WELCOME TO CHARLESTON Thirteen years ago, a group of local culinary enthusiasts came together around an idea – to create an experience that would celebrate + showcase the area’s rich flavor through the lens of award-winning chefs, beverage professionals, and artisans. In 2006 the first champagne bottle was popped and Charleston Wine + Food has flourished into a world-class experience that rivals the very best of its kind. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Charleston Wine + Food aims to be a catalyst for connections that inspire curiosity through thoughtful storytelling + meaningful experiences with a sense of place. In alliance with our higher purpose, we are immensely inspired by Charleston and the many people who work so hard to create a city we are proud to promote. Since its inception, Charleston Wine + Food has proven to be an economic driver for our community at large, and in 2017, the festival created an economic impact of $9.6 million over the course of five days. We take great pride in saying that 92 cents of every dollar we spend producing the festival is mission-based. We strive to be a good steward of our city and its foodways. Over $400,000 has been contributed to local initiatives + charities, and through our partnership with One80 Place Training, these efforts will continue. This year you will also notice a heightened composting and recycling initiative across the festival landscape, as we attempt to set the precedent for environmentally friendly festivals in Charleston and the country. Charleston Wine + Food embarks on its 13th season and with 120 events on the schedule, we can’t wait for the culinary adventure that awaits!

GIVING BACK We strive to be a good steward of our city and its foodways. Our priority is to create an annual economic injection that fuels Charleston’s vibrancy and growth. We work closely with partners + industry leaders to identify opportunities to contribute to organizations or persons that directly benefit our local foodway initiatives and strengthen our local community.
ECONOMIC IMPACT Ninety-two cents of every dollar we spend producing the festival has a direct measurable impact on our city’s economy. Year after year, the economic impact of Charleston Wine + Food is more than quadruple the organization’s annual budget. The 2017 festival generated an economic impact of $9.6 million over the course of five days.
ONE80 PLACE TRAINING One80 Place Training is a 5-week culinary crash course that not only combats the labor shortage in the culinary + hospitality community, but allows enrollees to acquire skills to help them find stable, gainful employment. It is our honor to support this program through financial contributions and a paid externship at the festival for its enrollees.
SCHOLASTIC INITIATIVES It’s an honor to support the next generation of culinary + hospitality leaders through the funding of scholarships awarded to an incoming College of Charleston freshman + rising senior pursuing degrees in Hospitality + Tourism Management. Additionally, we work with a senior-level PR capstone class to serve as our local “Agency of Record.” The class is split into cohorts and students research, develop, pitch, and execute campaigns on behalf of the organization.
