Customer Business Development (CBD) The essence of the business… - Much more than selling! As a member of the Customer Business Development (CBD) organization, you will have a significant impact on the company`s business results by continuously improving them through P&G brands at the “first moment of truth”, when the shopper decides which brand to purchase. In the Customer Business Development function, you will use your entrepreneurial skills & collaborative partnerships with the retail customer to develop creative solutions which will attract the shopper to purchase P&G brands at the customers` retail outlets. You will be responsible for building these partnerships and using your drive and ingenuity to deliver sales goals. You will sell customer/distributor specific ideas and plans using our brands to create mutual competitive advantages.
Your Career and Development With our „build from within” culture, you will be able to compete for key CBD roles that could take you around the world, guided by our Career Path Model. You start as an Area Sales Manager, a role that will enable you to learn the basics of selling and to develop a solid understanding of our industry. You will also have responsibility for smaller/mid-size retail customers working in your geographical area. There you will sell brands behind innovative concepts utilizing market research data and maximizing the in-store presence and merchandising of our brands. You will do this work as part of a CBD Multifunctional Team where your selling expertise will be partnered with managers who have finance, information technology, customer service/logistics, marketing and human resources skills.

What do you like best about working at P&G? From the first day you dive right in – As an Assistant Brand Manager in a regional role you are expected to become the expert of your brand and are given great responsibility to develop it further by making the right strategic choices for your market. I especially value the balance between being part of an energetic, multifunctional team working towards common milestones while at the same time having the liberty to shape your business in your own personal way by contributing ideas and see them grow and come to live. On top, you get to do this with inspiring people who have such diverse experiences and backgrounds that you instantly connect with them as a CEMSie. Where did you start your career? I focused on Marketing Communications within my CEMS Master at Copenhagen Business School and already gained a glimpse into the FMCG industry with previous internships at Henkel & L’Oréal. My first interaction with P&G was during my first semester when I applied for a 3-day seminar in Geneva to get to know the company & marketing role followed by interviews. After finishing the Master I started in a Strategic Marketing role within Home Care for the Central Europe & Balkans region. How do you manage the balance between work and personal life? Work-life balance is important at P&G and employees are offered a variety of programs or activities to best support their well-being within the working environment and beyond. For example, our Business Unit’s own “Home Cares” program offers a special Gym class to stay fit or offers the opportunity to apply for volunteering sabbaticals with UNICEF that are sponsored by the company. What is (was) your most exciting project? During my first year I was working on a Home Care brand that was undergoing a major restage. This included conducting consumer research within the region, defining the strategic changes of the marketing support model and implementing the product innovation into the market. What was the biggest challenge in the first 3 months in P&G? Starting at P&G you are immediately given important responsibilities and are expected to be able to manage them. Although you are guided with specific training necessary to fulfil your job, you take lead in organizing your professional development from onboarding to your business to constantly improve your knowledge and being eager to learn.
