OUR RESIDENCES ARE SAFE AND HEALTHY PLACES TO CALL HOME
At Chartwell, we have always maintained strong infection prevention and control protocols. In 2020, we further enhanced our measures to help ensure the safety of our residents, staff and visitors.
SAFE JUST BECAME SAFER We are thrilled that our residents and staff from across the country have received their prioritized vaccinations. They have been treating their vaccine clinics as celebrations, as they signal life gradually returning to normal in our homes. We are proud our residences are leading the charge on conquering COVID-19.

When the pandemic began in 2020, Chartwell quickly took action to source PPE and institute universal masking of staff to help keep everyone safe, even before it was required by Public Health authorities.

FINDING A NEW HOME FOR MOM
In April, my Dad passed away from cancer. My Mom, who is 88, has never lived alone and suddenly found herself very lonely. In July I realized that she cannot live alone any longer, and I knew there was a Chartwell very close to my house, so set up a tour. I met with Janet [the Retirement Living Consultant] and was super impressed with the location. Although my Mom was reluctant at first, she came around pretty quickly. I do feel the warmth of the team at the residence helped my Mom feel comfortable leaving her home in Ballantrae that she shared with my Dad for 20 years. My Mom officially moved in on Sunday. The entire staff have been very accommodating, and although they are under some tough circumstances right now with COVID-19, they really helped accommodate our move and were wonderful about letting my husband and I go in and set everything up for her. Here is a picture of my Mom in her apartment on Sunday after we officially moved her in. It’s been wonderful so far and I’m sure it will only get better for her. Audrey Jamieson, Aurora, ON

I stayed [at Chartwell] to recover after two operations. The care, staff, clientele, programs (and food) were amazing and, I’m sure, contributed a lot to my successful recovery. I have already declared ‘dibs’ on a place when I am ready to leave my own home.
