It's a common sense to seek medical help when one falls ill, but this is not the case with some people. But sadly, this is not the case with some people. Zhang Jinsheng, aged 21, living in northeast China's Liaoning province burnt his arm accidentally. But he refused to receive medical treatment. Consequently, he died of septemia in November 1998 caused by the woundinfection.[1] Li Qiaoying, 58 years old, felt sick in October 1998. But she refused to be treated at hospital and died of cerebral thrombosis in the following December.Twodaysbeforeherdeath, she was suffering from paralysis and lost the ability of talking. Sun Xixian was a retired veteran cadre retired from a financial institution in Dalian City, Liaoning province, and was constantly ill for a long time.On May31,1999, she didn't feel well but still refused to go to hospital. His husband knelt down in front of her and begged her to see a doctor but was refused bluntly. On the early morning of June 1, Sun died because of the delay in seeking medical treatment.[4] There are a lot of such cases and they all have one thing in common, that is, those dying of diseases due to their refusal to get any medical help are Falun Gong practitioners. Statistics show that more than 1,400 persons died, directly or indirectly, of Falun Gong before it was banned July 1999. This is one of the key reasons why Chinese Government banned the group. Even after Falun Gong was banned as a cult, some Falun Gong practitioners still refused medical help and then died. Falun Gong practitioner Hu Guangying, a retired worker in Shanghai aged59, caught an ordinary dermatosis in January 2001, but she resolutely refused to accept medical treatment, and finally died of purulent infection on the affected part.[5] Yao Huimin living in Jianhua District of Qiqihar City, Hei Long Jiang province, had got diabetes; as a practitioner, he refused to seek medical help, and when Li Jing, his wife, begged him in tears to go to hospital, he
replied: "The Master is testing me with this so as to eliminate karma; don't be afraid, Master will help me to eliminate karma and to remove my disease as well." But he died of illness in April 2005, and he finally woke up to reality before death: "Falun Gong killed me."[6]
These are merely a few cases of death among Falun Gong practitioners caused by refusing medical help, for Falun Gong organizations deliberately hid from the public more deaths of practitioners, especially those of overseas practitioners.
In the last two years, several overseas Falun Gong leaders died because of refusing medical help, making most practitioners feel lost and confused. In March 2006, Falun Gong core member Li Guodong died of liver cancer in NewYork.[7] Feng Lili, a core member of Falun Gong organization in US, claimed that "Falun Gong has magic effect in building up health and keeping fit." Her illness was diagnosed as pancreas cancer but she refused to take medicine or to go to hospital and died in Houston on June 22,2006.[8] On the New Year's Day of 2007, Falun Gong core member Zhu Genmei who lived in Germany died unexpectedly because of blood infection resulting from delayed treatment as she refused to have medical treatment for her diabetes.[9]
