Module 1: How To Draw A Croissant?
MEASURED DRAWING OF A CROISSANT
How to measure a Croissant? Photocopied Plan
First, I took four different photographs and scanned three sections of the cut croissant. Second, I adjusted the brightness and contrast of the photographs and sections using Photoshop. After that, I traced them with a greaseproof paper and sketch it by using some shadings and hatching. Last, I scanned it into photoshop and measured the length of different views of the croissant.

NEW MARIO WORLD
The making of new Mario World. My new Mario World is a combination of the two Images from the original Mario World, and I added some characters inside the world to get the sense of the world. The axonometric view is accomplished by creating the three dimensional of the world with dimensions based on my own interpretation of the world. The axonometric drawing was finished by filling it up with solid colours and gradient colours to express the source of lighting inside the world. First 2D Mario World

Sketches of Mario World. The process of sketching the world with 2B pencil. The sketching was done with two different world that were combined from the axonometric view of the world.
Final Sketch of Mario World. The process of finishing up all of the elements from the world based on the given template. The elements such as buildings, bushes, and blocks were adjusted based on my own interpretations of the world.
Outline of Mario World. The process of outlining the Mario World from the tracing paper with fineline pen to create the sense of clarity and cleaning up the drawing from pencil marks.

PAPER LANDSCAPE
The making of new landscape My paper model is adopted from the idea of an hourglass by creating different shapes to illustrate the hourglass. The model is created from a combination of 2D papers and 3D models. The 3D models are created from five different shapes with similar models.Moreover, the 2D pattern is having a diamond shape by following the pattern from the 3D modellings. I tried to achieve the paper modellings by following the landscape that was given to me. Therefore, I tried to attach each paper models by considering the curved landscape. Hence, I was able to accomplish my goals by having the same landscape modelings, compared to the given landscape terrain. Evidence is shown on the elevation view below.

Paper Modelling The effects are clearly shown on this photograph by having various paper modellings that were combined in one part of the landscape. The other effect is about the shadows that were created from crumbling up the models.

Progress of work. The progress made on Rhinoceros from creating different models, meshing each of the models, and putting it up together. The unrolled patterns were seen on the picture above as well.
Final Panelised Landscape in Rhinoceros. The finished landscape modelling on Rhinoceros from a combination of 2D and 3d patterns that were divided into 50 each.
Elevation View of the Paper Landscape. The elevation view was taken up to show the terrain of the panelised landscape. The photo was taken without any props below the model and therefore, it was succesfully crafted following the terrain.

Cities and Names 1: Aglaura My city is about two contrasting cities which are the present Aglaura and the future Aglaura that the writer has experienced. The story of Aglaura is about a city that is supposed to exist, however, the city is seen to be different than what it is supposed to be.

Perspective 1 (The Present) The setting is adopted from the idea of St Peter’s Basilica in Rome during the Renaisance period. The majority of the people on the right side are amazed by the extraordinary painted ceiliing by Michael Angelo, looking as if they are inside the Church. Meanwhile, the woman at the back is the only one facing at the other side of the city. She is the writer from the story that has experienced the changing world. Furthermore, the fire flame represents a transition of the living and a compulsion. In short, the perspective view tells about the city that is supposed to exist in Aglaura, before it slowly fades and turns into an ancient story. 18
Perspective 2 (The Future) The view tells about the contrasting city, where there is no existence of living human and instead, only a couple of great paintings and sculpture that is on site. Nevertheless, the same figure of the writer on each different city represents the development of the city that she has observed. Based on the story, she states that “... what was bizarre has become usual, what seemed normal is now and oddity, ...�. Therefore, the statement shows about the evolution of the Aglaura where average people would usually go and look for the peculiar and famous art. Though in this city, there is nothing appealing about famous artworks as the collections are left in some suburbs. 19
REFLECTION From these projects in Foundations of Design: Representations, I have learnt about different techniques and skills taught from the workshops and studio sessions in the University of Melbourne. From the first project about drawing a croissant, I learnt to use different sketching techniques such as hatching and shading to create a sense of lighting. I have also learnt to use Adobe Photoshop to adjust the image levels and using different features from it. Moreover, I used this software to clean up my images and sketches to increase the brightness, contrast, and clarity. The second project has taught me about creating an axonometric view from the given template of the Mario World. From this experience, I have found out about the difference between axonometric view and isonometric view as taught from the lectures. I have also learnt to use Adobe Illustrator to create an image trace from the sketches that I have scanned, filling in some colours, and even using gradient colours to create the sense of lighting. On the third project about Panelised Landscape, I have learnt to use the panelling tools on Rhinoceros and be able to finish the module despite of the difficulties that I have encountered. Furthermore, I have learnt about making a paper model based from the unrolled templates that were created using the software. I also learnt to be careful and creative from assembling each models to form a paper landscape. On the last project, I needed to create my own city based on an Old Quad building. I have learnt to create a building from a software that was taught from the workshop. Moreover, I had to create the timeline of my own interpretations of the story by using notations to mark each movements. I have also learnt to put characters into two of my perspective views that I have chosen to interpret. At first, I was unable to create a perfect characters considering the perspective view, however, I was able to redo it and found a perfect position for each characters. In short, these four modules have given me a great lesson and experience despite of the difficulties.
