LIVING HOUSE “OFF-SET” is a two storey house located in 4 MacArthur Place North, Carlton, 3053. The name “OFF-SET” was developed from the idea of shifting blocks following the facade with Edwardian style. Although the exterior may look like the buildings are completely separated, the interior space was arranged to provide a natural circulation along the house. The corridor is accompanied by a glass curtain wall that allows natural daylight inside the house, and also small courtyard that can be opened from the inside of the house.

THIRD 10 YEARS: - The office space on the first floor could be relocated on the second floor. - The office space on the first floor could be renovated as a bedroom with an ensuite to provide more privacy for the adult child/ tenant.

LIVING NEIGHBOURHOOD “SOLIDxFLUID” is a project consisting infill housing, communal spaces, shared facilities, green infrastructure, and laneway activation in 65 Elgin Street, 2 MacArthur Place North, 4 MacArthur Place North, and 6-10 MacArthur Place North. The name “SOLIDxFLUID” was developed from the idea of dividing blocks based on the program happening inside the building. SOLID refers to the massing, while FLUID refers to the landscaping feature that creates a natural circulation along the plots forming as a coherent whole. In order to emphasise the idea of communal space, an internal bridge at the upper floor was designed to link all the residential areas along with the shared communal space and the rooftop garden. The interior arrangement was done with the idea of function that follows the form of the buildings, consisting of shared facilities inside each rooms. The development of the idea of public vs private can be seen on the use of materiality, where the commercial sector and the shared communal space were designed with bricks, while the residential spaces were designed with timber along with the retainment of ‘Edwardian style’ facade on 4 MacArthur Place North.
