END NOTES Dear Patron of the Arts, Thank you. Thank you for coming out to support the arts at Chaminade. We can never forget or take for granted the blessing of a tremendous facility—The Tutor Family Center for the Performing Arts brought to fruition by the generous donations of so many, including our angel, Sandi Poms, taken too soon. There is a spirit of love, family and generosity that pervades our Theatre and we feel it and know that it requires our highest levels of performance. And so, we dedicate this performance to those generous benefactors who believed in the talents of the Chaminade Performing Arts students, who saw a need, worked to see it fulfilled and we hope they are all pleased with what we are accomplishing here in their name and in the name of Chaminade College Preparatory High School Performing Arts. This year’s Chaminade Players theatrical season is quite diverse. We began with our outdoor production of ALMOST MAINE in conjunction with our Festival of the Arts, sharing a sometimes comic and sometimes poignant tale of love and almost love in Almost, Maine. Our spring musical, we will be telling the tale of the broken hearted, vengeful, SWEENEY TODD. This will be a ten year anniversary production for The Chaminade Players—produced on the stage in the Bob Hope Center in 2010 and now for the first time to be produced on our Tutor Stage in 2020. And now, HAMLET. HAMLET. To spell it or say it, to think of reading it or … oh, my goodness, staging it… producing it… sounds daunting, to say the least. And now add to that--- in a high school. Even more of a challenge. Well, these are the Chaminade Players and I am their director and we do have a tremendous facility and awesome creative team. That being said… it has not been easy. I wanted to tell you that it has been a piece of Shakespearean dessert, but, alas, the challenge has been real. But, our students, as always have risen to the occasion and I thank them. Lessons have been learned, all around and that is always a wonderful thing. So, thank you to the Chaminade Players Cast and Crew; thank you to Mike Davis for leading our tech crew and keeping all of his fingers; thank you to Jeff and Lacey for the beautiful creativity and work with the students and thank you to the magical Tracy and Brother Tom Oles for assisting and guiding! Thank you to our new fight director, Marc LeClerc for sharing his gifts and to Nancy Dobbs Owen for sharing her choreography talents with us. Thank you to our amazing parents, led by Patty Pelayo. Feeding the hungry mob is no easy feat! Thank you to Lori, Karen, Sarah, Katie, Charisse, and all the parents who help out in so many ways to keep us up and running!! Thank you to Amy Masino for coming back to help take care of our front of house needs! Thank you to anyone who has helped with this production in any way. And thank you to our administration for supporting our program, throughout it all. We have set our production in post WWII, Denmark. Although, the war has ended, the threat of attack is still fresh and so, the country stays on guard. The old king has passed and his son has returned home, just in time for … the wedding? And now, for our classic tale of family, love, revenge, madness, ghostly encounters, betrayal, and death, as only William Shakespeare can spin it. This above all- to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man. Farewell. My blessing season this in thee! Yours in the Arts, Yvette Lawrence Bishop Director of Performing Arts/ Drama Director
