Bonjour, lovies! Those French classes I took in school are finally paying off, because this issue is jam-packed with the destination. France is the word, and the complete inspiration for this issue. In every issue this year, we promised we’d take you to a new destination. First it was Greece, then Italy, and now France.

The allure of Paris is so strong — the fashion, the passion, the beauty. All the cities’ châteaus, the culture and history of them. Although, it’s the lavender fields in Provence, the whisper of romance that surrounds the city, that is the true star of this issue. Christophe Serrano did such a magnificent job, capturing the emotion, heart, and beauty of this moment in the lavender fields that we simply knew it was meant for the cover.

This is a love letter to France. Throughout these pages you’re going to see jawdropping wedding inspiration from different cities in France (and more from the lavender fields) and an elopement in Paris that emulated quiet luxury.

But a big part of this issue was capturing the ambiance, the allure, the essence of it, and none of that would’ve been made possible without the talent and dedication of Branson Maxwell. Branson was the photographer and videographer behind this issue’s cover reveal and campaign, and he truly made our vision come to life and captured it all beautifully. So a huge-shout out to the man behind the lens.

Paris is the city of lights, but exudes such fine elegance, glamour, fashion and, of course, love, that it’s the perfect city to elope, host a wedding, or just take a photoshoot with the love of your life.

This photoshoot was one of divine beauty, showcasing a design from dress designer, Héloïse, who actually modeled herself with her boyfriend, Kenzo. The glitter on the champagne-colored evening gown was the perfect compliment to Paris, the Louvre, and Jardin des Tuileries.

There’s nothing quite like Paris at night, so as the sun went down, it was off to Place De La Concorde. It was important they include the Eiffel Tower, which they did by taking photographs on Pont Alexandre.

A Provençal Lavender Cake

Tamas was selected to be part of the creative team behind a Provence inspired wedding shoot, photographed by Jennifer Jane Photography, and it gave her the opportunity to create a lavender masterpiece. Taking her experience, Tamas now shares her insights and cake design ideas.

Cake flavor and filling combinations are endless, but Tamas explains for this type of cake, “since lavender is safe to consume, why not consider it as a cake flavor? Personally, I would opt for a sponge cake infused with lavender tea, blended with lavender syrup, and topped with a lavender Swiss meringue buttercream that boasts a smooth texture and a well-balanced level of sweetness.”

In terms of cake decor, Tamas favors the rustic style because it “has the potential to exude elegance and sophistication. As a professional in the field, I take into account all the elements required to create the perfect cake for my clients. To ensure the cake withstands the Provençal climate, such as during a summer wedding when the cake is displayed outside, I would recommend a ‘fully-iced cake’ with a white chocolate ganache coating and sugar paste icing.

“This approach properly seals the cake, making it the best option, and rules out the possibility of using a naked or seminaked cake or a buttercream coating.

For me, achieving clean and crisp edges and an overall neat appearance of the icing is absolutely essential as it elevates the cake to another level. In addition, I tend to favor simpler designs that prominently feature lavender sprigs as the focal point, with edible watercolor hand-painted in the background to provide a visually appealing backdrop.”

If you picked up on Tamas’ mention of lavender sprigs, then you might be wondering if it is advisable to include them on the cake, and where. She notes, “I believe that nature is the ultimate designer and a tremendous source of inspiration for me. I frequently draw on natural elements such as flowers and fruit or try to replicate them in my cake designs to create a genuine, natural atmosphere. Depending on my mood at the time of designing the cake, I may choose to incorporate either fresh or handcrafted lavender flowers, and I always make sure to find the perfect spot on the cake to display them once I've achieved the desired effect.“

Provence, located in the South of France, is where you can find exquisite beauty in the lavender fields. A true sight to behold in the summer, Provence’s lavender fields are a romantic and beautiful place to take a stroll and make memories with the one you love, and, in the case of this couple share a glass of Provençal Rosé.

This editorial boasted elegance and timelessness with the sunset setting and the couple, Anne and James, modeling the whimsical attitude that love so often brings to life. Anne was fashion-forward in a soft blue blouse and skirt combination, while James went for a more dashing look in a white button-down shirt and khaki trousers that went perfectly with Anne’s ensemble.

Set on the sprawling estate of the Huntington Botanical Gardens, the Spring 2024 Bridal Collection evokes timeless American Regality under the California sun. An ode to the romance of an English Garden, this season is a harmonious blend of nature, femininity, and color. The collection has Victorian influences, rich in floral laces with 3dimensional wildflowers, luxurious textures, and varying hemlines.

The season’s star, the Garden Rose whimsically dances over exaggerated hemlines, sculpted corsetry, and full tulle skirts. Bonjour, France

Designed for a summer wedding soirée hosted close to the lavender fields in France, this invitation welcomes you to embark on a journey to the Château du Bois in Provence. Keeping the theme and location in mind, the couple selected a purple color palette with rich lavender tones visible across every element.

Every aspect of their suite was meticulously crafted, incorporating the environment and sprigs of lavender, to bring the feeling of the lavender fields to the invitees. This approach is designed to evoke feelings of excitement and anticipation among their cherished guests. With a formal and colorful dress code, it was Simon and Vivian’s hope for everyone to have a great time at their destination wedding.

Pre-wedding Shoot

The objective was a pre-wedding photoshoot that captured memories of the soon-to-be-weds around Paris. The bride wanted to make sure she had plenty of photos in dresses other than just her wedding dress (of which she knew there would be plenty). The first dress was a stunning golden, strapless, mermaid dress they knew would be perfect for photos by the Eiffel Tower at Trocadero platform and stairs. The second dress, another stunning mermaid dress, but this one red with a thigh-high slit. It’s nearly impossible to decide which dress stole the show, but as it turned out the golden dress worked so well with the scenery that it might have just won the day. In particular, it was ideal by the Golden Gate, matching the color palette of the landscape perfectly, and the Louvre with the stark contrast between the glass and metal background.

“My fiancée, she’s set on 100 guests and that’s like fine, but I always dreamed of having an elaborate, six or eight-tiered cake that WOWS at the reception. Now what?” -Samantha

Over-the-top, show-stopping wedding cakes are the best! Seriously, I still can’t get over the cake from the movie “Twilight: Breaking Dawn, Part 1”. The cake Alice chose for Bella and Edward’s wedding was what dreams are made of. Absolutely not too much, by the way. However, if you don’t have the guest count to serve that many servings to, but still want a large cake, there’s a solution: a dummy cake.

Dummy cakes are genius! Plus, the entire cake doesn’t need to be faux, so you and your guests can still enjoy the masterpiece. You have the option to have your baker make some layers faux layers and others made as real layers. That way, you don’t have to budget for two cakes, and your guests can still eat the cake everyone’s talking about (because everyone will be talking about it, in a totally good way, of course!). Although, if you’re looking for the cake to be all faux layers and fear your guests knowing your dirty little secret, here goes the best part… they literally never need to know. While the cake cutting is happening and everyone has all eyes on you and your fiancée, behind the scenes your “real” cake, perhaps a sheet cake, will be cut for your guests to enjoy their pieces.

Pro Tip: You should check with your baker if they have restrictions for certain designs or things they might do for a dummy cake.

This February wedding was all about the classic vibes while throwing in some traditional and contemporary elements. The venue’s unique, historic features spoke for themselves, keeping with a classic and minimalist décor. The color palette was a deep olive, sage green, gold and blush.

Favorite Memory

“The entire day was an absolute dream and I loved every moment! If I had to choose just one, I would have to say that walking down the aisle and seeing Mark, and all of our family and friends there to support us was the most special a memorable part for me.”

Advice to Other Couples

“It is completely fine to use social media for ideas and to help you find your own style. Just remember to give yourself grace if the viral ideas you are finding are completely out of your budget or if you aren’t someone who creates or has the time for the DIY ideas. Your wedding is going to be beautiful and unique to you no matter what!”

For the flowers, they opted for a variety of eucalyptus and Italian Ruscus with blush pink roses, and Playa Blanca roses.

For dessert, the cake was red velvet with cream cheese frosting. They also offered guests donuts in a variety of flavors: chocolate, vanilla, maple with nuts/almonds, and maple with bacon.

For a little musical inspiration, the bride walked down the aisle to a pianist playing Cannon in D x Here Comes the Sun; the couple entered their reception with Fantasy by Mariah Carey, and they shared a first dance to Ray LaMontagne’s You are the Best Thing.

If you’ve always dreamed of getting married in the City of Light, the Château de Villette is near Paris, a mere fortyminute drive from Avenue des Champs-Élysées. Part of the Heritage Collection, this château is an exquisite historical landmark. As soon as you walk through the doors of the remarkable venue, you can practically feel the history, the luxury and affluent culture that walked through the doors decades ago.

In fact, Dan Brown stayed in this very château when writing the “Da Vinci Code” and found it to be a great source of inspiration for the novel. Later, it was even used as a filming location for the movie adaptation.

Best known for its olive oils and wines, the Château d'Estoublon is located in the heart of Provence. Unlike anything you’ve probably ever seen, this château offers an option to privatize the premises. For however long you desire, for a wedding weekend and then your honeymoon after you send your guests home, or even just for an anniversary, the 18th-century castle is all yours. You can become the sole owner of the Château d'Estoublon. With a welcoming and Provençal feel, the staying at the château is a true experience.

Part of the Maisons & Hôtels Sibuet, La Bastide de Marie is located in Provence (home to the Lavender Fields in the summer). This 18th-century hotel is situated in the heart of the Luberon Regional Park.

For your wedding, you have multiple locations in the hotel to choose from, one of which is in the middle of the vineyard. Vineyard weddings have always been a popular choice, but one in France is a true beauty and one-of-a-kind experience. When Anne Barge created the line, she drew inspiration from the timeless allure of femininity and refinement. Styling Your Colored Wedding Dress

We remember it so well… one of the fi dresses that stopped us in our tracks. It was Sottero & Midgley’s Zander. Indeed, brides have long sought out dresses that weren’t the traditional white (or ivory), but this dress was different. The stunning lace motifs, endless tulle, and plunging neckline, how could we not fall in love with it? It was also one of the first times we saw a black dress actually resemble a wedding dress. This dress wasn’t just any dress dyed black, it was intentionally designed and styled to be a bridal gown, a show-stopper. Just look at the hemline of the tulle ballgown skirt (trimmed in horsehair BTW !).

Since that dress, we have seen an upward trend in the number of colored dresses included in most designers’ collections. Interestingly, though, with an endless color palette, black is as popular as ever and remains very trendy right now with “anti-bride” and “dark fairytale” weddings currently trending, according to Maggie Sottero Designs (“MSD”). “Especially black floral like Watson by Maggie Sottero.” However some of their most popular colorful gowns include Norvina by Sottero and Midgley (black lace), Juniper by Sottero and Midgley (French blue), and Scarlet by Maggie Sottero (deep red). “Although, [their] favorite black gowns include Alexandria by Rebecca Ingram, Penny by Maggie Sottero, and Zander by Sottero & Midgley.” It’s apparent that with such

with such a wide selection of colored wedding dresses in different silhouettes, they know a thing or two about styling them. So it only makes sense that their design team give you some advice on styling your colored wedding dress.

So what do they have to say? MSD tells us, “First, brides should consider color palette; a colorful gown should enhance and harmonize with the bride's skin tone. Second, the bride should strike a balance with accessories, especially with the bouquet. Coordinate the colors of the flowers with the dress and select flowers that complement and enhance the dress without overpowering it.”

And, as for accessories, they’ve got you covered, too! “When wearing a colorful wedding dress, accessories depend on the overall style of the gown. For example, Aspen by Sottero & Midgley comes in all black or all ice pink with a strapless scoop neckline, which works well with bold or chunky jewelry. Nerida

by Sottero & Midgley, a gown with an all-over pink fl oral pattern, works with simple accessories that are complementary,” MSD explains, “Ultimately, the goal is to create a cohesive and balanced ensemble where the dress remains the focal point. Of course, the most important suggestion is to pick an accessory that makes you feel the most confident and beautiful [from head to toe]!”

For veils, the same advice applies, so “brides should choose a simple and understated veil design. A sheer tulle veil or a single-layered veil with minimal embellishments can complement the dress without overwhelming it.” And about those shoes, you’ll definitely want to remember the number one rule of comfort, but also allow them to “coordinate well with the overall theme and style of their wedding! Consider selecting shoes that complement or accentuate the dress color, such as metallics, neutrals, or even bold contrasting colors,” MSD suggests. “Matching the shoe color to a detail or accent color in the dress can also create a cohesive look.”

Choosing Your Wedding Scent

Scent memories are powerful, they evoke emotions and can transport you back in time unlike any other sensory experience. So for an occasion like a wedding it’s important that you find just the right fragrance. It is a special day, after all, you don’t want to smell just like you do every other day. And with so many options out there it’s easy to get confused or overwhelmed when deciding which is right for your wedding day. Luckily we partnered with ScentCrafters, a sister-run company

dedicated to customizing fragrances for everything you need to know when it comes to choosing your wedding day scent. Taylor, Co-Founder of ScentCrafters, also offered some recommendations you might be interested in for specific goals.

Let’s start with how far out you should start considering (or choosing) your fragrance, because when it comes to weddings we all know it’s all about the timeline. Taylor

recommends couples should start considering their options about two months out from the wedding day to ensure they have their perfect day-of fragrance well in advance of the big day. This is especially true if you decide you want a custom fragrance like one from ScentCrafters! “We have worked with couples in a shorter time frame, but the more wiggle room means less stress and we all know the approaching day is stressful enough,” she explains.

So what’s the first step? Taylor suggests you start with samples to figure out your fragrance palette. Ask yourself what few fragrances you currently like, then you need to figure out what you want to smell like on your wedding day. This applies whether or not you’re customizing your own, but if you are customizing your own, then you’ll have the assistance of their scent expert throughout these first steps.

Something to keep in mind is the intended overall feel of the wedding. Taylor notes, “Often, a wedding is planned around how the couple hopes to feel on the big day. So, it only makes sense that their scents match that vision. For example, a couple who gets married on a beach has a very different vision than a couple who gets married in a city ballroom. One might go for a light floral fragrance with a hint of tropical fruit where the other might want something that falls more in line with a floral musk fragrance.

“We recommend that the couple selects a fragrance that makes them feel like themselves, something that feels like their personality, but also keeps in mind what they would like to feel like on their special day. A scent can bring back a lot of memories, so it’s important that couples pick fragrances that they will want to smell for years to come to bring back the happy thoughts of the day.” (Scent memories… Told ya !)

So if you’re someone who loves bold and trendy, then Taylor says you should go for it, and we agree. “But, a scent is something intimate that truly is just for the individual. It's one of the few things on your wedding day that no one is looking at or having an opinion on, you should select whatever you think feels right for you.” And if you need a second opinion on the fragrance, you can never go wrong with asking your S.O.

Once you select your fragrance and you approach your wedding day, you may be wondering if there’s anything else you should

know (esp. when it comes to your wedding dress), so Taylor has offered some tips on wearing it best.

No. 1 Spray your fragrance on your neck and wrist. “If you’re particularly worried about personal odor, we recommend spraying the fragrance in the problem areas prior to putting your attire on. It’s not often that a fragrance will stain clothes, but it is an oil, so there is always a risk. Your wedding day is not a day for risk-taking.”

No. 2 “If you’re set on spraying the fragrance directly on your attire, but are concerned about the length it will linger, you may also choose to do a test spot on other fabric to test the longevity of the fragrance; all fragrances are different. If that test spot passes your deadline, you might then test it on the underside of the fabric to ensure it last the correct length of time for you prior to spraying it the day of.”

No. 3 “Some fragrances are going to have a slower evaporation rate than others, making them last longer. The fragrances that typically last the longest are called base notes. These are fragrances that evaporate off from the skin the slowest. A few common base fragrances are: vanilla, sandalwood, musk and amber. A fresh spritz is always a good option for freshening up in-between events and during dancing. Having a travel size of your fragrance makes any reapplication doable just about anywhere. We suggest having a trusty bridesmaid hold onto your travel size so if you ever feel ready for a quick spritz, you have easy access.”

And a special word to those who may get headaches from fragrances on occasion — your selection truly depends on what specific scent is giving you the headache. Taylor notes, “If a bride can narrow this down, the process offers more options. If you do not know what fragrance is triggering the headache, we suggest starting with a fragrance that does not have a specifically strong scent throw. Meaning you would still smell the fragrance, as well as your partner, but the scent would be less overpowering. We recommend that anyone is experiencing headaches from their fragrance add extra time to their fragrance purchasing timeline to make sure that the fragrance they select will not give them any discomfort on their special day, and there is extra time to adjust if any tweaks are needed.”

Now, on to the fun part — the recommendations! Here’s our roundup with Taylor regarding some specific suggestions:

Seasonal Weddings

“Typically di ff erent fragrances are more popular at different times of the year, so this may influence the decision of the couple. If a bride is looking to follow seasonal trends they can research what is popular for the upcoming season. A rule of thumb is that citrus or ocean notes trend in the summer months and as it gets colder heavier spiced or woodsy fragrances typically trend upward.”

Garden Weddings:

“A fragrance that has a good balance of freshness and floral would be a good fit for a garden wedding. There are many different options for fresh and floral that would fit any couples vision. Not fighting the freshness from the garden is key here.”

Beach Weddings

“Beach weddings offer a variety of options for the couple. With the fresh scent of the ocean and flowers in the air the scene is already set up with a great base. A couple may choose to stay on trend with the marine fragrance balanced with a light floral, they may choose to go with a stronger floral to feel more elegant or they may choose to select a fruity fragrance than reminds them of their tropical setting.”

Basing a Scent on Vacation Memories

“To evoke memories from a specific trip we would ask the bride to describe where they were in those countries and what core

memories they have there. To evoke a memory from their villa in Tuscany that had luscious rose gardens and was surrounded by vineyards would be a different fragrance than the seaside scents of Amalfi. The true way to capture a moment in a scent is to nail down what smells you associate with that core memory.”

Lavender is at the heart of this magazine issue, so what scents pair nicely with lavender?

“Lavender is a wonderful, calming scent that can be paired nicely with many fragrances. Some that are common are a vanilla-lavender combination, or a lemon-lavender combination. Our scent expert recommends the combination of leather, bergamot and lavender to try something new.”

This February wedding was black tie with a champagne, black and white color scheme. The florals were also a mix of all white and ivory with pops of greenery. The three tiered classic cake featured flavors like raspberry, chocolate, vanilla, and of course red velvet.

Is it your dream to have a destination wedding? Maybe a lovestruck sunset ceremony on the beach in Honolulu or an enchanting castle in Ireland or maybe a romantic wedding in the beautiful French countryside?

Obviously, there are positives and negatives to any destination wedding. On a positive note, it will be memorable!!! On the negative, it could be very expensive. If you are familiar with the destination, it may be a bit easier to plan, prepare and budget. But, let's say you're not familiar with it, but plan on doing it anyway. Where do you begin? Taking a look at the culture and local traditions might be a fun place to start. And because this whole issue is dedicated to France, let’s look at those.

1. You can say the wedding weekend concept started in France. It's tradition for couples to have two ceremonies over two days: a civil ceremony and a symbolic service.

2. During the symbolic service, the groom is escorted down the aisle by their mother, and at the alter the wedding party is swapped for "witnesses." The reception is referred to as the wedding meal, which can go on until dawn the next day.

3. The wedding meal is kicked off with a special dance between the bride and her father.

4. Champagne towers got their notoriety in France.

5. Wedding entertainers are commonplace.

6. Wedding desserts consist of macarons or profiteroles (think: cream puffs filled with vanilla cream). So it follows that with no wedding cake, the cutting of the cake and feeding each other is replaced with swapping bites of croquembouche (profiterole pyramids bound by caramel)

7. The wedding meal (which consists of plenty of food over the hours-long festivities) concludes with a late night soup served before guests leave in the morning.

8. Guests leave with special favors that might include local products, and most certainly a pouch of what is commonly referred to as Jordan almonds.

And remember regardless of where, when or how you get married, love is an international language and as long as you continue to dream, the romance never ends.

Bridal Flower Jewelry

B Black Tie

True to its name, this black tie affair was anything but intimate. This couple’s wedding exuded luxury, elegance, and was the epitome of timeless. Contrasting the strong black hues, the florals were white and blush. Every element was filled with their wedding flowers, which consisted of beautiful white roses, and candles. Even the venue’s staircase was covered in florals and candles met at the bottom, making it a picture-perfect location for their couples portraits.

For more elegance, the reception room had tall centerpieces that were statement-making. However, the dessert bar was the true star with all you can eat sweets from sundaes to a 4-tier traditional cake with white florals and their initial on the side of the cake. To add to the classic vibes, the bride made her appearance from an elegant white car.

And the fashion was not only black tie, but also next-level. The bride wore a sweetheart neckline with embroidered appliqués. And if that wasn’t enough, she had a detachable tulle skirt that took her from ceremony to reception. Meanwhile, her bridesmaids wore long black dresses and the groom and his groomsmen wore classic black tuxes complete with suspenders and bow ties.
