INTRODUCTION
Nowadays the genetic manipulation has become a controversial topic with different postures from religious, scientific, moral and ethical points, to the most fundamental essence of the human beings, however this presentation focus on the morality from the human as the topic of this matter.
ML
GENETICS
It is the science of genes, heredity, and variation in living organisms. In 1865 Gregor Mendel a German monk and scientist was the first who manipulate genetics in plants.
CL
GENETIC M A N I P U L AT I O N I N HUMANS
Involves techniques designed to change the hereditary genes of the human species. Goes from overcoming diseases to experimentation.
MT
TYPES
1. Therapeutic 2. Creative
ML
1. THERAPEUTIC M A N I P U L AT I O N
It is based on repair organic defects that cause diseases, such as cancer, hepatitis and diabetes.
CL
2 . C R E AT I V E M A N I P U L AT I O N Creates or develops new morphological or functional characteristics in the organism by modifying the genetic hereditary content. eye color hair color etc. MT
ETHICAL ASPECTS
There are fundamental values in the human being, one of them's life, the authority to make decisions about this belongs to ourselves and not to others.
ML
1 . A D V A N TA G E S
Make people more resistant to diseases. Change the predisposition to diseases. Make people more apt for living. Good health.
CL
2 . D I S A D V A N TA G E S
Unknown risks. Brakes the equilibrium of the natural evolution-adaptation o the human being. Attempt against the most fundamental value in the procedures.
MT
CONCLUSION
Genetic manipulation of a living being has to be under the supervision of a research group that can appreciate that all proceedings take place in the form and time and without using methods that violates the fundamental values such as life.
ML
“A man who dares to waste one hour of time has not discovered the value of life”.
