Preston Thomas Cook was born on July 25, 1931 in Chester, Texas to Joel Cook and Mineola Scott-Cook. Preston was the second child born from this blessed union. Preston accepted Christ at a young age and was baptized at Sunlight Baptist Church in Beaumont, Texas and was a faithful member and enjoyed going to church with his family. Preston united in holy matrimony with Faye Loyce Edwards in 1958 and they shared a glorious 61 years of marriage. To this union 3 children were born Terence, David, and Letitia. Preston was a God-fearing husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend. Preston and Faye later joined Christian Faith Missionary Church, where he was Chairman of the Deacon Board. He served in the Military Armed Forces as an Army Sergeant and served one tour in the Korean War as a tank operator. Although he was known as the self-employed Master Plumber, he was a member of numerous prestigious organizations which includes Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity (Lifetime Member), and North Side Mason Grand Lodge No. 214. Preston loved his family, and he believed in a hard day’s work, but when he was not working he loved road trips, cooking, telling jokes and visiting different places in the city with his wife Faye. They were constant companions in this journey we call life. On October 7, 2020, Preston answered the call to be with the Lord and Savior and claimed his space in His mansion. Preceding him in death are his wife Faye Edwards Cook; parents Joel and Mineola Cook; brothers Joe Morris Cook Sr., Raymond Cook and sisters Irma Jean Rogers and Janice Cook. Those left to celebrate his life and remember his love are: his sons Terence Thomas Cook (Debra), David Preston Cook; daughter Letitia-Cook Crayton (Shaun); his brother Kenneth Cook (Wendy); grandchildren, Terence “TJ” Cook Jr., TaShauna Cook-Sam (John), Tyree Cook, Juanita Cook, Preston Cook II, Ruby Cook, David Cook Jr., Charles Braziel, David Cook III, Ellen Cook, Davianna Cook, Derrick Crayton (Kalynda), DeAndre Crayton, Dante Crayton, and Deja Crayton; 14 great grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A life will lived is a legacy of joy and pride and pleasure, a living, lasting memory our grateful heart’s will treasure. Love your son, David
The fact that you’re no longer here will always cause me pain But you’re forever in my heart until we meet again, Love your son, Terry
DAD,
I am going to miss spending time with you and miss your stories and jokes you told like it was the first time telling us. You really accomplished a lot in your lifetime, you didn’t really brag about anything you just did what needed to be done. I am going to miss you and mom but I will be comforted by all of the good memories you left us with. Love, Tisha
PAPA, Heaven has received another angel The night sky another star Although you’re no longer here I know you’re never far I’ll always remember that special smile, that caring heart, that warm embrace, I’ll always remember you because there’ll never be another one to take your place I love you papa with all my heart, it looks like for now we have to part. Your loving granddaughter, Deja
God knew I needed you when He made me. I’m forever grateful for all of the love, words and guidance you have given me. Papa you were a beacon for not only me as a child into adulthood but also one for my husband and children. Papa I never imagined my life without you or Mama in it (as kiddie as that may sound) but this is my new norm and things are a little foggy for me right now. I’m going to keep all the values and lessons you taught and showed me in my heart and continue to succeed in life. I pray one day the road will be clear. I look forward to seeing you and Mama’s smiling faces. Until we meet again. Love, TaShauna, Big John, Lil John, Jayse (Big Man), Princess and Jonah
TO MY BIG BROTHER OUR LAST CONVERSATIONS
Just the Two of Us During the last year of your life, we laughed and talked about the past, present, and future. It covered life’s ups and downs as well as memories about all of our long since departed family members. However, you always made the link between the past and present as a reference point for moving into the future – just a great positive Thinker. You shared years of wisdom with me that is buried deep within my soul. But what is most important, we got to really know one another in ways not previously experienced, and for that I am eternally grateful. You were the cornerstone to our family; that is, the sacrifices you made and risks you took paved a pathway for everyone to pursue their Life Goal. Your relationship with Daddy provided you opportunities to have a leadership role in the Construction Industry that served all of us very well. Your relationship with Mama was incredibly special in so many ways and levels; also, you were her favorite and we all understood. Irma Jean and you were like twins so much that everyone knew both of you always agreed on solutions to our family challenges. You enabled Joe Morris (aka Honey) to start his own business as he watched the development of Cook Plumbing Company. Janice Marie learned from you how to support Mama on a daily basis. Well, Raymond Lee learned from you how to navigate the Manufacturing Industry by your experiences in the Steel Mill Industry along with working with you into the late hours completing plumbing jobs. Lastly, I – Kenneth Ray - learned from you how to successfully plot a route through the College Environment. As I said repeatedly during our last conversations, you were the Engine that made things happen for our family. It was your steadfast determination, endless persistence, unparalleled discipline, and selfless devotion to our family. Specifically, when I moved to Houston, you introduced me to your friends as The Caboose. So, from The Caboose to The Engine, I say until we all meet again – I Love You. Kenneth
FAREWELL FROM TERENCE You meant so much..... You meant so much to not only me but to the whole family. You were special to all of us and that’s no lie, you brightened my darkest day with your jokes, either if I wanted to hear them or not. I will always remember your smile, your caring heart, the long stories in the work van on the way to school, and that loud... “HEY TJ” every time you greeted me. You will be truly missed, I just want to say thank you for being there and just want you to know, you meant so much... Love, TJ

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS We wish to express our sincere appreciation and gratitude for generosity shown by our friends and extended family during this time of bereavement. Your deeds, comforting words and prayers have been a source of strength to us during this difficult time. May God comfort and be with you as you continue to remember a woman who was so very special to so many. Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. John 14:1-2
