Father Lindomar Felix da Silva OMI, Provincial of Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in Brazil
D
ear readers of Inside Chapel magazine, it is with great joy that I write to you on this occasion to present another issue of this newsletter that comes to your hands. This is a very special edition, as we are celebrating ten years of communication with the people who enjoy the services of Chapel School and who, since the emergence of this means of communication, have been able to follow more closely the daily life of this institution, a pioneer in what it aims to offer in our country. As a cover interview, you will have the opportunity to learn a little about the life of writer Ignácio de Loyola Brandão, who recounts the beautiful saga of his life from childhood until his induction as a member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters. Much more than simply transmitting the content from textbooks, Chapel has always taken into account the importance of encouraging the creativity of their students, in other words, letting them give wings to their imagination. That is one of the things that stands out at Chapel, because, far beyond curricular content, our students always come out of our school with something else, which in today’s job market makes a difference, and you will also have the opportunity to read about that. And along the same lines of the imagination that help us reach for success, we will have a great reflection from Antonio Torres, who uses simple language to show us the art that lies behind those who can convey a beautiful message by the gift of words. Then we will have the opportunity to get to know a little about the magnificent humanitarian work that will surely touch your hearts, since it has brought hope, faith, and joy to many patients all over Brazil. I am talking about the work of Wellington Nogueira, founder of Associação Doutores da Alegria, who will tell us a little about his beautiful work in hospitals in our country. We will also see in this issue an interview with a former Chapel student who has an extensive curriculum despite his young age. Also, the most beautiful thing is to be able to see that it was made possible thanks to the entire cultural and educational framework that our teaching institution offered him. In the artistic part of our newsletter, we will enjoy the success of the musical Beauty and the Beast enacted by our students, and another success already established at our institution, the Art Show, which took place between October 17 and 23, 2019. In addition, we want to emphasize one more innovation that will surely change the lives of our students for the better, which is the change our web portal is going through. We do this because we know it is essential to monitor the novelties of the advertising market so that our students are up to date with all innovations. We always keep in mind that these resources must be transformed into an improvement in the quality of teaching that is offered to them. And there is more! At the end of last year, Chapel started a partnership with the NBA, which is the largest basketball league in the world, to provide our students with the opportunity to be immersed into the pedagogical methodology of the greatest and best experts in this sport. This shows why we are a school ahead of our time, which teaches in the present moment and thinks towards the future. Lastly, we will look at the Talents and Passions section, which in this edition will pay tribute to the immortal Ignacio de Loyola Brandão, thus publishing texts by ten students who were awarded at the Encontro Literário promoted by Chapel, since we are an institution that fosters in its student body the pleasure and enjoyment of reading and writing. I wish you all a great reading, and may God richly bless the school year of our students. Kind regards and may God be with you.
