Welcome to Chickenshed You may well have seen our posters around Southgate and Enfield over the past few months promoting Chickenshed as “More than just a theatre” and this has never been more true than it is now. 2015 has seen the BBC launch its Get Creative initiative, a celebration of art and culture across the UK which encourages everyone to get involved with their local arts – and Chickenshed is a great place to come and get creative! Not only do we have a jam-packed new season with something for everyone to come and get involved with: from the Community Choir, to all the various performance and membership workshops, to our Talking Points (one with Nicholas Parsons no less!), shows in our intimate Studio Theatre such as Tales from the Shed and The Comedy of Errors, to music and comedy nights, we also offer outstanding educational and vocational courses. We have a bar and restaurant with free Wi-Fi and a lovely outside amphitheatre to relax in – all this, as well as being an extremely busy arts venue! The highlight of our embracing the Get Creative initiative will be our free Summer Arts Festival in July. This exciting event will feature different music, theatre, dance and performers from across the boroughs of Enfield and Barnet, all coming together at Chickenshed! This will be a great chance to find out about and get close to your local arts. We really want our venue to be open to all - our continuing partnership with StubHub!, which enables us to offer discounted tickets to 13-25 year olds, along with our usual concessionary prices, school group offers, support schemes and free events, we hope, gives everyone the opportunity to join us in celebrating creativity.

Talking Nicholas Parsons Points Just a Laugh a Minute Sun 21 Jun 7.30pm with post-show talk after interval Rayne Theatre (1hr 45mins) £20 (£15 concs) We are absolutely delighted to welcome the legendary Nicholas Parsons to Chickenshed for a fantastic one-off event! With his highly acclaimed, entertaining and vibrant oneman show, Chickenshed supporter Nicholas Parsons takes his audience on a humorous and nostalgic journey through the memorabilia of his long and eventful life, seeing the funny side of every situation as he highlights with superb and often hilarious observation those events that have shaped his career. His early struggles to enter the difficult and unpredictable world of show business and to achieve something in that amazing and challenging world, also the stories of how he survived in the demanding and heady world of entertainment and how he came to be one of the nation’s most popular entertainers. As a mimic and impressionist he not only recalls the incidents and events, he recreates them with vivid and amusing impersonations of the personalities involved. His comic timing and accurate observation creates a cast of characters that make this a fun evening of comedy which has the audience entertained and laughing throughout. Book soon to avoid disappointment! All proceeds will go to Chickenshed to support our work.

A fast, physical and furiously funny version of one of Shakespeare’s greatest comedies. Chickenshed’s unique performance style promises to deliver double trouble in a two-tone version of this wonderful tale of identical twins, mistaken identity and ever-mounting confusion! Two sets of twins, separated from birth, wind up in the city of Ephesus - which has banned citizens from Syracuse from ever entering the city… this town, is ‘coming like a ghost town. Egeon, a Syracuse merchant who has definitely done too much too young, has come to Ephesus in search of his son. Who’s looking for his brother and mother. Who were both lost at sea many years ago. Oh, and the brothers are identical twins… and they both have servants who just happen to be long-lost twins too! Utter chaos follows as the whole town mistakes each for the other - including the twins themselves, and Egeon is given just one day by the ruler of Ephesus to straighten right out - or else lose his life! This show is Shakespeare one step beyond, so stop your messin’ around – and book now!
