Following my storyboard and specific timelines I realised that for this sequence I would need to work with masks.
So I initially I opened up my type in Illustrator and outlined it so that the different anchor points could be manipulated. I needed to get accross the depletion of the type so it was necessary to work in this way.
Take note: background colour / / solid colour.
Menlo Regular I chose this typeface because it is serif so therefore as the type dissapears there are still recognisable aspects of the letterform for it to be identified. The difference in weight also connotes disperse and a gives a feel of irratic’ness’ that reflects the subject matter.
Blur. I thought that by creating blur the feeling of dissapation would be heightened. I think this is definitely the case on the s letterform. It is as if your eyes are squinting, trying to read the disappearing type.
To give the illusion of the type moving further away from the viewer I simply created two key rames within the composition as a whole. One at the beginning at 100%, then one at the end at 10%
I gave the effect of the type dissapearing through separate manipulation of each letterform. Each key frame that passed I reduced an area of the letter. For example:
