Working on yourself, learning to love yourself and achieving your dreams is the greatest gift that you can give to humanity. I say, “GO FOR IT!” It has been stated that we are like the people that we spend most of our time with. This is why choosing a mentor or mentors is crucial to manifesting a life that tickles your Soul. Mentors can help us to see things differently. Self-esteem, Spirit, and Confidence vs Arrogance

My previous articles in this serieshas dealt with the ego, then the shadow self. Now, I'd like to talk about the difference between confidence and arrogance.
In moving past the initial anxiety, we do the work, and it flows! As it becomes easier with experience, we need to guard against becoming arrogant. Many call this overconfidence. What is this? It's allowing the ego to creep in and leave Spirit out. It's telling ourselves how great we are, forgetting spiritual help. This likely exists on a subconscious level, but it does exist, doing its harm, nonetheless.
It takes confidence to find ourselves worthy enough to do our spiritual practice, then take it to the next level. Examples: in healing, taking Reiki clients, then teaching it; in psychic work, giving mediumship sittings, then demonstrating it in front of an audience.
It results in the client not feeling the energy in energy work, and messages falling flat on the mediumship platform. In teaching, arrogance takes its most dangerous form, the guru complex. I've seen this happen to too many Reiki masters and other teachers over the years. It demands a toxic loyalty, along with a "my way or the highway" teaching method, damaging to the development of future practitioners.
It took me a number of years, after being ready, to get up the courage to give messages at the service at Inspiration Stump in the Spiritualist community of Lily Dale, NY. You would think that after the many performances I did on the stage, that giving a couple messages in front of an audience would be easy. What frightened me is that acting is scripted, and platform mediumship isn't! When I finally realized that it was Spirit doing the work, I got the courage to do those messages! It was a matter of getting out of my own way. Therein lies the secret of the courage to take spiritual ability to the next level. It's the realization that we are the vessel, whether it's healing or psychic work. Once we get past the fear of what's holding us back, and do it, the only anxiety that should be left is doing Spirit justice.
This attitude deters students' confidence. When I teach workshops, I tell the class to beware the guru. I let them know that the instructor may have more knowledge due to years of experience, but that doesn't mean they have more talent. In giving the warning, I include myself to be left off the pedestal. It's my own reminder to to keep my own ego in check. We all cross the line from confidence to arrogance from time to time. We're only human. The trick is to spot it quickly, and to allow Spirit back in the driver's seat!

That’s What They Say Thought Provoking Insight On Common Quotations Ah, but a man's reach should exceed his grasp, Or what's a heaven for? ~Robert Browning This is by all means my favorite quote by any writer or poet, ever. The original poem, Andrea Del Sarto was penned to honor the great technical painter of the same name. His work was admired by many, and yet the most common critique of the painter’s work was that he lacked ambition, or soul. In the poem, Browning was speaking to the part in all of us that exists in mediocrity. He was calling us out. Browning was saying that even if you are a great technical “anything”, whether that be a painter, a sculptor, a poet, a pianist, a mother, a doctor, anything… if you don’t aspire to be better than your actual skill set, you will never achieve greatness. You can perform any task with great technicality, but not greatness. When Browning says “what’s a heaven for?” he means inspiration is what makes the difference between having technical skill and using the universe’s great capacity to inspire within us, something that is greater than the human capacity.It is implied within the word “heaven”, that Browning saw God as his muse. The Importance of Choosing The Right Mentor
Here are some criteria for choosing the right mentors for you. A good mentor is someone who lives life the way you want to live. A good mentor is someone that you connect with on a moral level. A good mentor is someone that has more success than you in the area that you are choosing to grow in. A good mentor is some who will listen to your dreams, plans, and goals without negative comments. A good mentor talks about the challenges on your path but never tells you that you can't do something because you are dreaming too big. A good mentor should stretch you but never break you. A good mentor should teach by example. You came to this earth to learn, to love, and to joyously expand your life. A good mentor or mentors can help you to
do just that. How do you find a good mentor for you? Read, Read, Read. Listen to podcasts, go to seminars, and workshops, and find people that you resonate with that are more successful than you in the areas you are looking to grow in. Find people that are living like you would like to live and ask them how they are doing it? It is my experience that most successful, happy people will welcome your questions and lead you in the right direction. I believe in you, and I am sending you ALL GREEN LIGHTS for your journey!

What does this mean and how can this help us understand, like and even love ourselves?
It is easily understood that all that we have is this very moment. Only the present is reality. We look to the past and call it history, we look forward and we call it future. However neither really exists. Only the present moment is real. In the present moment you feel, in the present moment you are doing, in the present moment you are experiencing. The Buddhist, the Hindus, all mystical paths are always teaching to stay in the present. When peeling an apple, simply peel the apple, when walking simply walk. Here the mind is very tricky and while you may be peeling that apple your mind is on events that may be taking place later in the evening, or maybe you are counting your blessings for the day. The task at hand forgotten and you let your mind wander into a realm that has nothing to do with the present moment. Or maybe you are peeling that apple and you are thinking of the past and wish it had been different, certain uncomfortable emotions rise making your past come alive. Had you kept your being on the apple you are peeling you would have experienced a sensation of contentment and joy. Instead memories that are long gone became the focus, setting the tone of how you are experiencing the present moment. Another way to put this is
that every given moment you are in actuality creating your reality. No you are not creating a table, place or scenario out of thin air. What you are creating is the way you perceive the events in your life that are taking place in the present by constantly being focused in the past and the future.

This is why the inner joy and love you all have within is ignored or missed. When you linger on your past you are literally bringing it into the present, setting the tone for how you will experience the moment. If you pay close attention the mind is always busy thinking of everything else, or even creating thoughts out of thin air constantly keeping you in an emotion of some type of “want�. Remind yourself to stay in the present. You only have the present, you will always only have the present moment. Do you choose to fill the present moment with thoughts that take you into your past or future which in so many ways is not pleasing at all or do you choose to peel an apple discovering such a simple task reveals your inner love for self and all? The choice has always been your.
