What makes Daimler an employer of choice for me?

Flexibility, freedom, security and work/life balance. Each employee has their own priorities for describing the perfect employer. Although it wasn't love at first sight for me, Daimler is my employer of choice.

I got to know Daimler during an internship as part of my engineering degree at KIT. I spent four months experiencing the product development at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Hamburg. Not only was it my first contact with the company, but also my first step into the world of work. There were a lot of things that I liked right away: the team spirit, the challenging tasks and the financial benefits.

But for a long time I had seen Daimler as a conservative, traditional and safe company. While these are all valuable adjectives, they are not particularly appealing to the ears of a 25-year-old graduate.

The company quickly became the focus of my attention again when I met a future executive from the Daimler talent program CAReer while on holiday in Australia. He told me about starting his career and his project in South Africa. Sounds awesome, I thought, and I applied. And what can I say? During my 18-month CAReer program I have come to know Daimler as a modern, flexible and international company.

I find the transformation of the company's image that Daimler is currently experiencing very important. Terms such as swarm, mentoring or home office are no doubt taboo for many people. But for those just embarking on their careers they are an essential part of a dynamic and attractive corporate culture. The company is currently trying to strike a balance between the future, more than 130 years of company history and the expectations of 282,000 employees around the world. This is an enormous challenge that gives everyone the opportunity to play a part in shaping this change and making the best of it. I see exciting paths for development that motivate me and drive me on. And I consider it an honor to be part of such a successful, long-standing company that is not afraid of change.
