2020 WAS A CHALLENGING YEAR WE GOT DIGITAL! DIGITAL! EVERYONE GOT ONLINE TO TALK! Our IT team moved more than 200 staff members to remote work, fulfilling our commitment to keep the health and safety of all children and families our top priority.
TOP 3 FAMILY MEMORIES FROM 2020 Welcoming our new CEO, Kirsten Olson. Pandemic was not in her job description. Our caring Seaford House staff! Ever been quarantined with 16 tweens and teens?! We have! Chief Clinical Officer, Dr. J's virtual basketball camp. A slam dunk for trauma-informed care.
January 2021 Dear CFF Family, Last year was unlike any other. We were all challenged to think differently about the way we interact, the way we celebrate, the way we work, and the way we deliver services. Yet through it all, our CFF Family rose to the challenge – expanding services, embracing new technologies, ensuring that the children and families we serve stay connected, and smiling HARD behind our masks so folks can feel our warmth. I want to offer special thanks to our staff at Seaford House who never missed a beat – providing the same trauma-informed loving care to our children we count on, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in spite of school closures, new COVID protocols, and the uncertainty all around us. Research has proven that the greatest predictor of health and well-being in childhood and adulthood is connection to stable, nurturing caregivers. Our services form the foundation for strong, thriving communities. Your generous support made you a cornerstone in that foundation. It made you a vital part of our CFF Family. Together we PREVENT, INTERVENE, and HEAL the impacts of childhood adversity. THANK YOU. Your confidence, pride, and investment in our work is transforming lives and futures. Yours in positive change,
YES! WE CAN HEAR YOU NOW
We distributed more than 300 smartphones and tablets, wifi and mobile minutes to the children and families we serve, giving us the capacity to continue providing consistent, caring connections when folks needed us most.

"I couldn't do any of that without your support." "You really make me feel like you care about my situation, myself, and my family. Normally, in programs I feel like I am being judged or looked down on but you always make me comfortable. This year I overcame my addiction, got a job, pay my own bills and I'm taking care of my children. I couldn't do any of that without your support.”
"You gave my son and me a family not once but twice." "I didn't think I could be a mom. I was pregnant and alone. You became my ally, someone I really count on. After my son was born and I thought about how much you helped me, I started to think about my other family. You helped me connect with them, heal from the past and have them in my life. You gave my son and me a family not once but twice."
"As we grow together as our own family, it's beautiful." "We always wanted a large family. We adopted our two boys five years ago and just adopted the two girls. The whole goal for any child in foster care is permanency. Now, they have the structure and stability to be kids. Seeing the kids bond as we grow together as our own family, it's beautiful.”
"Tell me more about that."
"Our son is thriving and our family is together." "The outbursts were too much for us. I was scared. You taught him to say he needed a break, that his window of tolerance was closing before he started flipping his lid. The skills we all learned, talking, empathy, hugs, how do I say thank you? Because of you our son is thriving and our family is together.”
"The first time my parents said, 'tell me more about that' it was weird. When it kept happening, everything changed. Totally simple but totally different from before. I was so angry and a lot of that came from feeling scared and rejected. Like this was confusing and hard enough already. You helped them listen to me, to actually ask about my gender identity stuggles and it's been huge!”
"That is what you do for family, step up when they need you most." "He had a lot of trauma. When he got arrested I called you frustrated because my foster kids are my family. You said 'and that is what you do for family, step up when they need you most.' He was surprised when I picked him up. I told him what you said and he quietly responded, 'nobody's done that for me before.'”
