Monthly Report for February Dear friends and donors, Charity organization Serbs for Serbs registered in the state of Illinois in United States in Jun 2010 by the group of the Serbian youth. Charity organization Serbs for Serbs is a 501(c)(3) notfor-profit charitable organization. Donation is tax-deductible to the extent followed by the law. On 30th September, 2011 we finally got the letter from department of the treasury (IRS) with tax exempt 501(c)3 approval. All donations to our organization donated from June 16, 2010 are tax deductible under section 170 of the Code. We are also qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers of gifts under section 2055, 2106 or 2522 of the Code.

About Us The mission of Charity organization Serbs for Serbs is to affect on consciousness of Americans, Serbs and their friends through planned projects, social and humanitarian activities in order to develop and foster better society for future generations and provide aid for underprivileged families in need. Although there are many humanitarian organizations and associations, help often doesn't reach the most jeopardized. Due to unnecessary administration, missing information and slow decision making, the delivery of aid arrives too late to the final consumers, or not at all. It is a sad and embarrassing, but true fact that more than 18.000 children daily die around the world because of starvation and malnutrition. There, among us, the blind and deaf. We are witnesses of the bad demographic situation of our nation, decreasing natality, increasing number of singles, abortions, accelerated aging of

www.serbsforserbs.org 2016 the population and generally bad economic condition of the households in Serbia, Republic of Srpska and other countries in the Balkan. An average couple has "fallen" on one child. Analysts warn that Serbs will become a minority in its own country in the following century if the nation, individuals and government don't wake up from the nescient in which they've fallen! On the other hand, nobody is talking about the families with many children which grieve by living in bitter poverty. Occupied by their everyday struggle for survival, they are being humbly in their desire for implementing rights which belong to them. Their life stories, fears and problems are identical, but almost invisible and unheard in order to gain the attention of the public, media and even state. That's why the idea of the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs arose. The organization was formed by a group of young and trustful people, who are united by the common vision of helping families blessed by many children and who are aware of the fact that even a small help means a lot for those who don't live in a material excess. We are united by the humane idea to help the poorest part of the Serbian nation. Charity organization Serbs for Serbs try to revive the spiritless energy of the Serbian Diaspora which would be able to reinforce people of Serbian heritage as well as all good people throughout the world with minimal, but constant monthly donations. We hope and believe that there is also a grain of doing good and that you will join us in the endless struggle against poverty. God bless and save all Serbian families with many children and our honored donors who participate in the noble effort to return smile on children faces.

Monthly Report for February Ambitions

Our mission The mission of Charity organization Serbs for Serbs is to affect on consciousness of Serbian people through our projects and humanitarian activities, in order to develop better society for future generations. Why Serbs for Serbs? We wanted to alleviate impaired spirit of Serbian people in togetherness and brotherhood help through humanitarian work and social aid. Who do we help? We help Serbian families who live in the Balkans, have five or more children and live in terrible poverty. Under terrible poverty we define absence of one or more basic factors required for living: food, clothes, shoes, and safe space for living.

www.serbsforserbs.org 2016 Who do we need in organization? We need members and donors that will secure financial stability through supporting our programs and activities in the future. Donors may join our daily activities within the organization in order to coordinate our work better. We also need volunteers ready to donate several hours per week for actual work within the organization. Activities of volunteers and their specific tasks would be determined by the required projects and their personal interest. From that group of volunteers we would look for future leaders of organization.

How to donate? 1. PayPal donation: szsamerika@gmail.com 2. Direct Deposit to Wells Fargo Bank account Please email us at: szsamerika@gmail.com 3. You can mail personal or business check to: Serbs for Serbs PO Box 34206, Chicago, IL 60634 4. Donation boxes: BEOGRAD CAFÉ 2937 West Irving Park Road Chicago, Illinois Owner: Dule Pavlovic

Why do we help? We believe that there is a basic need for one human (or a group) to help others in distress. A help is not only human virtue but also a Christian responsibility. By focusing our help on families with many children, we directly affect on their stirring toward becoming independent from socialdependable government programs.

NADA’S DELI & BAKERY 7316 West Lawrence Avenue Harwood Heights, Illinois

What are our long term goals? • family is ready to support itself daily and manage to pay all required expenses; • their children are encouraged to continue with school and raising their own family; • our donors are satisfied with the activities and they are ready to help other families; • our organization is satisfied with the results; • family is ready in the future to become our donor and if necessary help other families that are in need of help.

VISITING RETURNEES NEAR TUZLA

Hard returnee life for Serbs in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina The Stankovic family is one of few returnee families that, after the civil war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, returned to their village Pozarnica, about 10 km away from Tuzla, which today belongs to the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The family counts five members: grandmother Slavojka (1957), her son Dragan (1977) and his wife Branka (1978) with their two sons: Mihajlo (2010) and Aleksandar (2014). We visited this family after we had been called by Zeljko Pantic from Obnova Youth Association.

Grandmother Slavojka and her son Dragan in the village of Pozarnica

When the war started, the family left their home, as well as other Serbs from Pozarnica, and found refuge in Bijeljina, where they lived in a refugee camp. They stayed there until 2001, when they returned to their village. Before the war, Pozarnica counted several hundred households, and today there are a little over twenty. Serbs do not return there because they see no future.

The Stankovics have no income. They say that there is no work for Serbs in Tuzla, because no one wants to employ them. Sometimes, some of their Muslims neighbors ask Dragan to do some work, and then he has a chance to earn a daily wage, which is often their only income. Dragan has applied for different jobs many times, but he was never able to get one because he is a Serb. The village has no city transport, medical clinic, grocery store, so the remaining Serbian families are cut off from Tuzla.

The family had a cow up to recently, but it died. They were able to sell the milk and thus provide basic living conditions for their children and family. They have pigs and chickens, and 1.5 ha of land, part of which they use for gardening, hay and so on.

Organization SERBS FOR SERBS is starting the action of collecting the necessary funds in order to help the Stankovic family with purchasing a cow for the needs of their household, and also for supporting the family by selling milk. CHRISTMAS ACTION IN THE LESKOVAC AREA

The father of the family died of heart attack about a year ago (most likely out of stress due to constant fear in which they lived), leaving to his wife Dragana three minor children: Petar (9), Nikola (7) and Nikolina (4).

Within the traditional Christmas action, members of the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs from Nis have successfully conducted the action of buying the bred cow to family Stojanovic-Vucic who lives in the village of Gornja Jajina near Leskovac. We visited the family Stojanovic-Vucic at the end of 2015 and arranged to bring them a cow which we provided in the total amount of 139,000 RSD. Part of the donation for family Stojanovic-Vucic arrived from Canada, rather from the group of Serbs from Ontario.

Single mother Dragana with children: Nikolina, Nikola and Petar After the death of the father, mother and the children decided to leave the house in Kosovska Mitrovica which wasn’t even in their ownership but was given to them for usage by the Republic of Serbia. Due to everything that had happened, and due to great trauma of the children, this move was necessary. Even today, after the move, the children are suffering certain consequences of these events, which can best be seen on the oldest son who is losing hair due to stress, so in conversation with our members from Nis we agreed to help Peter come to see a doctor in Nis and get a therapy. The family lives out of social benefit (approximately 20,000 dinars) and since they moved in with the husband’s parents who are farming, they needed a cow in order to provide elementary living conditions for the children.

Serbs for Serbs with Nikolina, Nikola and Petar As we have already written, this family moved from the Bosnjacka mahala in Kosovska Mitroviac where they were afraid for their lives daily for years. In 2013 the Kosovo Albanians threw a bomb into the family courtyard, so they mostly lived closed into the house having the fence around it which was two meters high.

We call upon all the people of good will to get involved and donate in order to help the projects of the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs with the aim of helping the socially disadvantaged multiple children Serbian families throughout Balkan. CHRISTMAS AID IN KOSOVO AND METOHIJA

Laminate delivered to Zivkovic family

On February 13 and 14, the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs conducted another Christmas action in Kosovo and Metohija. We helped 14 Serbian families in the enclaves and in the north of Kosmet. The aid to the total value of 1,450,000 Dinars consisted of construction material, 3 cows, 10 laying hens, 2 wardrobes, 2 wood burning stoves, an electric stove, a freezer, a washing machine, glass for the newsstand, and a front door. A big thank you to the NGO “Majka devet Jugovica” and the brotherhood of the Visoki Decani Monastery, without whom this action, as many previous ones, would not be realized.

We met the Zivkovics in a working visit to Kosovo and Metohija, which we made in mid-December last year. Then we agreed on helping them with the construction of their new house by purchasing laminate (50m2). The family consists of the parents, Dejan and Marija, Dejan’s parents and the children, Petra (12), Nemanja (11), and Kristina (9).

Ceramic tiles for Vasic family After Donja Gusterica, we went to Gornji Korminjan, where we helped the Vasic family with the house construction. The family consists of the young married couple, Milos and Sanja, and their son, David (1). Aid delivery to Zivkovic family We started the action visiting the Gracanica Monastery, and then we left for the village of Donja Gusterica to visit the Zivkovic family.

The family is currently living with Milos’s parents and brothers. Wishing to help them start their family life in their new house, we bought them tiles for bathroom and hall (70 m2).

Wood burning stove ready for Zdravkovic family We started the second day of the action by attending the Divine Liturgy at Visoki Decani, and then we went to Gorazdevac, where we helped three families after the recent attacks on the village.

Serbs for Serbs with the Ristic family beside their new wardrobes We plan on initiating a big project for the Ristic family in order to raise funds for fitting out several rooms on the ground floor of their house which is in a very bad condition. The family consists of the parents, Sreten and Sonja, and their four children, Snezana (16), Jovana (15), Milos (11), and Ivana (10). A big problem is that the parents are unemployed and this causes other problems. Also, there is not any adequate Center for Social Work, because what this family urgenly needs is a good social worker.

Kastratovic family with their electric stove and freezer Zdravkovic family now has a wood burning stove First we visited the family of Veljko and Dijana Zdravkovic, who have four underage daughters: Andjela (12), Isidora (9), Sofija (6), and Neda (4). We provided them with a wood burning stove.

The second family we helped in Gorazdevac were the Kastratovics. Pera and Milica have two children, Radmila (2) and Milic (1), and we helped them by purchasing an electric stove and a freezer.

Serbs for Serbs at Pec Patriarchy After visiting the Pec Patriarchy and our friends in Osojane and Kosovska Mitrovica, we finished our Christmas action in Kosmet. Beside the families we visited, we also helped several families more, but we did not visit them this time, because the aid had not been delivered to them by the time of our visit.

In the village of Novo Badovce, near Gracanica, we helped the Arsic family. The parents, Milos and Dragana, have two children, Djordje (3), and Todor (1 month old). In order to fix the wall in the bathroom, we purchased tiles, plasterboard and material for insulation. The Milicevic family Skulanevo lives in a small room in very hard conditions. The family consists of the parents, Igor and Vera, and their two daughters Nikolija (2) and Neda (1). We provided them with a cow, which will be delivered in a few days. The Jovic family from Lipljan consists of the parents, Ivan and Jelena, who live in the same household with their two children, Andjelina (5) and Nikolina (1), and Ivan’s mother. The house is in a very bad condition, so we provided them with construction material to repair the walls.

Stojkovic family

Apart from helping the families south of the river Ibar, we also helped the Milicevic family from Socanica near Leposavic in the northern part of Kosovo and Metohija. The family consists of the parents, Milan and Sneza, and their children, Jana (17), Perica (14), Nikolina (11), and Mihajlo (4). The head of the family, Milan, works at the Water company. They receive child benefit and they are engaged in agriculture, but they would be happy if they could get a cow in order to provide dairy products for their own needs and for selling as well. Due to recent attacks on several Serbian families, we subsequently decided to help two more families that were attacked. The first is the Simonovic family from Srbobran, consisting of the parents, Zoran and Dana, and their sons, Milan (16) and Bogdan (11). We provided them with the glass for the newsstand where they work, and which was shot at while they were inside. The second is the family of the priest Milos Vukic from Osojane, who lives with his wife Danijela and his children Helena (6), and Andjela (3). In the attack, the house of father Milos was burgled, so we helped them by purchasing new and better front door. We would like to remind you that we raised money in the Christmas action to fit out the house for the Stojkovic family from the village of Izvor in Novo Brdo Municipality. It was done thanks to the Canadian chapter of our organization and their "In Time For Bozic 2016" campaign, as well as the big fundraising internet campaign, which collected numerous donations worldwide. Works on the house will start as soon as the weather conditions improve.

New monument to victims in Gorazdeavac Having finished another traditional Christmas action, we can only point out that we are deeply concerned about the fact that the position of Serbs in Kosovo and Metohija is worse than ever. We are especially worried that the security situation is worse, which is proved by the recent attacks on Gorazdevac, newsstand in Srbobran, priest’s house in Osojane, numerous incidents which do not reach the media and the arrest of armed Islamists in front of the Visoki Decani Monastery. Genaral social, political and socio-economic situation in Kosovo and Metohija also add to the feeling of hopelessness for our people. Our organization will keep trying to help such climate to change and improve. One of the attempts in doing so is a project of installing a quality video surveillance in Gorazdevac, which we joined after the invitation of the Visoki Decani Monastery. If this proves to be successful, other similar projects will follow. Fundraising for this and numerous other actions is still ongoing, so we invite you to keep supporting our organization by making regular monthly donations.

SUCCESSFIL CHARITY PARTY IN N.SAD

On February 24, USSD “Slobodan Bajic” and Charity organization Serbs for Serbs organized the first charity party, held in the reading room of the dorm “Slobodan Bajic”, as part of the “Trojka iz Bloka” Tournament Novi Sad.

This was at the same time the announcement of the tournament which will take place on May 28, 2016 on the SPENS plateau. About 350 students of the University of Novi Sad attended the party and 81,000 Dinars were raised. All the money goes to the “Trojka iz Bloka” project, which is intended for bathroom construction for socially disadvantaged multiple children families.

We took the opportunity to present the work of the organization at the party, although we were pleasantly surprised by how many people follow our work on the site and social networks. Charity organization Serbs for Serbs www.serbsforserbs.org PO Box 34206, Chicago, IL 60634 Phone: +1-312-85-SERBS

Children of family Davidovic: Natasa, Pavle, Dejan and Nikolina Family Davidovic lives in the Marina village which is about 30 km away from Prijedor. As we announced, within the big Christmas action we bought a tractor for family Davidovic and thus finished this big action in the Prijedor area. The family consists of father Dalibor, mother Vesna and their four children: Nikolina (8), Dejan (6), Natasa (5) and Pavle (2). Most of the funds for this action were raised within the campaign In Time For Bozic commenced by the members of the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs from Canada and on the big charity party in Prijedor. The total value of the action was 8,000 KM.

Big help to family Davidovic in the forthcoming farming works Let us remember, at the time of Christmas and New Year we visited the most disadvantaged multiple children families from the area of Prijedor and delivered suitable presents.

NEW AID FOR SOUP KITCHENS AT KOSMET

Our friends from EHO, The Mother of the Nine Jugovics, want everyone to know how much this continued support means to them.

At the beginning of February, the humanitarian organization Serbs for Serbs helped the Soup Kitchens in Kosovo and Metohija purchase machines for screening potatoes. The increase in potato production necessitated the purchase of equipment that would make it easier to separate potatoes for consumption from those that would be used in planting additional potato crops. The total amount of donations collected for this project was 100,000 dinars, with 50,000 dinars coming from the Delije Foundation from Belgrade. Agricultural productivity, supervised by the diocesan humanitarian organization "The Mother of the Nine Jugovics", which also manages the Soup Kitchens, is quite high. With over 50 tons of potatoes to pick, the newly acquired equipment will be extremely helpful in eliminating work by hand, and will save time and resources. The machine will be in Vrbovec, the largest agricultural area.

We take this opportunity to extend our immense gratitude to donors worldwide for once again answering our appeal to support the Soup Kitchens in Kosovo and Metohija.

The humanitarian organization Serbs for Serbs will continue to promote and support the new self-sustaining economic projects in Kosovo and Metohija as well as throughout the Balkans, with the aim of achieving sustainable economic survival for the Serbian people in their centuries-old homeland. At the same time, the organization Serbs for Serbs appeals to all state institutions, public and private companies, as well as other humanitarian associations, to support its future projects which will focus on providing a better future for the Serbian people, and especially socially vulnerable families and their children.

CHARITY DARTS TOURNAMENT IN CHICAGO

On February 3, 2016, the local branch of Serbs for Serbs in Chicago organized for the first time a Darts Tournament. The tournament sparked a large amount of interest since it was the first of its kind in the area. Serbs for Serbs held the event at the Sv Nikola church hall in Brookfield, Illinois. Like the Trojka Iz Bloka project, the idea of the darts tournament was to gather friends, family and donors together to have fun and raise money for impoverished Serbian families. The tournament drew in 30 competitors with the top prize going to Ivica Lazic of Lyons, Illinois and second place went to 12 year old Mihailo Josipovic of Brookfield, Illinois.

Through tournament registration, shirts sales and snacks sales, we were able to raise $718 this evening. For everyone in attendance, the event was a great success, and they all expressed a desire to have a similar tournament every month! SFS AT SERBIAN FESTIVAL IN SIDNEY

On Saturday and Sunday, February 6 and 7, members of the Charity organization SERBS FOR SERBS Australia had the honor to present the work of the organization at a big Serbian Festival in Darling Harbor, Sydney. The Festival is organized under the patronage of the Serbian Orthodox Church - Metropolitanate of Australia and New Zealand and the Serbian Orthodox Youth Association of Australia & New Zealand “SOYA”.

Reactions of Serbs from Sydney and their friends of other nationalities were a big surprise. Many people cried when they saw shocking photos of children we help, while others wanted to have their picture taken in front of our stand, wishing to spread the information about our organization and activities themselves. What is more, we were amazed by the number of those who wanted to meet us personally and find out about the work of the organization and generally about the ways they can contribute.

First of all, we would like to thank Dimitrije Grasar, president of the organizational committee of the Serbian Festival, who is also a coordinator of “SOYA” for New South Wales, and Ilija Perac, president of “SOYA”, for enabling us to present the work of our organization for the first time in Sydney.
