Packaging Structural Design
ner
About I am a designer who is passionate in design field. My aim is to make contribution to the society, bring better life via good design. This portfolio presents the projects that reflect my perspective of design; over the years I have developed projects mainly focus on people’s daily lives demands. My philosophy is to develop products based on functionality, fun and most important- affordability, make good design accessible for everyone. Being born in France, raised in Taiwan and having an MA degree in UK; the multi-cultural background allows me to get contact with different cultures, life styles and aspects of design. The work experience in packaging structural design also helps me to gain practical knowledge in product packaging and advertising, widens my mind and gives me different perspective in my career.
MAKE A LINE A great idea inspired by housework
Being inspired by daily housework – laundry, Make a Line is a solution to deal with entangled cloth hangers. To solve the problem, the design is to increase the thickness of the hangers. Besides, by adding a small piece of magnet in the centre, the hangers would attract each other by the magnetism, and will line up neatly when not being used. Morever, The hanger is designed with two elastic strings that socks can be hanged without clips.

on the light when there is sunlight?
This
lighting project is an experiment about “How human beings are obsessed with buttons/ switches? To do that I install 4 illuminated switches in each side of a box, in which each switch also represent a light. It is showed that people somehow still want to boots the switches on even it is rise and shine out there.
Model Making Process
First, cut the material into 6 pieces in the size of 15cm x 15cm and assemble them as a box.

Earphone + Hairband The concept of this project is mainly designed for women, to meet the aim the idea is to take the earphone as an accessory by combining it with hairband.
Combining the earphone with hairband, the earphone can be worn as a hairband while unused; the user can easily change it into earphone by twist the bottom and put the buds into the ear.

WHAT A Rubbish Can Reduce garbage Quantity = Volume
What
a Rubbish Hand is a conceptual design which
narrows down the opening part of the bin, forcing people to think twice before action, what can you do for the world with rubbish can?
Dealing with bins full of
f trash We always struggle with about-to-explode trash bin, there are 3 common procedures when doing it: 1. Press the rubbish as hard as you can. 2. Pull out the bag out of bin as hard as you can. 3. Oops, why there’s always an empty space in the bag?!
Instead of struggling at the end, why don’t we think about size down trash before throwing them away? More than that, this simple action may also reduce the total quantity of waste.
Size down the trash
Reduce the waste
1 2
If you minimum the size of the trash before throwing it into bag, the total v
of rubbish could be concentrated, extending the life of a trash bag and de the usage of plastic bags.
1 3
volume
In this way, a family used to produce 3 bags of trash per
ecrease
week may drop the number to 2, tens of thousands of family can help reduce tens of thousands bags of rubbish.
The idea simply narrow the opening of trash can, forcing people to size down the waste before throwing it into the bin. The design gets rid of the container form, focusing on the narrowed opening – it is more like a trash bag holder. Users can install and fix a trash bag with magnets on both sides of the hand-shaped holder, it can then be attached to the kitchen wall with the sucker on the back. The height and locations is changeable.
As the pictures below show, the shape of the trash bag will change in accordance with the rubbish, no wasted space by the shape limitation of a bin. The bag is easy to tie up and take out, no more struggling with the bin.

The experience in packaging structural design gains my knowledge of building a 3D object with flat material, allows me to think differently when transforming between 2D and 3D design; which inspires my different perspective in product design.
