How They Met
Nathan and I met while attending the University of Central Arkansas. We had mutual friends and often attended the same functions. We had seen each other several times out and about but never actually talked to one another. One night, at a small gathering with friends, we finally talked and exchanged numbers. We dated for four years until Nathan surprised me with a proposal at what I planned to be his surprise birthday party. After we walked in, and everyone yelled surprise, Nathan gave what I thought would be a thank you speech. Instead, he dropped to one knee and asked me to marry him. His surprise birthday party then became our engagement party.

What Made the Wedding Special Our Wedding day was absolutely perfect. We were surrounded by all of our closest friends and family. We wanted our wedding to have several elements that were unique and personal to us. During the ceremony, we chose to have a unity box. This box we previously filled with items and pictures that were significant to our relationship thus far. We also each wrote a letter to the other and placed them in the box to read on our ten year anniversary. We plan to continue to fill our unity box with items to mark milestones in our marriage.

For our guest book, we wanted to do something a bit different than just a book people sign as they come in. We wanted it to be something that we could enjoy and remember on a daily basis. We chose a canvas of a tree of blank leaves and had it framed. As each guest arrived at our wedding, we had them sign their name on a leaf. After the wedding, we moved into our new home together, and we hung this canvas with all our family and friends' names on our wall. It is a beautiful reminder of such a special day for us and all who shared it with us.
