Chapter 1 Hiking Time Hiking is really fun to do well you are camping, and there is usually a lot of hiking trails at places that you can camp some good places to hike are Skimmer Mountain and Mount Tom. When you go hiking you will want to bring some food and water, because you get very hungry and thirsty while you are hiking. You should also bring a camera to take pictures of things you find on the way up and pictures of yourself when you are at the top or end of your trail. You might also want to bring is some binoculars to look at the view when you are at the top of a mountain trail. I hope you get a chance to go hiking. 2

Chapter 2 Let’s Make a Campfire One thing that I always think about when I think of camping is CAMPFIRES! They are so much fun. Making a Campfire Well let me tell you how to make campfires. First you need these three elements heat, air and fuel. For fuel use dry wood. For air use your breath, and lastly for heat use a match or a lighter to put the campfire together put the wood in a stone fire place, Then use your heat to light it. Next when your fire is burning out use your air to keep it going. I hope you enjoy making your campfire . 3

Making Smores Smores are fun to make when you have a campfire. All you need is graham crackers, a marshmallow and chocolate. You make them by putting the marshmallow on a clean stick then put it over the fire make sure to not burn that marshmallow when it gets a little brown rotate it or it will burn. Then grab a graham cracker break it in half. Put chocolate on half of the graham cracker then put the marshmallow on the other half of the graham cracker smush them together and boom you have a smore. TIPS Here are some tips for making campfires are. 1. NEVER!! EVER!! make them in forests because you could set a forest fire. 2. Another tip is always light them at your campsite because you could scare or alert someone. 3. Lastly always use water to put out your campfire. Remember safety first not fun. 4

Chapter 3 Suit Up For Camping What pieces of equipment should you bring for camping? I will give you some suggestions and they’re handy so bring all of it. For starters bring a tent for shelter and a cot and a sleeping bag for sleeping. Next bring a backpack and ziplocs for storage. You will need ziplocs if you want to bring things you find back home or if you go hiking you could put trail mix in a ziploc. Also bring a first aid kit for medication and in case you get hurt. Another few suggestions to bring are food, water and a cooler so you do not starve to death or die of thirst. For clothes bring hiking boots, sneakers, shirts, a sweatshirt, pants, underwear, socks and shorts. I remember when I 5

went camping I forgot my socks. My feet were so cold. For wood use a hatchet to cut down the wood you will need for a campfire. Next bring a charcoal grill for cooking you will need this because there is no stoves in the woods. Lastly for fun bring some cards and a camera. These are handy pieces of equipment so bring them every time you go camping.
