice and wisdom. She will be remembered for her many acts of kindness, generosity, honesty, her warm heart and that beautiful, infectious smile. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Hayward E. J. Wiggins; her parents, Calvin and Mamie Ford; her son Hayward Rodrick Wiggins; her niece Iris Harris; seven (7) sisters: Leona Ford Celestine, Lillian “Chee Chee” Ford Merritt, Savannah Ford Edmonds, Dorothy Ford Merritt, Mary Ella Ford Davison, Merlie Mae Ford Stafford and Clydebee Ford Golden; five (5) brothers: Silton Ford, Roosevelt Ford, Leonard “Tootsie” Ford, Leroy Ford, Calvin “JC” Ford. Mrs. Audrey Ford Wiggins is survived by daughter, Pamela Wiggins Allen; son, Bruce Wiggins and wife Margaret; adopted son, Russell Wiggins, brother, John “V8” Ford and wife Ruth; daughter-inlaw, Nora Wiggins, grandchildren, Bruce Wiggins, Jr., Brandon Wiggins, Derek Beatty, Jonathan Allen, Rodnika Wiggins, Hayward Rodrick Wiggins, Jr., Albert Ray Wiggins and Terrence Wheaton Wiggins; and seventeen (17) great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Sisters-in-Law: Mary Ann Ford and Bertha Ford. Those with special relationships: Betty Farris Jones and Gwendolyn Climmons Johnson. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives and the most loyal and devoted friends.

“AMOTHER” Wonderful We had a wonderful mother, One who never really grew old;

We had a wonderful mother, And that’ s the way it will always be.

Her smile was made of sunshine, And her heart was solid gold;

But take heed, because She’s still keeping an eye on all of us,

Her eyes were as bright as shining stars,

So let’s make sure

And in her cheeks fair roses you see.

She will like what she sees.

From Bruce, Pam & Russell

Tribute to our GRANDMOTHER We had an angel here beside us, Sent to Earth to help and guide us, An angel always there for us Sent to love and care for us. She did the things that angels should: She taught us what was bad and good, She gave us hope when no one cared, She held our hand when we were scared, She cheered us up when we were down (She could make a smile from a frown), She doctored us when we were sick, And many another angel tricks. Today our angel earned her wings Her harp, halo and other things. But today we are lost and all alone For today God took our grandma home From Your Grandchildren & Great Grandchildren
