Division and Classification Essay Animals that breath air and have scales on the exterior of their body are referred to as reptiles. Reptiles have been dated back to have been on the earth for the past 315 million years, though not all species are extant in modern times. All reptiles are ectotherm, which means they are "cold–blooded" animals (whereas most mammals are warm–blooded). All reptiles are also tetrapods, which mean they have four limbs (or they have descended from four–limbed ancestors). In general most reptiles are oviparous (egg–laying), with the exception of some viper and constrictor snakes that give live birth. In regards to size, reptiles can be anywhere from a tiny 0.6 inch gecko all the way up to a 20 foot crocodile...show more content...
Tuataras are generally twenty–four inches in length and two pounds in weight; there is no range in size in this domain since only two species exists. Tuataras are mainly sit– and–wait predators and mainly eat invertebrates. 75% of their diet consists of large, flightless insects. Reproduction takes two to five years to be commenced and completed, which is the slowest for all reptiles. Tuatara can continue growing for up to the first thirty–five years of their life. The Tuatara has been on the endangered species list for the past one–hundred years (Wikipedia, Sphenodontia). Squamata is the largest and most recent order of reptiles, including the species lizards, snakes, and worm lizards. The order is about one–hundred and sixty million years old and has approiemently 7,900 species in this domain. Species in this order are distinguished by their scales, which have a horny shape. Also species in this domain have a movable quadrate bone, making it possible for them to move their upper jaw. This is very observable in snakes; especially the anaconda which can eat an animal five to six times its size, such as deer and hippopotamuses. Besides the larger snakes in the Squamata order all other eat small to medium sized invertebrates. Out of all the orders the Squamata order has the most variance in size–range. On the small side the Jaragua Sphaero is 0.63 inches in length and is one of the world's two smallest know

Division and Classification Essay (Reptiles)
According to Karl Marx, "Division of Labour" in the modern society refers to a process where every worker did a job that he was good at in order to make profits for the organization. Different people are good at different jobs and they must only be given the task that they are good at so that the results that they produce are profitable. The working class (ruled class) had to sell their hard work and services to the ruling class as a result to get wages as their rewards. When the two classes; ruling class and the working class were different and where one class ruled and the other class had to work hard, the result that Marx saw from this was social stratification where people were categorized according to their ranks according to various different socio economic factors. The division of labour and the specialization that the stratification process brought made each individual dependant on the work of another individual. It, at the same time increased division among the working class as people began to see things in different ways and started to value different things. The working class people had differences in opinions and value for things also changed differently among individuals. With Capitalism and modernity came industrialization and factories and in Capitalism this requires owner and workers. Stratification took an important place in...show more content...
That is, some forms of labour co–operation happens merely because of technical necessities where one labour helps another when there is technical necessity while others are purely a result of a social control function which is related to a class and status hierarchy. If these two divisions are combined into one, it might appear as though the existing division of labor is technically certain and unchallengeable, rather than just socially constructed and influenced by power

There have always socioeconomic divisions in the modern world. No matter what solution there is to try to fix this division between people, a select group, who are used to being wealthy, will always feel entitled and elite to others. In The Great Gatsby, this division is represented by the characters from West Egg, where people like the Buchanans who come from old money live, and East Egg, where people like Gatsby who come from new money live. Most of the conflicts of The Great Gatsby come down to money. In this scene, where the five main characters are in a hotel suite on a hot summer day together, there is a lot of tension between Gatsby and Tom. Though they are both extremely wealthy, they believe that they are very different and their only common interest is Daisy. Tom and Gatsby get into a heated argument about her and, while this is included in both film adaptations, the scene is presented in a slightly different way.
This scene from the 1974 adaptation, dialogue between Gatsby, Tom, and Daisy is the focus. One of the central parts of the dialogue is when Gatsby wants Daisy to tell Tom she never loved him. In this adaptation, Daisy is very obviously coaxed into saying it to please Gatsby, however in the book it was a little more subtle. This was done to highlight the fact that Daisy and Gatsby's relationship has been one sided until they reunited through...show more content...
The 2013 adaptation kept the Gatsby and Daisy angle of this scene very true to the book, while the 1974 version took minor liberties to ensure that focus could be kept on Gatsby's feelings for Daisy. By doing that, the theme of Gatsby's unrealistic relationship expectations for Daisy is emphasized. As previously mentioned, this was also included in the 2013 adaptation. However, along with the equal focus on the contrast between new and old money, the 2013 version is more effective since it stayed true to the themes presented in the

Division In The Great Gatsby
Performing three different sports each year in high school, I notice all types of people that come watch an athletic contest. To me, fans separate into three different types: the attention–getters, the true–supporters, and the entertainment–seekers. Looking into the stands during a competition, many players divide onlookers into these categories right away. These groups all seem to fill the stands and bring an exciting atmosphere to the game, spectators, and even the players.
The first group mentioned, the attention–getters always bring a show of their own. These fans stir things up unruly with not only their verbal language but their body language towards the players, referees, and coaches. They attend these games to obtain a good time by dressing up and usually hanging out with friends. The entertainment–seekers usually stay calm, get easily distracted by the attention–getter, and gain knowledge about the game from the true–supporter in the crowd. The true–supporters and the entertainment–seekers make the playing of the game worthy, while the attention–getters make the game hectic. After the game, the fans make the loss a little easier and the win a whole lot sweeter. Currently, I am taking four upper division classes, which are not included in the table above. They are Anth 3610, Psy 3230, Psy 3220, and Soc 3830. With the exception of Psy 3230, the rest of those courses are apart of my directed electives in criminal justice. Michael Lewis's complaint that leading presidential candidates ignore the salient issues of the election, and is based on the ways that Candidates like Bob Doles refused to engage with other candidates, and members of the public. Lewis says that the Dole campaign, "... Would lose no luggage ... would take no stands..." (Lewis, p. 110) and this is because Bob Dole was not just a person, he was the face of a team of "rented strangers" (Lewis, p. 110) who are experts at doing running campaigns, setting platforms and making sure that reporters traveling with the campaign team do not have their luggage stolen when the candidate changed his plans last minute. The transcripts from New Hampshire and Iowa can both be summed as question, waffle, restate question, move on (Lewis, p. 55). Gay rights, and Dole's position on them, could only serve to hurt Dole's campaign, and that is why Dole did not want to answer the questions. Dole's message focused on stressing his reliability, stability and his dependability. "'Bob Dole keeps his word.' 'If the farmers show up, Bob Dole'll win big time.' Model One: Mall People
Just what goes into "having fun"? For many people, "fun" involves getting out of the house, seeing other people, having something interesting to look at, and enjoying a choice of activities, all at a reasonable price. Going out to dinner or to the movies may satisfy some of those desires, but often not all. But an attractive alternative does exist in the form of the free–admission shopping mall. Teenagers, couples on dates, and the nuclear family can all be observed having a good time at the mall. Teenagers are drawn to the mall to pass time with pals and to see and be seen by other teens. The guys saunter by in sneakers, T–shirts, and blue jeans, complete with...show more content...
One campaign features men who see themselves as victims of their nagging wives. Ads in this series show men howling with laughter about how they 've fooled their wives into thinking they 're home doing chores (by leaving dummy–stuffed pants lying under leaky sinks or broken furnaces) while they 're really out drinking. Beer is a man 's drink, the ads seem to say, and women are a nuisance to be gotten around. European and European–sounding beers such as Lowenbrau and Heineken like to show handsome, wealthy–looking adults enjoying their money and leisure time. A typical scene shows such people enjoying an expensive hobby in a luxurious location. Beer, these ads tell us, is an essential part of the "good life." This type of ad appeals to people who want to see themselves as successful and upper–class. To a little boy, it may well seem that beer is necessary to every adult 's life. After all, we need it to make us laugh, to bond with our friends, and to celebrate our financial success. At least, that 's what advertisers tell him – and us.

Depiction Of Struggle And Division
Depiction of Struggle and Division in Text Throughout this class, the main goal was to analyze these texts as though we were scholars, and to make connections and identify common themes amongst them. By doing so, we were supposed to be able to more deeply understand each text and the argument each was making. Throughout the readings, the most prominent themes were that of struggle and division, though it is certainly more prevalent and obvious in certain texts than others. Though all the texts depict division and struggle, they focus on different societal divisions This depiction of struggle first became clear during the reading of Plato 's Republic in book I, where Thrasymachus said of justice, "Justice is nothing more than what is advantageous for the stronger" (Plato 15). When examined further, Thrasymachus ' answer came to mean that what benefits the stronger, more powerful class of people is what he calls justice. Thrasymachus ' answer posed a struggle between those with more power and influence and those who held less powerful positions in their respective City–states. While Socrates overturned Thrasymachus ' definition of justice, the discussion turned to government and justice in Book VIII, when Socrates spoke of the eventual decay of government into Tyranny. In describing Timocracy, a form of government in which property ownership is required for participation in government and in which honor is the ruling principle and the man with which it corresponds, Socrates

Classification and Division: Levels of Friendship A great sense of humor, adventurous, honest and great advice are all characteristics that come to mind when people think of the word "friend". Friends are an essential part of living. They help one another when life gets rough, and it is always a good feeling to have a friend with you. We always want to share our thoughts with someone who understands us, and who shares common interests. Since humans are social creatures, it is no wonder friends are such a big part of their lives. One person can't fulfill every friendship function, and that is why most people have multiple friends and each friend is different. You don't necessarily spend the most time with them, but you often spend the most quality time with best friends, and have the most memories with them. Without friends, stress levels would be high, mostly for girls who enjoy talking to their friends about various problems. "Whether it 's just chatting on the phone or enjoying a coffee together, yakking it up with friends is vital for health and wellness." (Hauashi). Many people don't think about the health aspect of friends. Friends are very important because they help you emotionally, mentally and sometimes physically. "Real friends can be a source of self–esteem, affection, and good times. In times of despair, for example, true friends will offer hope." (Taylor)
Similar to the three types of friends, there are also types of best friends. There are friends who have known each other for a long time, and possibly their whole lives, so they become best friends. Some people become best friends because they have the same trials and they help one another by offering each other advice, which allows them to grow closer. Some friends have multiple things in common, so they are involved in a lot of the same things, such as sports, clubs, activities; and over time they become best friends. Best friends are people who have been close to each other for a while, they are the friends who talk deeply, and have very similar interests. People often keep in contact with best friends more than any other type of friend, and are true

Marxist Theory Of Class Division In Society
When viewed from a capitalistic perspective, there are class divisions in the current world based on differences between people who control factors of production (Bourgeois) and those who provide labor (proletariats). These classes have evolved from the Marxist theory of the history of class struggles. For a person to understand the class divisions and conflicts, the paper provides a detailed explanation of the theory. The paper also provides proof that the class division still exists in the current society. The paper also discusses criticisms and counters criticisms about the view that there are class divisions in the current workplaces and society.

Instead, they provide labor to the bourgeois (Gilbert, 2014). As the bourgeois own the means of production, they acquire power in society. They form the ruling class in the society. They are, therefore, able to control the proletariat. They use their wealth and power to protect their properties. The bourgeois class being in control of the factors of production mercilessly exploit the proletariat in the process of creating wealth for themselves.According to Marx, capitalism brings about its own destruction. It is because the class divide ultimately leads to a system of social revolution. As the bourgeois wealth depends on the labor of the proletariat class, the situation places power on the proletariats (Allan, 2005). The proletariats have also increased in number as they are joined by the petty bourgeois. Due to the exploitation by the bourgeois, the proletariats decide to come together in their large numbers and form unions where they fight against the dominance of the bourgeois. During the revolution, the capitalist state fades away and is replaced by a classless state that believes in the idea of categorizing people according to their abilities and not according to means of

Presidential Candidates: Division and Classification

You also have to pay the nominal filing fee charged to candidates entering the New Hampshire primary. That doesnВ№t sound so difficult. Anyone who can accomplish these two tasks may run for President. Usually, some unlikely people do. This year, the candidates include people from Phil Gramm to Jack Mabardy(Who in the world might he be?).

Dole knows what he wants to accomplish and has innovative ways of doing it. Powell has a large cult following and would be a great candidate. His only problem: he hasn't decided to run yet.
Arlen Spector believes the government should be "limited, but not uncaring or a do nothing government." His ideas sound good, but vague. Some of his ideas seem slightly less indecisive. He says American women should be free to make their own reproductive choices. Senator Phil Gramm also has a remote chance at the office. He vows to balance the budget and cut government spending and taxes. He is well known and says what people want to hear. He would be the ideal president if he could carry out his ideas. Dick Lugar wants to eliminate the IRS and improve the economy. He has a lot of amazing goals, but lacks practicality. And now we have : "the few, the proud, the obscure." Remember, anyone can run for president. Irwin Schiff knows how to present a good image. He even wrote a book about avoiding the inconvenience of paying federal taxes, I fought the law and the law won. Well, I'm sure his policies on reducing the national deficit would prove interesting. John Safran, a man old enough to remember World War One and model T cars, would provide an interesting addition to the ballot. He does have that experience thing going for him. Classification Essay Students
Being a student in today's society holds an immense amount of pressure to do one thing: graduate. Thirteen years of school prepare students for the next major steps of their lives. Every student faces many struggles and frustrations before graduation day arrives. One may be able to surmise a few details about a student before they put pencil to paper or even speak. One can also make assumptions about a student based on his or her seating position. Motivation, determination, and concentration will establish a student's amount of success. Students who contain these characteristics make up the most common category.
The final group of students are the overachievers. They sit prim and proper in the front row raising their eager hands. These workaholics are the ones whom teachers adore and whom fellow students despise. They often exceed the expectations of any teachers. They constantly work hard and are active in class. They take notes verbatim of what the teacher says, excel in group discussions, and much to the demise of the other students, raise the academic bar to an unattainable level. Although they are not often the greatest athletes, or the best at communicating with the opposite gender, they separate themselves with their cerebral work ethic. These scholars find reading entertaining, and would much rather solve a Rubik's cube than run a mile. One of them will be inevitably become Valedictorian, and will give a speech at the podium come graduation day. When analyzing these students, one could be looking at future doctors, engineers, and various activists.

They demand that jobs or responsibilities be done now and will issue orders or threats such as, "You get that room cleaned up or else..." The Drill Sergeant Parents take over ownership of the problem using threats and orders to solve the problem and uses lots of harsh words and very few actions. They use punishment such as pain and humiliation to serve as the teacher. I do not believe I fall into just one of these three categories. My Mom was more of a Helicopter Parent, so I knew I did not want to be the same way with my children. My Dad was more of a Drill Sergeant Parent and I have met many Drill Sergeant Parents and seen how that type of parenting affects the children later in life. I have known very few Consultant Parents, so I am not completely familiar with the effect that type of parenting can have on a child. I chose not to fall into just one category of parenting because I agree with some portions of each category and I disagree with some portions as well. As

How different we are! We deal with different people. These people can be our neighbors, class fellows, our friends or they can be our roommates. If I speak about my roommates, first I will categorize them into different groups. However roommates include people or students who come from different places, provinces or even from different countries so in this case they are categorized into various divisions. Roommates in this kind are reliable, sometimes joking, not too much speaking, and a little bit serious. They don't like to joke too much or if you joke with them, they will get serious soon. They are irascible in joking so you always cannot be kidding with them. As I said, interestingly, in our dormitory the only room which has different kinds of roommates is our room. It is such that other students call our room as "room of diversity". It's the name that they ascribed to us because we have almost all categories of roommates from different provinces with various nationalities. For instance, Sebqatulla one of my roommates is from Herat. Due to having some described characteristics of this class, he fits in the second category. He is serious when we speak to him with a serious tone and he is witty and joking when we do so. In a single word he, adjusts and fits himself in the any environment he locates. Another kind of roommates is conservative roommates. They are so careful about their relations with other people and students. Especially they care how to behave with their roommates. Roommates who include in this category are conservative and much cautious in terms of how to get relation and how his or her other roommates should behave with them. In our room I may go to this category of roommates. I am not that good a joker and get serious soon that is why my roommates don't joke much with me. Once my roommate

Cabinet Classification Classification and division occur everywhere we look. Almost every single thing belongs to some department or group, and maybe even more than just one. I am part of a division myself; I am a year two at Butler Community College. Like the classes in the Academy, I like to organize things in my home. Between all the different groups of belongings in my home, I place things specifically based on their classification. At home I drink hottea often and other warm drinks like hot chocolate and occasionally coffee. I have placed my cups and mugs in a specific order in the cabinet based on my preference. I have noticed that my order was determined by how much I like the cup or glass. There are three shelves in the cabinet with the cups and glasses. On the very top shelf the plastic cups and other cups we have saved from events are stored. I have one cup at the front of the top that is plastic. I figured that was because glasses break easier and it is more of a special thing to use a glass for me and I learned that from the only other person in my home, my mom. The name of the book I have written my book report is Pride and Prejudice by the author Jane Austen. The book was written in England between 1796 and 1813 when it was first published. Pride and Prejudice is about how young people from different classes fall in love and break all social norms by marrying each other. The story takes place in the late 18th century or the beginning of the 19th century in the English countryside. Mainly in Hertfordshire near the village Meryton where the Bennet family lives. The length of the period that the story takes place is well over a year. In England, at the time when the story takes place, there is a great class division. This class division is a key point in the book and all the problems are caused by it. In the beginning of the story Mrs. Bennet gets new of a wealthy gentleman named Mr. Bingley is moving to town. She gets very excited by these news and is eager to introduce her daughters to this man. At a dance Mr. Bingley dances multiple times with Jane Bennet, the oldest daughter, and they grow very fond of each other. Mr. Bingley's sister and his friend Mr. Darcy is also at the dance. He is a proud man and looks at himself as superior to all other people there. Elizabeth grows a distaste of Mr. Darcy after...show more content... and Mrs. Bennet. She lives with her parents and four sisters; Jane, Lydia, Mary and Catherine(Kitty) at the Longbourn House near the village of Meryton. Lizzy is the protagonist of the story. She is not like most other women at the time, she is a strong, independent woman. She is not eager to marry like her sisters Lydia and Kitty. She is also quite the opposite of her dear friend Charlotte Lucas who married Mr. Collins just to have a comfortable home and protection. Lizzy does not want to marry just for the sake of that she needs the romance. Another example is when she walked through muddy field to see her sister Jane that was sick at Mr. Bingley's

Understanding The Concept Of Division
The purpose of this lesson is to introduce the students to the concept of division. This will be somewhat of a review for the students who have had practice with division in past grade levels. It has been a long time since the students have had any practice with division, so this lesson will serve an introduction to the meaning of division, division vocabulary, as well as its relationship to multiplication. Students will be introduced to fact families as a way to show the connection between multiplication and division. The students will be able to see the relationship between a concept they have had a lot of practice with (multiplication), to a concept that might be new to them (division).
Common Core State Standards:
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.5.NBT.B.6: Find whole–number quotients of whole numbers with up to four–digit dividends and two–digit divisors, using strategies based on place value, the properties of operations, and/or the relationship between multiplication and division. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.
Student Learning Objective: Students will demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between multiplication and division through verbal and written communication.
Goals/Objectives of Lesson: What do you hope for/expect?
Before this lesson: Students will complete a written pre–assessment on division concepts using their prior knowledge. With guidance from the teacher and class notes,
