Lifestyle at Cresswind Peachtree City

Dear Homeowners,

As we have closed out 2024, I am excited to share our many wonderful memories of this past holiday season. I’m also excited to share how 2025 has started for Lifestyle and what we have in store for this coming year. I believe it’s important to reflect on the year gone by as well as set our sights on what is ahead and in this edition of the Whippoorwill, I invite you to do both!

The holidays were filled with wonderful volunteers decorating the Clubhouse, a festive Santa and Mrs Clause stopping by the Holiday Festival, Cookies decorated with neighbors, homes opened for our holiday tour and a winning night of cards, games and dancing as we ushered in the New Year!

In 2025, we have filled the calendar with a diverse schedule of concerts, returning favorite events and some fun, new occasions. We have also been busy finding a wide range of educational events, presentations and classes to spark your curiosity and encourage growth. Our many clubs are as busy as ever, as is our fitness center – which will be hosting four new classes each month with our personal trainers. From Entertainment to Education, Relationships to Fitness, Lifestyle wants to help start your year on the right foot – socially, mentally and physically!

This Whippoorwill is packed with homeowners living their best lives and will hopefully serve as a guide to navigating the year ahead at Cresswind. Whether you’re exploring new fitness goals, strengthening relationships, or learning something new, there’s something here for everyone. Thank you for being a part of this incredible community. Here’s to a fantastic year ahead, filled with new opportunities, shared experiences, and plenty of joy! Happy 2025, and happy reading!

Celebrating the Holidays at Cresswind

Holidays in Cresswind are always beautiful and busy but this year set new standards! During the month of December we enjoyed the return of some of our favorite events and traditions and also created some new ways to celebrate the season! The Holiday Festival and Holiday Tour of Homes took center stage but we also hosted a Christmas Cookie Decorating class that was sweet and delicious as well as a New Year’s Eve Party & Casino Night where everyone left a winner. Read more to hear about how we celebrated the holidays…

The Holiday Festival charmed the 200+ homeowners and guests in attendance with gingerbread fun, festive games, make & take crafts, a moonshine tasting, Callanwolde flute trio playing carols and holiday favorites, a cookie table and candy bar and many other seasonal delights! The annual Cookie Exchange and Contest kicked off the event and Santa & Mrs. Clause made an appearance to ensure everyone stayed on the nice list.

A week after the Holiday Festival, we hosted our Holiday Tour of Homes, featuring the beautifully-decorated homes of seventeen homeowners. A welcome reception saw all attendees gather at the clubhouse for holiday goodies and a

spirited hot cocoa bar. Once the tour started, they dispersed throughout the community to seventeen homes in all five phases to marvel at the beautiful holiday and Christmas decorations. A huge thank you to the planning committee and all our wonderful hosts who welcomed us into their homes!

Lisa Stanley, with Sunflour Treats, returned to the Clubhouse for her Christmas Cookie Decorating Class. Eleven homeowners decorated five adorable cookies while enjoying snacks, bubbly beverages and fun times with friends!

As the country counted down to 2025, homeowners were busy counting their chips at the casino tables. The New Year’s Eve Party featured a dance floor with DJ Rick and eight different game tables hosted by professional casino dealers. Homeowners played with house money, winning raffle tickets and gift cards. The night was a huge success for both novice and seasoned card players alike. Once all the chips were cashed, homeowners danced the rest of the night away as they counted down to a midnight toast! If the new year is anything like the New Year’s Eve Party, 2025 is going to be a roaring success!

If you have an estate plan, remember to review it and have it updated if needed

Question: We recently moved to Georgia and are wondering if the will, trust, financial power of attorney and health care advance directives we prepared in another state are valid here?

Answer: Welcome to the Peach State! It sounds like you have a good foundation. However, significant life events, e.g. relocation to a different state; marriage; divorce; birth of a child or grandchild; diagnosis with a chronic health condition; or a death in the family, could necessitate changes to your plan. It’s important to regularly review your plan so you can be sure it continues to meet your needs. You should review whether your estate planning documents, title (ownership) of assets, and beneficiary designations are coordinated to allow your assets to be distributed to who you want; when you want; the way you want.

Experiencing a significant life event is also a good time to review your “fiduciaries” – trusted persons you have named as “agent”, “executor”, “guardian” for minor children, and “trustee” to ensure the persons you selected are still willing and able to serve when needed.

I recommend scheduling a “Discovery Meeting” with my firm to review your plan so you can have peace of mind knowing it still reflects your wishes.

Super Bowl at Cresswind!

Seventy-five homeowners gathered at the Clubhouse on Sunday, February 9 for the Lifestyle Super Bowl Party and Chili Cookoff. The biggest game of the year, featuring the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, was the background of the event, however the most excitement could be found in the kitchen where the Chili Cookoff was held. Homeowners could sample chili cooked by eight volunteer homeowners, and then vote for their favorite. At halftime, Ginger Mathis was announced as our first-place winner and Kathy Scasny was a close runner-up. The “Super Bowl Squares” game was played with a winner each quarter. We want to thank all who helped make this event possible, including our Lifestyle Committee members, volunteers, homeowners who made chili, brought appetizers and all who joined the fun! We also want to congratulate all our winners as well as the Philadelphia Eagles!

Chili Cookoff Winner Ginger Mathis Super Bowl Party Co-Lead, Soni McCormick

Every November, the Clubhouse transforms into a beautiful display of the holiday season as homeowners gather to deck the Clubhouse halls. Homeowner Leslie Klein works with Assistant Manager, Robin Austin, to create a committee and plan for the holiday décor. Many homeowners take their Christmas pictures by the tree and fireplace or walk their family members through the beautiful display. In what feels like five quick weeks, a similar committee gathers to return all the décor to the attic until next year. Decorating the clubhouse would not be possible without the generosity of our volunteers and for them we are most thankful!
