Kulaçoğlu House Kulaçoğlu House is a small house that we suggested small niche design approches for living area and kitchen. We collected lots of high quality materials like emperador white, heaven white, piatra grey, silver sky marbles and natural wood flooring tiles. We wanted to use warm and cool, light and dark materials together. Also we designed a new storage specified for kitchen .

WWF Building Concept Design WWF is the world’s leading independent conservation organisation. Their mission is to create a world where people and wildlife can thrive together. They requested a new Istanbul office in Elmadağ. Our aim was analysing environmental features carefully and using sustainability optimized. The street which has the defined space has very narrow facades. Also ventilation and sunlight were main problems for this area. We tried to have a gap to under levels for sunlight and also tried to open vertical spaces (as circulation) for natural ventilation in the building.

Arçelik Prototyping Center
A culture-driven spacial transformation project ATÖLYE Istanbul approached this project by crafting a spatial language that differentiated itself via three principal activities: meet, design, make. Informed by tenets of design thinking, the resulting ‘scenes’ range from a multi-purpose event hall to an experimental UX lab, from an open-door makerspace to mobile meeting hubs. Organized within the challenging context of an existing basement level industrial depot, these interventions set the stage for spontaneous explorations, which may lead to ‘accidental’ innovations and help shift their corporate culture a bit closer towards maker culture.

A pier experiment This project has two main aims: First, redesigning the coast: Karsiyaka coast has some problems like parking areas, threestripes traffic lines which separate seaside and inner-Karsiyaka, and new tramway project. In this proposal, I propose to revive water’s edge and strengthen relationship with seaside. I redesigned coast according to usage scenarios. Second, I designed pier as an exhibition and performance art place both because of lack of exhibition space in Izmir. I wanted to use dynamic circulation against static statues and sculptures. My other main aim is to make this pier as transparent as possible. Instructor: M.Arch Alişan Asst. Prof. Tansel Korkmaz Instructor: Asst. Seyitnizam
In Seyitnizam, fabric selling the most common working area and residences of Seyitnizam earn money from selling fabric to international and local companies. Seyitnizam has the second biggest selling score in Istanbul after Cemberlitas. I tried to create a retail axes for fabric selling, for increasing their low working conditions. After that, I realized residents which are migrants mostly, then I wanted to strengthen relations with nature and soil. I designed rooftop gardens and parking area is transformed to urban gardens for supporting district incomes. Fabric is the most common working area in Seyitnizam, and Seyitnizam has second biggest fabric selling score and potential in Istanbul. First one is Çemberlitaş, there is a direct line from Çemberlitaş to Seyitnizam. Instructor: Asst. Prof. Emre Altürk, M.Arch Mucip Urger Year: Architectural Design IV Type: Social Housing
In History: 1950, 1970, 1990 THREE MAJOR MIGRATION WAVES TO ISTANBUL Results of industrialization at Kağıthane in 1950’s and after industrial investment at Levent, Anatolians started to come to İstanbul for new job opportunities. Three major migration waves occured in 1950’s, 1970’s and 1990’s and Anatolians constructed their own neighborhoods, they created their rules of new life. There is no structural order in these districs because of informal structuring. The reinforcement standard is not required for these structures due to especially the first settlers who became homeowners by taking advantage of Gecekondu Law in 1966 and the implementation of Development and Rehabilitation Plan in the district. Mostly districts still have their organic patterns. People living Gecekondu districts are still trying to preserve their old habits and traditions against modern urban life and accommodate themselves to new order of city, rent increase and urban transformation. How did Anatolians choose their settlement places? Migrants had their reasons: 1) Job opportunity 2) Rent prices 3) Distance with relatives
Social Houses were built for migrants after big migration wave. Housing blocks offered a different life to Anatolians. They had to live far from soil and they hadn’t known anyone in urban area. After 1989, 21.438 house built in Turkey.

Relations Between Two Stations
Retail Stores
Tramway station
Metrobus station
Retail stores are usually trading fabric and some of them are stores for neighbour’s needs (like medicine, groceries etc.) People are using paths between two major stations, these stations are one of main lines of Istanbul. There is a pedestrian bridge above tramway station because of elevation difference. I’m creating a path for pedestrians and cars both, this path has retail stores and creating a retail path’s aim is to support to manifacturing around this neighborhood.

Point Block Type
Regular Residance Type I
These units belong to gated community pattern. White collar workers usually reside in these blocks.
This pattern has high density also, like first pattern. Their difference is that there are fabric trade shops on enterance floor and upper floors are housing.
Regular Residance Type II This pattern has highest density around Seyitnizam, it is formed of housing units mostly.

Siteplan Flexible Performance Hall There is a terrace and cafe to make the users aware of the place, to generate new typologies of urban space, to value the obsolete heritage of the site. The performance hall is the center of the building and is conceived as a highly flexible space. It has the capacity to engage the surrounding urban life and shiſt its character to accommodate any sort of activity – from concerts to poem recitals, conferences to plays or book conventions to movie showings.
Connection to Urban Space Instead of isolating the activities, my ambition is to create an open Art and Culture House that can be an incubator for art and culture as well as urban life. A house that invites, and engages, artists, people and urban space to create a public domain for all. The idea of the public lobby is spatially similar to the traditional bazaar, it encourages interaction with its urban surroundings that mutually diversify each other to create an urban space that is influenced by the activities of the house.

Müzikotek Business Card Design Müzikotek is an international istanbul-based music firm. In the early 1980s, Music Publishing and Production Music first came to life. Muzikotek with a well deserved respectable place on the international publishing platform, represents almost 40% of the international works. Their music libraries that are updated almost everyday currently stand at approximately 3000 CD’s and 140.000 tracks. Their request was a new dynamic, comtemporary business card design. Also they had unique phrases for every each of them and according to their request the card should design in bilingual, in English and Turkish both, because of international relations and guests. Our response to design problems were simple; dynamism with illustrations, simpicity with fonts. We decided to put illustrations and phrases in the front, we left other informations like adresses, titles, names in the back side.
