Welcome to Chickenshed This season’s huge highlight will be the new spring show, Sharing Stages, which encompasses collaboration, partnership and performance. We often work in partnership with organisations who share similar values, and this production will be bringing together to the stage a range of pieces on which Chickenshed has collaborated with various amazing creative partners. It’s set to be thought-provoking, inspiring and will give audiences the chance to witness Chickenshed as part of a greater movement for social change. It will feature a large cast drawn from our membership, students and professional actors alongside our creative partners - and we can’t wait to share it with you. Following a very successful run last spring, Write Here, Write Now (formerly Emerging Writers’ Week) returns, which will continue to showcase a great array of new writing that reflects diverse experiences and backgrounds. In some cases the ink will be barely dry on the page, while other pieces will be more fully advanced along their creative journey! Other highlights include a variety of adult and children’s workshops, holiday schemes - which always prove popular and children’s places should be booked early to avoid disappointment children’s theatre along with the return of Tales Big Day Out, and world-class, award-winning musicians playing at Jazz at Chickenshed. We’re also hosting a fabulous Cuban band who are passionate about continuing the world famous Buena Vista legacy whilst giving this irresistible fusion of Spanish and African rhythms from Cuba a contemporary edge. In partnership with Talkies Community Cinema we’ll be screening the riveting 2015 documentary, Amy, which charts the life of the once-in-a-generation talent, Southgate girl Amy Winehouse. We look forward to welcoming you to Chickenshed soon!

Amy was a pure jazz artist in the most authentic sense, writing and singing from the heart using her musical gifts to analyse her problems. The combination of her raw honesty and supreme talent resulted in some of the most unique and adored songs of the modern era. From the director who brought us SENNA, this is the story of Amy Winehouse in her own words, featuring unseen archival footage and unheard tracks.
