Monthly Report for January Dear friends and donors, Charity organization Serbs for Serbs registered in the state of Illinois in United States in Jun 2010 by the group of the Serbian youth. Charity organization Serbs for Serbs is a 501(c)(3) notfor-profit charitable organization. Donation is tax-deductible to the extent followed by the law. On 30th September, 2011 we finally got the letter from department of the treasury (IRS) with tax exempt 501(c)3 approval. All donations to our organization donated from June 16, 2010 are tax deductible under section 170 of the Code. We are also qualified to receive tax deductible bequests, devises, transfers of gifts under section 2055, 2106 or 2522 of the Code.
About Us The mission of Charity organization Serbs for Serbs is to affect on consciousness of Americans, Serbs and their friends through planned projects, social and humanitarian activities in order to develop and foster better society for future generations and provide aid for underprivileged families in need. Although there are many humanitarian organizations and associations, help often doesn't reach the most jeopardized. Due to unnecessary administration, missing information and slow decision making, the delivery of aid arrives too late to the final consumers, or not at all. It is a sad and embarrassing, but true fact that more than 18.000 children daily die around the world because of starvation and malnutrition. There, among us, the blind and deaf. We are witnesses of the bad demographic situation of our nation, decreasing natality, increasing number of singles, abortions, accelerated aging of
www.serbsforserbs.org 2016 the population and generally bad economic condition of the households in Serbia, Republic of Srpska and other countries in the Balkan. An average couple has "fallen" on one child. Analysts warn that Serbs will become a minority in its own country in the following century if the nation, individuals and government don't wake up from the nescient in which they've fallen! On the other hand, nobody is talking about the families with many children which grieve by living in bitter poverty. Occupied by their everyday struggle for survival, they are being humbly in their desire for implementing rights which belong to them. Their life stories, fears and problems are identical, but almost invisible and unheard in order to gain the attention of the public, media and even state. That's why the idea of the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs arose. The organization was formed by a group of young and trustful people, who are united by the common vision of helping families blessed by many children and who are aware of the fact that even a small help means a lot for those who don't live in a material excess. We are united by the humane idea to help the poorest part of the Serbian nation. Charity organization Serbs for Serbs try to revive the spiritless energy of the Serbian Diaspora which would be able to reinforce people of Serbian heritage as well as all good people throughout the world with minimal, but constant monthly donations. We hope and believe that there is also a grain of doing good and that you will join us in the endless struggle against poverty. God bless and save all Serbian families with many children and our honored donors who participate in the noble effort to return smile on children faces.

Monthly Report for January Ambitions
Our mission The mission of Charity organization Serbs for Serbs is to affect on consciousness of Serbian people through our projects and humanitarian activities, in order to develop better society for future generations. Why Serbs for Serbs? We wanted to alleviate impaired spirit of Serbian people in togetherness and brotherhood help through humanitarian work and social aid. Who do we help? We help Serbian families who live in the Balkans, have five or more children and live in terrible poverty. Under terrible poverty we define absence of one or more basic factors required for living: food, clothes, shoes, and safe space for living.
www.serbsforserbs.org 2016 Who do we need in organization? We need members and donors that will secure financial stability through supporting our programs and activities in the future. Donors may join our daily activities within the organization in order to coordinate our work better. We also need volunteers ready to donate several hours per week for actual work within the organization. Activities of volunteers and their specific tasks would be determined by the required projects and their personal interest. From that group of volunteers we would look for future leaders of organization.
How to donate? 1. PayPal donation: szsamerika@gmail.com 2. Direct Deposit to Wells Fargo Bank account Please email us at: szsamerika@gmail.com 3. You can mail personal or business check to: Serbs for Serbs PO Box 34206, Chicago, IL 60634 4. Donation boxes: BEOGRAD CAFÉ 2937 West Irving Park Road Chicago, Illinois Owner: Dule Pavlovic
Why do we help? We believe that there is a basic need for one human (or a group) to help others in distress. A help is not only human virtue but also a Christian responsibility. By focusing our help on families with many children, we directly affect on their stirring toward becoming independent from socialdependable government programs.

What are our long term goals? • family is ready to support itself daily and manage to pay all required expenses; • their children are encouraged to continue with school and raising their own family; • our donors are satisfied with the activities and they are ready to help other families; • our organization is satisfied with the results; • family is ready in the future to become our donor and if necessary help other families that are in need of help.

SFS AT FAMILY STOJANOVIC FROM LESKOVAC
They were renting a place at first, but due to the lack of money (since they live of social benefit in the amount of approximately 20,000 RSD) they went to live with the husband’s parents in the Gornja Janjina village where we visited them.
Members of the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs visited at the end of 2015 family Stojanovic living in the Gornja Jajina village near Leskovac. The family moved from Bosnjacka mahala in Kosovska Mitrovica where they were afraid for their life for years. In 2013 the Albanians threw a bomb in the courtyard of the house, so the members mainly lived closed in the house. Father of the family died of heart attack a year ago (most likely out of stress due to great torment and life in constant fear), and he left his wife Dragana with three minor children: Petar (9), Nikola (7) and Nikolina (4).
The parents of the late husband are farmers and they have a greenhouse. In the conversation with the single mother Dragana we came to a conclusion that the family needs cow the most, in order to feed the children and provide additional income to the family.
After the father’s death, the mother and the children decided to leave the house in Kosovska Mitrovica which wasn’t even in their ownership but was given to them for usage by the state of Serbia. The children are still bearing traumas so the removal was necessary.
We call upon all the people of good will to get involved and provide financial contributions to the projects of the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs aimed at helping the socially disadvantaged multiple children families throughout Balkan. NO SURRENDER! CHILDREN ARE OUR FUTURE!

WOOD BURNING STOVE FOR GAVRILOVIC FAMILY
Nikola, Duska, Milos, Danijela, and Dragana Gavrilovic
As part of the traditional Christmas action, the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs helped the eightmember Gavrilovic family from Potkozarje, near Banja Luka. The family was previously visited in midNovember, when we agreed on helping them by purchasing a wood burning stove. The family consists of the parents, Stanislav and Rada, and their six children, Danko (19), Danijela (17), Dragana (12), Duska (10), Nikola (5), and Milos (3), and they live in very hard conditions. The value of the wood burning stove is 845 BAM.
Gavrilovic children in front of their new wood burning stove
Gavrilovic family from Banja Luka The Gavrilovic family fled the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the last war and found refuge in the Republic of Srpska. The eight of them found home in Potkozarje, in a house which still lacks basic conditions. Our members visited them in November, when the action was started to buy them the wood burning stove. When we collected enough money, we bought the stove and delivered it to them after Christmas.
Since no one bought them anything, as the Gavrilovics say, they did not keep hope that we would come again. Thanks to donors, the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs once again showed that Serbian children from multiple children families have someone to turn to. The Gavrilovics would also like to thank everybody, although they still can not believe that someone thought of them, too.

Monthly Report for January CHRISTMAS ACTION IN PRIJEDOR
As was the case in previous years, the Christmas action of the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs gathered numerous Prijedor residents to collect 530.70 BAM in order to help the most disadvantaged large families from the Prijedor region. The helped families are: Marjanovic, Zdjelar, Vuckovic, and Davidovic. The families received aid consisting of basic groceries and hygiene packages, and youngest got santa sacks, which made them very happy. The total value of the aid was 493 BAM.
www.serbsforserbs.org 2016 Dragan and his wife Mira Marjanovic have ten beautiful children: Nenad (3), Svetlana (5), Predrag (8), Zeljko (10), Dragan (13), Jelena (15), Zeljka (16), Marinko (17), Suzana (19), and Dragana (23). We had helped the Marjanovics earlier by purchasing land, chainsaw and food packages.
Youngest Marjanovics with santa sacks We had helped the Vuckovic family earlier by purchasing a tractor. The family consists of the parents, Drasko and Bojana, and their six children: daughters Anastasija (14), Dajana (12), and Jelena (10), and sons Dragan (11), and the twins Stefan and Aleksandar (7).

Santa sacks for the youngest We had helped the families Marjanovic, Zdjelar, Vuckovic, and Davidovic several times before in our previous actions.
We had helped the Zdjelars by purchasing food packages. The Zdjelar family consists of the parents, Mico and Milena, and their children, Zeljko (22), Dragan (14), Dragana (10), Zeljka (7), and the youngest Miroslav (5).

Monthly Report for January Unfortunately, the situation with the Zdjelars has not changed since our last visits. The seven of them still live in a shed of about 10m2, and due to property issues and the negligence of the father of the family, this family remains without specific aid of our organization.
www.serbsforserbs.org 2016 The plan for this Christmas action was to buy this family a tractor. Once again, we saw the necessity of purchasing a tractor for this family, because the snow made the road impassable and we had to postpone our visit several times until it was possible for us to reach them. The total cost of the action was 493 BAM, and the remaining amount collected in the action will be directed to purchasing a tractor for the Davidovic family. The action raised 530.70 BAM, and several packages of food and clothes. If we add the amount of 657.70 BAM, which was raised at the charity party in December, 2015, and which will be spent on purchasing a tractor for the Davidovic family, we can say that Prijedor residents have passed a real test in humaneness. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all friends and donors of the organization, especially Kafanica cafĂŠ, Sanus cafĂŠ, and Nostro Uomo cafĂŠ for their donations, and also invite everybody to support the work of our organization in the way they can.
Food, hygiene products and santa sacks for the Zdjelar family The last family we visited was the Davidovic family, consisting of the parents, Dalibor and Vesna, and their four children: Nikolina (8), Dejan (6), Natasa (5), and Pavle (2).

Monthly Report for January FIRST CHRISTMAS TOURNAMENT IN TABLE TENNIS
www.serbsforserbs.org 2016 The organizers of the tournament were the members of the organization board of the sport-charity project “Trojka iz bloka” and a great friend of our organization Aleksa Jovanov in whose club “Kao nekad” we held the competition. The best indicator that philanthropy is the essence of Christmas is precisely the fact that without any media campaign we held more than successful tournament in Borca with the aim to provide the funds from the applications and allocate them to the traditional Christmas action our organization has been conducting for several years, within which we are helping the Serbian families in Kosovo and Metohija and Krajina.
Members of the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs made sure to spend the second day of Christmas in the spirit of this great and joyful Christian holiday, i.e. to spend some of their spare time, along with a great number of merciful people, on those to whom our Lord dedicated His entire earthly life – brothers and sisters who meet various problems on a daily level – of material but also existential nature. On Firday, January 8, on the Feast of the Convocation of the Most Holy Theotokos in Borca we organized a small sport, but also charitable convocation – Christmas charity tournament in table tennis in which there were over 40 contestants and we collected 23,800 RSD.
Within the cheerful, motivated and fierce competition three competitors were the most successful – the bronze medal winner Zoran Jevtic, the “silver” Milinko Micevic and the first-placed Dusko Petrovic who won the brightest medal and the victorious trophy. However, the biggest victory of that day, won by joint effort of all tournament participants was the collected sum of 23,800 RSD! We wish them joy, love and peace in their hearts until the next socializing in Borca.
Finalists of the tournament: Milinko Micevic, Dusko Petrovic and Zoran Jevtic
In the first place, we thank the Lord our God who gathered us all with a single goal – the aim to help our neighbors wherever they are.

Monthly Report for January CHRISTMAS SFS ACTION IN CANADA
Canadian branch of the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs started its second Christmas campaign under the name “In time for Bozic 2016”. In the first week of the action, they collected 5,000 dollars for four multiple children families who need help, and the donors were from entire Ontario, and even from Helsinki. The action runs until Christmas, and the organizers are hoping that this year’s sum will surpass the sum of 11,000 dollars they collected last year in the similar campaign. On this occasion the money will go to families Ljiljak (refugees from Croatia) with seven children for upgrading the house, Stojkovic from Izvor near Novo Brdo from Kosovo and Metohija for providing the construction material, Davidovic with four children from the Marin village near Prijedor for buying the tractor and Baljak with six children from Obrovac for providing the construction material. Although it was officially registered in November 2015, the Canadian branch of the organization Serbs for Serbs which was commenced by friends Angelina Racic, Mira Brkic, Dragana Kubra, Olga Lukic and Lidija Borojevic has already organized two “pancake parties” and its first campaign “In time for Bozic” in 2015, and collected approximately 21,000 dollars which was sent to Belgrade to the central organization for the help to the socially disadvantaged families. - The five of us, and our families and friends who have been supporting us from the first day, had the need to do something for our children who live in difficult conditions and whose families due to their poverty cannot provide them even a decent accommodation, let alone something else. We decided to act through the organization Serbs for Serbs because we liked their transparency.
www.serbsforserbs.org 2016 Everybody knows when, where and how much was spent, where did the money go which is essential when you want people to trust you. Another reason why we chose this organization is due to the fact that they don’t give money to anyone, but after investigating the situation and talking to people, they make a joint decision with those people what they need the most and afterwards the organization provides them with that. The most important thing is that the representatives of the organization through the things they provide for the socially disadvantaged in Serbia, the Republic of Srpska and Krajina want to enable those families to create opportunity to survive on their own in the future. Therefore, it doesn’t represent the fulfillment of unrealistic desires, but helping in such a manner that those families can become more active members of the society tomorrow, to try to sustain themselves and to provide the life of dignity to their children as much as possible. Also, it was important to us that the organization is collaborating closely with the Serbian Orthodox Church, that it is close to the church, and we decided to become a part of it. I would also like to emphasize that a single organization cannot accomplish everything on its own. Therefore we support other sister organizations who are working in Canada such as the Lifeline branch, Stara Raska, Srpska bratska pomoc and individuals like Rada and Rade Micic who are helping selflessly as much as they know and can. Should each of us give 5 dollars per month, it would bring a different picture in our homeland – says Angelina Racic, president of the Canadian branch of Serbs for Serbs. Our interlocutor is emphasizing the role of the young ones in the work of the Canadian branch of Serbs for Serbs, because the youth is the one to engage heavily on the pancake parties, they are present in the social media, sharing their experiences and calling their peers to join the actions. It is very important, because only on the example of what has been done will they learn it is important to follow an example rather than someone’s opinion or attitude. PAYING BACK THE DEBT TO SERBIA - Many of us from Bosnia and Herzegovina flew to Serbia when the war begun. Serbia has accepted me and gave me what was possible at the moment. I can never forget that and I personally have great need to give back to the homeland as much as I can and I think there are a lot of people who are thinking in the same manner. To help those who need it and especially multiple children families is our Christian duty and responsibility – says the president of the Canadian branch of Serbs for Serbs Angelina Racic, originating from Sarajevo.

Monthly Report for January It is interesting that these five hard working, energetic and very motivated women who commenced the activities of organizing and registering the branch of the organization Serbs for Serbs in Canada, are from almost all Serbian regions of the former Yugoslavia by their origin. Olga Lukic and Mira Brkic (originating from Lika and Herzegovina) were born in Canada, Dragana Kubura is from Sarajevo, and Lidija Borojevic is from Slavonija, and all of them brought the feeling towards their Serbian origin from their family homes.

Monthly Report for January In its second Christmas campaign “In Time for Bozic 2016” the Canadian branch of the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs collected 17,500 dollars. This money and several more donations which should arrive will be used to improve and brighten up the lives of families Ljiljak (refugees from Croatia) with seven children (for upgrading the house), Stojkovic from Izvor near Novo Brdo from Kosovo and Metohija for providing the construction material, Davidovic with four children from the Marin village near Prijedor for buying a tractor and Baljak with six children from Obrovac for providing the construction material. Although the action is formally finished, those who want can still donate for these four families and their children. During the spring the activities in providing everything each family needs will start, and by the fall 2016 the results of the action will be tangible, says the Canadian branch of this organization. - Finishing of an action, the fulfillment of the needs of some family, the help they receive in order to become capable for independent and productive life is in fact our biggest motivation to continue to work and help. Because we know that the help goes to the multiple children families (the motto of our organization is “Children are our future”) and that the lives of those children become improved and advanced, there is no bigger award and motive for all of us who participate in that: us, the organizers of the action and for those who give and help from their hearts – says Angelina Racic, president of the Canadian branch of Serbs for Serbs.
www.serbsforserbs.org 2016 SERBOS FROM CALGARY In the second Christmas campaign “In Time for Bozic 2016” the set of donors was spread, so people from Australia, an Indian living in Canada and many others were donating. Members of the Kolo srpskih sestara “Kneginja Zorka” from Toronto donated 1,000 dollars for this action. The activists of the Canadian branch had the desire to have many donors like the families from Calgary, the 10 of them, organized and gathered by Dragan Vujic. They call themselves Serbos from Calgary and each of them pays on average 30 dollars each month on the account of the organization Serbs for Serbs. Since 2009 until now these families have donated 32,000 dollars in such a manner. - We would like to witness such manner of continued help as much as possible; it is not too much of an expense for the people who live here, but on a yearly level it is a big donation and significant and substantial help – says Angelina Racic. HOW TO DONATE THE MONEY It is not too late to join the action of help to families Ljiljak, Stojkovic, Davidovic and Baljak. Dear readers, you can do that by sending a check on Serbs for Serbs Canada, 635 The Queensway, Lower Level, Toronto, ON, M8Y 1K6 or by paying on interac e transfer on donate2sfs@gmail.com.
The donors can donate always, it needs not be the specific action of the Canadian branch, but the current project of the organization Serbs for Serbs instead, points out our interlocutor. The next action of the Canadian branch will be the organization of the traditional spring pancake party in the Serbian centre in Mississauga scheduled for May 15, right after the service. The young ones are always particularly engaged in that action, which is precisely the aim: to transfer to the young ones the feeling they need to help their people, to those who are poor, miserable and powerless; to give the young ones the opportunity to feel the pleasure and happiness when they help someone else, when they make other people happy and brighten up their lives on their own work.

Serbs for Serbs with their friends from Linz in the parish home
Members of the Charity organization Serbs for Serbs had been in the four-day visit to Austria and Germany in mid-January, during which they visited Linz, Lindau, Friedrichshafen, Nuremberg and Graz with the aim to present the organization, get to know the donors and Serbian communities in that area and hold regular meetings with the representatives of the organization Serbs for Serbs from Switzerland, Austria and Germany. Futsal tournament in Lindau We spent the next day (Saturday, January 16) in the town Lindau, on the Bodensee Lake shores, where the traditional futsal tournament gathering the Serbs from entire southern Germany took place, and within which we were allowed to set a stand and present the organization.

SFS members in the St. New Serbian Martyrs Temple in Friedrichshafen
We hosted a lot of people on the stand – those who had already heard of us and who followed our work regularly were approaching right away and greeting us, while we were distributing annual reports of the organization and the rest of the promotional material to those who wanted to get acquainted closer with our activities.
On Sunday, January 17 our delegation attended the Holy Liturgy in the St. New Serbian Martyrs Temple in Friedrichshafen after which we presented the work of our organization to the gathered people in the parish home and the half-hour documentary video on the subject of first ten years of our work.
This beautiful town on the Bodensee Lake was at the same time also the place of our encounter and meeting with the members of the German and Swiss branches of the organization Serbs for Serbs.

www.serbsforserbs.org 2016 His only wish was to enlighten his soul with God’s truth and will and to serve only Him. Years later, this prince, guided by God’s hand, returned from the desert to his country as the prince of the church and spiritual leader of his nation for all times. Although childless, through centuries he has become a father of millions of his spiritual sons and daughters. This happened more than seven and a half centuries ago, but the spiritual flame which he has lit inside his people still burns, and the number of his spiritual children is constantly increasing. He was kind, but fearless; unusually handsome, yet very modest; very active, but calm; social, yet lonely. He knew how to live nobly in both worlds, so many looked up to him. Serbs today, out of love for him, erect numerous churches in his name on all continents where the ironic fate scattered them. …………………………………………………………...
6.231 MESSAGES ON 7763 IN DECEMBER
SAINT SAVA SERBIAN SLAVA!
St. Bishop Nikolai Velimirovich – The Life of Saint Sava A long time ago, there lived a young prince. He was unusually wise, wealthy and handsome. All doors to world fame and pleasures were open to him. But something inside of him disregarded all those charms and worldly attractions that millions yearned for. And one day, without his parents knowing, he threw the royal escort off the track and ran away to a secluded place, where he settled down as a poor foreigner.
At the beginning of March, 2015, the Charity organization SERBS FOR SERBS, in cooperation with mobile service providers Telekom, Telenor and Vip, started a national campaign for helping socially disadvantaged families throughout Serbia. During December, 6231 messages were sent to the charity SMS number 7763. The charity campaign SMS to 7763 continues. It is sufficient to send an empty SMS or an SMS with any text you want. Your message will be charged at 100 RSD (without the charge of your service provider). We extend our deep gratitude to all donors and friends of the organization who have taken part in the charity campaign of the organization SERBS FOR SERBS.
