CLIENTS BACKGROUND The owners and their brother-in-law bought a property in New York City as a second home for education and work. The owners wanted a home that was different from a traditional home, a place where they could grow up with their children and gather with friends.
CONCEPT STATEMENT_ THE PLAY HOUSE +A carefree home without any rules. +A place to release the nature +Sharing life, a communal way of home life “ When considering the function, I am not based on the comfortability or practicality. On the contrary, that people can share their lives is of the most importance, I think.” ——Tadao Ando The concept for the project was called a playhouse. The design defined the home for the client as a place where everyone could share their lives. The designer analyzed the client's personality and routine, and compared each client to a small animal, and designed the home as an uninhibited, inclusive, natural playground for these "small animals" to share. The spatial design strategy is to set up private spaces for the individual to meet
