One of Europe’s largest and most important waterside regeneration schemes, Liverpool Waters has been unanimously granted outline planning consent for a 1,700,000m² development by the local council. Envisaged is a world-class, mixed-use waterfront environment which will help Liverpool compete economically with cities such as Hamburg, Barcelona, Boston and Toronto.

Chapman Taylor undertook the overall masterplanning for this groundbreaking project, and have continued to be involved in realising several of the plots.

THE OAKS

PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC

HIGH QUALITY APARTMENTS AND LUXURY VILLAS INTEGRATED INTO THE LANDSCAPE. Oaks Prague is a new residential and leisure community in the Czech Republic. Situated in the beautiful Czech countryside, yet only half an hour from central Prague, this high-quality development is designed to suit the needs of those who value country living within touching distance of the Capital. Chapman Taylor took charge of design management for the overall project, as well as designing luxury village-centre apartments, a kindergarten and ancillary buildings for the 18-hole PGA golf course.

 The residential community is designed for buyers who want a countryside environment close to the Capital.

 150 luxury villas and 105 highquality apartments are included in the development.

 The 140 hectare countryside site sits only half an hour from central Prague.

ALTSTADTQUARTIER BÜCHEL AACHEN, GERMANY

A SENSITIVE REGENERATION OF A CENTRAL QUARTER. Transforming a central quarter of the historic city of Aachen, the regeneration of Altstadtquartier Büchel involves the provision of residential apartments with views of the spires of the town hall and cathedral. Chapman Taylor’s competition-winning design creates a thriving, mixed-use district through the redesign of a medieval area to include new streets, public squares, housing, office, retail and a kindergarten. The Düsseldorf studio has responsibility for masterplanning.

 The redesign creates a vibrant mixed-use environment in sympathy with its historic context.

 Apartments are built to ensure natural light all year, and views of the town’s historic spires.  The 2.7 hectare site sits adjacent to the cathedral, one of the original 12 UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

SHANGHAI MEDIA CITY SHANGHAI, CHINA

 A new media city for Shanghai fronting the Huangpu River.

 Walk-friendly and sustainable, the new media city contains a diverse mix of amenities.  The 280 hectare site incorporates new transport infrastructure to serve a series of well-provisioned neighbourhoods.

Situated on a 3,000,000m² site fronting the Huangpu River, Shanghai Media City is a comprehensive media production and broadcast facility which provides a mix of residential, leisure and work activities. The masterplan envisages a series of neighbourhoods with office, retail, education and hospitality provision around open parks and waterways, all served by a hierarchical transport infrastructure of roads, tramways, cycle and pedestrian routes.

Chapman Taylor, having won a prestigious competition to design a second central business district for Shanghai, is responsible for masterplanning and concept design, with BREEAM Sustainable Communities guidance central to the scheme.

Planned as a modern Garden City in the heart of Moscow, I-Land fronts the River Moskva, close to the ‘Dream Island’ amusement park development set to open in 2018. The masterplan entails a 570,000m² residential-led, mixed-use development, designed to be one of the most attractive places to live and work in Moscow. Chapman Taylor proposed the masterplan concept and set out urban and building parameters for future development.

ISSYK KUL KYRGYZSTAN

A NEW ECO-DESTINATION FOR KYRGYZSTAN. A new resort town on the eastern shore of the biodiverse Lake Issyk Kul - once a stopover for traders on the ancient Silk Road. Combining leisure, entertainment, hospitality, education and agricultural production in a landscape sympathetic to the area’s outstanding beauty, the resort is designed to become a major international destination for eco-tourists.

Chapman Taylor developed the masterplan for this multi-use project beside a historically and ecologically significant lake.

 The masterplan proposes to keep denser development inland, respecting the lakeside environment.

GUISHAN ISLAND ZHUHAI, CHINA

Located between Zhuhai and Hong Kong in China, the Guishan Island development envisages two commercial and tourist resorts designed in a manner which respects local culture and environment. Chapman Taylor provided masterplanning services for this project, which will be used by local government as a guideline for planning and designing future resort developments in the region.

EAST KIDWAI NAGAR NEW DELHI, INDIA

CHAPMAN TAYLOR’S LARGEST EVER RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT. Among 1,350,000m² of mixed-use provision in south-central Delhi, over 4,700 new apartments are being constructed. The shopping centre, senior secondary school and the banquet hall all run entirely on green energy, via grid-connected rooftop solar panels. Chapman Taylor was responsible for the masterplan, design and implementation of the project.

The scheme won a 5-star award for ‘Best Public Service Architecture in India’ at the 2017-18 International Asia Pacific Property Awards. East Kidwai Nagar has also been included in the Indian government’s ‘Smart City Guidelines’, and the Indian government’s National Buildings Construction Corporation showcased the project at the COP21 climate change conference in Paris in December 2015.

MEDIACITYUK

SALFORD, MANCHESTER, UK

THE WORLD’S FIRST BREEAM SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY.

MediaCityUK is the most significant media development that the UK has seen in decades, becoming home to the BBC and ITV, as well as the University of Salford’s Media Faculty, the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, and over 200 creative, digital and tech support SMEs. Two residential towers provide 378 high-quality units, including studios, apartments and penthouses. Also incorporated are a 200-key hotel, speculative office buildings, a site-wide tri-generation energy centre, retail and catering outlets and a multi-storey car park. Chapman Taylor acted as lead architect for phase one of this £500m project. MediaCityUK is the world’s first BREEAM Sustainable Community, incorporating pioneering sustainable design across the entire site. It won the Regeneration Project of the Year award at the MIPIM UK Awards, 2015. Chapman Taylor is continuing to work with Peel Media and L&G Capital on the masterplan for phase two, and on building designs which include 1,800 further residential units.

42 MASLAK

MASLAK, ISTANBUL

An ambitious, mixed-use development on a sloping site in the northern outskirts of European Istanbul, two 42-storey towers stand at the heart of the development. These house four office buildings, 442 residential apartments, 16 penthouses, a 42-shop mall, F&B outlets and an art gallery. Chapman Taylor served as project architects, designing both the office/residential elements and the retail/entertainment attractions.

The first office buildings opened in 2013, Tower 1 and more offices in 2014, Tower 2 in 2015, and the retail/entertainment areas are open in 2017. 42 Maslak is Turkey’s first commercial office project to receive LEED Platinum certification for the Core & Shell category.

 A communication spine connects all parts of the development.  The 42 Maslak development has transformed the economy and social life in the Maslak area of Istanbul.  Two 42-storey towers home offices, as well as high-quality offices and residential units.

ST MARK’S LINCOLN, UK

A £170m scheme to redevelop Lincoln St Marks shopping precinct which sees existing retail transformed within a comprehensive mixed-use space. Providing 150 new residential units, 1,100 student residences, a hotel of up to 130 rooms and a car park of up to 1,100 spaces, the project introduces new shops, new retailers and new public spaces - creating up to 2,000 jobs.

Chapman Taylor created the masterplan and design for the planning application, which received unanimous approval from Lincoln’s council in June 2017.

PRINCESSHAY EXETER, UK

A UNIQUE CONSERVATION AREA RETAIL AND RESIDENTIAL CITY CENTRE DEVELOPMENT. Princesshay is a multi-award-winning, mixeduse city-centre scheme, completed in 2007. It hosts over 17.4 million visitors per year, drawn to its 60 stores, 12,000m² department store, five restaurants, and a heritage visitors’ centre. 121 residential apartments overlook the streets below, accessed by private courtyards on top of the retail. Chapman Taylor produced the masterplan, the detailed design for the central position of the site, the employers’ requirements, and delivery for the entire development as monitoring architect.

Princesshay is rated as BREEAM ‘Very Good’ for sustainability. Awards include the BCSC ‘Supreme Gold Award’ in 2007, Retail Week’s ‘Shopping Location of the Year’ in 2008 and the ICSC ‘Best Medium-Sized Shopping Centre in Europe’ award in 2008.

 Modern retail provision is sympathetically blended into the city’s historic setting.  121 residential units with outside spaces overlook the streets below.

GLOBAL HARBOR SHANGHAI, CHINA

One of the largest mixed-use, retail-led schemes in the world, Global Harbor is a 480,000m² commercial complex in central Shanghai, sitting on an important transport hub. 400 brands have leased retail units within a 270,000m² shopping centre which incorporates a major cultural heritage component. Two 245 metre-high towers house offices, apartments and a hotel. This project was one of Chapman Taylor’s largest, on which the London and Shanghai offices collaborated for over six years. Global Harbor won the ‘Best Retail Architecture in the World’ award at the International Property Awards, 2014-15, and was the winning scheme in China’s prestigious ‘Real Estate Design Awards 2015-16’.

PLAZA GRAFINGER STRASSE MUNICH, GERMANY

THE CENTREPIECE DEVELOPMENT IN A NEW, UP-ANDCOMING DISTRICT OF MUNICH. PLAZA Grafinger Strasse will be the central development in a new district in Munich, on a former industrial site within the inner ring. A local shopping centre occupies most of the ground floor, while separate buildings with various functions complete the block perimeter on the upper levels. The individual buildings are occupied by a hotel, extended-stay apartments, offices and a fitness and sports medicine building, over which a climbing centre cantilevers. Chapman Taylor's Düsseldorf studio designed this central piece of the area's regeneration. The new zoning plan for the Werksviertel district has been approved by the City of Munich, with construction commencing in 2017.

RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA

FLEXIBLE RETAIL IN DOWNTOWN RIYADH. This mixed-use development in Riyadh incorporates a mall, retail units, offices and a 4-Star hotel. Designed on a theme of ‘urban downtown’, the retail delivery is flexible and adaptable to changes in market demand. The local climate and local building materials are central to planning Al Hamra’s delivery.

Streetscape edging, internal and external, provides a pleasant public realm for visitors to enjoy. Chapman Taylor is the concept masterplanner on this luxury scheme in the Saudi capital.

 Al Hamra provides a mixeduse retail, leisure and office offering in central Riyadh.

 A diagonal street through the complex provides a shaded link between all amenities.

 A strategic corner-site of 93,000m² includes 60,000m² of retail and leisure.

ROYAL EXCHANGE BELFAST, UK

The Royal Exchange project is a major mixeduse urban regeneration development of a prime site in the north east quarter of Belfast city centre. The scheme includes premium brand shops, bars, restaurants and a new department store, with offices, hotels and residential at the upper levels. A number of listed and non-listed buildings are being refurbished, and a significant number of new buildings are being added.

MALL OF QATAR DOHA, QATAR

Opened at the end of 2016, the award-winning Mall of Qatar in Doha has an estimated 20 million visitors per year. At the mall’s core is a landscaped 30 metre-high atrium looking on to a 360 degree, custom-developed revolving and multi-lift stage. With over 500 shops and 100 F&B outlets, a 19-screen cinema with the largest IMAX Laser 3D projection system in the world, a 10-lane bowling alley and a family entertainment centre, the complex offers a world-class range of retail and leisure options.

Chapman Taylor’s Madrid studio was lead designer on the Mall of Qatar, designing both architecture and interiors. The development, the size of 50 FIFA football pitches, won the ‘International Retail and Leisure Destination’ award for 2017 at the Global RLI Awards.

MORE THAN A SHOPPING CENTRE, MEGA SILK WAY IS A COMMUNITY HUB AND NATIONAL EMBLEM.  Mega Silk Way has become a Kazakh national emblem.

 The retaillined routes are designed as a reflection of the ancient Silk Road journey.

Kazakhstan’s largest shopping centre, Mega Silk Way is the gateway development to the EXPO 2017 site. Containing the country’s most extensive range of shopping and entertainment facilities, the scheme includes restaurants, a food court, cinemas (including an IMAX screen) and an ice rink. Leading to this multi-event space are two long and winding, retail-lined ‘racetracks’. The complex is Astana’s major family attraction.

  Included within the framework of EXPO 2017, Mega Silk Way acts as a gateway to the EXPO site.

GANJLIK MALL BAKU, AZERBAIJAN

AZERBAIJAN’S LARGEST SHOPPING CENTRE. Ganjlik Mall is Azerbaijan’s largest shopping centre, arranged around a dramatic four-storey atrium which floods the entire mall with natural light. Located just north of Baku city centre, the mall has direct access to the busy Ganjlik metro and bus stations. Complementing the retail and food/beverage offering, the leisure attractions include a multiplex cinema, a bowling alley and a family entertainment centre.

GROZNY MALL AND KAUSAR PARK GROZNY, RUSSIA

THE LARGEST SHOPPING CENTRE IN THE REGION. Grozny Mall is the largest shopping mall in the south of Russia, bringing together famous retail brands within a 132,000m² floor-space. A hypermarket, food court and restaurants will complement the retail offering, while leisure facilities will include an IMAX cinema and a children’s entertainment area. Underground parking will provide space for 1,200 cars. It is anticipated that Grozny Mall will create 2,000 new jobs upon completion. Kausar Park covers approximately 20 hectares, and includes a riverside, an amphitheatre, pavilions, a Ferris wheel and kids’ entertainment features.

One of Vienna’s largest shopping centres, Huma Eleven opened in March 2016 and attracted 110,000 visitors in the first three days. The original 1970s shopping centre was demolished in two stages, accompanied by the construction of a temporary mall to allow existing retailers to continue operating while the new centre was built. Two storeys house 60 retail and food outlets, totalling 30,000m² GLA. Stage two of the project added a further 20,000m² GLA, and was opened in September 2017. Chapman Taylor’s Düsseldorf studio is responsible for general planning, including architectural design, landscaping and interior, and acts as lead design architect during the construction phases.

Jiangnan Global Harbor is an award-winning entertainment and leisure-led development in Changzhou, in the prosperous province of Jiangsu. One of the world’s largest retail schemes, over 1,000 retail and leisure outlets operate on five levels around an Art Deco-style entertainment atrium. More shops, a theme park based on ‘Ports of the World’ and two new tower buildings for offices, apartments and a hotel will be added in the next stage of development.

Chapman Taylor acted as lead architect on Jiangnan Global Harbor, one of the largest developments of its kind in the world. The scheme won China’s ‘Best Retail Architecture’ and ‘Best Mixed-Use Interior’ at the Asia Pacific International Property Awards, 2017.

MANDARIN ORIENTAL RETAIL STORES THAILAND

THE FOREFRONT OF MANDARIN ORIENTAL'S NEW RETAIL STRATEGY. At the forefront of the Mandarin Oriental’s new retail strategy, four Mandarin Oriental shops ranging in size from 75m² to 180m² have been created in four shopping malls. The shops are combined retail, food and beverage outlets, and the bespoke interior design reflects the hotel’s unique offering of signature colonial-era hospitality.

The store design has been very well received by both client and customers, and the project is now expanding to other locations across SE Asia. Chapman Taylor’s Bangkok studio acted as interior designer on the project. The design of the retail stores for Mandarin Oriental won the 2014 award for Best Leisure Interiors in Thailand at the International Property Awards, Asia.

Overlooking the River Manzanares, Plaza Rio 2 is a retail and leisure project which provides a mix of fashion, food, restaurants and entertainment in one of Madrid's largest shopping centres. Sustainability is a key aim of the design, and advanced energy-saving systems are installed to this end. Chapman Taylor’s Madrid studio designed the architecture and interiors for Plaza Rio 2.

Two floors of new shops, restaurants, a nine-screen cinema, a food court and other facilities extend the existing commercial area from 8,000m² to more than 29,000m².

TRINITY LEEDS, UK

WINNER OF THE ICSC'S GLOBAL RECON VIVA 'BEST OF THE BEST' DESIGNED SHOPPING CENTRE IN THE WORLD AWARD.

 The innovative ‘Trinity Kitchen’ is an indoor streetfood venue, part of the 25% of space given over to food and leisure.  Naturallyventillated and naturally-lit, Trinity Leeds is also BREEAM ‘Excellent’ for sustainability.

The multi-award-winning Trinity Leeds centre opened in October 2013, attracting over 23 million visitors in its first year. The 76,000m² development houses shops, bars, restaurants and a cinema in an all-day, all-evening venue. 25% of the total space is dedicated to food and leisure, including rooftop dining terraces, basement cocktail bars and a pioneering indoor street-food venue, ‘Trinity Kitchen’. A selfsupporting grid-shell glazed roof rises 30.5 metres above street level. Chapman Taylor’s brief in designing and delivering Leeds Trinity was to unite three of Leeds’ busiest thoroughfares around a new central space, including the refurbishment of an existing shopping centre. The development is rated BREEAM ‘Excellent’ for sustainability. Among its many awards, Leeds Trinity was ‘Global ICSC RECON VIVA ‘Best of the Best’designed shopping centre in the world in 2015, and ‘Best Retail Estate Development in City Centre’ at the prestigious MAPIC Awards, 2013.

ASHFORD DESIGNER OUTLET KENT, UK

 The longest living wall in Europe clads the exterior throughout the extension.

 Ashford Designer Outlet’s extension adds 38 retail and leisure units.

This extension to the existing designer outlet adds 38 retail and leisure units to the 80 units already operating, as well as a new events space and a children’s play area. Links to Ashford town centre are being improved to facilitate the whole scheme. Chapman Taylor designed the new extension alongside Applied Landscape Design. The extension is expected to add a further 500 employees to the current 1,000.

WESTGATE OXFORD, UK

The £440 million development of the Westgate shopping centre boosts a tired area and transforms the existing centre into a 176,000m² retail and leisure destination. The anchor tenant, John Lewis, and a diverse mix of over 100 stores, 25 restaurants and leisure facilities, are connected via a clear pedestrian circuit.

Chapman Taylor is the delivery architect on Westgate. It developed the scheme, in conjunction with Laing O’Rourke’s engineering excellence group, using BIM – enabling direct data transfer of pre-cast façade, structure and core designs into fabrication software used in off-site manufacturing facilities.

THE LEXICON BRACKNELL, UK

A VIBRANT, MIXEDUSE ENVIRONMENT LINING OPEN AND COVERED PUBLIC STREETS. The Lexicon provides a vibrant, mixed-use environment including 70 retail, food and leisure units and a 1,300-space car park. With restaurants and bars fronting brand new public squares, and a new 12-screen Cineworld cinema in place, the area is designed to remain a popular destination late into the evening. The project is part of a £240 million scheme by Bracknell Regeneration Partnership to transform the town centre, with 60,000m² of new retail and leisure provision. Chapman Taylor planned and designed one of the two key components of the plan, at Charles Square – connecting the brand new ‘Northern Quarter’ to the existing Princess Square Centre. Providing a revolutionary cinematic experience which stimulates all five senses, London's first 4DX cinema includes high-tech motion seats and special effects including wind, fog, lightning, bubbles, water, rain and scents, in both 2D and 3D formats. Cineworld Wandsworth also includes the first largeformat cinema ‘Superscreen’ in London, complete with 4K Dual projectors and an immersive sound system from Dolby ATMOS. Cineworld Wandsworth’s renovation by Chapman Taylor was completed in 2017, introducing London to a new and transformative cinematic experience.

A central ‘flame’ tower completes eight angled glass façades inspired by the eight-point star on Azerbaijan’s national flag.

GLOBAL 100 HAINAN, CHINA

A NEW WORLD-CLASS THEME PARK. Global 100 is a mixed-use, leisure, retail, hospitality and residential scheme over 400 hectares in Haikou, on Hainan Island, China. It is designed to rival existing globally famous attractions offered by Disney and other entertainment industry leaders. It consists of six different villages, each influenced by international film-making attractions from China, Europe and America.

DREAM ISLAND THEME PARK MOSCOW, RUSSIA

A MAJOR LEISURE DESTINATION, SIMILAR TO DISNEY, IN THE HEART OF MOSCOW. A major redevelopment of the Soviet-era Nagatino Park in central Moscow, Dream Island is designed as the first large-scale leisure destination in Russia, expected to be visited by up to four million people annually. In addition to a large indoor amusement park, the riverfronted scheme provides a regional shopping centre, outdoor leisure facilities, a 400-key 4-Star hotel, a concert hall, a yacht club, and F&B facilities.

Chaman Taylor proposed the masterplan and concept design for this project. The development is currently being built with full support from both the government and the public.

 A ‘Wonderland’style of architecture is based upon both historic Kremlin and western Gothic styles.  The Disneyscale attraction is designed to attract up to four million visitors per year.

LØRENSKOG WINTER VILLAGE NORWAY

Selvaag's ski arena gives summer skiing access to local people as well as elite athletes who need year-round training. The 140,000m² Skihallen complex houses a 37,000m² ski resort, with cross-country trails are built over three floors, giving skiers a total of 3,000 metres of cross-country skiing. The facility also includes a conference hotel with 350 rooms, a service

centre for skis and equipment, service rooms for clubs and teams, classrooms and offices, as well as commercial premises and a sports academy for Norwegian ski sports. Chapman Taylor designed the masterplan in collaboration with the renowned Norwegian architect Prof. Thomas Thiis-Evensen.

A LANDMARK MIXED-USE CENTRE IN THE NEW DEVELOPMENT AREA OF LINGANG, SHANGHAI. Dishui Lake International Conference Centre is located in Lingang, the new development area of Shanghai. An innovative and flexible mixed-use scheme combines state-of-the-art conference facilities with grade 5A offices, a 5-star hotel and complementary commercial amenities. Distinctive twin-tower forms and a modular horizontal podium create a striking centre-piece for the new development. Sustainability is the core of the design, maximising energy efficiency and eliminating water waste. Chapman Taylor proposed the architectural concept for the International Conference Centre. Port Baku Tower is a high-rise office complex on the Bay of Baku, with two towers providing 14 and 32 storeys of office and commercial space. Designed for Pasha Construction, the office tower has housed their corporate headquarters since 2011. The 120 metre-tall building provides state-of-the-art office space, a large spa, indoor and outdoor swimming pools and sports amenities. Chapman Taylor took the project from concept all the way through to delivery, setting a new standard for office space in Azerbaijan.

 The sustainablydesigned Building A has been rated BREEAM ‘Excellent’.

FLEXIBLE CLASS A OFFICE SPACE TARGETED AT THE IT AND FINANCIAL SERVICES SECTORS. Oregon Park is a sustainably-designed office space tailored specifically to tenant requirements. Building A provides 20,000m² of offices, and is occupied by the US IT giant, Oracle. The interior design was specified by the company’s employees. Building B provides a further 24,000m² of office space, and is occupied by Deloitte and several tenants working in digital industries. Chapman Taylor was the concept planner and lead architect, and also provided detailed Author’s Site Inspections.

HIGH-QUALITY, SUSTAINABLE OFFICE PROVISION FOR BUCHAREST. The Bluerose Office Park development comprises three separate and self-contained office buildings set over a shared two-level basement parking structure. Building 1 has five floors, Building 2 has eight and Building 3 has nine. Commercial/retail units complement the office provision. The urban scale represents a transitional zone between low-level residential villas to the south and east and the larger-scale buildings in the RomExpo area and the City Gate towers.

ETHOS

WARSAW, POLAND

Ethos is a new mixed-use, retail and office scheme on the historic Royal Route in Warsaw. It creates a perfectly-situated business centre, with 17,000m² of mixed-use space, adding a five-storey office and retail extension on the east side towards the Vistula River. A luxury commercial retail space includes an internal mezzanine and an eight-metre-high glazed frontage onto Three Crosses Square, with the aim of becoming Warsaw’s first truly high-end fashion and retail destination.

AIRPORT CITY

DÜSSELDORF, GERMANY

Chapman Taylor's designed three office buildings as part of the Airport City complex immediately next to Düsseldorf Airport. The first of these, completed in 2009, is AirGate, containing seven floors of excellent office space incorporating two fully-glazed, three-storey glass cubes. An innovative heating and cooling system was built into the building’s concrete frame. AirPark, completed in 2015, has six floors of office space located next to an idyllic park and within walking distance of the airport terminal. Also opened in 2015 was AirView, a seven-storey office building designed with employee comfort in mind. The building is triple-glazed from the ground floor up and state-of-the-art heating and cooling systems are installed. Chapman Taylor was responsible for the design of these three office blocks – at AirGate in conjunction with AIP Consulting Düsseldorf, and at AirPark and AirView in association with AIP Planungs GmbH.

This award-winning new home for the senior management of the Bestech group is designed in an abstracted form of an unfolded lotus flower. With sustainability at the heart of design principles, the scheme is soon to be awarded Platinum LEED certification. The concept design was produced in Chapman Taylor’s London studio, and the schematic design was undertaken by its India studio.  The building is an unmissable landmark by Madrid’s M30.  The fresh design incorporates the original ‘cube’ theme.

Los Cubos’s refurbishment adds fresh character to a 1970s office building while retaining the distinctive ‘cubicle’ theme of the original branding. Los Cubos contains nine floors of office space, totalling 32,000m², and sits next to the busy M30 motorway. Chapman Taylor’s Madrid studio won a competition to refurbish Los Cubos in 2015, with planning approval achieved in 2017.

A huge residential project in Luoyang, in the western Henan province of central China, Dennis Juizhou City also includes a 230,000m² shopping centre, a shopping street as well as offices, a business centre and a hotel. Phase one of the 1,600,000m² masterplan, launched in April 2015, is a 570,000m² residential area (the total residential provision after phase two being 1,000,000m²). Chapman Taylor’s Shanghai studio masterplanned and designed Dennis Juizhou City. Phase two is ongoing.

A GROUNDBREAKING MASTERPLAN FOR A RAPIDLY EMERGING NEIGHBOURHOOD. Built in phases, the former Holesovice Port in Prague, Czech Republic, provides a range of residential and leisure blocks over a 16.5 hectare site. The masterplan includes 1,000 residential units, a private marina, cafés and restaurants. The initial phase comprised three residential buildings, with 340 apartments overlooking the port basin. The design of the residential building respects the scale and material nature of the adjacent historic port buildings. Chapman Taylor designed the masterplan and designed the largest residential block.

The Park View Grand Spa in Guragaon is a large residential development consisting of nine 20-storey towers and one 33-storey tower. Centred on an eight acre landscaped park with several curving paths through them, the development provides an environment in which residents can enjoy themselves both indoors and outdoors – various sports areas are incorporated, along with children’s recreation facilities.

Sustainability is a key feature of the design, including optimum cross-ventilation and abundant natural daylight.Chapman Taylor’s New Delhi studio were responsible for masterplanning and architectural design. Park View Grand Spa was awarded ‘Highly Commended’ status in the ‘Residential HighRise for India’ category at the Asia Pacific Property Awards, 2016.

Creating a new urban quarter, this mixed-use development regenerates this entire area of Tashkent. The site has a long, prime frontage on Mirabad Street, which runs between two main routes between the city centre and airport. High-rise residential properties combined with street-side offerings are book-ended by landmark corner buildings.

Architectural style follows that of the surrounding area, with the 12-storey towers acting as punctuation between the main 9-storey buildings. Roadways, paths and public realm spaces are uncluttered, attractive and safe for residents and visitors alike. Chapman Taylor is providing the Masterplan Concept for this prominent urban residential scheme.

CASTLE PARK VIEW BRISTOL, UK

Castle Park View regenerates a brownfield site in a unique location, providing a high-quality residential development delivering some of the first dedicated Built-for-Rent homes in Bristol City Centre. It provides 375 new homes, through a mixture of Build-for-Rent and affordable dwellings. A 26-storey tower and a 10-storey block book-end the scheme, with a podium block connecting the two and providing frontage to the park.

The strong built form along the northern boundary is reminiscent of the old castle wall which once stood on the site.

ISLAND PARADISE RESORT ANTIGUA

OUR MASTERPLAN IN ANTIGUA WILL HELP RETAIN ITS STATUS AS A WORLD-CLASS DESTINATION.

Island Paradise is a major new resort on a group of islands in the beautiful Caribbean island paradise of Antigua. The masterplan is made up of four islands of varying size and mainland peninsula areas. All the sites have extensive coastlines of mangrove and beach-lined waterfront. Guests fly into Antigua and arrive at a stunning reception centre on Barnacle Point before being taken by yacht to the tropical island resorts.

Chapman Taylor has provided the masterplan concept for Island Paradise, the largest mixeduse development proposal in the whole of the West Indies. It is a key ingredient in determining the future prosperity of Antigua and its status as a world-class destination.

A NAUTICAL-THEMED RESORT WHICH BOOSTS THE LOCAL ECONOMY. Two 2 Towers, Bello Horizonte, Santa Marta, Colombia, is an innovative architectural project consisting of two magnificent towers based on a podium overlooking the Caribbean. The building pays homage to its surrounding landscape by representing the image of a cruise ship in motion. The development includes a 100room hotel, leisure premises, restaurants and recreational activities spread over 16 floors.

Housing modules range from one-bed to three-bed family units, and provide a choice of homes to reflect peoples’ ability to pay and the different stages in their lives.

Gyms, residents' lounges, micro-cinemas and laundrettes can be included among other facilities to encourage community cohesion. The 220-bed Holiday Inn Express in Trafford, Manchester, is constructed from purpose-built steel shipping containers complete with factoryfinished interior fixtures and fittings, all of which are installed before being delivered to site. The modules are stacked on top of each other without the need for additional supporting structures, to enable fast installation on site.

 Each module consists of two bedrooms and a section of corridor.

 The individual modules are transported complete with finished interiors and stacked on top of each other.

All of the 220 bedrooms were placed on site in less than three weeks.

Radisson Red in Mohali is a new hotel aimed at young travellers wishing to explore India, conveniently located 3km from the international airport at Chandigarh. Including a restaurant and bar, the hotel is Carlson Rezidor’s first Radisson Red-category offering in India. Chapman Taylor’s New Delhi studio provided masterplanning, architecture and interior design services on this project. The development is due to open in mid-2018.

BRIGHTON SQUARE PATTAYA, THAILAND

 A modern, mixed-use complex in a popular tourist location.  The 3-Star hotel contains 450 rooms, many with excellent sea views.

  The building contains 3,000m² of leasable space.  The interior and exterior designs reflect the marine culture of Pattaya.

Brighton Square is a 3-Star hotel development in central Pattaya, with conference and function-room facilities complemented by a retail and F&B mall. The prominent site boasts panoramic sea views, which the design focused on maximising.

MANDARIN ORIENTAL BANGKOK, THAILAND

The Mandarin Oriental Hotel, a landmark in Bangkok, asked Chapman Taylor to renovate three elements of its offering. The spa redesign renovated the exterior entrance, added two new facial treatment rooms and updated the Royal Suite. Existing treatment rooms were redesigned, a 25m² relaxation area added, back-of-house areas relocated and public areas renovated.

Natural brass, timber cladding and lavish fabrics are complemented by a statement chandelier. The renovation of the Neapolitan-themed Ciao Terrazza involved the use of bright colours, stepped architecture, cast iron and wall finishes. Chapman Taylor was lead designer on the three elements - spa, retail boutique and restaurant and also managed the construction phases on each.

The first wine bar and restaurant by the worldrenowned Riedel glassware company, this highprofile project is a destination that balances functionality, Riedel brand-heritage and high quality design. The material palette makes use of brass, vintage leather and silky textiles.

Chapman Taylor was responsible for space planning and interior design, creating a series of different areas – a private room, a terrace, a retail area with wine-tasting corner and a restaurant with small bar and innovative ‘wine emotion’ machines.

Intended as an unrivalled hospitality-led mixeduse development in Asia, this development is inspired by the rich local history of Mui Dinh. Six resort hotels and a boutique hotel provide a total of 7,000 rooms. 500 ocean-facing villas are also available, with all residents served by a leisure offering including a theme park, a casino, a beach club and a mountain clubhouse.

Chapman Taylor’s Bangkok studio devised the concept masterplan for this striking Vietnamese development. The Vietnamese government has approved the urban plan for Mui Dinh.

CRYSTAL CITY DEAD SEA, JORDAN

A DRAMATIC TOURIST RESORT BESIDE THE DEAD SEA. Crystal City lies on a superb site at the mouth of the Wadi Ma’in at the Dead Sea, with views across a dramatic gorge and over the sea. A mixed-use development, it is planned as a major tourist destination for Jordan. The gated residential component is at the south of the site, with a 5-star hotel, waterpark and beach club being grouped in the centre and north of the plot.

DURRES, ALBANIA

Lalesi Bay is a mixed-use development designed to create Albania’s prime residential and tourist destination, only 30km from Tirana and even less from the airport. Parkland residential accommodation includes apartments and villas with excellent sea views, while a 5-Star hotel with pools sits closer to the beach. A resort with waterpark has direct access to the beach and its

RADISSON BLU 5* HOTEL & SPA KARJAT, INDIA

Radisson Blu Resort & Spa is a 102-room hotel retreat situated on the Ulhas River in Karjat, Maharashtra, a two-hour drive from Mumbai and Pune. Opened in 2016, the luxury hotel is connected by a series of courtyards and benefits from views across the river to the foothills of the Sahyadri Mountains. The project was initially designated ‘Park Plaza Resort- 4-Star Category’, but the architectural design concept helped the client upgrade the development to ‘Radisson Blu Resort – 5-Star Category’.

The hotel has been rated by the Carlson Group as the "best Radisson resort property in India". Chapman Taylor was the lead architect for the project, including development of the landscape concept - one of the key elements of the design.

CURIO HILTON DOHA, QATAR

Directly connected to the Mall of Qatar, this is the first Hilton hotel opened under its Curio Collection in the Middle East, at Al Rayyan, Doha. The hotel provides easy access to shops in the Mall of Qatar, restaurants, cinemas, the KidzMondo ‘edutainment’ park, and other entertainment activities. HEATHROW AIRPORT T2A LUXURY RETAIL LONDON, UK

LUXURY RETAIL QUARTER IN THE QUEEN'S TERMINAL AT HEATHROW, LONDON. Sitting alongside the world’s first free personal shopping lounge at an airport, this bespoke shopping area offers passengers a luxury fashion-house environment. Hosting retailers such as Bottega Veneta, Bulgari, Harrods, Paul Smith and Hugo Boss, the high-end design incorporates eight retail units and a centrepiece flagship store.

Chapman Taylor was appointed lead consultant for the development of the Retail Design Guidelines, and also undertook the full contract management from concept to completion. It also delivered the shell works on behalf of Carillion for the luxury retailing.

 The luxury retail offer at Terminal 2 has transformed passenger airside experience.  33 retailers operate from the renovated terminal, as well as 17 F&B outlets.

HEATHROW AIRPORT T5 LONDON, UK

CUSTOMER-CENTRIC DESIGN FOR THE WAY PEOPLE ACTUALLY USE AIRPORTS. The configuration of landside retail space at Heathrow's Terminal 5 was coordinated with the operational requirements of the check-in layout and facilities. The airside facilities were designed around the main operational flow of both A&D and transfer passengers, being focused on a 400m long primary north-south circulation ‘street’. Retail design and planning reflects a diverse range of passenger demographics - premium/luxury stores are located in the southern zone, while the mid-to-northern zone reflects a more ‘high street’ feel.

Grozny Airport’s striking terminal gradually emerges from the landscape as it is approached from the city, symbolising the economic regeneration of Grozny and the region beyond. Departing passengers move through an open atrium which opens the ground floor to the rising roof, visually linking both the public and secure sides of the terminal.

IMPROVED PASSENGER FACILITIES AT ONE OF EUROPE'S LEADING AIRPORTS. Designed as a spacious, sustainable, stateof-the-art building to improve air passenger comfort, 'Connector' links two terminals at Brussels Airport. Acoustic performance, radar reflections and resistance to jetblast were all considered in the façade design. ‘Connector’ welcomed its first passengers in March 2015, and provides world-class retail, security screening and border control, positioning Brussels Airport as one of the leading airports in Europe. Chapman Taylor was the lead architect from concept design to delivery for architecture, interior design, lighting and MEP coordination.

ST PANCRAS INTERNATIONAL LONDON, UK

NEW SHOPS, CAFÉS AND BARS – ALL SENSITIVELY INTEGRATED INTO A NEW TWO-LEVEL CONCOURSE AREA. The new shops and cafés at St Pancras International occupy what was formerly a Victorian store for beer brewed in the Burtonon-Trent breweries. Within the Grade 1-listed building, a timeless design was created by exposing the original brick arches to the former beer vaults within new, fully-glazed shopfronts. The cafés and bars on the main concourse connect via escalators and lifts to the hotel and restaurants at the platform level, providing intuitive connectivity throughout the public areas.

Chapman Taylor designed all the new commercial and public concourse areas within the station. As part of the approvals required from English Heritage and Camden Council, design standards were created for the commercial signage and retail fascias.
