Dare to create
CHAPEL AENEID 2022-2023
As this past year has been full of surprises, joy, energy and creativity, we came up with a new design for the layout that we had never tried before. The idea of ‘Street Art’ relates to all the power that we felt and created using our school spirit. After long meetings, we finally decided to commemorate the events and accomplishments that happened throughout this amazing year in our yearbook Dare to Create. We hope that you all cherish the memorable journey that we have been through this year. We have never been as strong as we are today – as a community, a union, and a family! Go Chapel!

1947-2022 CHAPEL’S 75TH ANNIVERSARY
Chapel School’s 75th anniversary was celebrated in four significant events that took place during the first semester of the school year: The Book Fair (which included the launching of Chapel Cookbook, 3rd Edition), Children’s Day, Thanksgiving, and Chapel Day. The latter celebration included the release of its official pennant, which symbolizes students’ love and pride for their school.
On December 8th, Day of Our Immaculate Lady as well as the anniversary of Chapel’s founding, the school celebrated with a mass marking the school’s 75th year. Many additional activities marked this occasion.

Dear Pre II,
It’s been a pleasure to watch you develop and grow in so many different areas of learning in the ECEC! We can barely believe that time has gone by so quickly and now you are going to Kindergarten!
As the saying goes: ‘’Time flies’’ - and so do we! Who could forget our 1st field trip to Museu dos Insetos ? You were so brave in having a go and exploring your favorite (and perhaps not so much) different kinds of insects at the museum!
As you move into a new class, teacher, and classmates, remember to keep on learning, investigating, asking questions, having fun, and loving yourself and others!
We are so proud of you all. You will be missed. Love,

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
FIRST GRADE
Dear Students,
What an amazing year this has been! It’s been a pleasure to watch you grow and change. We had fun dressing up like we were 100 years old for the 100th day of school and drawing hearts for Valentine’s Day. You surprised me with your scary costumes and we had a yummilicious trick or treat adventure. You have within you everything you need to continue to be successful. You can move mountains if you want. We wish you the best of luck.
Ms. Paula and Ms. Mariana
FIRST GRADE
Dear 1st Graders,
We are extremely proud of all your learning and hard work this year. We shared countless memories and accomplishments together here in 1st Grade. Good luck in 2nd Grade!
Hugs,
Ms. Graves and Ms. Gabriela

FOURTH GRADE
To the Most Incredible 4th Graders,
Thank you for making my first year at Chapel unforgettable! Our class was always filled with laughter, excitement, dedicated workers, and above all, love and respect for one another. Continue to be: CREATIVE, and put your imagination to work. INQUISITIVE, as questioning is the greatest resource for learning. UNIQUE, be different, be yourself! Finally, be PROUD of your accomplishments. You have earned them! Pop in next year and know I will always beam with pride whenever I talk about you!
*Remember the fable TheFarmerandHisSonsand create your own collection of “Stern Stories”. Love, Ms. Stern
FOURTH GRADE
Hello, my little math wizards and bookworms! You’ve learned so much in such a challenging year. Don’t forget how to multiply and divide over the break. Teach those 5th Grade teachers how to play silent ball. See you in the hallway next year!
Mr. Vogel
FIFTH GRADE
Dear 5th Graders,
What an amazing year! You worked hard, you learned much, you matured greatly! It may not have been all fun and games, but you are better prepared for 6th Grade and eventually High School. You should be proud of yourself and all that you have accomplished and learned this year. You are all amazing. Good luck in 6th Grade!
Ms. Fox
FIFTH GRADE
Our school year was full of adventures from losing Carl to gaining Coy on CNN 10. Dressing as aliens and living on Mars. Having duties, playing games, and celebrating Donut Day. The knowledge given of the Honolulu Coconut or becoming a chess master; the powers of a superhero that only a 5th Grader can have. Plus, saying goodbye to Santa Claus. The story continues in 6th Grade.
All the best!
Mr. M
You came in like a wrecking ball…but, despite all the drama, you managed to make us laugh, and more importantly and impressively, you managed to make us proud. Whatever happens in your future, whether High School or beyond, we’ll be here for you.
Mr. Desai
What a rollercoaster of emotions it has been, working with you wonderful boys and girls throughout this academic year. I am so proud of all of the hard work you’ve put in and I’m 100% sure you will enter High School full of confidence, knowing you’ve passed the toughest tests in 6th Grade. It was agonizing and rewarding at the same time to reign in your sometimes stubborn, but also sweet characters during my classes. In the end, all of you started to show the right attitude and work ethics necessary to be successful in High School and life beyond. Remember that all the hard work paid off in the end; show the same attitude from Day 1 starting HS and your academic success is guaranteed! Thank you for putting up with me and all of my assignments as best as you could. Don’t be a stranger and pop in my class next year to say hello! Enjoy your summer holiday! Love you all!

“Let the years we’re here be kind, be kind” - “North”, Sleeping at Last Família: Muito obrigada por todas as oportunidades, por todo o apoio, educação, amor e carinho. Vocês me deram o mundo. Drama and Glee Club: To all of my chaotic artistic friends, good luck in your next few years of High School. Keep shining like the stars you are! All the rest, my friends, is jive. Besties: My beloved blorbos, I’m beyond grateful that the planets aligned (syzygy!) for us to meet. I’m so proud of y’all. Your futures will be just as bright as you are. Marta, thank you for every deep convo about life and current fandoms. Derick, thank you for every bright smile and dad joke. Stella, thank you for every hug and baking session. Keep being your wonderful selves! There’s someone in your corner all the way across the sea. Mar: We made it. Thank you so much for being with me through everything these past few years. Between late-night jackbox with the hydros, 3 a.m. rantings about college applications, and joint music playlists, I know we can face anything together. I can’t put into enough words how much you mean to me. I love you. You’ll always be the biscuit to my strawberry. Teachers: Thank you all for your support. You all helped me grow as a student and as an individual, and I could not be more grateful for the opportunities that I was given. Thank you for the wonderful learning experiences and for your immense patience (especially you, Ms. B.) Class of 2023: Congrats, guys! We’ve been through many challenges to get where we are today. Now all these struggles are the past instead of the future. They flew by in the blink of an eye, and are now nothing but memories. I’ve learned a lot from all of you. Good luck wherever you go, for I’m certain you will all change the world. Thanks for everything!

When enrolling at Chapel, I was astonished at how welcomed and accepted I was in this class. Even in the middle of a pandemic, the ones that today I consider as friends made an effort to reach out and ensured I was included and felt a part of the group. During my times of doubt, uncertainty, difficulty (mostly injuries, I guess), success, happiness and sadness, my true friends showed me their true colors, and I must say: How beautiful they are! I thank the ones that were by my side no matter the circumstances and to those that helped me learn valuable lessons that I’ll carry throughout my life. Now we take our own paths into a life of new challenges and memories. Even if not physically present for each other, we are together in mind and heart, and hopefully our paths will cross once more. Most importantly, I need to thank my family. Not enough words can describe the opportunities and the amount of love you give me everyday. I truly love you with all my heart and could not have wished for a better mother, father, sister and doggies.

Saudades! Nat: If you’d asked me 2 years ago, I never would’ve guessed how much you’d change my life. The year 2023 always seemed far away, but the time has finally come. I would like to start off by thanking my family for all the love, encouragement, and support. I love you all more than you can even imagine. I’d also like to thank all my teachers for showing me the ways of life, encouraging resilience, and always pushing me to my maximum potential. I know I probably drove some of you crazy, but I am grateful for having every single one of you as part of my journey. Onto my classmates, I’m grateful for all the memories we shared together, and I want to thank every single one of you for making my High School experience the best. I wish everyone great success in the future, and that we meet again soon! I’d also like to give a special thanks to my friend group “PDF”. Pedro Barahona, Rafael Seabra, Ruy Neto, João Arantes, Guilherme Álvares, Enzo Young, Cezario Caram, Bruno Monte Alto, and Pedro Amorosino. Life wouldn’t be the same without all of you, and I am glad we got to go through this journey together. To my little “pirralhos” in the group: Romão, Theo, Miguel, Filé, and Joe. I wish you all the best during senior year, and make sure to keep up with all of our traditions at Chapel. I’m looking forward to creating many other special memories after High School, and most importantly, creating “PDF 2. 0” for our children in the future. I’d also like to thank Sophya, Juju, Duda, Luisa, Delfina, and Ju for all the amazing moments and laughs we collected together during these years. A special thanks to those who have left Chapel: Ste, Carlo, Tata, Luca, and Zé. You all complete me as a person, and our friendship is extremely precious. I’m close to reaching my maximum word count and I had much more to say. But for everyone else reading this, I wish you all the best, and that we may share many other special moments in life. We may all be in different places of the world, but always inside my heart. Thank you.

Nath and Rod: Know that you are my favorite repeaters! I am very grateful for all the moments, all the laughs, all the gossip and all the perrengues we spent together. It was always good to have you at times when I was desperate for some lesson/test that I didn’t do/study, because I could count on you to calm me down, saying that you weren’t prepared at all. I knew I would be facing a challenge, but at least it was with you. I don’t know how we survived until today, since I’m sure that if one jumped off the bridge, the other two would jump after without even thinking. I will never forget each one’s thousand dogs, which I love more than you. They always knew when I needed support, laughter, advice or distractions. Never question whether you can count on me, because I promise that even though I’m in ‘airplane mode’, as soon as I see you, I’ll run to the moon to help in any way I can. You can feel very special because I don’t run, let alone as far as the moon. I have no idea how I became friends with you, but somehow it worked. Bela, Sophia, Giu, Zé and Esteves: You’ve all been with me since Kindergarten and, even though we only became friends years later, today I consider you my brothers. In case we follow different paths, I want you to know that I will never forget Bé’s laugh, Tonho and Zé’s jokes, the videos that So and I made as a child, and the bond I created with Giuli and her family. From these last couple of years, one thing I’m certainly grateful for is your friendship. Gui: You are the most talented person and I thank you for being there to talk about life and actual music. Ruy: It is impossible to be in a room with you and not break into laughter due to your jokes and stories. Carlo/Tata/Ze: Some of my favorite Chapel memories were with you, and I really wished you had stayed. Nevertheless, I’m happy and thankful for being able to occasionally meet up with you. Filé/Joe/Romão/Theo: The future of Chapel is in your hands. I hope to stay in touch with you after I graduate. Mr. Talarico: Besides teaching me bio, you also taught me how to be a better and kinder person. Thank you. Best Chapel Memory: Annoying Ms. B with our dumb questions in 10th Grade Plans After Chapel: Enjoy College
Papai: Papai, você é a minha maior inspiração. Obrigado por tudo, a você e a minha mãe, pois me fizeram quem eu sou. Paula: I know that we are constantly teasing and making fun of each other, but honestly, my day would not be the same without you. I would not be the same without my annoying sister and despite the constant jokes we have a very strong bond and I am who I am because of you. Toni, Martin and Nico: You have all made this school what it is for me. No class is the same without us asking Ms. B weird questions or talking when we’re supposed to be working. I would not have been able to get through school without Martin’s stories of the previous night, Toni calling me with Math questions, or Nico’s weird videos. Ms. B: Asking you several questions and coming to you with my dilemmas always made the class better. I have never felt as comfortable as in your class and I appreciate all the work you put in for us. It mustn’t have been easy, especially with us in the class, but you always did it with heart and I will never forget this. Mr. Santana: You always made the classes more interesting and I always enjoyed our conversations before or after classes. I will never forget everything you did for me. I have never felt so connected with a teacher and I want to thank you for everything.

Plans After Chapel: I want to take a year to learn more about myself.
I can finally say that I have completed my 13-year journey at Chapel. When reflecting about the end of this cycle, I can say that each person present had an immense impact on who I am today. So for that I am grateful. Grateful for all my friends. You guys made me feel loved when I was being my true self. I will forever cherish all the amazing memories we created together. Grateful for all my teachers. I want to thank all the teachers who have taken the time to find an alternative way to help me learn. I am eternally grateful for the work we have all done together.

Rafa; We have been friends for so long, and we now graduate as brothers. Your heart is made of gold, my friend. Thank you for the help you have given me in all aspects of life. May our friendship last for many lifetimes. Tom, how many times have you made me laugh, and cheered me up in times of trouble. Never change, brother. May we create millions of new memories together. Love you, Tommer. Cezario, thank you for the unconditional love and support in the ups and downs, high and lows. The world awaits your huge ambitions. You are a true brother to the core, and you treat me as one of your true brothers. Barahona, you are a jack-of-all-trades – a jokester, a trickster, a brother, and a friend. Thank you for this unbreakable bond we have made. Thank you for bringing light in darker moments. Johnny, what a brother. You never cease to make us laugh. My partner in ‘clownship’, and forever my brother. Thank you for just being you, peach. May we toast together for many years to come. Ruy, you don’t even have to say a word to make us both laugh as we have a natural bond, brother. Our memories together are the funniest humanly possible, and I wish for many more in the future. Thank you, my friend. Amorosino, the ‘rootest’ of them all. Another brother I never had. You treat me like family, and that’s more than special. Thank you for the laughs and for your kindness. Bruno, a master in companionship. A natural born leader. Thank you for all our times together. I wait for more, brother. You are always by my side in times of trouble – even when we were injured, we were injured together. Enzo, we relate in thousands of different ways, from music to our standards. I cherish our memories together, and wish to have many other music jam sessions together. Thanks, brother. To the rest of the PDF family, thank you for the laughs and for the brotherhood. You are all incredible, and I love you all with all my heart.

I never thought I would be here today, writing my senior page. I remember being scared of the seniors because they were so much bigger and cooler and smarter. And today, I can say that I have become one of them. I have become someone I am proud to be. School, in general, has shaped me into being the person I am today. From all the class conversations in English, to the sports tournaments, to the after schools in the library, I am grateful for every part. During the last 13 years I’ve spent at Chapel, I’ve made great memories and relationships. Memories such as school trips, tournaments, and school days all around. I would like to express my gratitude to the following people and moments that Chapel has allowed me to experience in all these years as a student: Thank you all teachers that have passed through my student years at Chapel, being it my teachers in ECEC, Elementary, or even in the High School. Every single one of you has had a great impact on my development as a student, but mainly as a human being. I would also like to thank my friends: Patrick, Rodrigo Garrido, Rodrigo Solomoni, Mathias Reimer, Antonio Dalo, and many others that have made my years at Chapel more fun, and even on my worst days were able to put a smile on my face. I would also like to thank all sports teams that I have been a part of – soccer, futsal, basketball, softball, and volleyball. The moments we shared in NR as a team were highlights of my academic years at Chapel, where I would always leave the tournament extremely happy, regardless of the result we had. I would like to thank my parents as well with an important message: Mãe e Pai, gostaria de agradecer todo esforço que já fizeram para me educar, para me ajudar a amadurecer. Even though I’m going abroad and you’re staying in Brazil, I will still call you every 5 minutes for the dumbest things. I still don’t know how I’m going to handle not seeing you every day or just texting you, “What are we doing today?” We only became friends in 2019, but it honestly seems like I have known you forever. You were one of the few people who actually believed in me, and I will forever cherish the memories we created since 2019. The five- minute distance between our apartments will become a 10-hour flight, but I know that it will not change a single aspect about our friendship. Renatinha: Re, enjoy your senior year – it goes by quickly. I will miss seeing you every day at the library’s veranda and complaining that the last time you went out with me was 500 years ago. Hopefully, next year you will be going abroad as well because I will need you there with me, “minha pirralha predileta”. I know you are horrible at texting, so I will make sure to disturb you at least once a day for daily updates on your chaotic life. Pat: Thank you for the best memories, I will treasure our friendship forever. To my best friends, Inus, Clarilu, Fran, Paz y Niki: thank you for teaching me that distance does not matter when love persists. Val, Gabi, Lara, Oli: thank you for making me laugh, for being by my side when I freaked out, and for showing me that there is light in the chaos. I love you all. To my favorite person, thank you for supporting me through thick and thin. For loving me on my good days and the bad days as well. High School is just the beginning of our story.

Ana: We made it. Thank you for being here with me. You of all people know how hectic High School has been for me, and I’m so grateful to get to close this chapter of our lives together. After five years—most of which were spent oceans apart—I know our friendship can more than survive college. But I’ll still dearly miss all our impromptu sleepovers and bonding over all the trauma inflicted on us by the IB. I love you, jam bud. Derick, Marta, and Stella: My ‘blorbies’ – I’m so proud of you three. It was such an honor to meet you. I can’t even put into words how much I’ll miss you: The jokes, the vibes, all our meandering conversations. I’ve loved living out the found family trope with you all. Derick, you will always be my favorite chaotic/wholesome/mean/nice friend. Marta, I truly hope somebody studies you in a lab someday. Stella, I’ll miss your hugs; take care of your knees. I know you guys will go far. Good luck in your last few year(s) of High School—and if you need anything, you know you can always count on your ‘grandmar’. To my teachers: Thank you for all your support, and for all the knowledge you’ve shared with me these past two years. Every class has been an opportunity to learn and grow, and I know I have emerged all the better for it. To my fellow 2023’ers: Congratulations! It was wonderful to get to learn beside you all. I wish you all the best of luck in all your future endeavors. “To live in this world / you must be able / to do three things: / to love what is mortal; / to hold it / against your bones knowing / your own life depends on it; / and, when the time comes to let it / go, / to let it go. ” - “In Blackwater Woods”, Mary Oliver

But ever since then we have become inseparable. Now a new journey will begin, and I wish you all the best. I hope the US fits you well! I am grateful to have you by my side. I will miss all the adventures, “perrengues” we had together, your daily weekend stress to decide the perfect party, the long conversations, and especially you. You are an incredible friend, and I wish you all the best in this new chapter of your life! We had quite an unusual four years of High School, having spent almost two of them online, but the experiences and lessons learned will be taken with us for life. I’d first like to thank my family for their support throughout these years. Christine showed me around on the first day of school in ninth grade and gave me great IB tips. Lisa helped me with the college application process during late-night snacks in the kitchen, and of course, my parents, who always supported me, helped me organize myself, combining sailing and school and assisted me whenever needed. I also want to thank my teachers over these four years, some of which taught me more than others, but all of which had an input on my education, bringing in another perspective on how to see the world and how to position myself in it. Finally, I want to thank my friends who also, over the years, taught me valuable lessons, supported me, and with whom I share valuable relationships. I hope each of you is happy with whichever path you follow. Thank you, Chapel, for these four years. Now, onto the next chapter.

Best Chapel Memory: Singing at Pep Rally Plans After Chapel: Become an engineer
This message will serve as a guide for the upcoming IB students and a thank you to all the people that were in my life the last couple of years. Firstly, giving a heads-up to those pursuing the IB curriculum is essential. I will not lie by saying it is easy because it is not. However, a couple of strategies helped me along the way. Besides handing in work on time and giving it your best, the habit that helped me the most was being organized and doing things ahead of time. Plan out your week, and study a little everyday day. That way, while all the others stress over deadlines, you will be just fine. Secondly, I would like to thank everybody who has been with me through this long and challenging journey. Even in bad times, those close to me are why I kept going. In particular, I am grateful for my mother, father, grandmother, Rodrigo, Henrique, and so many others. It would be an endless list if I were to mention every person who has assisted me during my years in High School. So thank you to all. Although I will leave in a few months (at the time of writing this page), I will cherish all the memories I created with all of you. To conclude, I want to give a special shout-out to all the people I met during my six years at Chapel School. As for colleagues, I was fortunate to be somewhere in the middle in relation to all friend groups. Although I interacted more with some than others, I got to experience a little bit of everybody throughout my years here. I will take these moments with you all and carry them for the rest of my life. As for teachers, few individuals can determine one’s future as much as they can. Even with the tremendous amount of work at times, you all have made me into the resilient man I am today. Indeed, with college experience on the horizon, I will be ready for whatever task they throw at me. If not, I will do the same thing I did with you guys – study a lot. Thank you, Chapel School, for preparing me for the future.

Bê: Be sure to enjoy your remaining four years, both in and out of school. I know that you’re going to accomplish great things in the days to come. I may have been at Chapel School for only two years (one of which was completely online), but I feel like I adapted very quickly due to the many friends that adopted me during the course of these years. I just wanted to thank all of you who made my last two years in a completely different school the most fun I ever had :) Pai e mãe: Obrigado por sempre estar comigo em cada etapa do colégio e me ajudar, o máximo possível, na adaptação às escolas novas em dois países diferentes, mesmo tendo coisas mais importantes a fazer.

Plans After Chapel: Attending university
Here I am, ending one of the longest and most important cycles of life. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the assistance of my friends and family. Although Chapel has been like a second home to me, I am anxious for what the future holds. To the Math (LIFE) Buddies: While I am sure I’ll miss having your daily presence, I can’t say I will miss having to teach you guys math! Thank you for always being there for me and lending me a shoulder, even in the hardest times. To the members of the Lil’Server: Who could have imagined that such a genuine relationship would have emerged from such a late night. CS: GO match? You guys welcomed me with such open arms that I try to replicate this same sympathy on a daily basis. Thank you for showing me true kindness. I can’t imagine what would have been of life without the times you guys accommodated me. To the members of “O Famoso Fut”: As a child, I loved football. Thank you for reigniting this fire and showing me how marvelous this sport is. And most importantly, thank you for sharing beautiful moments with me outside the field. Many BBQs after our matches are still to come! To the Class of 2023: I wish all of you the best of luck for the future!

PDF: Boys, thank you so much for everything you’ve done for me in our time together. I have wonderful memories with all of you that I will hopefully talk to my kids about in the future. These years would not be the same if all of you hadn’t been present. The best thing that happened to me at Chapel was knowing that the friends I made are the ones I will carry with me my whole life.

I have been here since I was five. I grew up here – Chapel is a second home. Saying goodbye to a place that has been so fundamental during my development as a person makes my heart heavy. Ma: You’re the most loyal person I know. I’ll always be there for you just like I know I can always count on you to do the same. Rebs: Thank you for watching stupid cartoons I like just so I could have someone to talk to about them. Can’t wait to see you become the new Greta Gerwig. I’m your #1 fan. Teddy bears: It wouldn’t matter if we talked everyday or if we never spoke again, you’ll always have a special place in my heart. But don’t stop talking to me, I’d miss you too much. The care you show to each of your students is inspiring. You made me feel seen and heard. Mr. Talarico: Thank you for trusting me and supporting me. You’re an incredible teacher and made bio a class I could always look forward to. Mr. Weaver: I’ll miss you. Also, sorry for being late more than I arrived on time. Chapel teachers and staff, none of us would have made it this far without you. Thank you. IB: Thanks for getting me into college. I guess the trauma was worth it. Class of 2023: Congrats! We did it!

Antonio Pedro Cuiabano Esteves
Continue assim! Te amo. Jay

Filho querido: Você me enche de orgulho TODOS os dias. Lindo, inteligente, esforçado e dedicado. Brilha em tudo o que faz. Ilumina-se quando joga basquete. Dedicado ao STUCO, MUN e NHS. Você é nota 1000! Aproveite as suas conquistas com juízo. Be wise, be smart.

Princesa, has sido y serás mi gran orgullo.
Be bold GUI!
Agora on to a bigger and more exciting journey, uma que eu tenho certeza que vai te trazer muita felicidade. Eu te amo além desse mundo. You’re stuck with me forever buddy. Love, Bella :)

Mommy
Daughter, I am very happy and proud of this important achievement of yours! I wish, from the bottom of my heart, that you now start a beautiful journey towards a career that brings you much knowledge, prosperity and meaning! Enjoy the ride! Love, Daddy.
Marina Santos Pinto Silva
Martin Enrique Castellanos Garcia
Querido Martin,
Matheus Bretas Costa
Mathias Reimer
Dear Mathias,
Along with all your accomplishments, I'm proud of the person you have become. You care about people, about justice and about right values. I'm sure you'll do wonderful things in your life. Love you always,

Mathias, I've never seen someone work as hard as you and stay so calm, go out with friends and sail. You make it look easy. I can tell you're going far in life and am so proud of you, bro. Congratulations!

Eu te amo e desejo toda a felicidade do mundo.

I congratulate you on graduating, and I hope after you graduate you get a job, get your money, have a nice life and stay happy. Mirela

Patrick Cam Manente Benutti

As a little kid you were a bundle of electricity, always exuberant and joyful, always ready to play or dance or jump or run. And then later on, you channeled that love of games into sports, never missing a practice or a game because it was your “favorite thing in the world.” Now you’ll take all that vitality and use it to do good things in the world. We are so proud of you. You are kind and funny and loving. And you will always be my precious golden girl. I love you. Your Mama.
Sophya Pozzetti de Souza
Super Sophya,

Vale, te vamos a extrañar mucho. - Na

ART LAB
Advisor: Ms. Sylvia Almeida
The Art Lab is an opportunity for students in the High School to produce artwork that will support them in their other subjects or, simply, satisfy their passion for art. The choice of materials is the students’, but if they are not sure what to choose, they will receive suggestions from the advisor. It is also an opportunity for other Chapel clubs and organizations to produce artwork for props, boards or boxes! Also, Art Lab hours count for CAS as Creativity. Every student from Chapel High School is welcome to come whenever they want! In Art Lab students’ paintings, drawings, woodburning, jewelry, are just some of the things that students may produce. Members of the Art Lab during the 2022-2023 school year: Allegra Ribeiro, Alma Castañares, Ana Luisa Neves, Antonia Vilain, Arthur Camargo, Bernardo Dagnoni, Bianca Ludgero, Catarina Caram, Catarina Soares, Fernanda Baldy de Sousa, Flavia Faria, Gabriela Figueiredo, Guilhermina Santos, Hanna Joo, Henry Jangkyun Joo, Isabela Maesano, Isabela Paraskevopoulos, Isabela Prata, Jose Antonio Rivas, Julia Segui, Juliana Baldy de Sousa, Juliana Kouri, Juliette Dubaere, Lara Cavalcanti, Lara Zwecker, Laura Santiago, Lina Mantegazza, Lorena Cardoso, Luca Menezes, Lucas Inglesi, Lucca Jorge, Lucca Leoni, Luisa de Marchi, Marcel Moura, Maria Clara Rodrigues, Maria Daló, Maria Eduarda Neves, Maria Eduarda Oliveira, Maria Eduarda Salgado, Maria Estela Menegatti, Maria Fernanda Oliveira, Maria Sophia Claro, Mariana Peña, Miguel Hofke, Renata Papaleo, Sofia Campos, Sophia Hirschfeld, Sophia Oliveira, Sophya Souza, Stella Baines, Stephanie Raposo, Theo Lemos, and Valentina Anzanello.

The Drama Club aims to provide students with the opportunity to express their talents through the performing arts and to develop oral communication, body language and public speaking skills. Students also develop creativity, empathy, self-esteem, and an appreciation for arts and collaborative teamwork. This year Drama Club had a few meetings to build our team and then we quickly started our auditions for this year’s musical: The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. Rehearsals started at the end of the first semester and continued until the April presentations. We are incredibly proud of all of our members for their dedication and collective spirit. GLEE CLUB
Advisor: Mr. Caio Oliveira
The Glee Club is a space for singers to find their own voice, develop friendships with other members of the group, create a bond across grade levels, and express themselves in harmony with others. In Glee, they develop and practice the skills of cooperation and collaboration, as well as contribute to the group effort in learning new music. We perform in school events such as the Christmas Bazaar, International Festival, recitals, 'Saraus', and we also support the Drama Club with a choir whenever needed. The Glee Club sang in all ‘Casual Fridays’ performances in the library and performed a Christmas-themed concert for all elementary students during our Chapel Day celebration. KINO - FILM PRODUCTION CLUB
Advisor: Mr. Jean Silva
The Kino Film Club is inspired by the Kino Project, “film-making movement that advocates the production of short-films on little to no budget." This experience helped us realize the amount of sacrifice that goes into producing films. From brainstorming the argument to showing the movie, going through writing the script, choosing the shots, casting the actors, filming the scenes, editing the footage, and composing the score, we were able to devote ourselves to the art of filmmaking. Kino started a new script because there were several new members. This production is close to being filmed and edited. Kino also had the opportunity to have a workshop in documentary photography with a professional from Warner Brothers. Members during the 2022-2023 school year: Daniel Agapito, Gabriel Fernandes, Isabela Maesano, Julia Bavaresco, Julia Segui, Lara Cavalcanti, Marta Castro, Sofia Campos, and Valentina Anzanello.

MODEL UNITED NATIONS

Model United Nations (MUN) aims to promote awareness of global issues through the simulation of the United Nations and related international organizations. Students met every Friday after school throughout the year to practice debates on controversial issues, to conduct research on current political events, and to practice speaking and writing. Both semesters, Chapel hosted an internal conference, CHAMUN, during which students discussed and debated different topics. The first semester the topic was the “Global Illegal Arms Trade”, and the second topic was “The Rising Tension between China and Taiwan”. Students also participated and succeeded in a number of external conferences at Avenues, St. Nicholas, and BRAMUN in Bahia. At AVEMUN, Marina Silva, Martin Castellanos, and Lorenzo Perrotti served as Chairs. We also had Gabriel Fernandes win best delegate and Luca Perrotti win Most Outstanding Delegate. The 2022-23 term was especially important as all events were brought back after the pandemic. The group hopes to continue building school spirit meeting by meeting and event by event. Seeing students happy is what fuels their passion. Events created by StuCo include the Book Fair’s Sebo, the Halloween Haunted House and Parade, Spirit Week, Pep Rally, as well as activities during events such as the International Festival and Festa Junina. WONDERS OF SCIENCE CLUB
Advisor: Mr. Leonardo Silveira
Wonders of Science is a club about scientific thinking that explores how we can apply the great discoveries of science in our everyday lives with practical experiments. This is a club created by students and for students, in which discussion of ideas, logical thinking, creativity and freedom of thought are encouraged. The club provides opportunities to students to understand the phenomenon of nature in a fun, safe and relaxed environment. During this school year we explored parts of all of the three main fields of science: Chemistry, biology, and physics. We carried out such experiments as lighting fires of different colors, levitating plastic bags with static electricity, instantly solidifying liquids, turning pennies into gold, and much more. Through art activities students were able to explore their creativity and imagination. Students used different materials and techniques to create amazing works of art. ECEC students were introduced to different art elements, expanded their art vocabulary, and learned about new artists. Well done, my beloved students. Keep up the incredible work!
Ms. Camila Costa
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL ART
Art classes are so much fun and creative, as students in Elementary School have the opportunity to explore and learn about all the elements of art: line, color, texture, space, value, form, shape. They also develop different skills such as painting, drawing, collage, mixed media, and art appreciation. Students have many opportunities to express themselves through art. The Art Hut is a magical place, where they get the chance to immerse themselves in an art environment and experience.

HIGH SCHOOL ART
Our year for High School Art was super productive and creative in all our grade levels! The 7th Graders really improved their shading skills with the great interdisciplinary project of landscapes paintings inspired by the poem by Robert Frost and the photos by Du Zuppani adding a touch of gold to something precious for them. It is like an explosion of colors! Our 8th Graders impressed everyone with their glazed ceramic pieces where they learned about how the clay must be treated before putting it in the kiln for the first fire, and then applying glaze to the sculptures and having them ready for the second fire at 1200°C. Hot Hot Hot! The 9th and 10th Graders explored mixed media projects in their Integrated Art class by displaying projects of great importance and creating more awareness of differences – always with empathy! Our 9th and 10th Graders in Elective Art had an incredible journey towards a more intensive course where some of the great results were the portraits of different ethnicities done using dry materials, pencils, coloring pencils and oil pastels. All resulted in amazing compositions. And, of course, the IB Art students starting in 11th Grade with such incredible art pieces and very deep concepts, besides creative use of materials! Everything they do is supported by their individual research in the Investigation Books, and the intensive writing of the Comparative Studies, where students researched and compared at least three artworks of their choices. Nevertheless, the conclusion of the IB Art exhibition in 12th Grade was amazing and happened in the covered area of our beloved Chapel School. Thank you, my dear students, and congratulations on all your hard work! Remember that everything can be seen in our fantastic High School Art site! With love, Ms. Sylvia Almeida
