February 2012 WP1 – Analisis of Needs of the Children’s Products Sector presentation Asepri and the Institution of Biomechanics of Valencia – IBV - have presented on the 20th of January during FIMI – International fair of Children’s Fashion and Cero a Cuatro – Internationl Fair of Childcare, the results of the first year of the European project Design4Children. This event was addressed to designers of children fashion, footwear and childcare products to give them innovative knowledge about ergonomics, comfort and ease of use of children products. José Olaso, investigator of IBV and coordinator of Design4Children, exposed the results of the first year of investigation of this initiative that has acquired as point of origin the research on biomechanics conditions of children and the interaction with the brands and the products designed for them. A session named Opportunities of innovation in the fashion design and children’s footwear from the ergonomics, the comfort and the ease of use – was addressed to the designers of children’s fashion and footwear, and a session named

“Opportunities of innovation in the childcare products from the

ergonomics, the comfort and the ease to use“ was addressed especially to designers of childcare products.

Work Package 3 - Design Support Tool ISRI – Uk Intelligent System Research Institute – has the role in the Design4Children to develop the Design Support Tool , a web based application that will contain comprehensive product design information enabling designers to automatically create dynamic design workflows for their specific requirements. The system will assist designers in enabling them to make more accurate decisions, resulting in fully functional and comfortable products for children and parents. In detail: 1. Creating Children Avatars – Browzwear Browzwear, the company from Tel Aviv, Israel, in charge of developing the Result 2 of the Project, has developed children avatars that can be easily modified to model all European children. In addition the company has improved its interoperability (collaboration with other software) and added support for the astm dxf format. This software application will be compatible with most common software (3D design or 2D patterning) used by childcare product manufacturers. In concordance with the support provided by Design-Support (developed in WP3, R1) (design criteria), the Virtual-Tester will be able to assess the functional/comfort properties of virtual products through the simulation of their interaction with children. For more information please contact: Asaf Ater at assaf@browzwear.com BAATPE - Dissemination of D4C in the Balkans Baatpe, the Bulgarian Association of Apparel producers and exporters has organized meetings with Balkans partners associations as part of the project TexWeb, in which BAATPE is involved. Presentation of Design4Children project has been made to the partners and other partner associations from Bulgaria, Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina , Kosovo, Macedonia, Albania. Also, during working meetings between the companies – members of BAATPE and the representatives from the German Fashion company LIGANOVA, the representatives of Baatpe used the opportunity to present the project Design4Children to the Bulgarian companies, explaining them the aims of the projects and the benefits from it for the fashion industry and the Bulgarian companies, in particular. Dissemination of Design 4 Children among designers and SMEs January and February 2012 have been a great month of activities for Children’s Fashion Europe: in fact the attendance to many fashion and childcare fairs in Europe, has given the chance to promote Design 4 Children project and disseminate its results to a wide public of stakeholders. Many designers have asked for information at CFE’s stand in Valencia during FIMI – International Children’s Fashion Fair and Cero Cuatro – International Childcare Fair. Also, CFE has taken the chance to introduce the Design for Children first results to new young designers participating to fairs such as Playtime in Paris, and Little Barcelona, during the first edition of this fair in the famous capital of Catalunya. Next meeting will be out of Europe, in Russia, where CFE as organizer of the European Children’s Fashion Catwalk in CPM Kids Moscow, will have the chance to present D4C to new European and non European designers.
