"Hi CenCo!! Since UC Santa Barbara went back to school last week, the summer newsletter is finally here. There were so many new things that happened during the past few months that I was super excited about. I hope everyone had a fun summer and got to relax for bit before getting back on that school grind. I can't wait to see what CenCo has in store for the Fall. Here's a little recap of what our clubs have been up to! I can't wait to see everyone at the upcoming district events!" -Alysha Cabarrubias, Newsletter Chair

PANCAKE BREAKFAST "The Santa Barbara Natural History Museum approached the Santa Barbara Kiwanis Club for help with their annual member's pancake breakfast. The Kiwanis Club approached our club for help making pancakes and sausages and serving food to all their members. Five of our members attended and UCI CKI member Aileen Pascua and I tried our hand at making pancakes! Overall, the event had a great turnout for the museum and we had a great interclub event with our local Kiwanis Club." -Howard Wang, UC Santa Barbara

PRESIDENTS RETREAT "One of my favorite memories so far has been Presidents Retreat! I finally got the opportunity to meet the other divisional presidents while bonding with a lot of familiar faces. My favorite part of the retreat was my pack Jolteon! We got to know each other really quickly and before ya know it, it felt like we knew each other for a million years! Leaving presidents retreat I felt really grateful with the new friendships and memories formed." -Sophia Uemura, UC Santa Barbara

QUADÂ DCM

"Quad DCM is a large scale event hosted by the northern divisions of the CNH District to promote service, leadership, fellowship and unity during the summer. The annual Quad DCM was started two years ago. For the past two years, it took place at Buchanan Park in Pittsburg, CA. This year, the four northern Lieutenant Governors decided to change it up. We brought the service event to Oakland by helping out at elementary schools in the area. There was also the creation of competitive team games and activities this year to create more bonding between the members. Quad DCM has continued to grow throughout the years and we had more attendees this year compared to previous years. The previous years had about 100 attendees and this year we had around 160 attendees. This year, we worked with Project Peace to help beautify and enhance Sylvia Mendez Elementary School, Emerson Elementary School, and Ruby Bridges Elementary School. Circle K members were assigned various tasks consisting of cleaning, organizing, painting, gardening, and other similar tasks to help beautify and enhance the state of these schools. This event allowed members from Capital, Central Coast, Golden Gate and Sunset to work with fellow students to create an impact in their local communities and create a lasting impact and mark on this world. It also provides a chance to help unify members in the north to create lasting friendships and bonds, along with shaping future leaders of the future generations." -Nicolas Wright, Cal Poly SLO

BIN MAKING

"Thrift stores and charitable organizations are usually the only way the homeless and other disadvantaged people are able to gain access to clothing. Hence, the importance of donating clothes cannot be stressed enough at this time of the year. Winter is fast approaching and in the last year alone, Ventura County's homeless population has grown just under 13 percent. MCCKI, over the summer, decided to take the first step in towards those who need us the most during the cold winter that is to come. MCCKI took the initive to construct four clothing collection bins through the Makerspace facility provided by Moorpark College. Together with the help of Biola University Circle K International and California Lutheran University Circle K International, four unique collecting collection structures were built from scratch. These structures are being placed all around the campus of Moorpark College where they will provide the students, faculty and the community alike an opportunity to donate any usable clothing materials they might have to those in need." -Areeb Abbas Rizvi, Moorpark College
