Where it all started – the original chicken shed 1974
Welcome to Chickenshed – and our 40th year celebrations! As we launch another inspiring season of shows and workshops for all ages, we also invite you to join us in celebrating 40 years of Chickenshed. We have a plethora of events and exhibitions planned throughout 2014 to celebrate Chickenshed’s past, present and future. A beautiful commemorative book – An Awfully Big Adventure – is available to purchase now. Celebratory plans include a front of house exhibition depicting our rich history through art, a reunion weekend, and many more activities across the festival year. Several exhibitions in and around Chickenshed will be open free of charge to the public, so please keep checking our website and ensure you make time to see them during your visit. A huge highlight will be our Spring Show in March where we’ve lovingly selected an array of amazing moments from some of our most pivotal shows to celebrate our 40 years, as well as offering a glimpse into our future. To get you excited we’ve included a few photos from some previous performances throughout this brochure. Whether you have an interest or relationship with Chickenshed now, or know someone that did in the past, we hope to welcome you and re-connect with them during this special year. Other highlights this Spring include the return of the entertaining Emerging Writers’ Week which will showcase work from both new writers and those with more experience. We’ll have more of our fantastic jazz and comedy nights, Tales Shows, Big Days Out, performance workshops for children, and another season of our Community Chorus. Our compelling one-man show, The Rain That Washes, continues to go from strength to strength with a national tour following an amazing run at Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August 2013. Visit our website for information on venues and dates. We look forward to seeing you at Chickenshed soon.
