AGORA MIXED-USE HOUSING MADE WITH INDUSTRIAL BUILDING COMPONENTS
Industrial building components and standardized construction systems often provide economically interesting alternatives to classical real estate developments. Though in appearance a production hall, this mixed-use building demonstrates how industrial types and materials can be repurposed to respond to current housing needs. The primary structure in this project, built from standardized, precast concrete elements and galvanized steel-frame construction, offers a generous space on the ground floor for a market hall. The saw- tooth roof generates interesting spatial qualities for the dwellings underneath it. Sandwich panels made out of the same corrugated steel cladding as the remaining surfaces of the envelope offer an effective solution to maintain a unified look in the façades. The archetype of the gas station here serves as inspiration for a canopy covering the backyard plaza.

URBAN ISLAND SMALL PLOT SIZES PROVIDE THE AFFORDABILITY TO SMALLER INVESTORS
Cities expand, driven by flows of capitals and uncontrolled individualistic interests. However, islands are places of resistance. Resisting to these two forces means to harness and enclose them in a political and physical framework through the urban block. Capitalistic interests, subjected to the public, can play a strategic role in the creation of collectivity and functional density. Individualistic expressions, constrained in narrow row houses and grouped into clusters, shape the urban form and enrich the public sphere. Emphasising the concept of minimums and exploiting regulation gaps, this project disposes of the standardisation, speculation and homogeneity of the real estate market and, above all, triggers a research on endless possibilities of new ways of living. perspective, the housing stock would respond more efficiently to the changing desires of the population.

HOUSE WITH A GALLERY BCR: 0.645 FAR: 1.65 Height: 10m The owner is an architect and plans to establish a new office. He lives with his curator wife, who manily manages the gallery in this house and sometimes works for private galleries in Rote Insel. They built this multifunctional house which combines a studio, a gallery and living spaces for adapting their flexible uses.
HOUSE FOR A PAIR OF SIBLINGS BCR: 0.65 FAR: 1.58 Height: 9.7m The owners are the second generation of immigrant. One of these brothers works in Deutsche Bahn, so his daily routine is regular. The other is an athlete and usually trained in different places in irregular hours. Although they are siblings, they need their own private spaces in order not to interfere each other.
ROW HOUSE MODELS
IN BETWEEN LIVING IN THE ALLEYWAY IN BETWEEN TWO ROW HOUSES
Taichung, where is one of crowded cities in Taiwan, is continually attractive to outsiders due to many job opportunities. However, in order to seek for houses/shelters for outsiders, soaring house prices become big obstacles. Therefore, stocking dwelling into the passage between particular two shophouses might be an useful solution. With the structure support of adjacent buildings, stocked dwelling space can be supported without extra sturcture. In addtion, for avoiding cutting off original function of the passage, ground floor used as a passage gallery which still connects two main roads.
Programs: Housing and Gallery Location: Taichung, Taiwan 2008 Competition Adviser: Hong-Kin Phang
PUBLIC AREA
Spaces of 2F, 3F, 4F and 5F are connected as an auditorium by continuous staircase.
LIVING AREA
Kitchen, living room and bedroom are at the ooposite direction of public space.
PASSAGE AS A GALLERY Maintaining a passage for connecting two roads by leaving the bulk of structure off the ground, supporting it by the adjacent row houses.
BEAMS
Supported by the adjacencies and connecting truss system
TRUSS SYSTEM
For carrying vertical load
STRUCTURE
Apart from supporting horizontal load by the adjacent buildings, truss system also play an integral role of carrying members for vertical load.
AUDITORIUM
Due to the inconvenience of narrow space, long side space should be utilised effiently. Taking straight staircase as an auditorium can contain more people.
LEAVE THE BULK OF STRUCTURE OFF THE GROUND
In order to maintain the original function of passage and create a public space for pedestrians, all the main structure is raised.

SUGAR SAUNA TEMPORARY BUILDING MATERIAL REFORMED BY NATURAL ENVIRONMENT
The site is located on the leeward side of the Jiujiangfeng, which blows in September in Hsinchu. As its strong and warm wind, sauna oven can be helped to combust. In addition, Jiujiangfeng melts sugarwall and it will flow down and accumulate in the sauna room and cool water pool. Finally, original sauna bathroom will become ruins and hide in the forest.ly, original building becomes the ruin and hide in the forest. The sauna bathroom produces heat and humidity, and they would diffuse into air. The sugarwall and the sugarroof will be melted and destroyed gradually by them. Due to the mateiral property, the structure of sauna bathhouse interacts with the collapsing procedure by time.

MATERIAL In this project, the property of materials should be related to the environment. As we know, humidity and heat are the two main facotrs to reform candy or sugar. And the site is located in the moutain forest, so rain, wind and temperature are always unstable. Therefore, what if taking sugar as the building material?

FAMICTORY A NEW TYPE OF DOMESTIC FACTORY THAT BALANCES WORKING AND LIVING
Domestic factory links the value of the family and the efficiency of the factory, but it also decreases the quality of life. For this reason, the domestic factory boom in the 1970s has been declined nowsdays. In order to redefine the lifestyle of home-based factory, solving confliction and contradiction within the overlap of family factory becomes a chance to find out advantages of domestic factory. It is named as famictory - to live with factory.
Programs: Housing and Factory Location: Changhua, Taiwan 2012 Bachelor Thesis Adviser: Hao-Hsiu Chiu
OVERHEAD CRANE Overhead crane, which is hanged on the rail, participates the working process, thus, the efficiency of the factory can be improved. In addition, overhead crane coordinates with ground crane to change different building layout.
GROUND CRANE In order to combine working with living, crane, which is common for carrying large freight in factory, is taken as a installation for altering the layout in the famictory. Through these differences, the events occurred in ambiguous in between space in original factory building are represented.
