Rivers and Lakes

Sacramento is built next to the 445-mile Sacramento River that connects to the San Joaquin River Delta and the San Francisco Bay. Additionally, the American River runs through Sacramento which feeds off of Folsom Lake to Lake Natoma and runs into the Sacramento river.

There are two other forks of the American River. The North Fork of the American River starts off of Folsom Lake then becomes the Middle Fork and feeds into the Sierras. The South Fork of the American River feeds off of Folsom Lake’s Salmon Falls and into the foothills of the Sierras.
