I

t i s o b v i o u s t h a t Te m p l e S t r e e t i s prosperous and bustling because of the crowds and the Night Market. But a little p ar t o f t he c rowds rem ain silent a nd qu iet. Th e y j u s t g e t a s e at i n t h e b u s y s t re e t b u t keep staying in their own silence. This interesting contrast between still and m o t i o n b r i n g s m e a n e w v i e w o f Te m p l e St reet.

This Sunglasses St all has a co m p lexed sap ce f i lled with piles o f g o o d s i n a g o o d p ro p o r t i o n . I t cove r a n d e n t ra n ce s a l s o make a good interactions with its neighboring spaces for t h e c i rc u l at i o n f l ow. Th e re fo re, u s i n g t h e s e c t i o n 1 i s b e t te r for showing the transition between the outdoor and semii ndo o r sp aces.

e built our model and made most of the parts by hands. Although it may not be accurate as the laser-cutting product, this handmade process helps us think carefully for each of the building steps and deal with different types of objects structures and m ate r i a l s.

ombining all the group models, our class finally create a physical model of Tem ple Stree t. Thi s p rogre s s d o e s n' t o n l y s tre n g th e n o ur m o deli ng sk ills, b ut also enrich our building construction knowledges. Apar t from re -doing an existing a rc h i t e c t u re, I a l s o l e a r n h o w t o i m p ro ve a n d c re a t e a n e w s p a c e. A

fter doing researches on the previous 3 design factors, I found that my results are not deep enough for learning a b o u t t h e s i t e d e s i g n . A n d I d e c i d e d t o fo c u s o n t h e l i g h t i n g f a c t o r b e c a u s e i t i s t h e m a j o r e l e m e n t fo r Te m p l e S t re e t . Th e artificial lighting emitted by the stalls of the Night Market i s a c t u a l l y a s y m b o l o f Te m p l e S t r e e t . A p a r t f r o m t h e l i g h t sources, I also study using different ways of showing the li ght i ng a nd how th e l i g hti n g i nte ra c t w i th t he site.

oing the mapping a n a l y s i s o f t h e Te m p l e Street lighting, I can see the flow and movement of the light. This helps me know more about the circulation and people activites on the temple street. One map can show more than one desi gn f ac tors. And it a ls o makes me realize that the artificial lighting not o nly shows the pros per it y o f Te m p l e S t r e e t , b u t also the problem of light p o llut io n.

I

nspired by the lighting of the Night Market, I would like to design a shelter with various layers above the hawker stand or iginally. However, I found it too d u l l a n d s i m p l e. A s p at i a l d e s i gn should be multi-functional with the connection to the site of 6m x 6m x 6m .

f i r s t l y t r i e d t o d e s i g n t h e p l a t fo r m i n t wo layers with some variations of levels. But the composition is too complicated and it is not suitable for a cubic area with each side of 6m. Although it looks good, it is not a good design for the users because of over limitation of s p a ce s. Th e re fo re, avo i d u s i n g to o m u c h el ements c a n b r i ng i m prove m e nts.

I

s the previous works are too complicated with not too much effec tive programmes, I tr ied to design the spaces by reduction from a cube instead of the addition method. This m e t h o d a l l ows m e to c re ate > 5 s p a ce s with no limitation of layers. And it helps strengthen the connection and linkage between them. I want this design can act as a good place of rest ing i nd enter t ai nm ents.
