Jesus said IT IS FINISHED! What does that mean for us? One of my all time favorite things to do is to take walks. This began when I met Curt and we spent time together taking walks. We walked in the park, or we walked along the sidewalks of the city where we lived. We always walked in the same few places, because we enjoyed those particular paths and sights. Strolling hand in hand or power-walking for exercise, walking and talking is always a profitable and beneficial time for us. Twenty-three years after our first walk together, Curt and I still go for a walk almost every day. Wouldn’t that get old or boring? No, honestly, it is our time of great conversation and discussion. In Deuteronomy 11, the LORD instructed the children of Israel to teach their children by talking about God and all that He has done in their lives. In verse 19, the LORD specifically says to talk about Him as they walk. Jump over to Luke chapter 24 verse 15, look at this cool thing that Jesus did after he died on the cross and was raised up. He went for a walk. In verse 27, Jesus then expounded unto the scriptures, beginning in Genesis, all the things concerning Himself. Let’s take a walk through the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Slow down. Don’t be in a hurry. Let the Word of God do its good work in you right now. Everything that God has written in His word is for a purpose. There are no fillers, or text just to use up space on the page. As we take this walk together, remember, you are seeing the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. In the beginning, God made man in his own image and breathed life into him and man became a living soul. God then put man and his wife into the garden that He created with His words and this pleased God. GENESIS 1:31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. Then satan, that deceiving snake, came to Adam and enticed man and his wife to doubt God and to disobey what God had told them. Sin entered the earth and man had to be put out of the garden and fellowship had been broken between God and man. Now man was bound to satan. In one felled swoop, the devil stole what belonged to man, destroyed the relationship between God and man and even the relationship between man and his family, and was on the path to eternal destruction: the curse, which consists of sickness, disease, brokenness, poverty, torment, and fear.
BUT GOD!
But God, who is all knowing, omnipotent, had a plan from before the foundation of the earth. EPHESIANS 1:4 God made a promise to man (when the Bible says man, God is referring to mankind – men and women, young and old) He says: I will save you. I will pay the price to get you back to fellowship with Me. I love you with an everlasting love and I want YOU back! I want you strong, healthy, happy, satisfied, and in abundance, just like it was in the beginning. I AM YOUR DELIVERER. I AM YOUR REDEEMER!
WHEN GOD MAKES A PROMISE – HE KEEPS IT! God is not a man that he should lie. NUMBERS 23:19 But is Himself, TRUTH. JOHN 14:6
You may know this Bible verse, but let’s read it again. JOHN 3:16 -
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. God sent Jesus to pay the price of redemption; Jesus gladly gave himself. He wasn’t forced into it. JOHN 10:18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father. Jesus loves the world, too. God is plenteous in mercy! Even though man, by his own choice, doubted and disobeyed God and even to this day lives his life out of selfishness, fear, or even out of just not knowing – God continues to love the world and wants to have a relationship with each person. His mercy (giving and doing good when we don’t deserve it) allows the door to be open to come back unto the Almighty God. Jesus came to earth as a man, lived a sinless life, and was crucified unto death, on our behalf. Jesus took upon himself the sin of the world that began with Adam and Eve. He took all the sin for all ages to come and paid for it with his life. OK, take a breather. Sometimes we need to do that when walking. Stop. Breathe in the fresh air. This gospel of Jesus may be basic to some yet new to others. Let the Word do the work, it’s working something in you right now. But we’re not to our destination yet. So let’s keep walking. Too many people, especially religious minded people, stop at the cross. A great number of people know that a man named Jesus died on a cross those 2,000 years ago. But what has been kept from them is the victory that has been established because Jesus didn’t just die and get buried like other dead people. Because of the sin that he took upon him the sin of the world, my sin, your sin - Jesus went to hell. Shocked? He did. And cast all that sin away.
BUT GOD! But God, knew the plan and Jesus fulfilled and accomplished the plan of redemption because He himself knew no sin but was made sin. II CORINTHIANS 5:21 “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” Death had no hold on Jesus, Jesus defeated the devil and bought back the authority and everything else that was stolen from man in the beginning. Jesus’ life, his blood was the payment IN FULL! COLOSSIANS 2:14-15 “Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.” By the power of the Spirit of God, Jesus rose up out of hell and the grave then He spent 40 days on the earth talking to his disciples, telling and showing them the good news. And just before He went back to God the Father, Jesus told his disciples and us, “Go into the all the world and tell everyone this good news.” WHAT IS THAT GOOD NEWS WORTH SPREADING ALL OVER? Is the good news that a perfect man died and was raised from the dead? Well, yeah, that’s good and all but it’s not the full report. There have been many people throughout history (you may even know of someone) who have died and was raised from the dead – and that’s good. But what Jesus did, paying the price of redemption by taking the sin of the world and washing it clean is AMAZING! LUKE 24:44-48 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, and said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are witnesses of these things. And the fulfillment, the completion, of God the Father’s plan to get us back. When we believe what Jesus did for us, He gave us the power to become the sons of God JOHN 1:12 What does all this have to do with ENFORCING THE VICTORY?
Well, it is imperative for us to remember the plan of God from the beginning. God made us to have fellowship with Him. Man went his own way. Jesus came to restore that fellowship. Now we, accepting the gift of Jesus, are made the righteousness of God, we are now the sons of God. Our call of duty is to enforce on earth what Jesus did for mankind. Jesus who is the King of kings, (like a king did in old times to his knights) has dubbed us sons of God – enforcer of the victory of God. I PETER 2:9-10 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. The devil, who is the father of lies (and pants of fire) doesn’t want anyone to be friends with God, or to receive His love, or covenant provision. The devil’s agenda is to prohibit you from knowing the whole report which is that the victory that belongs to you by inheritance. And that inheritance was given to you the day that you asked Jesus to be your savior. ROMANS 6:4
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Walk in newness of life. (Cool, walking )
If you do not know
LUKE 4:18-19
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. The good news is that Jesus paid the price in full to restore to you all that God gave to Adam in the Garden of Eden from the beginning. In Luke 4:18 Jesus tells everyone what the will of the Father, the inheritance of the saints is. Question: What is that document that people keep in a safe place until an appointed time to let their children and family know what belongs to them when the father of the house has passed away? Answer: A Will. Hmmmm, very interesting! God the Father has NOT passed away, but he has given us His will that we, because of Jesus, have access to right now! Hallelujah!! God’s will is His written word. The Word of God spells out plainly what belongs to us as the heir of God. GALATIONS 3:29
Gospel = GOOD NEWS Poor don’t have to be poor anymore! There is mending for the broken hearted, joy and peace. The captive or oppressed are delivered and to the blind, sight is restored Look in Deuteronomy 28, there’s a whole list! In Isaiah 61, there’s more!
as your Savior and Lord, Simply pray the following prayer in faith and Jesus will be your Lord! Heavenly Father, I come to You in the Name of Jesus. We have the Almighty God, the Creator of the universe, backing us. – WE – the children, of God have the authority in Jesus’ Name to enforce what belongs to us.
I take You at Your Word. I confess that Jesus is Lord. And I believe in my heart that You raised Him from the dead. Romans 12:2: “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is that good, and acceptable and perfect will of God.” According to many studies, our minds have between 30,000-60,000 thoughts a day. What happens in our mind will eventually lead to emotions, actions and words. RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSSITION: Ralph Waldo Emerson said it well
The condition of our thoughts and the condition of our hearts are usually mirror images. Our thoughts and our motives can lead a secret life. Eventually though, according to Matthew 12:34, out of the abundance of our hearts, the mouth speaks. Whether positive or negative, our words and our actions play out for all to see. This is the very reason we are encouraged to renew our minds. We want our thoughts to reflect a woman after God’s own heart. We want our mouths speaking life because of the abundance in our hearts! We want to be natural encouragers and uplifters to the people around us, because it has eternal impact. We all long to be a woman who truly makes a difference. We want to bless people out of our own abundant blessing. We can be this by choosing to control and take charge of what happens in our mind. The activity in our mind is imperative to walking in God’s fullness and power. To understand the heavenly laws God has set before us; let’s take a look at what it means to be conformed to this world. As women, we are bombarded with negative news and with images and ideals of the perfect woman. The media thrives on negativity, and it dominates our televisions, newspapers, and newsstands. The one area we often let into our minds is the image of the ‘perfect’ woman. She has specific, skin-deep qualities, and when we don’t feel we measure up, literally or figuratively, we speak negativity in our minds. We let Hollywood define us, the scales define us, or we let other people define us. We compare our worth to the world’s standards. Because of this, we become discontent in our own skin. How, then, do we renew our mind as God has called us to do? We speak life to this scenario. Thank the Lord we are defined by Jesus, not by anyone or anything else! We are defined by His Holy Spirit residing in us, who is perfect and complete. Say, “Thank you, God, in Colossians 1:22 it says you see me as holy, blameless, and above reproach!” We look in the mirror and choose to see the beautiful bride of Christ in the reflection.
Many times we are conformed to this world by acknowledging only what the eye sees, to what is immediately before us. We face daunting circumstances, and only acknowledge the size of the mountain. We muster up our own strength, trying to be stoic, confident women, and our strength can melt quickly in the shadow of our circumstance. Our thoughts then become filled with worry, bitterness, anger (Did you know anger takes up more space in our mind than any other emotion?), and fear while sizing up the formidable mountain in our way.
We choose to be defined by our circumstances and even by our battle wounds, instead of believing what God said about our scenario, and acknowledging the Holy Spirit within us has no scars from battle. So we ask ourselves, what does God say about this? How can I renew my mind? We say, “Thank you Lord, that according to Your Word (Ephesians 1 and Mark 11:23), that you placed ALL things under Your feet. Thank you that I have the fullness in You who fills all in all. You said Your name is mightier than any other name that can and will ever be named. I can say “MOVE!” to this mountain and it will be moved. Thank you, Lord, for your victory. Your name is Victory, and that Name lives within me. Thank You that Your word is true and unchangeable.” Faith and hope are already bubbling up within us after speaking that! Instead of being defined by the size of our mountain, let’s choose to magnify and think first on what God says about our mountain. We must train our minds to think like this. We all have thoughts that knock at the entrance our minds. Thoughts come from our senses, our experiences and memories, our perceptions, and from the Holy Spirit. Many are conformed to this world, however, by listening to the god of this world, Satan. Because our mind is so powerful, the enemy will do anything to pollute it, distort it, and deceive it. Please know, however, that he cannot read our minds. He tries planting different thoughts and schemes, but it is all a blind crapshoot. He knows he’s hit the mark only when we choose to let a thought take root. When that happens, we effectively open the door for more of those thoughts. Good news: at the very same time, we can stand upon the name of Jesus, resist the enemy, and he, along with his bag of cheap tricks, will flee. In James 4, it says exactly this:
“Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” This is how it’s done, and this is how we renew our minds: Say to the thought, “In the name of Jesus, I forbid this thought to take up space in my mind. No negative thought has the right to enter my mind." Refuse to let these thoughts linger, and they will flee. I love the visual of something or someone fleeing. To flee is to scamper, escape, bolt out of there…powerless. The victory has been won through Jesus Christ. We have the very personal, extremely important job of being the gatekeeper of our minds. We must “ID” all of the thoughts trying to pass through the gates of our minds. We, the gatekeepers have one job: to determine whether or not a thought is let through the gates. How does the gatekeeper know which ones to let pass, and which ones to deny entry? The thought MUST line up with the word of God. The thought MUST hold the same standard as God, and hold the same key that opens the gates of heaven! Here is the perfect scripture for us, the gatekeepers. Philippians 4:8-9 says, “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.”
This is the key to unlocking a renewed, refreshed, and rejuvenated life! It is a tall order, but God doesn’t ask us to do things we cannot do in Him. We must think on things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtuous, worthy of praise! The Message translation of Philippians 4:8-9 says to fill your mind with the best, not the worst, the beautiful, not the ugly, the things worthy to praise, not the things to curse. We cannot be negative and expect an abundant life. On the other side of the coin, we can expect abundant blessing and peace when we think on these things. And the best news of all: we can choose which thoughts take root in our minds. Out of the 30,00060,000 thoughts we face each day, the only ones gaining entrance are the ones that have the seal of God. We can renew our minds to thinking like God thinks, which will lead to saying what God says, which will lead to getting results in our lives that God wants! That is God’s equation, and it never fails.

We don’t have to wait for January 1st to renew our fitness vows. The time is NOW to re-ignite what’s been put on the backburner. By renewing our fitness vows, we remember why we want to have an active, healthy life. God gave us one body during our lifetime, and it’s up to us to care for the vessel we’ve been given. He’s called us to do mighty things in His name, and we want no physical limitations. Much like a car, I want my vessel to get me from A to B without having to think much on whether or not the engine will perform as designed. God wants us to be able to fulfill our callings, fulfill His will, without having to worry about whether or not our bodies are capable of doing so. We honor God by honoring the gift of the human body He’s given us.
What types of changes need to be made in order to get our vessels performing efficiently? Take some time to think about what changes you’d like to make. Where would you like to be in 30 days? 3 months? 6 months? Next year at this time? Write a goal you’d like to achieve in the fitness realm. Do you want to be able to run a mile? Run a 5K? Walk for 30 minutes? Feel comfortable in your jeans? Play with your children with energy and vigor? Lose inches? Lose weight? Gain muscle? This list could go for miles! Take a minute to make a goal.
It’s time to renew our fitness vow, or maybe it’s time to make one afresh. My goal is to run a 10k. I am not a runner, but my goal is to run one in October. I ran my first 10k last April. It was a great accomplishment, and it felt great to surpass my expectations. There’s something to be said about committing to something, working for it, and following through. It can build confidence and integrity in your life!
The studies show we are more likely to achieve a goal if it’s written down and posted somewhere you’ll see it daily. You’ve written your goal(s), right? Now magnetize it on your fridge; tape it to your bathroom mirror. The studies also say if there’s an end time, we’ll be more likely to achieve it. My challenge to you is this:
Maybe it’s a 5k, a walk, or a bike race in your area. Whatever it is, grab a friend (or two), and commit to doing it! You can even train with someone, or a group of gals. If you cannot find an event, create one! You don’t have to be competitive, but having somewhere to aim increases your likeliness to achieve your goal! When you’ve signed up for this event, you can start with this training guide below. This is a suggested way to help you get ready for a 5K event. You can choose to use time and/or distance as your training companion. Maybe you want to start with a destination of one mile, then 2, then work up to 3 miles. Maybe you want use time and stay moving for 30 minutes, then work up your way to 45. Another way to get fit is to train in intervals. I’ve included a 4week chart below to help you get fitter in September. Do this 3 times/week. You can run these intervals, bike these intervals, or even swim these intervals! The other 2 days, I suggest you cross train (weight train, yoga, skate, etc.) Plan your workouts into your days. On your busiest days, choose to take a day off. Schedule your days off in two non-consecutive days. Monday 5K TRAIN
Tuesday Wednesday Weight Training OFF
Thursday Yoga/Pilates try a class at your local gym
Friday 5K TRAIN
Saturday Sunday Weight Training OFF play game with family
OUR DISCLAIMER: Not everything we suggest here is for everyone. Please consult your doctor before starting any exercises, and listen to your body. If you feel sharp pain immediately discontinue. Stretches should be to ‘the edge of discomfort’ and will take time. Rushing through or forcing a stretch will have the opposite effect, and cause injury. Please soften your joints, never lock them, and look for the ‘stretch reflex’ a point at which you should back off a stretch…when your muscles begin to shake, engaging to protect themselves from damage. This sounds scary, but if you exercise common sense along with the muscles, you should be just fine!

This month in FAVORITE THINGS, we’ll be looking at a wonderful handcraft project by Nicole from the Darn Good Yarn Shop and another by Katy Sears. Both of these women have made amazing projects using recycled garments. New to knitting? Want a fun easy project to where with the first cool breeze of fall. Check out the 45 minute Sari Ribbon Scarf. Since it’s back-to-school and fall is here, let’s talk about some great some ideas for that classic yet trendy fashion. I have put together my top 10 MUST HAVES for a wardrobe refresh. You hear about “classic” cars and “classic” movies, but what, exactly, are “classic” clothes? Old styles from long ago that were hot in their heyday but that no one wears anymore? Hardly! Classic clothes are styles that look good on just about everyone and that have been popular for years. Like the humble chicken that can be batter dipped and fried for a casual occasion or simmered with vegetables into Coq Au Vin for formal guests, classic clothes can be dressed up or dressed down for any occasion. With classic pieces, a little can go a L-O-N-G way, so invest in these wardrobe staples so you can wear them for years to come. Classics include: #10 – Dark Wash Jeans #9 – Chic Sunglasses #8 – Brown Leather Boots #7 – Trench Coat #6 – Pencil Skirt (knee/calf length) #5 – Fall Colored HandBag #4 – Cardigan Sweater (button-up) #3 - Little Black Dress #2 – White Blouse (with ruffles) #1 – Strands of Pearls (can be faux /real is better)

Katy Sears has reusable down to an art, literally. A designer out of Portland, OR, Katy has a gift of turning ordinary things into extraordinary treasures. Her husband, Brandon, being a crafty carpenter, is able to bring her grander ideas to fruition. She saw a wooden pallet, and thought furniture. Her hubby made it happen. She saw an old frame in a second hand store. He painted it gold and it now mainlines as art on their living room wall.
She found an old stained glass window pane, spruced it up, and, and it too hangs for all to admire. A turquoise facelift to a worn-out dresser gave her dining room the ‘pop’ it needed. Digging in her hubby’s toolbox, Katy uses nuts, bolts and even clay (designed and baked by Katy herself!) for necklace pendants. She spruces up ordinary place mats to add flare to the dining room. What’s her latest reusable design? HEADBANDS! She takes an ordinary piece of clothing, usually a t-shirt, and turns it into a trendy headband. They come in all sizes, colors, and styles. Some are embellished with flowers made from her amazing sewing machine, while others show off a sporty flare. For more info regarding her headbands, email Katy @ katy@sweetlandia.com
HAVE YOU ever tried to find a radio station, only to get a fuzzy connection? No matter how the dial is adjusted, we cannot get a clear sound? I sometimes wonder if God feels like that when He tries to communicate with us. Over 30 times in the Bible it says, “Hear My Words” or “Hear the Word of the Lord.” God knows it’s easy to be swept away in our busy lives, so I believe he wants us to keep our spiritual ears tuned in to Him so we can hear Him speaking to us. He wants to show us, guide us, teach us, help us, lift us and bless us along our life’s path. When we hear from heaven, it is a wonderful and glorious revelation. When God speaks, we receive a renewed purpose, a rejuvenated joy, a refreshed vision, a clearer understanding, and a knowing of God’s call in our lives. In the history of the universe, God has never been silent. At the commencement of creation, God spoke directly to Adam and Eve, and has been speaking to His people ever since. Thankfully, God uses many ways to communicate with His children. He uses visions, dreams, angels, people, animals (yes He did!), pastors, His Son Jesus, the Holy Spirit in us, and His Word. When we are tuned in, He will answer questions of “Which direction should I take?”, “Which decision is best?”, and “What is Your will for my life?” He will help keep our compass pointed in His direction. We all long to hear those words, “Well done, my good and faithful servant,” so we must hear Him to know what He’s asking of us.
HAVE YOU ever read a page in a book, only to turn the page #1 BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT In John 16:13, it says, “However, when He, the Spirit of Truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth…He will tell you of the things to come.” The Holy Spirit is called the teacher, the helper, and the Spirit of the Living God in us. He is our personal highlighter when reading the Bible. He will show you a scripture that will leap off the page, magnifying its importance for whatever season you are in. He is our travel guide when we need directions. He will lead us to take the perfect route, and He’ll even reroute us if we’ve lost our way. It says He will guide you into all truth, and even show you things to come. He is your teacher, helping you interpret scripture, situations, and scenarios. The Holy Spirit is God who is all things. If He has all things, we have all things. Stay plugged in. Be sensitive to the quiet nudging of the Holy Spirit, for that is how He speaks to us. #2 BE FILLED WITH THE WORD This is the way the Lord speaks to us. Again, in John 16:13, the … part of the verse above says, “for He (the Holy Spirit), will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak.” Even Jesus said in John 12:49, “For I have not spoken on my own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak.” Both the Holy Spirit and Jesus speak what God says. We know what God says by reading His Word; the Bible. The Holy Bible is a reflection of God’s nature, God’s character. He will use His very words to communicate to us. In Matthew 4:4 Jesus says we cannot live on bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. We live off of His words. His Word has answers, provides direction, and gives clarity for our lives. The Holy Spirit will help you understand and be filled with its knowledge. According to Hebrews 4:12, God’s Word is “alive and active.” It has living power, and breathes life into any and all things.
Because there are no words stronger, more sure, or more powerful than His own, God will speak to us most often through His Word.
and realize you were daydreaming about something else? Or maybe this scenario is familiar: We find it easy to tune things out and not really hear the words because we’ve heard noise all day long and can effectively tune things and people out?! It’s easy to fall into a mundane routine of reading a chapter a day, or become distracted in our time spent with the Lord. In Matthew 13, Jesus explains the parable of the sower, saying it’s possible to hear the Word, but have it be snatched away or be unfruitful. The Bible isn’t a book we speed read, or even skim. We must actively listen, actively participate in the reading. We meditate on it, understand it, take time to reflect upon it, and then apply it to our lives. We may even find it helpful to write down the scripture that jumped off of the page and really spoke to us, and how we’ll apply it in our lives. If you’re looking to apply answers to questions about the direction in your life, questions about your family, your spouse, your children, questions about your relationships, your finances, your business or your job, you’ll find them in the Holy Bible. The answers to our questions lie between the Genesis 1 and Revelation 22. God uses this book as an instruction manual to our life. He uses His Word, in conjunction with the Holy Spirit Himself abiding within us to help us navigate our busy lives. God will speak to us; He will show us His way. Hearing from the Lord takes practice. Just like any relationship we nurture, the Lord wants us to spend time with the Him, giving Him thanks, reading His word, getting to know Him. Put red tape around your quiet time with Him. Give Him precedence as you would your dinner time or other important commitments during the day. He will speak, He will teach, He will show. We just need to keep our hearts soft and ears open and ready to receive from Him. When we tune in and hear our Father, He will lead us higher, and take us farther than we ever could have gone on our own. His will always trumps our own. When our compass is be pointed in the best direction for our journey, there comes a renewed sense of joy and purpose in our lives, knowing we’ve heard from our Father.
REMEMBER: To have in the mind an idea which had been in the mind before, and which recurs to the mind without effort. To preserve the memory of; to preserve from being forgotten. To think of and consider; to meditate. To bear in mind with reverence; to obey. For maximum efficiency and productivity, people have kept a ‘to do’ list for years to make sure that nothing is forgotten, and that everything on the list gets checked off. The list is usually in a place where they will see it multiple times throughout the day. The list keeps the task in the forefront of the mind. Without keeping the task in the forefront of the mind, it’s only a matter of time until something very
important is forgotten and not accomplished. The Word of God is the same way. If we are to accomplish what the Word instructs us to do to have a long and prosperous life, we must keep the Word in the forefront of our minds. In my study and meditation of the scriptures, I am simply amazed at the theme of “remember this, and don’t forget” admonitions throughout the entire Bible.
“Did you remember to….?” How many times have you heard this phrase? Hundreds? Thousands? Maybe more. When you think about it, what the person asking this question really wants to know is: did you keep the task to accomplish in the forefront of your mind until it was completed, or did you forget? KEY: King David knows how important remembering is. Let’s look at a few of Psalms to find out. We’ll start with one of my favorites Psalm 103 and verse one: “Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.” Notice how David blesses the Lord with ALL that is within him, not 50%, or 75%… ALL. “Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:” There it is. And FORGET NOT all his benefits. Why? Because long term, you can’t be or have what you don’t know. And we have to discuss the following scriptures. God is so good to have David go ahead and list the things not to forget. Here they are: Who forgiveth all thine iniquities who healeth all thy diseases
Remember that all your sins are forgiven through Christ Jesus. Remember that by Jesus stripes you are healed! KEY: Keep this in the forefront of your mind. “Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagles.” The LORD executeth righteousness and judgment for all that are oppressed. These are all the benefits available to you from the Father by faith in Christ Jesus. But it’s impossible for you to take hold of these things if you don’t know about them. Father says that His people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
What you don’t know can kill you. This is why it is critical to keep the above information – the benefits in the forefront of your mind. How well does it go over with the policeman who stops you for speeding
and you reply with ‘I forgot, or I don’t know?’ If the policeman even acknowledges such a feeble excuse, it’s usually: “Well, it’s your responsibility to remember the speed limit or find out. Here’s your ticket.” Now let’s jump down a few verses. In verse 17and 18 , “But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children; to such as keep his covenant, and to those that remember his commandments to do them. To who? To those that keep his covenant, and to those that REMEMBER His commandments to do them. This verse sums it up perfectly. You must remember, and you must DO. It’s not enough to just know the Word.
KEY: You must do the Word. JAMES 1: 23-25:
For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. Go back and read that again slowly, meditate on it. Seriously, go back and read it again. The KEY here is that if you don’t do the Word, you forget it. If you don’t do the Word you can’t have what the Word says you can have if you do it.
Remembering and Doing makes you unstoppable! Did you know that satan can come and steal the Word sown in your heart? This is sobering but true. If you only sow the Word into your heart satan can come and snatch it away. If you study the parable of the sower diligently, you will find that only the one who does the Word of God yields fruit. Amen! We remember by sowing the Word into our hearts, (we sow by saying the Word), then we do The Word, to get results. When we do these two together, satan cannot steal from us. Hallelujah! Remember, the Word works. Not sometimes. Not most times. All times. The Word works.
I have a question for you. Have you ever seen rain, snow or hail go back up into heaven after its come down? No, you haven’t. In the same way that you’ve never seen this happen, the Word goes out an d accomplishes that for which it is sent. Isaiah 55:10-11 says: For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. Glory to God! You might say, ‘well that was God talking, surely we can’t do that.’ When what we say is based on the Word and is mixed with faith, YES WE CAN! God made us in His image. We are a talking, living spirit. If we weren’t intended to have what we say come to pass, God wouldn’t have made us beings who talk and speak. Mark 11:23 says: For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Friend, make no mistake about it. You do have what you say. We have what we continually, consistently say. What we say, comes from our heart. Jesus said out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. This is why it is critical that we have an abundance of God’s Word in our heart. So that when we draw from deep within the well of our heart, we speak truth. We speak love. We speak with right motives. What’s important to remember? Maybe you’ve been a Christian for a long time, but you’ve just now made the decision that the Word of God will be final authority for you. No more compromises, no more playing around.
Remember this: GOD LOVES YOU! Renew your mind to the truth that God is LOVE, and He loves you. The devil, through religion and this world has tried everything he can to paint God in an untrue light. That God is silent, mad, doesn’t care about you, waiting to get you, looking for all the imperfections in you, and doesn’t love you. I can testify that God is love. Not just a feeling of love, but tangible love. Love that provides, protects, blesses, and prospers in every area. Complete wholeness. Start finding all the scriptures in the bible that talk of God’s love to you, and renew your mind to them. A good place to start is with one of the first scriptures we talked about. PSALM 103. All the benefits that David is talking about is God’s love to you in action. Sow this Word into your heart. Remember it, do it, and you won’t forget it. Look at what Jesus said He came to do in Luke 4:18-19 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.. This is all God’s love to you. When you have a highly developed belief in the love of God for you, it will change you forever. You will carry out God’s plan with confidence, because you know He loves you. You will not fear, because you know He loves you. You won’t lean on your own understanding, but you will put your Trust in Him, because you know He loves you. When you, with your whole heart, put your trust in God, He will show Himself strong on your behalf. Remember this, and don’t forget.
What’s most important to remember?
FaithToOvercome.org on YouTube channel: HAWKINSMINSTRIES Allow the Word of God to renew and strengthen your mind! The Bible is called the Word of life. There’s not another book like it that can teach you how to live fearless and free all of your days. By taking hold of God’s instructions you can experience a long, strong life.
Hebrews 11 shares with us the great heroes of faith, men and women who believed God and saw, and experienced healings, deliverance, and miracles. Revelation 12:11 “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” Because of Jesus and because of our testimony we overcome the devil. We give God all the glory and encourage and build up each other to stand strong and never give up!
GOD IS NOT A RESPECTER OF PERSONS: what He has done for one person, He will do for you. There are times we may struggle with issues or circumstances and to read about others who have taken God at His Word and been victorious gives us further proof and evidence that God is ---We endeavor to be perfect like Jesus, but even if we fall short, that’s okay because He picks us up and we continue on. It’s in the getting back up that encourages others to do the same…to never give up. When you share your story you’ll touch someone who may have have heard that they, too, can overcome their situation and your story will encourage them.
