How They Met
Eric and I met at a fraternity party in 2010 at the University of Central Arkansas; we actually met having a dance off with one another. I of course won, because I am a better dancer; however, I think he'd argue that. We dated very briefly before becoming great friends. Fast forward three years—Eric got back from basic training with the Army. We reconnected after running into each other one night and have been glued to each other's side ever since. Eric proposed to me March 7th, 2013, at Pinot's Palette. I was doing a paint and sip with a few friends. The art instructor informed us that they were having a canvas giveaway, and when we registered for the class, we were automatically entered into the drawing. The canvas was facing away from the crowd, and I was surprised when he called my name—I never win anything. Once he flipped the canvas around, it read, "Samantha will you marry me?" I instantly started crying and looking around frantically trying to find Eric. When I turned around, he streamed in with a group of all of my best friends.

What Made the Wedding Special Eric and I are cut from the same cloth; we are old simple souls, and that is exactly what our wedding reflected. We were married at Jamestown Ranch with vintage lace, doilies, and baby's breath scattered throughout as decorations. We used an old refurbished piece of a barn door for our "guest book". It came from one of the old barns from my dads ranch, and it meant a lot to have our closest family and friends write their wishes for us on that piece. It is now a sentimental piece of art that hangs in our home. We had a remembrance table honoring those who couldn't be with us on that day—black and white photos of our grandparents and family that helped make us who we were
today. Another piece that made our wedding "us" was rather than a unity candle, we put together a unity cross which symbolized a relationship of three rather than two.

My absolute favorite part about the process of planning a wedding was getting to do my bridals. We shot them at Alda's Magnolia Hill which is beautiful, and Alda herself is very accommodating. We snuck in a few shots with the American flag. As I mentioned before, Eric is Army, my father is a Marine, and both Eric's parents served in the Navy. It was really important for me to tie in our patriotism with those photos, because that is who we are, not just as a couple but now as a family unit.

A Perfect Day with Alda The Pros Know There are a few times in your life when you should make the choice to let the pros handle it, and a wedding is certainly one of them. A friend at church last week could not wait to tell me about the wedding she attended…or helped. It was another horror story: as she arrived as a guest, she went to check on the bride and found the bride’s mother in the church’s kitchen frantically trying to pull together complicated appetizer trays, all at the last minute.
