If you have flipped through our magazine before, you know that we love fashion (borderline obsessed tbh!), and if this is the first time you’re reading the magazine, well, now you know, too. Our love for fashion is why when we saw this cover we were drawn to it like a moth to flame. Just look at that dress — the bold floral prints and ballon sleeves are everything, and thanks to NYBFW we know bold prints aren’t going anywhere anytime soon, they’re trending once again. A huge shout-out to the talented photographer behind the cover and swoon-worthy session, Dee Olmstead Photography.
Florals certainly motivated this issue, as you’ll find floral wedding inspiration, two editorials with florals galore, one at The Olana and the other at the Grand America Hotel, plus dresses from designers that highlight floral prints on their designs, all in the pages to follow.
Destination weddings are more popular than ever this year, which is why last issue we took you to Greece, but in this issue we’re taking you Italy. The inspiration is endless: an authentic Italian wedding, WONÁ Concept’s Palermo Collection, Pronovias’ Renaissance Collection, multiple venue destination options to host your wedding, and opera gloves from Cornelia James because when we think Italy we think the Italian opera and fashion, of course.

This late summer wedding in Siena in central Italy’s Tuscany region embodied elegance with relaxed and authentic Italian vibes. The couple opted for sof tones of blush and white with olive green. Picking up their color palette, the flowers were blush and white English roses, olive branch leaves and eucalyptus. The couple also had a traditional Italian jazz quartet playing live at their reception!
Advice from the Bride
“Don’t sweat the small stuff, you’ll be too excited and really won’t notice it on the day! Stay present during the day, take a moment at various points of the day to soak it all in. If something doesn’t go as planned, it
“Driving back from the ceremony to the reception in an old traditional Fiat, it was a rare moment for just the two of us to be together that day. Also dancing with all our friends and family that night!”
The wedding cake was a traditional millefogile (1000 layer) cake — layers of pastry with a white chocolate and cream filling with fresh fruit on top.
The couple exchanged gifs with an emphasis on memories — a drawing of one of their engagement photos and a scrapbook of memories.

Take your vows seriously.
Don’t expect Hollywood’s version of romance — it doesn’t exist!
When angry or disappointed in your partner, try to remember how you felt about each other on your wedding day.
Wake up and say “Good morning, darling, I hope you have a wonderful day” and mean it.
Go to bed at night and say “Good night, darling, I hope you have pleasant dreams” and mean it.
The honeymoon doesn’t ever have to be over, if you know what I mean!! Pray for one another, pray together and pray out loud!
Don’t go to bed angry. If you fight before bed, let it go.
Watch what you say, you can’t take words back. Keep a sense of humor!!
Don’t try to change your spouse. Change yourself.
It’s not a competition. You are a team.
Don’t wake up angry.
Don’t call each other all day long, you’ll have nothing left to talk about.
Find common ground. You know where it is!
Learn each other’s “love language.” There’s a great book about it. (The 5 Love Languages Gary Chapman), and speak it fluently.
Share all duties and responsibilities — there are no more separate, specific duties for one and the other unless you both agree on them.
Don’t ask family or friends for marital advice — it only makes things worse.
Don’t assume.
Trust!
If you don’t like your spouse’s family or friends, still try to respect them and their relationship.
Dance in the kitchen.
Play in the rain!
Cook together, it’s a great time to talk. Avoid doing stressful errands together. Most of all accept the bad with the good, the hard with the easy, the strong with the weak, and the complicated with the simple, because true love conquers all.
“A millennial history, frangipani on the balconies and majestic century-old parks full of citrus orchards create the spirit of Palermo, the capital city of Sicily, that hides among natural amphitheatre of tropical gardens and ancient architecture. This city breathes with a mix of oriental and European cultures creating its own unique Italian mystery. Inspired with this magical place, the new white line collection by WONÁ Concept appears presenting wedding gowns of Victorian-styled romantic and luxurious designs.”

Just last month we had the privilege of receiving an invitation to Galia Lahav’s NYBFW Spring 2024 Bridal Collection Preview and if that wasn’t an honor enough, we were also able to call on the mind of the talented genius behind the brand for an exclusive interview before NYBFW kicked off. Of course with Galia Lahav’s latest looks turning any fashion-conscious bride into a sexy glam goddess, we had to inquire about Sever’s recommendations for styling a wedding dress to look sexy.
Celebrate Weddings Magazine (CWM): When styling a wedding dress to achieve a certain look, what is some advice you have for brides to keep in mind?
Sharon Sever (SS): Don't be afraid to experiment with different styles and accessories to achieve the look you want, but always make sure it feels authentic to you. It's your day, and you want to feel confident and comfortable in your dress. Galia Lahav is all about personalization and making the gown your own — I think a bride should start with finding the gown that makes her feel the most authentic and then build the rest of the look from there.
CWM: What if the bride said they wanted to look sexy, what advice would you have for them?
SS: If the bride wants to look sexy on their wedding day, my advice would be to focus on deciding to highlight one of their best features while still keeping it tasteful and elegant. This could mean choosing a dress with a fi tted silhouette, plunging neckline, or sheer details. But in the end, sexy is different for every person, and feeling sexy should come from within. The
bride should feel sexy no matter what silhouette, cut, or fabric she chooses!
CWM: If a bride wants to look sexy on their wedding day, what would you suggest they do with their accessories?
SS: When it comes to accessories for a sexy look, I would suggest incorporating statement pieces to add a touch of glamour & drama. A bold, sparkly sash or a dramatic back necklace can make a oneof-a-kind statement & elevate the look to the next level. I would highly recommend going for one statement piece though. Just like with the gown, I think it is important to have the right balance. Either big earrings or a big necklace, not both.
SS: When selecting jewelry for a sexy bridal look, it's important to choose pieces that accentuate & enhance the bride's natural beauty and complement the dress. Jewelry can add a touch of elegance & sexiness to the overall look and should enhance the confidence and beauty of the bride's special day. Glamorous drop earrings, a sparkly tennis bracelet, or a dainty pendant necklace can all be great options for adding a touch of glamour to a sexy wedding look.
CWM: How about veils; what style would help achieve the sexy look?
SS: Veils can definitely be a seductive addition to a wedding look, adding an element of mystery & allure. For a sexier look, I would suggest choosing a sheer or lace veil that drapes over the face, creating a sense of intimacy and sensuality. Alternatively, a dramatic cathedral-length veil can create a stunning entrance as it trails behind the bride, adding an element of drama and sophistication to the overall look. Ultimately, the veil should complement the dress and the bride's personal style, and add an extra element of sexiness to the overall look.
CWM: Any thoughts on selecting a shoe when styling a wedding dress?
SS: When selecting a shoe, it's important to consider the style and silhouette of the dress. For a sexy look, I would suggest choosing a shoe with a pointed toe or a sleek, strappy design. However, comfort is also key — it's important to make sure the shoe is something the bride can walk and dance in all day and night! I do think that open shoes are always sexier than closed ones though.
This November wedding with a classic color palette of black, white, and red was styled with a modern holiday theme. Red roses were the flower of choice and beautifully incorporated everywhere.
The bride walked down the aisle to Tyler Childers’ Shake the Frost and the couple shared their first dance to Brett Eldridge’s Wanna be that Song.
The bride remember’s her favorite memory: “Everything was magical, I got to marry my best friend in the presence of all my loved ones.” And her advice to other couples: “During the planning process, I would recommend to enjoy the process and be creative in what’s important to you.”

Recently lab-grown diamonds have become more popular than ever. Since their emergence in the ‘80s, these stones have increased in size and improved in quality. This cost-friendly option is appealing to couples when shopping for their engagement rings and wedding rings for many reasons — one key reason being that they are the eco-conscious choice over natural diamonds. But with so much more to know about this jewelry choice, we consulted with Daniel Setton, Co-Founder of Shiree Odiz, to lay it all out there.
Of course, fi rst we had to know from his perspective as a jeweler how lab-grown diamonds differ from natural diamonds — “Essentially labgrown diamonds are identical in every way to natural diamonds on the chemical, physical and aesthetics level. The only difference is their origin. One is formed over millions of years in the ground and the other formed in a similar, but controlled and accelerated process.
The main pros of lab-grown diamonds is that they are sustainable and don't have the same environmental and human impact as mining. Another advantage is that due to the more controlled environment, higher quality lab created diamonds can be grown for a fraction of the cost of rarer natural diamonds. The flip side of this is the inherent abundance and lack of scarcity, which uphold mined diamonds value and appeal to some.”
Regarded as the green, environmentally friendly or eco-conscious choice, lab-grown diamonds enable the wearer to feel good about their decision. How so? Setton explains, “Using a seed amount of diamond carbon, lab grown diamonds are formed under high temperature and high pressure. The fact that they don't need to be mined means that we can avoid the environmental impact that digging large holes in the ground causes, as well as the human impact of mining conditions. They do, however, still require energy, so while there is less direct and immediate impact, they're not completely green. At eco-conscious Brilliant Earth and here at Shiree Odiz we source our lab-grown diamonds exclusively from carbon-neutral labs to offset any secondary impact the energy use has on our world.”
We already know that lab-grown diamonds are available in the same sizes, cuts, and designs as natural ones, so there will be no compromising in these regards. “In some cases,” Setton tells us, “such as with fancy colors, you'll find more availability. That said, if you're looking for lower grade I1-I3, salt and pepper, less than perfect or old, antique cut diamonds, you'll find that to be more of a challenge.”
But the truth, according to Setton, is that “fancy colored lab-created diamonds are still not as common as colorless stones, yet still relatively rare and exclusive, even when lab-grown.
However lab-grown certainly opens the door to couples looking for fancy pinks, purples, yellows and more, making them signi fi cantly more affordable than mined fancy colors, which can run into the millions of dollars.”
And when talking carat size, as Setton reminds us, because lab-grown diamonds are lower cost compared to similar quality mined diamonds, they are going to allow for a larger diamond option for the buyer or wearer.
Ultimatly, with as many options as natural or mined diamonds, lab-grown diamonds may be a good choice for an engagement ring or wedding ring — as Setton says, “Grade for grade, they're totally indistinguishable. No one can tell them apart, but often a jeweler or appraiser may suspect a lab-grown diamond when faced with any high quality diamond, simply because they're more common in lab-grown than their mined counterparts.”
Value leads to another factor for some — price. According to Setton, “On average you can expect a difference of around 50% between natural and lab-grown. However, this increases as we go up in carat weight when natural diamond prices start to skyrocket.
“When it comes to the value, a lab-grown diamond of the same carat, shape and quality as a mined one of the same specifications, will be lower in price and therefore value. Either way, the monetary value is more or less what you pay for it. That said, if the final destination is your engagement ring, then the reseller value somewhere in the future maybe shouldn't be the number one consideration. As far as value for money (carat, quality, beauty, durability) labgrown diamonds are an excellent choice.”
Likely you want to purchase an engagement or wedding ring that you’ll wear for a lifetime, so you may be wondering about the proper ways to care for a lab-grown diamond. The good news is that if you already own diamonds, nothing changes.
In fact, Setton suggests the following care: Remove your ring when entering the sea or a swimming pool, when going to the gym or doing any activity that can physically damage the setting of the ring. This is no different than the way you should treat your other jewelry or stones. Gold and platinum are soft metals and care needs to be taken in order to avoid scratching, bending or breaking of the ring itself, especially prongs holding your diamond in place! To elaborate on the point about wearing the ring in water, Setton explains, “Nothing will happen to your diamond in water or anywhere else. However, bear in mind that limescale, chlorine and salt can create a thin coating on your ring which can over time dull the metal and your diamond. A professional clean and polish will remedy this, but doing so very frequently can thin away the metal of your ring.
“Diamonds are forever, even lab-grown ones. There's no reason to ever see any wear or tear of your diamond, unless something extreme has happened. That said, the metal setting is more delicate and if you feel a rattling or loosening of your diamond in the setting, you should definitely contact your jeweler for next steps. We definitely would recommend checking up on your ring every few years.”
How did you get started?
“I grew up in California in a pretty chaotic household. One of the ways I was able to express myself in that environment was through photography. My aunt had given me an old Vietnam-era film camera and I began documenting the world around me. As the oldest of 6 kids, my brothers and sisters were my first subjects. I'd direct and pose them and photograph them in all kinds of light. It was my greatest joy! Photography stuck with me as I grew older and after my own wedding, I began dabbling in wedding photography. All it took was one wedding and I was hooked! I knew in my soul this is what I was meant to do. I've had the luxury of photographing hundreds of clients since then.”
What’s your favorite part about what you do?
“This might sound cliché but I just love love! I adore seeing my clients surrounded by happiness, excitement, joy, and love on their wedding days. I bring all those beautiful feelings home with me and it's made me a better mother, wife, and business owner.”
What’s the most exciting wedding or session you’ve ever photographed so far?
“Proposals are always the most exciting because nothing has been planned. You never know if someone is going to say yes or no. There's just a huge element of surprise and it's nerve-wracking for both the person proposing and myself. Luckily no one has ever said no but just the thought terrifies me!”
This refreshing bridal session offered a soft glam look with a bold floral print dress that has everything dress dreams are made of, including balloon sleeves and a thigh-high slit. The garden spot f illed with luscious greens and delicate blooms contrasts nicely against the edgy photography capturing the bride’s best sides.
A well-known icon once said, “Jewelry should be viewed with innocence, with artlessness, just as we enjoy the sight of an apple tree in blossom. . . .” -Coco Chanel
Wedding accessories complete your bridal look, and there are so many options to choose from. But first you’ll need to select the style you’re going for. You can go classic and minimalist, classic and elegant, over-the-top glam, or mix-andmatch, it’s totally up to you!

Everyone deserves a delicious dessert and a mouthwatering mimosa every now and then, especially when you are celebrating your upcoming dream day. The perfect mix of colors with a huge variety of mimosas and an even bigger variety of desserts will make for great photos and great conversation. Not only that, your bar will be overall eye candy…well in this case, eye dessert!
A sweet treat can go with anything. At the end of a meal, on a cute date and even during a wedding. Desserts are also so versatile in color, texture, shape and even taste. You could find any type of dessert that would go perfectly with your event. Desserts are very easy to accommodate for allergies and diets, making it one of the easiest choices as well. Often, you will be able to have an assortment, so your guests can pick what they want to taste. Similarly, mimosas are very versatile as well with many different flavors of juice, fruits you can add and garnishes for presentation. Having a self-serving bar also makes it much easier on the host who is most likely already stressed about every detail of their wedding. Hands-o ff , fl exible, and adorable? That’s a yes from us! As for going together, there are many different citrusy, fruity, tarty and earthy options that would go perfectly next to a mimosa of the same taste palette.
If you’re struggling on finding what to put on your dessert bar and mimosa menu, check out these options. Here are a few different desserts that you could add to your bar: Mini Pies, Cookies, Petit Fours, Macarons, Chocolate-
covered Fruit, Cake Pops, Popsicles, Tarts, Eclairs, and Mini Cakes/Cupcakes. As for mimosas, there are dozens of ways to make them. Different juices, champagnes, garnishes and fruits can be added to a mimosa. Here are a few different kinds of mimosas: Classic, Pineapple, Lemonade, Poinsettia, Apple Cider, Tequila Sunrise, Cherry Bomb, Peppermint, Piña Colada, and Grapefruit. Di fferent colors, tastes, and textures are sure to make the bar at your bridal shower pop! You can even match the season with the type of mimosa you choose…autumn apple cider mimosas, anyone?
We all want our events, especially our bridal showers, to be absolutely perfect. That includes decor and theme. Choosing a theme for your decor will make a cohesive look throughout the entire shower. Once you have your decorations cohesive, you can start decorating your bar. Presentation is important in making your bar look inviting. Garnishes, beautiful platters, flowers, maybe even some fruit can make your bar pop. Play with texture and color to make your bar more interesting. You could even make the bar your focal point. Consider using a moveable table, bar or even a cart. Making the bar easily portable by using a dessert cart can ensure you can move inside or outside as you please with your guests. We have some ideas for you including lavender cookies and vanilla custard with fresh fruit as well as an assortment of mimosas. A dessert and mimosa bar is the perfect kind of bar to incorporate into your bridal shower, girls night out or even your wedding. Hands-free, unique, colorful, and tasty…it seems like a mistake not to do it at least once!
Lavender cookies hold a strong symbolism within weddings. Lavender is known to bring good luck, love and even devotion. This flower is purple, a sign of royalty and luxury. Lavender is also known to calm and relieve stress. This fragrant fl ower is the perfect ingredient if you are wanting a calm and relaxing wedding party.
Ingredients
1.5 cups softened, unsalted butter
2/3 cup white sugar
1/4 cup powdered sugar, sifted
2 tbls. fresh lavender, finely chopped
1 tsp. lemon zest
2.5 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cornstarch
1/4 tsp. Kosher salt
Using a mixer, combine the butter, white sugar, and powdered sugar thoroughly until light and fluffy. Stir in the finely chopped lavender and lemon zest.
Combine the flour, cornstarch, and salt. On a low speed, mix into the butter mixture until well blended.
Place the dough in a bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate until firm, a minimum of 1 hour.
Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F. Pinch off 2 oz. cookie dough, roll into a ball, and flatten to 1/4” thickness.
Place on a prepared baking sheet approximately 1.5” apart and bake in a preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, just until the cookies begin to brown at the edges.
Allow cookies to cool on a rack before serving.
The benefits of vanilla are mainly for the mood, as the scent is known to impart feelings of peace, comfort, and contentment. Its aromatic avor is sure to induce a calming effect for your guests.
2 cups whole milk
2 tbls. cornstarch
1/3 cup white sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Combine the milk, sugar, and cornstarch using a whisk in a medium saucepan over medium heat on the stove. Allow milk to heat to the point that tiny bubbles form around edges of the pan, whisking occasionally to prevent the cornstarch from clumping on the bottom of the pan.
Remove milk mixture from heat.
Mix about 2 tablespoons of the scalded milk mixture into eggs using whisk, then introduce eggs into milk mixture in a slow stream, whisking milk mixture constantly.
Immediately return the pan to heat and whisk gently until custard thickens, another two or three minutes. Do not allow it to boil. (If you find that you have egg white strands in custard, feel free to pass it through a fine-mesh sieve into a different bowl now.)
Remove pan from heat and stir in vanilla.
Mimosas are generally equal parts of orange juice and champagne, but have become very flexible. The variety of mimosas make them a perfect drink for events, with different kinds of fruits, ciders, and even other alcohol, you can create the perfect concoctions for your guests.
Fruits and garnishes for your mimosas can be mixed and matched, too.
Ingredients
1 (750 ml) bottle of champagne, chilled 3 cups (750 ml) of your favorite juice
Directions
Pour the sparkling wine into the champagne flutes, filling each glass about half full. Pour your favorite juice on top to fill each glass and serve.

Bride’s Advice: First to clear the theme you want for the wedding and shop accordingly so that it's clear what will match up wholesome. Take time before the actual wedding to keep relaxed and every required thing can be listed properly and bought and planned — the theme, the number of guests, the song, the small elements required.

Where you get ready though can make all the difference, which is why we got with Kelsey Caurro, Owner of Hitched Suites for all the details on getting ready in bridal suites, which she tells us definitely gives you an advantage over getting ready at home.
“The bridal suite is usually located in or near your venue, this can save you time on travel, preventing anyone from being late, it provides somewhere for you and your bridal party to hang out between the ceremony and reception. Also, [it] allows you to keep your belongings close if you were to need something during the reception or have a wardrobe change!”
Besides, it can be a fun experience to use a space away from home. Just imagine all the decor, food and drinks that you can bring in to fill the space with, making the day’s festivities start early. Caurro even suggests, making a Snapchat filter to use when taking pictures and a playlist of the bride's favorite music! Add in family and friends and you’ve definitely got yourself a pre-party. Indeed, Caurro notes, “I see most often is the mothers of the bride or groom getting ready with the bridal party. Sometimes grandmas or aunts will pay a visit.”
The key to success when using a bridal suite or get ready room away from home is timing and scheduling. Caurro reminds us that it’s all about the number of people in your squad that need hair and makeup. “But most often I recommend at least eight hours. It gives you plenty of time to get ready and relax with your families and friends. I commonly see couples underestimating how much time they need to get ready. Allowing yourself extra time will make for a stress free day!
Also, your hair and makeup team [should] guide [you] on how much time they need to get everyone ready.”

Bride’s Favorite Memory: “All of it. We put so much thought into all the details and seeing it, all of the things that are special to us.”
Advice from the Bride: “Do what you and your partner want without feeling obligated to follow traditions and expectations. We also thought about all the things we loved and also didn’t love as wedding guests and planned from there. It helped us make a lot of decisions.”

Let me just say, I can talk about seating chart designs all day long. Couples are getting more and more creative and unique ideas are cropping up. So it’s certainly possible to incorporate the modern look you desire and make your mother happy by adding florals. For a modern, chic, and even stylish look you can opt for a lucite backdrop with clean and polished calligraphy. Now to incorporate those florals — you can either have your seating chart lay in a bed of your florals, or place pressed flowers on the chart. Both options keep it looking crisp and clean to make sure it remains modern in style, and your florals will only accentuate the beauty. If you’re looking for a more modern and magical look, perhaps if you’re going with a fairytale theme, you may want to consider a wall mirror chart, they have been trending and it doesn’t look like they are going anywhere any time soon.

For that chic, modern look you can go with a simple, sleek frame.
YOU HAVE QUESTIONS. WE HAVE ANSWERS.
Q: “How can I achieve a modern look for my seating chart while also pleasing my mother who wants me to incorporate my florals in to the chart?”
