CHIFUNDO SAPUWA 0327378 "success isn't measured by money or power or social rank. success is measured by your discipline and inner peace" - Mike Ditka Now as I am come to the end of the first chapter of my architecture journey. I have learnt a lot like architecture is more than just it's structure, form, materials, space but how it impacts peoples' lives. Design school has taught me that architecture creates opportunities and solves problems to enable people to get what they need and more. Personal I fall on my philosophy of African Child- where I aim to create a space that will give people their needs while adding nature, openness, feeling and experience. So that architecture is not just a building for its program but also the the memories it creates in peoples lives. Although my love hate relationship with architecture it has been the one thing that powers me through and has taught me more than just building. It has taught me so much that I will carry for the rest of my life like respect, discipline, persistence and more . Throughout my journey in design school it has put a whole new set of perspectives on buildings but also life, to say it is one of my greatest loves.
MUAR CULTURE AND INNOVATION CENTRE: ARTS AND CRAFT HUB
REVELATION TO REVOLUTION
Muar is said to be the oldest town in Malaysia but with poor documentation some of their history has been lost. The culture and history of Muar is yet to be revealed. The state of Muar seems as if they are waiting for a REVELATION as if their history and culture archives will just come back. The Culture and Innovation Centre is to help Muar find their culture and as well help them build on what they already know and have to push Muar forward in a REVOLUTION
It should empower multifaceted communities and assets of Muar such as artists and performers, local delicacies, historical and cultural architecture and furniture. It aims to become a dynamic public reference with fresh perspectives and full appreciation locally, nationally and internationally, for its culturally rich and diverse platform. By producing work and supporting events that are culturally engaging. Muar Culture and Innovation Centre should serve, educate and inspire the public in this vibrant and progressive little town that we call Muar.
The design aims to build the culture and innovation culture through the method of streets as other cities and towns in Malaysia have done so and successful. As they have elevated their street to be like a stage to showcase their culture and history.
