DEAR READER,
As a true dawdler, the editor’s letter is the very last piece of the magazine I work on. Being a visual person, my goal for these pages of inspiration and advice is that they’ll speak for themselves. However, I know how fortunate I am to have a blank space in this magazine dedicated entirely to my own thoughts and opinions. Therefore, I would like to take this opportunity to talk about something dear to my heart: Taylor Swift.
BY AARON EHINGERPHOTOGRAPHY
Bear with me here! I’m writing this letter in December, and one of my favorite year-end traditions is diving into my Spotify Wrapped curation. As a surprise to no one who knows me, Taylor Swift reigned supreme as my most listened-to artist this year. My Wrapped playlist conjures memories of my fabulous experience at Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour. I’ve been a Swift fan since her debut album, so you can imagine my anticipation leading up to the tour date! And even while I type this, I’m still thinking about eras.
If you’re unfamiliar (where have you been?), The Eras Tour is Taylor Swift’s stadium concert junket that celebrates the artist’s different musical phases, or “eras.” Inspired by Swift’s approach, I believe we should all adopt the practice of celebrating our own eras, particularly the eras of our love stories. From the butterflies of a budding romance to the deep-rooted connection of a lifelong partnership, each era of love brings its own evolution.
As a wedding magazine, you might expect me to continue this letter by declaring that your wedding day will be the most important day of your life. However, love, commitment and the growth of your relationship extend far beyond the boundaries of a single day. While your wedding day is undoubtedly special, remember it merely serves as the gateway to a new era — one that will continue to unfold, grow and flourish long after the celebration ends. By approaching wedding planning through this perspective, you can shift your focus from creating a flawless event to cherishing the era you are currently in and the one you are about to enter.
In the wedding industry, I repeatedly encounter wedding planning content saturated with negative language. Lots of resources emphasize the stress, expense and frustration associated with the process. So in this issue, we have made an effort to remove such negative language, while still being realistic. Because if you approach this chapter preparing for stress and anxiety, that’s what you’ll feel. But when you look at the beauty of a wedding through the lens of entering a new era, a unique experience materializes.
With this mindset, we’ve thoughtfully curated every page of this magazine to help you plan confidently. From venue guides to vendor viewpoints to wedding fashion inspiration, you will find a comprehensive planning blueprint within these pages. I sincerely hope this issue leaves you as excited about your wedding planning journey as I was about attending The Eras Tour. And if the process becomes challenging or stressful, remember: breathe in, breathe through, breathe deep, breathe out. It’s time to celebrate your new era.
Stay Beautiful,

Obtaining a Georgia Marriage License
REQUIREMENTS
Both parties must be present at the county clerk at the time of application in order to obtain a marriage license.
In Fulton County, the signed marriage license should be returned to the probate court within 30 days of the ceremony. You will then receive your marriage certificate in the mail within 30 days.
WHO MAY APPLY
Unmarried people who are at least 18 years of age, of sound mind, and have no living spouse from a prior un-dissolved marriage can apply for a marriage license. If at least one applicant is a resident of Georgia, a marriage license can be issued at a probate court in any county. If neither applicant is a Georgia resident, then you must get your license issued from the county where the ceremony is taking place.
Exceptions:
• If you are 17 years of age when applying for a marriage license, you must show that you have been emancipated for no less than 15 days and present a certificate of completion of separate specialized premarital counseling for each applicant, even if one applicant is over 18.
WHAT TO PROVIDE
Both partners must be present at the time of application and will need to bring proof of age, proof of divorce (if applicable) and a method of payment. Accepted documents include: birth certificate, driver’s license, state ID, military ID, resident alien ID or passport.
COST
A marriage license fee differs depending on the county and ranges from $16-$76. Each county offers a discount for completing a premarital education course. Check with your local probate court for restrictions on payment.
For Fulton County, marriage licenses are $56 (cash/credit/debit) or $16 if you provide to the court a Certificate of Completion for a Qualified Premarital Education Program. This premarital education must be completed within 12 months prior to the application of the marriage license and the couple must undergo the education together.
WAITING PERIOD/ EXPIRATION OF LICENSE
Georgia doesn’t have a waiting period before the license can be used. In some counties the license doesn’t expire, but in others, the license expires after six months. Also, verify how many days you have to return the license for filing.
Looking to get married somewhere other than Georgia? Visit atlantastyleweddings.com/planning-tools to learn about marriage license laws in other areas of the Southeast.
Where to Go
Marriage licenses are issued by county probate courts, so where you receive your marriage license can depend on residency and ceremony location. Since procedures for applications vary by county, call your county clerk’s office to verify requirements, hours and additional locations. Some counties require an appointment, so be sure to schedule as needed.

Wedding Budget Breakdown
There are so many options when it comes to allocating your money. Start the process by nailing down a total budget. Once that is set, you can break down the entire budget using this helpful guide. Based on national averages, this guide will give you a good starting point to know what amount you should be willing to spend for each vendor. Of course, this is a fluid guide. If you are set on splurging for your dream wedding dress, accounting for 30% of your wedding budget, go for it! Just be sure to adjust the other items accordingly.
Once you’ve established your budget and allocated it accordingly, you’re all done thinking about finances, right? Wrong! Enter the taboo world of tipping. No one wants to intentionally stiff someone, but how do you know what is standard? Let’s break it down.
To start off, aside from contracts that include it, tipping is not required for most vendors. However, when a vendor goes above and beyond for you, tipping is greatly appreciated! Typically, it is not standard practice to tip the owner of the service provided. However, many vendors — such as catering — have waitstaff that deserve special thanks.
Sometimes, gratuity is included in your invoice, so be sure to check and don’t assume it is or isn’t. Some vendors include total gratuity for their staff in the fee, so don’t hesitate to doublecheck.
Pro Tip: To avoid forgetting during the whirlwind of your big day, prepare your tips beforehand. Head to the bank for some cash and create tip envelopes, labeled for each vendor. You can assign one of your attendants or family members the task of distributing the tips on the wedding day.
15-20% Hair and Makeup Artists, each
15-20% Chauffeurs or Drivers 15% Wedding Consultant/Planner
10-15% Bartenders, of bar tab
10-15% DJ
$100-200 Venue Coordinator
$100-200 Catering Manager
$50-200 Photographer/Videographer Assistants, each
$20-50 Live Musicians, per member
$15-20 Waitstaff, per server
$1-2 Valet Attendants, per car
$1-2 Coat Check Attendants, per guest
What’s almost as good as a tip? A glowing review and referrals! If you enjoyed your service, leave your vendor a positive review — they will be grateful!

WEDDING GOWN SHOPPING ADVICE FROM THE BRIDAL BUNNY
WRITTEN BY Dasha Jackson, Founder & Styling Consultant at The Bridal Bunny, LLC
I’m Dasha, a traveling bridal stylist based out of Atlanta who helps brides discover their ideal wedding style. I offer my expertise to assist brides in person on their big day! After years of working in bridal salons as a sales consultant, I noticed that brides often faced similar issues. They would come in unprepared and leave without finding the perfect dress, stripping them of their gown-shopping experience. It was heartbreaking to witness their disappointment due to conflicts with their budget, style choice, comfort and timelines. I realized that with proper preparation, bridal appointments could be empowering, enlightening and fun experiences for brides. That’s why I started The Bridal Bunny LLC, a wedding dress concierge service that provides styling and education for brides and bridal brands.

Before brides embark on the journey to find the perfect wedding dress, there are a few things to keep in mind. Here are some essential tips to help make the most out of your bridal gown shopping experience.
1 DETERMINE FINANCIAL COMFORT LEVEL
I encourage you to know how much you’re prepared to invest in a gown. Preferably, this should be done before you start dress shopping so you can visit bridal salons and fall in love with gown collections that align with your price range. Being knowledgeable about styling possibilities in terms of cost will empower you and help you make a better-informed decision.
Additionally, keep in mind that the gown price doesn’t typically include alterations, so be sure to factor that into your total budget.
2 ASSESS YOUR PERSONAL STYLE
To find the perfect wedding dress, it’s important to first assess your personal style. While it’s good to have an idea of what you like, don’t be afraid to experiment with different styles to determine which ones flatter your body type the most. Remember, the most important thing is feeling comfortable and confident on your special day.
To determine your personal style, try the following:
Learn Your Body Type
When selecting a wedding dress, it’s important to keep your body type in mind. Certain styles may complement your figure better than others. For instance, an A-line dress may be the most flattering if you have a pearshaped figure. While if you have an hourglass figure, a mermaid or trumpet style may accentuate your curves beautifully.
Look for Inspiration
Browsing bridal magazines and websites can provide you with inspiration and help you narrow down your options when shopping. Creating a mood board using Pinterest or Canva is also an excellent way to visualize your desired look.
Try on Different Styles
Don’t be afraid to try on different styles and silhouettes to find the perfect dress for you. Keep in mind that alterations may likely be necessary to achieve the ideal fit. Once you’ve found the dress of your dreams, ask about the timeline for delivery and any additional costs for alterations and accessories.
Consider Your Wedding Theme
The location and theme of your wedding can also play a role in your dress selection. For instance, if you’re having a beach wedding, a lightweight, flowing dress may be more appropriate than a heavy ball gown. If you’re having a traditional church wedding, a more classic dress style may be more fitting.
3 SCHEDULE AHEAD OF TIME
When it comes to wedding dress shopping, preparation is key. First, call ahead to schedule an appointment with bridal salons that interest you. Once you’ve scheduled your appointments, inquire about each salon/designer’s gown shipping timeline. Some dresses take longer to arrive than others, so it’s important to plan accordingly. Take into account any additional time needed for alterations, fittings, steaming or pressing. By staying organized and planning ahead with your dress shopping process, you can avoid additional stress and ensure a beautiful, well-fitted gown for your special day.
4
BRING SUPPORTIVE FRIENDS AND FAMILY
Dress shopping can be a scary task, but it doesn’t have to be. By bringing along supportive friends or family members, you can ensure the process is enjoyable and stress-free.
When selecting your entourage, keep the following in mind:
• Choose a few close friends or family members who have your best interests at heart. Too many opinions can be overwhelming, so keep the group small and manageable.
• Look for honest and supportive individuals who will help you feel confident and beautiful in your dress.

They should offer their opinions but also respect your choices and preferences.
• Remember, this is your special day, and your opinion matters the most. Don’t be afraid to speak up and express what you like and don’t like. Your friends and family are there to support you and help you find a dress that makes you feel amazing.
Finally, enjoy the process! This is a memorable moment in your life, and it should be fun and exciting. Don’t worry about finding the “perfect” dress — focus on finding one that makes you feel confident and beautiful on your big day. ■

FEEL BEAUTIFUL, LOOK BEAUTIFUL
WRITTEN BY Alexandra

While you don’t need to change anything about your appearance, it’s understandable if you wish to include some new pampering elements into your pre-wedding routine. In the spirit of entering this new chapter, consider some new inner and outer beauty regimens. If you want to enliven your beauty routine for the occasion, consider these tips to feel and look your most beautiful.
TIP: Enjoy primping and pampering, but don’t forget to exercise self-love. If you spend the months leading up to your wedding trying to change your appearance, you won’t look or feel like yourself on the big day. Remember: confidence and self-assurance are the most radiant beauty enhancers.
BEST FACE FORWARD
Your face and the joy it exudes are the stars of the show for your wedding. If you have skin concerns you want to address, consult a dermatologist at least six months before your wedding. They’ll be able to give you the best advice on what to do — and what not to do — to prep your skin. Alternatively, see an esthetician for facial treatment and product recommendations. In the spirit of pampering, we recommend getting a few relaxing facials during your planning process. A facial can make you feel rejuvenated and ready to shine!
TIP: If you plan to book facial treatments, start early and get your skin accustomed to the process. You don’t want to risk uncomfortable breakouts or reactions too close to your wedding day.
FROM THE INSIDE OUT
The simplest way to improve your overall health is to hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. You’ll be surprised how much of a difference getting your daily eight glasses of water will make. Entice yourself to stay hydrated by purchasing a cute water bottle and always keep it nearby.
TIP: Many find that lowering alcohol consumption makes them feel happier and healthier. Opt for non-alcoholic cocktails made with zero-proof spirits or have fun with flavorful mocktails.
MANE ATTRACTION
Regular trims are a must, even if you’re growing your hair out. No matter how talented your wedding day hairstylist is, you have to give them a good base to work with. While at the salon, talk with your stylist about your hair type and the look you’d like on your wedding day. They can give product suggestions and tips for enhancing your natural shine.
TIP: To avoid wispy frizzes and breakage, avoid daily washing and heated styling products. If you feel too far gone, try a deep conditioning treatment about a month before your big day.
CAREFUL WITH COLOR
If you regularly get your hair dyed, you know that nothing makes your hair look shinier and lovelier than a fresh dye job! However, we recommend sticking with a color or style you’ve rocked before. Experimenting with dyes right before your wedding could lead to a color you really aren’t thrilled about — and we all know
how difficult and damaging it can be to try and fix hair hues.
TIP: For any color processes, talk with your stylist about the best shades for you. For more expert insight from your stylist, also share the color of your wedding attire, if you plan on getting a spray tan, what your wedding party will wear and the overall aesthetic of your day.
BODY BEAUTIFUL
The face is not the only place that deserves some wedding TLC — your whole body should be pampered! To avoid skin blemishes or discolorations, regularly use a loofah or body scrub to exfoliate. Exfoliation washes away any dead skin and excess oils that could clog pores, leaving your skin soft, smooth and glowing for your wedding.
TIP: Because your loofah helps eliminate dead skin cells on your body, it’s a prime location for bacteria to grow. Make sure you’re replacing your loofah every month or so.
UP THE SPF
We are all about having a fun, sunkissed glow, but no tan is worth damaging your skin. And we’re not just talking about long-term damages, but immediate ones like sunburns and discoloration, too. Get into the habit of applying sunscreen or a moisturizer with SPF daily — even if it looks overcast. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends using sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher, broad-spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays and water resistance (aad.org). Don’t forget to stay in the shade when the UV index is high!
TIP: If you’re set on being a few hues darker on your wedding day, skip the tanning bed and consider a custom airbrush spray tan or gradual self-tanner mousse. Start testing your options a couple of months out to make sure you’re happy with the results by the time the wedding comes along.
STRESS BUSTERS
It has long been proven that exercise and physical activity decrease stress. Regular jogging or quick walks can help ease wedding planning headaches. Often, the discussion around fitness is about changing your physical appearance, but remember to keep a productive mindset! Instead of striving for a specific appearance or weight, shift your focus towards prioritizing overall well-being and celebrating what your body can do.
TIP: Get your heart rate up by taking dance classes. Ease the wedding planning stresses while breaking a sweat and learning a salsa routine to tear up the dance floor with.
NAILED IT
More people will ask to see your ring than you could ever imagine, so make sure those nails look their best. Achieve healthy, strong and dazzling nails by scheduling routine manicure appointments. Complete with a hand massage and moisturizing treatments, manicures help release the stress that you’re holding in your digits. Plus, who can resist all the fun nail polish options? Take a break from sending emails and give your hands some love.
TIP: Well-hydrated feet resist blisters better than dry, cracked feet. When scheduling your manicure appointments, don’t forget to add on a pampering pedicure, too.
GET ACCUSTOMED
If you want to deviate from your everyday look for the aisle, consider giving some new elements a test run. The months leading up to your wedding provide the opportunity to experiment with false lashes, hair extensions and other

beauty enhancements you may have been hesitant to try in the past. For instance, if you’ve never worn false lashes, they may initially feel uncomfortable and heavy. However, if you adore how they make your eyes pop and want them for your wedding look, consider gradually incorporating them into your beauty routine to get accustomed to the feel. Some beauty additions require time to adjust to, like hair extensions, acrylic nails and matte lipstick, to name a few.
TIP: Be honest. If you’re not confident with the results of your beauty trial, tell your artist(s). A professional won’t get upset or offended. Instead, they will appreciate your honesty and work to achieve something you both love.
MAKE A MOOD BOARD
When it comes to your wedding day hair and makeup, putting into words what you want can be challenging. What you consider a smokey eye could mean something else to a makeup artist! When working with your makeup artist, provide reference photos. Photos can articulate what you have in mind better than vague descriptive words like “bronzed” or “natural.”
TIP: Curate a digital mood board by gathering your favorite looks as you come across them. Whether it’s a Pinterest board, folder on your computer desktop or a “saved collection” on Instagram, having a centralized place to save beauty looks will help refine your preferences. When it comes time for your beauty trial, be prepared to wow your stylists with the clarity of your vision!
POSITIVE INFLUENCES ONLY
Prioritize a supportive and positive circle of family and friends to uplift you. Looking through beauty inspiration, cosmetic treatments and advice can be a lot to take in. As hard as it is, avoid negative self-talk and comparisons to others. Surround yourself with people who love how you look, whether glammed up or comfy cozy.
TIP: Unfollow or mute anyone on social media who makes you feel lesser. Even the most confident people fall victim to comparing themselves to others. Remove the temptation of negative thoughts and curate feed that empowers your own beauty.
SWEET DREAMS
As cliche as it sounds, don’t discount the value of a good night’s sleep. Rest isn’t something you can procrastinate on! Keep dark undereye circles and fatigue at bay by establishing a healthy sleep schedule. We recommend turning bedtime into a luxurious experience by crafting a glamorous routine. Consider adding relaxing accessories such as a sound machine, silk sleep mask, earplugs, sleep-enhancing
pillow mist, aromatherapy diffuser or a cozy weighted blanket. These additions can enhance your sleep environment and promote a more indulgent and restful night’s sleep.
TIP: If stress keeps you from a good night’s sleep, try natural sleep aids like melatonin, magnesium, valerian root or lavender. There’s no shame in getting some help!
DIAL IT UP … A BIT
Your makeup artist undoubtedly has some jaw-dropping makeup looks in their portfolio, but be cautious with how bold you go for this occasion. It’s tempting to go all out and transform yourself, but we suggest only dialing your natural beauty up a few notches. You don’t want to look like a stranger to your partner!
TIP: Tell your makeup artist what your regular makeup routine is and what makeup looks you feel best in. They’ll be able to take your daily look and elevate it into a wedding vibe that is enhanced but still “you.” ■

North Georgia’s Montaluce Winery mirrors the picturesque Tuscany region in this stylish vision of organic romance. The rolling hills, vineyards and rustic architecture synonymous with Tuscany find a beautiful reflection in this styled shoot, conveying the timeless charm of the Italian countryside. A curated color palette of olive green, terracotta and Chianti red pays homage to the region’s natural beauty, enveloping the scene in a warm and inviting ambiance. The thoughtful flat-lay details and the incorporation of organic fruit and nut elements showcase a vision that transcends geography.

We wanted to explore the natural beauty found at the venue and showcase an elevated design that pairs modern and traditional design elements. We used rich tones to complement the Tuscan architecture and added pops of fruit and color to give the design an effortless and playful feel.

Colorful wedding details are on trend right now, and I wanted to showcase that by showing that color in a wedding can be beautiful and fun. SETTING SCENE THE Types of Wedding Celebration Venues
When planning their wedding, many couples start with selecting and securing their venue. After all, your venue will ultimately influence your celebration’s mood, logistics and design choices. From the rehearsal dinner to the ceremony to the reception, there are a lot of options for what your wedding landscape will be. Keep things simple and streamlined by planning all your festivities in one spot or treat your guests to several locations. Whatever you choose as your venue(s), take into account the aesthetics and overall vision, but also think about these important aspects:
• Location — How easily will guests be able to arrive and exit your venue? Is the venue located near hotels? Do you want something within the city or in the suburbs? How far are you willing to travel?
• Cost — Will you have to move around other budget items to accommodate a specific venue? Does your desired wedding date have a higher peak-season rate?
• Amenities & Decor — How much will the venue provide, and how much will you need to bring yourself? How many restrooms are there and what are they like? Is it handicap accessible? Is there a catering kitchen?
• Size — What is the maximum capacity? Will the venue be too large or too small for your guest list?
• Preferred Vendors — Does the venue have a list of preferred vendors you’re limited to?
• Privacy — How private or public will the venue be? Is there a risk of strangers and passersby stumbling into it? What is security like?

HOTEL OR RESORT
Wedding logistics are a breeze when you book a hotel wedding. Hosting your wedding at a hotel or resort is a great option if you anticipate a lot of out-of-town guests. On-site accommodations ease the need for wedding-day transportation, and it helps keep everyone in a central locale. Plus, there’s an added layer of guest safety, as no one will need to find a sober driver at the end of the night — they can just go up the elevator to their room! Many hotels and resorts offer a variety of celebration locations, from their hotel restaurant as the rehearsal dinner venue to a ballroom for the ceremony to a hospitality suite for getting ready the day of. The value of all the amenities a hotel provides is hard to overlook.
PRIVATE RESIDENCE
Private residences have sentimental value that a standard venue can’t replicate. They provide a completely private and intimate experience as the venue is not open to the public. While this type of venue might not cost you anything to book (if it is a residence of a family member or friend), it might not necessarily save you money. In the end, you’ll likely need to bring in external coordinators, staff, set-up crews and more to ensure the venue operates as cohesively as a dedicated event venue would. But you can’t beat the emotional value of getting married in grandma’s garden or your childhood home!

EVENT HALL
Event halls are dedicated to events and offer a turn-key location with a blank slate for you to build on. The purpose of these venues is to host events like weddings or conferences, so you can be confident that they have every detail accounted for. Most event halls have an in-house team dedicated to making your wedding great. This team can include in-house catering, planners, designers and event staff. Another benefit comes with the assets. Event halls are typically equipped with a variety of necessary wedding essentials, including sound systems, furniture and basic decor.

COUNTRY CLUB
Views and greens abound! Country clubs and golf courses lend themselves to some stunning panoramic photo opportunities and event backdrops, something you can’t replicate in the city. Besides the aesthetic appeal of country clubs and golf courses, these venues come with white-glove service, multiple rooms available and experienced staff and catering. Many country clubs offer events to their members only, so check before you get your heart set on one. However, this adds an extra layer of privacy and security to your special day.
HISTORIC ESTATE OR SITE
Character abounds with a historic site or estate as a venue. By leaning into the splendor of the past, you can ease up on decor rentals and let the space speak for itself. These venues typically have sweeping gardens, breathtaking architecture and the irreplaceable richness of history. If you’re looking for a timeless and welcoming venue, a historic estate might be up your alley. Due to the quaint charm of the past, these venues can lack modern amenities like ample restrooms or grounded power outlets, so keep that in mind!
Swan
BREWERY OR DISTILLERY
Gilded halls and china place settings aren’t for everyone. Some couples feel more comfortable celebrating among wooden kegs and saying “cheers!” with pint glasses. A brewery or distillery wedding can feel industrial, relaxed and true to the couple. Many breweries have on-site kitchens available, which makes for some ideal food and drink pairings. If there are no kitchen or catering options, bring in some local food trucks to set up in the parking lot.

MUSEUM
While your wedding will be the star of the show, a museum venue adds a layer of entertainment and culture to your festivities. Guests can meander through the museum’s exhibits and immerse themselves in a unique and textured experience. Thought-provoking and conversation-starting, museums are good options for when you have a lot of guests from different social circles. When your love story is a piece of art, a museum is a great setting for your celebration.

MAKE IT MEMORABLE
RESTAURANT
By picking a restaurant, café or bar with aesthetics you enjoy, you will have built-in décor! Save for any personalized details you want to decorate with, a stylish eatery comes with the restaurant’s existing décor and tabletop needs like silverware and plating. And of course, you know the food and drink will be spectacular. A restaurant wedding typically requires a smaller guest list due to venue capacity. If you want an intimate wedding that doesn’t feel empty, a venue like this is perfect. Certain restaurants or bars have private rooms available for rent, while others offer the possibility to buy out the entire venue, so there’s still room for a wide headcount range.
WATERFRONT
Romanticism and serenity come with the territory of a waterfront wedding. No matter how high your wedding-day nerves might be, ultimate relaxation comes with getting married to the sounds of trickling water or crashing waves. A waterfront wedding can take place in a variety of places, like on a yacht or private charter, on a beach, at a marina or on a dock. There are so many options in the Southeast. Opt for something on Tybee Island or plan a mini-destination wedding to Florida.
URBAN LOFT / WAREHOUSE
For texture, exposed brick and high ceilings, urban lofts or warehouses are great options. A non-traditional, urban loft is the versatile and industrial take on a classic barn wedding. For city dwellers, the urban loft or warehouse route adds an undeniable city flair. Plus, these venues are often centrally located, which is also great for out-of-town guests. With past lives as train depots or industrial stock houses, urban loft or warehouse venues have tenacity and a rich history perfect for starting your future.

BARN
A bonus: you now have an automatic anniversary date night planned for years. What’s more special than celebrating in the very spot where you tied the knot?
Above: St. Julep. Photography courtesy of Kimpton Sylvan Hotel
Rustic charm and serenity come naturally at a barn or farmhouse. Barns offer a lot of space, so these are ideal for large weddings, especially if you intend to have indoor and outdoor festivities. The outdoor grounds give space for elements like a fire pit, yard games and maybe even some barn animal cameos. And don’t feel confined by the given rustic aesthetic; these venues are versatile and can be dressed up to create an engaging juxtaposition of glamor and homespun charm. For a breath of fresh air and a step away from the hustle of city life, a barn or farmhouse is a lovely choice for a blissful wedding. ■

To My Beloved
POUR YOUR HEART OUT ON PAPER AND START YOUR WEDDING DAY WITH THE BEAUTY OF HANDWRITTEN NOTIONS
WRITTEN
BY
Alexandra Dillard
PHOTOGRAPHY BY Maekoi Photography
Your future spouse is the one you instinctively seek comfort from, especially during your most emotional moments. Your wedding morning will undoubtedly be a day where emotions are high! As your wedding day nerves are coursing, you might long for nothing more than to embrace your partner in a big, warm hug. But with wedding preparations in full swing, you and your wedding parties will be busy getting glammed up! Instead of spending the morning physically together, make your presence known through a heartfelt, handwritten note.
The tradition of exchanging letters with your partner on your wedding day has stood the test of time. Sure, it might feel old-fashioned to dust off the stationery set and find a pen that still has ink, but don’t overlook this gesture.
For many, articulating their true emotions can be challenging. Yet, expressing yourself through written words on paper can offer a sense of ease. Not only will it allow for more thoughtful phrasing, but the letter itself can be treasured and revisited throughout the wedding morning and for years to come. By putting your feelings of love into writing, you ensure that the words endure in a way spoken phrases may not. As the years pass, your love will mature, but the sentiments expressed in these letters will serve as a poignant reminder of the feelings you experienced on your wedding day.
Just as with wedding vows, the content and style of these letters can vary. Some couples prefer to write poetic and romantic letters, while others lean towards light-hearted and humorous notes. Unlike vows, which require a polished and suitable tone for all attendees, your wedding morning letter can include intimate details and private notions. The key is to be genuine and capture the essence of your relationship to the best of your abilities.
As you write your letter, here are eight things to consider when putting pen to paper:
1. Reflect on your relationship: Take some time to think about your journey as a couple, from when you first met to the sweet moments that have brought you to this day. Reflect on the special memories, challenges you’ve overcome together and reasons why you love your partner.
2. Think about what your partner wants to read: Your tone can be romantic, poetic, sincere or even inject a touch of humor. When deciding what tone to go with, think about what will resonate most with your partner. While you might be a natural jokester, if your partner loves
“ ” ... the letter itself can be treasured and revisited ...
a sappy declaration, try to cater your letter to what they will appreciate reading the most.
3. Find a quiet and comfortable space: As you sit down to write, choose a peaceful and undisturbed space where you can let your thoughts flow freely. Create an ambiance that helps you feel relaxed and inspired, which can include lighting candles or playing your favorite songs. Pick a space with a natural writing surface, like a table or desk. Writing in your lap might be comfy, but you want your handwriting to be legible!
4. Express your love and gratitude: Write about how much you love and appreciate your partner, highlighting the qualities that make them special to you. You may often tell your significant other you love them, but how often do you tell them you’re thankful for their partnership? Express gratitude for their presence in your life and the joy they bring.
5. Show, don’t tell: Instead of saying how much you love and appreciate them, show them with recountings of your favorite memories. Recall and describe cherished moments and experiences you’ve shared. It
could be about the day you met, a memorable trip or just an everyday household moment that defines your relationship.
6. Talk about the future: Express your hopes and dreams for your future together. Discuss the life you envision as a married couple, the goals you want to achieve and the adventures you wish to embark on. Share your commitment to supporting each other through thick and thin.
7. Write about your excitement for the day: Express your anticipation for the wedding day itself. Share your anticipation about exchanging vows, celebrating with loved ones and officially beginning your life together. Let your partner know how much you’re looking forward to marrying them in the time-honored wedding tradition.
8. End with a loving closing: Conclude the letter with a heartfelt conclusion. Your partner will probably read the letter more than once throughout the morning, but this final sentiment will be the one that lingers. In the closing, authentically convey your everlasting love and commitment and sign the letter with your name or special nickname. ■
WEDDING WANDERLUST
Getting Your Dream Destination Wedding Off the Ground
WRITTEN BY Deb Hull, VP of Events of a Lifetime
Why Hire a Wedding Planner who Specializes in Destination Weddings? Destination weddings are a law unto themselves. Producing a dream wedding requires multi-faceted problem-solving skills, customs, rules and restrictions many people might overlook. To say that planning for this type of wedding is intense and time-consuming is an understatement. While a destination wedding planner might cost more, it will be worth the investment.
Specialty destination wedding planners bring a wealth of insight into your location, venue, local attractions and customs. Their specialty is melding the destination’s environment and culture with what is important to you for your special day. They discuss your dreams, research your location and present ideas that are custom designed just for you. The planning involves more than just the wedding — it is a weekend specially crafted for you and your guests.
The most important reason to hire a wedding planner specializing in destination weddings is their access to toptier talent worldwide. They are experts in putting together teams from all over the world who are best suited to produce and achieve the goals that are important to you. Not only will you be able to relax because “they’ve got it,” but your guests will have an enjoyable experience they will talk about for years.
To witness the work of a destination wedding planner in action, read on and see how Ally and Robert’s dream Palm Beach wedding came to life.
Ally & Robert’s Palm Beach Bliss
Ally’s sense of style and love of fashion, evident in her boutique, Monkee’s of Alpharetta, set the tone for the enchanting narrative of her destination wedding. When it came time for this Atlanta bride to select the venue for her upcoming nuptials to her partner Robert, she led with her heart and her fashion sense. The young couple decided on a destination wedding at the world-famous architectural gem, the historic Henry Morrison Flagler Museum in Palm Beach, Florida. Hosting family and friends in the sunshine state at the incredible palace on Lake Worth’s shores was truly a dream for Ally and Robert’s fairy tale wedding. To bring their destination wedding dreams to life, the couple enlisted the expertise of Events of a Lifetime Productions, an Atlanta-based, award-winning wedding design and planning firm. Ally was introduced to them by another delighted Atlanta family who had engaged Events of a Lifetime Productions’ principals, Gillian Marto and Deb Hull, to orchestrate their daughters’ destination wedding weekends. Marto explained, “Our specialty is creating experiences that seamlessly blend dreams with the locale,

setting and culture. That’s why luxury destination weddings worldwide have become our niche.” The firm’s access to world-class talent enables them to assemble teams capable of producing genuinely unique experiences, a valuable asset for a bride seeking to realize her long-held dreams in locations beyond her own city.
Ally and Robert wed in the incredible, turn-of-the-century BeauxArts railway palace of the Henry Morrison Flagler Museum. However, executing event plans within a historic, operational museum listed as a National Historic Landmark presented its own challenges. Marto shared, “We flew to Palm Beach for multiple site visits to make certain everything was choreographed to the last minute.” Hull added, “To protect this treasure, which is a National Historic Landmark, we were required to use only vetted, approved vendors.” The team also had to wait until the museum closed to the public on the wedding day, which meant they only had two hours to load everything. The need for well-versed professionals was crucial!
These stunning Gilded Age grounds offered beautiful views for Ally and Robert’s guests to stroll through between wedding events. The Flagler Kenan Pavilion, where Ally and Robert said their vows, is the home to Henry Flagler’s private Railcar No. 91 and offers panoramic views of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway and West Palm Beach skyline.
As for the wedding design, Marto explains, “Ally loves flowers, so sumptuous floral décor was important to her.” The Flagler’s dramatic architecture in the Kenan Pavilion, West Room, Lake Room, and the majestic portico and terrace overlooking Lake Worth provided historic and breathtaking backdrops for the various gorgeous wedding environments. Other custom touches important to the couple included a custom-designed wedding logo, an espresso martini bar, a limoncello flume, a waterfront raw bar with a logo ice sculpture and a live wedding painter.
Beyond the wedding itself, Events of Lifetime Productions’ multi-state
team also crafted other events, including a rehearsal dinner and welcome party. The welcome party, hosted on the rooftop of The Ben Hotel, paid homage to Robert’s romantic marriage proposal in Italy and set the tone for the luxurious weekend ahead.
As the moon glowed and lights illuminated the museum’s majestic façade, it was only fitting that the newlyweds departed in a historic Rolls-Royce to begin their own history together. ■

Unveiling
the Hidden Secrets of Destination Weddings
WRITTEN BY Jenn and John Milburn, Owners of United Travel, LLC
PHOTOGRAPHY BY The Snells
As the allure of destination weddings continues to captivate couples seeking a celebration as unique as their love story, we’re about to unveil the unspoken truths about destination “I do’s.” Beyond the picturesque scenes and sun-kissed beaches lie undisclosed realities that every couple embarking on a destination wedding journey should know.
We’re peeling back the curtain to reveal four hidden truths of destination weddings, aiming to equip you with insights beyond glossy brochures and Instagram-perfect moments. From unexpected guest list twists to navigating deposit intricacies, understanding payment timelines and the surprising economics of destination weddings, let’s journey beyond the facade of destination wedding glamour and discover the nuances that will shape your celebration into an opulent and seamless affair.
Hidden Truth #1: Not all your guests will attend
The allure of a destination wedding is undeniable, conjuring dreams of a picturesque ceremony on a sun-kissed beach and palm trees swaying in the warm breeze. However, reality sets in when you discover that not everyone on your guest list will make the journey. Statistics reveal that, on average, only 40-60% of invited guests attend. Surprisingly, the leading factors influencing attendance aren’t solely financial; instead, guests weigh the appeal of the chosen destination, their ability to take time off work and their closeness to the couple.
Hidden Truth #2: When securing your room block and venue, two deposits will be required immediately
Navigating the intricacies of securing a venue and room block for a destination wedding involves a delicate dance. Coordinating with separate departments demands finesse, and having an expert to guide you through this process is invaluable. Once your wedding date is confirmed and rooms are secured, be prepared to make two immediate deposits. Venue deposits vary, typically from $500 to $1,000+, and are often applied to the overall wedding package cost. Simultaneously, room block contracts may require a deposit starting at $150 per room, going up to 20% of the total room block value.
Hidden Truth #3: Final payments for your guests’ hotel stays will be due 4-6 months prior to departure
While the wedding events may be planned in under 90 days, final payments
for your guests’ accommodations may be due much sooner. To accommodate guests and facilitate interest-free payment plans, extending invitations and securing your venue and room block 12-18 months in advance is advisable.
Hidden Truth #4: Destination weddings don’t always save money!
Contrary to common belief, destination weddings might not always translate to cost savings, especially for weddings in Mexico and the Caribbean. The reduced guest count, often considered a cost-saving factor, is offset by other expenses. Couples frequently find themselves hosting around 80 guests, and depending on preferences for decor and entertainment, the overall cost may align with that of a local wedding. The key distinction lies in the duration — a local wedding lasts a few hours, whereas a destination celebration spans several days, creating priceless memories and unforgettable experiences. ■

HOW A WEDDING PLANNER CAN MAKE YOUR BIG DAY A DREAMCOME-TRUE
WRITTEN BY Alexandra Dillard PHOTOGRAPHY BY Tags Photography
planned
Arranging all the place settings and making an extra one for your college roommate’s plusone (who wasn’t even on the guest list). Checking every bathroom stall to ensure there’s enough toilet paper. Verifying that the DJ has the right electricity hookups. Sewing a button onto the best man’s suit. Driving back to the hotel to grab the right pair of undergarments (no, not the polka-dot ones).
Is this how you envision your wedding morning checklist? If you’re thinking “heck no!” (and who could blame you?), then it’s time to seriously consider hiring a wedding planner. From the dress to the decorations, the venue to the catering, there are so many pieces that need to be overseen to ensure that your big day is everything you dreamed of. A professional wedding planner can handle the details, both big and small, leaving you free to relax and enjoy your special day.
A WEDDING PLANNER IS THE MASTERMIND WHO MAKES THE MAGIC HAPPEN. “ ”
YOU ’ VE GOT OPTIONS
There are various tiers of wedding planning services available, each providing a different level of involvement, support and financial obligation. From full-service planning to day-of coordination, you’ve got options!
Before hiring a wedding planner, it’s important to determine how much you’re willing to borrow from your budget and how much help you really need. Typically, comprehensive wedding planning services cost between 10-20% of your total budget. Once you have a clear understanding of how much planning you can take on and how much you want to outsource, you can start looking for a wedding planner who offers the level of assistance that meets your needs.
RELAX
One of the key advantages of hiring a wedding planner is that they can help you manage stress and “what could go wrong?” worries. Planning a wedding is a significant occasion, and it’s normal to feel overwhelmed and a bit frazzled. A wedding planner can help ease some of this pressure by handling all the particulars and ensuring everything runs smoothly.
They can also help you manage any unforeseen problems that emerge, allowing you to focus on remembering the steps to your choreographed first dance. Weddings involve a lot of moving pieces, which means a few minor hiccups are inevitable. Many planners have already addressed a range of crises, many of which happen without the couple even knowing what occurred. From a wedding cake melting in the sun to the bridal gown’s zipper splitting moments before walking down the aisle, wedding planners are natural problem solvers ready to hop into action. They come equipped with sewing kits and super glue and are two steps ahead of any snafu. The time your wedding planner spends serving Liquid I.V. to the best man to prevent a drunken speech is worth every penny spent.
FINANCIAL AND CONTRACTUAL
Weddings often require a significant financial investment, even for small,
backyard affairs. When it comes to budgeting, it can be tempting to skimp on hiring a wedding planner and allocate those funds elsewhere. However, not hiring a professional planner can actually end up costing you more in the long run. Their expertise and experience helps avoid expensive mistakes, such as ending up paying overtime because you didn’t calculate the timeline properly. They can also help you negotiate better deals with vendors, making sure you get the best value. So, before opting to forgo
a planner, consider the savings and peace of mind they can bring to your big day.
TIME IS MONEY
Hiring a wedding planner can help you save time. Planning a wedding is a demanding and intricate process, and it can be hard to balance all the different elements while also sticking to your budget. Effectively manage your time with the assistance of a wedding planner. They’ll ensure every detail is attended to, relieving you of concerns
about overlooking anything.
They can also provide recommendations for vendors and services that align with your vision and budget, saving you the time and effort of researching and vetting them yourself. With a wedding planner on your team, you can focus on enjoying your engagement and preparing for your big day, while leaving the details and logistics to a professional.
VISION MEETS REALITY
You may have been dreaming of your wedding day since long before you even found your partner. Maybe you have a Pinterest board with years’ worth of ideas, overflowing with inspiration. Or perhaps you don’t have any specific details in mind beyond a general vibe or feeling.
While it’s fun to live in wedding dreamland, bringing that vision to life is another story. One of the greatest benefits of a good wedding planner is their ability to listen to your wishes — however detailed or vague they may be — and then turn those requests into something real. Wedding inspiration can turn into an untamed beast — how do you pick a color palette that evokes the emotions you haven’t found words for yet? How do you achieve Edward and Bella’s wisteria-drenched ceremony within your budget? A wedding planner has the know-how to take your feelings and turn them into a tangible, cohesive wedding.
A good wedding planner also knows the difference between dreams and reality. Your budget may not line up with a replica of Sofia Richie Grainge’s South of France nuptials. However, a planner can help manipulate your budget and offer creative solutions while keeping things realistic.
It’s important to note that you shouldn’t expect your wedding planner to save you money when it comes to negotiating contracts. While your planner may have a working relationship with a company that could involve special pricing, a discount should never
be expected. These vendors set their prices where they are for a reason!
PERSONAL MEDIATOR
Although weddings are all about a celebration of love, they also are apt to uncover unique conflicts. Bringing together two families is inherently tricky and when you add in all the logistical details, budget and personal feelings, situations can get sticky. This is where a wedding planner can act as a mediator. If you don’t want to upset your future mother-in-law by telling her that the peach dahlias she keeps insisting on are not your vibe, your wedding planner can handle these conversations tactfully and without it feeling personal. A wedding planner can help ensure that everyone is on the same page, and that potential conflicts are resolved before they have a chance to escalate and spoil your special day.
PROS KNOW BEST
Having a wedding planner gives you unique access to their network of contacts and resources. Wedding planners work with a wide range of vendors, from seamstresses and photographers to catering staff and lighting technicians. They know which vendor teams have the
best reputations, which ones are in-budget and which ones are a perfect fit for your specific vision. If you have a particular or unique theme in mind, your planner can help you identify vendors who specialize in that style and have experience creating it. They can also provide insights into the latest trends in weddings, so you can ensure your special day is as unique as you’d like it to be. By tapping into a wedding planner’s network and experience, you can navigate the world of wedding vendors with ease.
THE DAY-OF DETAILS
Perhaps the biggest service a wedding planner can provide is coordinating the actual wedding day. From what time your hair and makeup should be completed by to sending the wedding party down the aisle, a wedding planner has the expertise and knowledge to ensure a seamless flow of events. Hiring a wedding planner also frees up your family members to enjoy your day, instead of putting them to work. Your maid-of-honor deserves to relax and enjoy your wedding day, too! And you certainly cannot coordinate your reception setup while you’re busy exchanging vows.
Although a talented wedding planner makes it look effortless, it takes a lot of work and expertise to execute a fairytale wedding. Even the most organized of couples may struggle to enjoy their special day if they are also trying to manage it. Before you make any other decisions, prioritize hiring a wedding planner. As you set your budget, make sure there is room in it to cover the level of service needed.
Even if you’ve attended dozens of weddings, a professional wedding planner offers an unparalleled level of experience and expertise. Simply put, they know more than you! From venue selection to crafting the day-of timeline, a wedding planner is the mastermind who makes the magic happen. Are you ready to cross off some tasks on your wedding to-do list and hire a wedding planner yet? ■
TO HAVE AND TO HOLD: A BOUQUET STYLE GUIDE
Atalented florist will guide you to the perfect flower choices for your budget, season and style. But when it comes to selecting bouquet size and structure, there are options to consider!
CASCADE
As the name suggests, a cascade bouquet resembles a dripping waterfall, typically with a focus on florals in the center and tapering into greenery and foliage around the edges. Elongated and dramatic, this type of bouquet creates a drape down the front of the arrangement, often covering the holder’s hands.

PAGEANT
Also known as the presentation bouquet or arm sheath, the pageant bouquet is designed to be carried in the crook of the arm. This unique bouquet cascades gracefully while showcasing a lush composition and creating a vintage and effortless look.

HAND-TIED
The hand-tied bouquet thrives on fluidity. Its boho feel includes a combination
of loose stems and greenery working in harmony. As the name suggests, these bouquets are hand-tied at the stems with ribbon, twine or another fabric and do not rely on floral wire or foam to hold anything in place.

POSY
The posy bouquet is a classic and timeless choice. Ever popular, this bouquet is small enough to be held with one hand and often incorporates more florals than filler foliage. The size also makes it great for wedding attendants, flower girls or petite marriers.

FREE-FORM
The free-form bouquet style is a flowing and unstructured arrangement of flowers, often characterized by its loose and organic appearance. These bouquets are typically asymmetrical and involve a variety of colors and textures, adding volume and a sense of movement. Freeform arrangements have a similar aesthetic to hand-
tied bouquets, but are a bit more sprawling and whimsical.

BASKET
A basket bouquet is a trendy alternative to traditional wedding bouquets, ideal for garden or bohemian weddings. It involves arranging the flowers and greenery within a handheld basket, creating a beautiful and unique floral display. The basket itself is typically made of wicker, but a mini handbag can be used for a fashionable touch. A flower basket adds a hand-picked and artistic touch to wedding floral arrangements, providing a fresh alternative to traditional bouquet styles. Plus, the basket can be cherished for years to come as an heirloom!

ROUND
Round bouquets are spherical arrangements made up of an abundance of one color or type of flower. Even if using more than one type of flower, this style of bouquet still maintains flowers with similar texture or monochromatic color palette. These bouquets are tightly structured and honor the natural splendor of circularshaped flowers.

NOSEGAY
The nosegay is a traditional and popular bouquet option, consisting of a tightly packed bunch of flowers all cut to a uniform length and tied off with an accent wrap. The result is a chic, small and not overwhelming bouquet for a bride or groom to hold. Typically, this bouquet style focuses on one flower or color, with just a few more blooms acting as complements.

Eat, Drink & Be Married
WRITTEN BY Atlanta Style Weddings Staff | PHOTOGRAPHY BY Brandi Toole Photo
Grab your forks and knives it’s time to talk catering! With these seven tricks of the trade in mind, you and your caterer can create a meal to remember.
1. DECIDE HOW TO SERVE THE FOOD
Before deciding on the menu items, it’s important to consider how you want the food to be served. Foodservice sets the tone for the rest of the reception, so take time to mull over the following options before you pick.
Full-Service
Also called plated meals, full-service meals are for couples who want the meal to be the highlight of the event. For this method, individual courses are delivered to guests by servers, providing an elegant dining experience with professional service and minimal handling. While this is a glamorous option, note that it takes more time out of the reception than a buffet alternative.
Buffet
A buffet is ideal for couples who can’t wait to mingle and dance. A buffet-style dinner gives guests enough time to enjoy their food and hear a few toasts, but it ultimately gets the party started sooner. Once everyone finishes eating dinner at their own pace, they can trickle onto the dance floor or return for seconds.
Combination
A combination of plated and buffet serving styles is for couples who want the best of both worlds. Have the main course served directly to each guest, but skip waitstaff with self-serve desserts. This way, you get the elegant feel of a full-service dinner and the convenience of a buffet.
2. SELECT SIGNIFICANT DISHES
Collaborate with your caterer to design a menu that holds personal significance. Think about the best meals you and your soon-to-be spouse cook together. Or consider what foods evoke happy memories, like where you went to dinner before the proposal or your go-to take-out option. With these reflections in mind, compile a list of dishes that taste delicious and have sentimental value. Communicate everything with your caterer and let them work their magic.
Note: Consider the preferences of your guests. You and your partner aren’t the only ones enjoying a meal at the reception! While you two may enjoy adventurous dishes, ensure some options also cater to less adventurous palates.
3. SHARE THE MEANING
You’ve spent the time conjuring up meaningful dish ideas, so don’t forget to share those stories with your
guests! Work with your stationer to add personalized notes on the menu cards. For example, you could mention that ravioli was the first dinner cooked together or that lobster bisque reminds you of memorable summer trips to Maine. Sharing these special moments from your relationship will help your guests feel more connected to the wedding.
4. CELEBRATE YOUR CULTURE AND BACKGROUND
One of the most beautiful facets of marriage is its ability to unite people from different places and upbringings. Embrace the diversity of your backgrounds by incorporating culinary elements from other cultures into your menu. Whether you’re dishing out Italian Jordan almonds, Puerto Rican alcapurrias or Jewish Challah, serving foods representing both your heritages can beautifully symbolize your union.
5. CONSIDER THE SEASON
Take into account the time of year when selecting your menu. Just like flowers, certain foods are best enjoyed in specific seasons. Serving strawberries in January, for example, may be costly and compromise their quality. Aligning your menu with the season ensures that the ingredients are at their freshest and most flavorful. This choice will benefit your budget, caterer and guests, providing a cohesive and delicious dining experience.
6. ACCOMMODATE ALLERGIES AND FOOD RESTRICTIONS
To ensure all your guests feel safe and welcome, communicate any dietary restrictions or allergies to your caterer. Consider including a card in your invitation suite where guests can indicate their entree choices and note any specific dietary needs. For guests with severe allergies, you can offer them direct communication with the caterer so they may address concerns and safety. Most caterers are more than willing to accommodate dietary restrictions and provide safe and delicious meals for all. This attention to detail will make a significant difference
to guests with specific requirements, allowing them to fully enjoy the feast.
7. ENJOY YOUR MEAL
Most couples get so overwhelmed by the excitement of their reception that they barely have time to eat. Remember to pause and enjoy the food you dedicated so much effort into selecting. Also, remember that food is fuel. How will you tear up the dance floor on an empty stomach? After a highly eventful day, take care of yourself; make the most of your
delicious dinner and avoid premature burnout.
Planning a menu for a large group of people can be a daunting task. After all, when was the last time you had to design a luxury meal for over 100 people? The best piece of advice is to trust your caterers. Feeding crowds is their expertise, so once you communicate your vision, it’s OK to let your caterer take the reins. Relinquishing control can feel scary, but when the result is a room full of cherished guests enjoying a fantastic meal, it will be well worth it. ■
Slice, Slice Baby [] SLICE GUIDE
Your cake is going to be beautiful, but how big should it be? A cake that’s too big leads to overspending and food waste, but a cake that’s too small will mean some guests won’t get a taste. Here is a quick guide to show the appropriate cake size based on guest count. ■

Is a First Look Right for You?
LOVE, ANTICIPATION AND BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES — WEDDING FIRST LOOKS HAVE CAPTURED THE HEARTS OF COUPLES AROUND THE WORLD.
WRITTEN BY Alexandra Dillard
Due to their historical and cultural significance, weddings themselves are time-honored traditions. Throughout history, weddings have been celebrated as a ceremonial union between two individuals, often accompanied by rituals, customs and traditions that have been passed down through generations. One of these enduring formalities is for the couple not to see one another before the ceremony. In fact, it used to be unheard of — and even bad luck — for couples to see each other before their wedding ceremony.
There is a romanticism inherent in this suspense. But within the last 20 years, this beloved custom has been upstaged by a modern addition to the wedding ritual arsenal: the first look. Once considered a wedding taboo, the first look allows couples to share an intimate moment together before saying “I do,” as well as an opportunity for some sweet photos before the rush of the day. With a perfect blend of efficiency and romance, you might consider skipping old-school conventions to embrace this new tradition.
EMOTIONALLY SOUND
Seeing your fiancé(e) for the very first time on your wedding day will no doubt stir up some powerful emotions. While some couples cherish the idea of that sentimental first glance happening at the end of the aisle,
others are more comfortable with a private moment before the ceremony.
Having a private first look with just you, your future spouse and your photographer allows you to express your genuine emotions without the pressure or stage fright that may come from being in front of all your loved ones. It’s an intimate setting where you can shed tears, laugh and truly be yourselves. A skilled photographer will capture these magical and tender moments authentically, creating lasting memories for you to revisit.
A MOMENT FOR YOU
After the ceremony, the whirlwind of the reception festivities will sweep you away (in the best way possible!). In the midst of all the celebrating, you might not be able to find a moment to candidly speak with your new spouse until much later. That’s where the first look comes in — it provides a precious opportunity to truly connect with your beloved before getting caught up in the revelries.
The pre-ceremony first look is a moment where couples can break away from prying eyes and be vulnerable with each other. So often weddings can feel like performances. However, during the first look, you can set aside the performance and simply be yourselves. It’s a chance to be real, raw and deeply connected with each other. It’s also a
PHOTOGRAPHY BY Darian Reilly Photography
time to regroup and reaffirm your love before the ceremony. During this time, some couples choose to read letters to each other, exchange special gifts, pray together or simply just express their excitement and expectations for the day ahead.
CAPTURE YOUR GOOD SIDE
A first look offers the opportunity to capture the reactions of both you and your partner, which can be more challenging when you’re separated by an aisle during the ceremony. Furthermore, a first look allows photographers to take advantage of ideal lighting and picturesque backdrops that the wedding venue may offer. While nighttime portraits are romantic in their own right, natural morning light is oh-so-dreamy.
TIMING
The ultimate time-efficiency, a first look allows you to complete most of your posed photos and couple portraits before the ceremony. Couples who wait until after the ceremony often find themselves missing out on parts of their cocktail hour as they’re busy taking all the must-have photos. By opting for a first look, you free up time to ensure that you capture all the pictures you want, leaving you more relaxed and fully able to enjoy the reception.
It’s no wonder why first looks have become increasingly popular — considering the benefits they offer from both a logistical and romantic standpoint. Logistically, this practice allows for a smoother wedding timeline, ensuring there is ample time to capture beautiful photos without feeling rushed. However, the romantic aspects of a first look are equally compelling. The intimate nature of this moment can help settle nerves and create the right emotional headspace for the rest of the day.
Whether you prefer the thrill of waiting until the ceremony to see your betrothed or you opt for the efficient first look, there’s no wrong decision. With a skilled photographer, you can rest assured that you’ll have wonderful photos capturing the essence of your special day. ■
TIMELESS PHOTOS FOR FUN LOVING PEOPLE
SAVANNAH
Photography Essentials SHOT LIST
For most couples, photography is a crucial element of their wedding day. While they immerse themselves in the joy of the celebrations, the photographer is responsible for capturing those precious moments. Whether it’s the pre-wedding primping or the energetic dance floor at the reception, every detail needs the documentation you’ve dreamed of.
While a skilled wedding photographer usually has their own shot list of triedand-true favorites, it’s a good idea to ensure that you and your photographer are on the same page. Here are some helpful tips to make certain that you and your photographer are in sync.
1. GO OVER SPECIAL DETAILS
Did you create a specialty menu you want captured on film? Does the bouquet have family heirlooms incorporated? Your wedding day is full of personalized touches that make it uniquely yours. Let your photographer know which important details of your day you’d like captured; they won’t know unless you tell them!
2. CURATE YOUR “MUST-HAVES”
If you have specific photos that your
heart is set on, don’t hesitate to inform your photographer. Compile a list of a few “must-have” shots so the photographer understands how to prioritize their time. Whether it’s a dramatic sunset dip-and-kiss or individual portraits with each sibling, ensure that your photographer is aware.
3. ENLIST HELP
Designate a trusted attendant, family member or friend to be in charge of herding people for photographs. As the marrier, you don’t need this extra
task of wrangling! This designated person can efficiently wrangle everyone necessary for each group shot, saving valuable time and ensuring no one is left out of the picture!
4. TRUST YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
Remember, your photographer knows what they are doing! They have a keen eye for lighting, backgrounds and posing. Sometimes, they might even ask you to do something that feels odd or unnatural, but trust them. They want you to look good — it’s their job!

Inside Engagement Session THE
WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER, KIM HYMES PHOTOGRAPHY, SHARES THE KEYS A SUCCESSFUL ENGAGEMENT PHOTO SESSION
PHOTOGRAPHY BY Kim
Hymes Photography
Engagement photo sessions have gained immense popularity as a cherished prelude to the wedding day. These sessions not only capture the love and excitement of a couple in the period leading up to their marriage but also provide a unique opportunity to showcase the couple’s personality. Photographer Kim Hymes, the talent behind Kim Hymes Photography, shares her insights on choosing the right look and feel to make your engagement photo session shine. Two key factors that impact the outcome of your engagement images include your choice of outfits and location. In fact, the most common questions Hymes receives prior to engagement photo sessions pertain to attire and location. Your photographer will guide you, but you should still independently consider what you want the pictures to convey. Let’s dive into the details!
LOCATION
Wedding Theme
To create meaningful photos, couples should consider a session location that complements their upcoming wedding theme. “For example, if you’re planning a chic, elegant wedding, it may be fitting to take your engagement portraits among the classic architecture in downtown Atlanta, while a local park or flower-filled fields may be more fitting for a couple planning a more rustic affair,” Hymes adds.
Personality
Selecting a location goes beyond aesthetics; it unveils a bit of the secret language of your love story. Whether it’s an adventurous mountaintop session or a cityscape with a cup of coffee, couples can choose locations that add personality to their narrative. As Hymes suggests, “It’s an experience where you get to know your photographer and get comfortable in front of the camera before your wedding day.”
Time of Day
Considering the time of day is equally important. Hymes recommends aiming for the beauty of sunrise or sunset,
also known as the “golden hour,” for the most captivating light. Flexibility is key here, as sometimes scheduling right after sunrise can beat the crowds, especially on weekends when popular locations may be busy with other events. However, if you’re booking a studio session, you have a little more flexibility with time of day and, as a bonus, you don’t have to worry about the weather.
ATTIRE
Color Palette
Now, onto the styling and fashion portion of your photo session! Hymes suggests, “Stick to neutrals on the lighter side and choose outfits that you are comfortable in but are still polished, classic and elegant.” Avoiding bold patterns and bright colors ensures the focus remains on the couple rather than their clothing. Additionally, bright colors can reflect back on your skin, giving you an unnatural colorful glow. However, if bold colors resonate with your personality, stay true to yourself!
Matchy-Matchy
When it comes to outfit coordination, Hymes suggests thinking in terms of
“complement” rather than “match.”
Choosing color families to style around, such as pastels, neutrals or jewel tones, allows couples to express their personal styles while maintaining a cohesive aesthetic.
Fit
Fit is also important to consider. “I typically have my clients moving quite a bit, so you don’t want something super restrictive,” shares Hymes. You want to easily wrap your arms around your fiancé(e) and act naturally! It’s normal to feel self-conscious when posing in front of the camera for (possibly) the first time, so don’t burden yourself with worrying about wardrobe malfunctions. You want to spend your session laughing and having fun, not stressing about a gaping shirt, buttons popping open or unflattering fabric bulges.
Dress for the Season
Lastly, dressing appropriately for the season is essential. If it’s January, it will be hard to get joyful facial expressions if you’re freezing. Similarly, if it’s July and you’re wearing a chunky sweater, you’ll be sweaty and miserable! Being comfortable ensures genuine and beautiful expressions.
It’s important that you look and feel your best for your engagement photo session — after all, this shoot is a celebration of your love and commitment. So, have fun, be yourselves and we’ll see you on the other side of the lens! ■

The Ultimate Wedding Soundtrack
WWRITTEN BY Alexandra Dillard
hat is the soundtrack to your love story? Choosing songs for your wedding can either be super exciting or completely overwhelming. It is, however, an important step in establishing the vibe and sound that will make your wedding unique.
THE RULES
When it comes to your wedding, there are no rules. But, if you’re looking for some musical guidance, here are some helpful things to consider:
• Keep a Spotify or Apple Music playlist so that whenever you hear a song you both like, you can remember it by adding it to the playlist.
• Create your list of “must play” songs so that your favorite tunes make a cameo on your favorite day.
• Create your list of “do not play” songs. You might not want to hear some songs on your wedding day, if they hold bad memories or you just don’t like them!
• Tailor your choices to your own favorite genres and use music as a storytelling device. Personalize your wedding soundtrack by including artists you’ve seen in concert together, “your song” and even covers of classics done by contemporary artists.
• Make sure to pick songs that fit special events of the day (entrances, cake cuttings, first dances), keeping in mind the song tempo and thematics.
• Think ahead: Is there a certain part of the song you want played at a particular moment? Things can happen quicker than you anticipate, so if there’s a particular part of a song you want played during a specific moment, be sure to tell your sound operator so that they can edit or cue up when appropriate.
• Don’t let your favorites miss out. If some of your favorite songs don’t fit into the dancing portion of the evening (not every song is danceable!), those songs can be used during dinner or cocktail hour.
When it comes to planning music choices for those important wedding moments, the most important thing to consider is if the songs are important to you. Mixing in different genres and eras, here are some tracks to add to your “must play” list:

SARAH & BRAD
Brad and Sarah met in dental college, where they bonded over study sessions and snack spreads. But it wasn’t until their junior year of dental school amidst the pandemic when their relationship evolved from friends and classmates to something more romantic.
Their strong friendship laid the groundwork for a love that culminated in an extravagant October wedding. Following their engagement, they were eager to start married life. So with their planner, Pollyanna Richter Weddings, they meticulously crafted their dream wedding in just seven months. From personalized stationery to ballroom dance practice, the planning process was thoughtful and cherished.
The moment Sarah and Brad set foot in The Ritz-Carlton Atlanta, they knew it was the perfect venue for them.
The hotel’s grandeur, paired with a cozy, boutique-like atmosphere, resonated with their vision of a classical romance infused with vintage charm. Tufted couches, the newly renovated ballroom and an exquisite portrait gallery set the stage for an enchanting ambiance.
Sarah’s Turkish-American background and Brad’s Persian-Azeri heritage were beautifully represented throughout their celebrations. Notably, their ceremony included the traditional Persian sofreh aghd, a lavish tablecloth adorned with symbolic items, each representing an aspect of the couple’s new life and marriage.
To round out the evening with a nod to their profession, the couple gifted custom toothbrushes as wedding favors, ensuring everyone left with a smile. Ultimately, Sarah and Brad’s wedding celebrated their multicultural heritage beautifully, with regal colors, traditional touches and so much love.

TAYLOR & AUSTIN
Taylor and Austin’s relationship began with walks together on the Beltline and, on a beautiful day in May, culminated with a walk down the aisle.
255 Milledge in Athens offered a charming atmosphere for this couple’s dream wedding day. The historic estate and gardens of the venue perfectly set the scene for this intimate backyard dinner party vibe. Bringing it all together, whimsical florals and butterfly thematics painted a lively springtime picture.
Taylor meticulously curated the day’s details, emphasizing pastel hues and layered vintage patterns. The bride decorated the tables with carefully collected china and colored glassware she sourced from antique stores across Atlanta. Austin also contributed to the decor curation, working alongside Taylor to craft custom seating charts, a welcome sign and corn hole boards, demonstrating their perfect partnership.
With Taylor and Austin pursuing MBAs from the University of Georgia, “Dawgs on Top” thematics were pervasive throughout the reception. Embroidered caps, pompoms in the school colors and even a special appearance from the beloved Hairy Dawg mascot showcased their collegiate pride. The dance floor remained alive and vibrant, thanks to the infectious energy of their guests and the fantastic tunes curated by Hip & Hitched.
Taylor and Austin’s wedding was not just a celebration of their love but also a reflection of their personalities. The event radiated with laughter, joy, and the genuine essence of who they are — two individuals deeply in love, surrounded by friends and family.

TAMARA & CHRIS
On an overcast day in May, Tamara and Chris’ botanical wedding came to life against the idyllic backdrop of The Wildflower 301. With sprouting florals, butterfly details and s’mores favors around a fire pit, this wedding was truly a picturesque celebration.
Early in their relationship, the couple bonded over taking walks in the park, engaging in prayer sessions together and exploring the great outdoors. With a shared love of nature, Chris proposed to Tamara at the South Carolina Botanical Garden in Greenville, setting the tone for their next blossoming chapter.
A garden venue was a must-have for the couple, and The Wildflower 301 offered everything they dreamt of. The lush grounds, expansive reception space and enchanting twinkle lights throughout provided a stunning backdrop for their spring wedding.
Standing beneath overcast skies on their wedding day, divine intervention held off the rain during the ceremony. Although worried for a bit, they were able to have their dream outdoor ceremony under the cathedral-style backdrop of the venue’s lush English gardens.
After the ceremony, the celebrations continued in the historic mansion. The timeless architecture and wellpreserved interiors of the 1809 house blended effortlessly with the couple’s modern touches, creating a classic and contemporary vision.
Love and celebration intertwined in every corner of this stunning wedding — from the verdant garden ceremony to the sparkler exit. Surrounded by the serenity of nature, Tamara and Chris began their journey as a married couple, embracing beauty that mirrored their own blooming love.

ALEXIA & JUSTIN
The essence of Alexia and Justin’s wedding day embodied who they are as a couple: vibrant, fun, loving and spontaneous.
Alexia and Justin hail from the same small town, where their paths had crossed during childhood, but they never really connected personally until 2019. After some serendipitous bumpins around town, it wasn’t long before the two realized they were meant to be.
After dating for two years, Justin proposed to Alexia on a beach in Jamaica, and the rest is history. It’s apparent that the tropical ambiance of their beach proposal rippled into the details of their wedding. Guided by the expertise of planner Brittany Sharp from The Sharp Standard, the couple curated a bold color palette for the celebrations. Oranges and blues, complemented by earthy pampas grass and natural textures, set the tone for a celebration echoing Alexia and Justin’s vivacity. The industrial charm of The Foundry at Puritan Mill was the perfect canvas for their energetic vision to blossom.
Alexia and Justin exchanged vows underneath a gold arch exploding with exotic flowers and dyed, dry palm leaves. A glow of blue taper candles along the aisle and bright colors everywhere accentuated the warmth of their commitment.
Surrounded by their closest friends and family, their first dance unfolded to the soulful notes of “Why I Love You” by Major. Culinary delights, impromptu performances and dance battles followed, adding layers to an already unforgettable experience. From the glow of towering candelabras to mixand-match linens, Alexia and Justin’s celebration was truly one-of-a-kind.

MELANIE & MARIUS
Against the backdrop of the summerhued mountains, Melanie and Marius celebrated their classic, romantic and transcendent wedding. With whimsical butterflies floating about the grounds, Meadows at Mossy Creek’s ethereal setting set the stage for a day that truly felt like a dream.
Melanie and Marius, both of Romanian descent, met in their church where their families had been long-time friends. Despite running in the same circles, fate didn’t cross their paths until the timing was right. This is one of those classic love stories, one where you marry your best friend after that friendship evolves.
Their wedding day blended European-inspired heirloom details with Southern garden party charm. Carrying out a botanical essence, Samara Floral created soft summer floral masterpieces in natural shades of cream and dilute pink. With her custom crepe satin gown by renowned Atlanta designer, Anne Barge, Melanie embodied the dreamy essence of the day. These details, paired with the Meadows at Mossy Creek’s upscale and modern ambiance, allowed Melanie and Marius’ wedding vision to take flight.
The outdoor ceremony, overlooking the beauty of nature, transitioned seamlessly to the whitewashed barn, where a bubbly and bright reception awaited. Complete with caricature guest illustrations and a delectable red velvet wedding cake, the barn echoed with laughter and joy.
From the sprawling floral arbor to the natural gathering of wild butterflies, Melanie and Marius’s wedding was a magical experience where time truly seemed to stand still.
Following Sikh traditions, Noor and Tobin had already celebrated seven significant events leading up to the grand culmination of their June 10th Anand Karaj, civil ceremony and reception. On this sunny summer day, their festivities unfolded in a series of beautiful ceremonies, each woven with threads of cultural richness and heartfelt commitment.
In the morning, Anand Karaj (the Sikh wedding ceremony) took place against the picturesque backdrop of the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. In the enchanting Rose Garden, Noor and Tobin sat beneath a floral ceremony structure, partaking in traditions that united them in spirit, mind and body. Guests witnessed the ceremony with colorful umbrellas and head scarfs, creating a vibrant sea of support and love.
After the traditional Indian ceremony, guests enjoyed lunch in the Day Hall as the couple and vendors prepared for the day’s second act. Soon, everyone returned to the Rose Garden for the couple’s civil ceremony, affectionately officiated by the groom’s brother.
With the ceremonies gracefully concluded, the much-anticipated reception at the Fernbank Museum awaited. For the final act of the day’s festivities, the couple and their guests danced the night away amid dinosaur fossils and bright florals.
With over a decade of love between them, Noor and Tobin’s wedding was not merely a union of two hearts but a splendid fusion of cultures, traditions and heartfelt moments. So after Noor traded her Dolce & Gabbana heels for Nike kicks at the reception, she and her groom began the rest of their lives with contagious merriment.

DANI & EDY
Most affectionately dubbed as the “#TheWifeAquatic” wedding, Dani and Edy’s union at The Georgia Aquarium was a mesmerizing plunge into the world of underwater elegance. Their shared love for vibrant aesthetics and penchant for going the extra mile birthed a celebration that encapsulated the glamour and extravagance of “Mermaid Liberace.”
The Georgia Aquarium served as the perfect canvas for their dreams to come alive. Under the guidance of Rhapsody in Blooms, the museum transformed into a glistening underwater paradise. The two captivating vantage points into the aquarium tanks framed their celebration. It was a whimsical and immersive experience to see the Ocean Voyager tank and the beluga tank throughout the evening’s celebrations.
Drawing inspiration from the sea, iridescent details and sequin textiles added depth, while a serene color palette of pinks and blues mirrored the tranquility of the ocean. Elements reflecting Dani’s expertise in 18th-century French art history and Edy’s background in wallpaper and textile design were interwoven throughout the wedding’s aesthetics. From floating jellyfish centerpieces to custom wedding ensembles by House of Bretón, every detail was meticulously woven in.
Their wedding ceremony, presided over by Rabbi Kelly Levy, truly resonated with the depth and synchronicity of their love. With nature involved, whale shark and sea turtles even bore witness to the couple’s vows!
Dani and Edy’s union transcended the ordinary; it was a symphony of love, art, diversity and unbridled joy. The vibrant hues and shimmering elegance, entwined with their enchanting love story, painted a picture-perfect day.

NATALIE & ANTHONY
On the lush Grand Terrace at St. Regis Atlanta, Natalie and Anthony embarked on their journey into wedded bliss. They embraced a vibrant color palette for an enchanting October celebration that elevated autumn aesthetics to new heights.
Natalie’s love for butterflies took center stage in the design theme, with faux monarch butterflies adorning floral arrangements, her bouquet, the wedding cake and the photo booth backdrop. Fluttering details and the vibrant hues of the orange and pink color palette infused the entire celebration with a touch of whimsy.
Natalie and Anthony’s outdoor ceremony took place on the seventhfloor courtyard at St. Regis, framed by towering floral arrangements on either side of the boxwood wall altar. Floral accents graced the center aisle, setting the stage for a sentimental ceremony. Natalie’s brother, Johnny, included a heartfelt touch by reciting a Colossians Bible verse in Lebanese, paying homage to Natalie’s grandparents from Lebanon who have passed on.
Transitioning to the grand ballroom for the reception, guests were treated to music from Radial Entertainment and immaculate vibes. The dance floor came alive with the vibrant glow of light-up colorful foam wands and guests fueled up on premium bar and menu offerings.
As the night drew to a close, Natalie and Anthony made a grand exit down the St. Regis’ main staircase, surrounded by the joyful shaking of white pom poms from guests. It was a perfect ending to a day filled with whimsy, love and unforgettable moments.

In a symphony of love and meaningful details, Justin and Caleb curated an extraordinary wedding at Ventanas, aptly themed “Our Forevermore.” Inspired by a song Caleb had commissioned for Justin, this theme wove a narrative that celebrated the couple’s journey and invited their loved ones into a joy-filled day.
The celebrations unfolded at Ventanas, a breathtaking venue offering indoor and outdoor spaces and floor-toceiling windows with panoramic views of Atlanta. So many thoughtful details elevated the experience, including the opportunity to play a welcome video on the elevator ride and a helipad for a slick rooftop send-off.
Although it was their special day, Justin and Caleb envisioned their wedding as an absolute party for their guests. They crafted a photo booth branded with the “Our Forevermore” theme, employing a team of photographers and videographers to capture guests’ cherished moments of the day. The couple went above and beyond by having a specialty photographer print guests’ photos onto branded magnets — a lasting memento destined to live on refrigerators and in hearts alike.
Every element resonated with their theme, from the wedding invitation to floral arrangements, décor and the overall mood. In fact, the couple worked with a designer to establish their color palette, fonts and messaging that would carry through to all their details. As co-founders of a social media marketing company, it made sense for Caleb and Justin to prioritize curation and identity!
From custom branding and guest experience to a sunset helicopter sendoff, Caleb and Justin’s celebration was truly magical and entirely them.

CHELSIA & MIGUEL
In a sea of warm, neutral tones, Chelsia and Miguel celebrated their union in a modern-romance wedding. From being each other’s first love to growing into adulthood together, their wedding at The Castle at Wildwood Gardens was a fairytale.
Chelsia and Miguel first met at 15 and soon became best friends. After dating for six years, they finally decided to tie the knot. Chelsia and Miguel come from diverse cultural backgrounds; Chelsia is Hmong, and her parents hail from Laos, while Miguel is Hispanic, and his parents immigrated from Mexico. For their wedding, they celebrated their differences while also highlighting their commonalities.
Choosing The Castle at Wildwood Gardens as their wedding venue was a serendipitous discovery. Introduced by their wedding planner, the couple instantly loved the venue’s beauty and old-style charm. Against the stunning backdrop of the castle garden, Chelsia and Miguel exchanged their wedding vows in an outdoor ceremony full of dusty rose flowers.
Following the ceremony, the couple celebrated with a reception featuring a fusion of Southeast Asian and Mexican cuisine. Both members of their church’s worship band, the couple brought that passion to their reception and serenaded each other under candlelight. Such a reception was complete with laughter, tears, surprises and the warm presence of family and friends.
As Chelsia and Miguel embarked on their journey as a married couple, they shared their love story with their guests and showed them how beautifully it has flourished. Their wedding reminds us that with care, love can create a fairytale that lasts a lifetime.

Starting your new life as a married couple comes with many exciting changes. One of the biggest changes is a new identity (so to speak). Let’s not make the assumption that everyone who gets married changes their last name. In fact, data analytics show that about 20-30% of women keep their maiden name after marriage. But that does leave 70-80% of newlyweds who do take their partner’s last name.
While the origins of taking your partner’s last name are admittedly outdated, the sentiment behind the practice remains. Many couples like having the same last name, as it makes them feel more unified. Other couples like the idea of creating a singular identity for when they plan to add children to their family. Others might just not like the sound of their maiden name! And every reason is perfectly valid and a good enough reason to take part in this age-old tradition.
While this administrative, post-wedding task isn’t as fun as opening gifts or getting your wedding photos back, it is important that you do it correctly. To ease this daunting task, we’ve compiled a guide on how to legally change your last name in the state of Georgia.
MRS. Who?
A
GUIDE TO CHANGING YOUR LAST NAME IN GEORGIA
PHOTOGRAPHY BY Izzy + Co. Photography
It should be noted that Georgia is one of the few states where, if you want to change your name after the wedding, you should list the new name on the marriage license. You’re not legally bound to take that name, but it gives you the option after you’ve tied the knot — and who doesn’t like options?
*Disclaimer: These requirements are subject to change from institution to institution. Please be sure to confirm with each sector.
MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE
The first step in legally changing your name is physically obtaining your marriage certificate. It’s important to note that your marriage certificate is not the same as your marriage license. Your marriage license serves as proof of eligibility to marry while the marriage certificate is the official documentation that your marriage occurred. So
before moving on to any namechange tasks, you’ll need your county clerk’s office certified marriage certificate. Typically, you’ll receive this two to four weeks after your wedding. Even if you don’t decide to change your name, having multiple certified copies of your marriage certificate is a good idea.
You can purchase certified copies in advance when you first apply for your marriage license. This is a good method, as you’ll already have it paid for and you can receive the certificate and certified copies all at the same time. Your official certificate and its copies are issued directly from the county and will have special seals that verify their authenticity. These embossed seals mean you can’t just make your own copy.
Not sure how many copies to order? Three to five is a good starting point, but don’t stress! If needed, you can simply order more copies down the road.
Cost: In Fulton County, certified copies of marriage records are $10 per copy.
SOCIAL SECURITY
Reporting the change to the Social Security Administration (SSA) is the gateway to the name change process. This step is required before changing your name on anything else. You can do this either by mail or in person, but there’s no way to complete the process online. Why is this the crucial first step? Your SSA record is linked to your identity in the eyes of every federal and state entity. To change your name on anything official, it needs to match up with your SSA record. To get started, there are three steps:
1. Ensure you have the following documents: one form of a valid photo ID, original or certified copy of your marriage certificate (no photocopies!) and proof of U.S. citizenship. For each document, you need to provide either the original document or a certified, government-issued copy.
2. Once your identification documents are in hand, print and fill out Form SS-5 (the application itself for a social security card). You can download the form from ssa.gov . Be sure to sign with your new name!
3. Lastly, submit your application. To do this, locate the closest SSA office by searching your ZIP code at ssa.gov
locator. Once you’ve found the most convenient location, you can either mail your application and documents to that SSA office or you can visit in person. We recommend doing this step in person to avoid mailing sensitive documents that you want to keep on hand (like your driver’s license).
Once these steps are complete, you’ll receive your new SSA card in the mail in 10-14 business days (along with your documents — if you mailed).
Cost: None
PASSPORT
If you don’t have a passport already, you can skip this step — or go ahead and apply for a passport for the first time. However, if you’re looking to update
your name on your existing passport, here’s what to do.
You’ll have to wait until your new Social Security card arrives before you can legally change the name on your passport. Once you have your SS card in hand, you can get a new passport, which will then allow you to change your name on your driver’s license or state ID.
You can either complete this process in person at a Passport Acceptance Facility (find a location at: iafdb.travel.state.gov ) or by mail.
Depending on how old your passport is, there will be a different application you’ll need to complete. All of these forms can be found at eforms.state.gov
• If your passport was issued more than a year ago, you’ll complete DS-82
• If your passport was issued less than a year ago, you’ll complete DS-5504
• If your passport has been expired for more than five years, you’ll complete DS-11
In addition to the application form, you will need to provide your current U.S. passport and a certified copy of your marriage certificate.
And of course, you’ll need an updated color photo for this application. If you’re applying in person, the facility can take your photo. But if you mail, you’ll need to follow the U.S. Department of State’s guidelines. You can take the photo yourself, but we recommend you get an official photo taken at a business like the UPS Store, Walgreens, CVS or Walmart. This will ensure the photo checks all the necessary boxes. Basic requirements can be found on the U.S. Department of State’s website.
Once all the required elements are mailed in, you will get your new passport in the mail. The timeline for this varies widely, depending on demand.
Cost:
$115 for a passport book and card
$100 for a passport book
$15 for a passport card
$0 for existing passports less than a year old
DRIVER’S LICENSE OR STATE ID
For this step, you will need to go in person to a Georgia Department of Driver Services (DDS) facility within 60 days of your legal name change. To save time, we recommend filling out the online application form (found at dds.drives.ga.gov ) before you go to a DDS Customer Service Center.
You’ll also need:
• Your marriage certificate or court order indicating the name change
• Proof of any other previous name changes, including divorce decrees
• Your current Georgia driver’s license or state ID
Cost: Up to $32
VEHICLE TITLE AND REGISTRATION
You can change the name on your Georgia title at your county tag office. Find an office near you at dor.georgia.gov/motor-vehicles
VOTER REGISTRATION
Changing your voter registration varies by county in the state of Georgia, so be sure to check your county’s government website for instructions on updating your voter registration.
BANK ACCOUNTS
Now that all of the government-related steps are complete, it’s time to change your name on personal accounts. First up, we recommend you change your name at your bank or credit union. In instances where businesses might ask for two forms of ID, your new license and a credit/debit card are often checked together, so you’ll want them to match!
To change the name on your account(s), most banks require you to visit a physical branch office with your photo ID and a certified copy of your marriage certificate. While doing this, you can request new debit cards or checks and get it all done at once.
However, if you don’t live near your bank branch or you use online banking, going to an office might not be possible. Each institution will have a variation of the in-person method. Call the customer support phone number on the back of your card to check and see what their process is.
PERSONAL ACCOUNTS
And lastly, it’s time to update everything else! This includes everything from your health insurance plan to your social media accounts.
After a few months you’ll probably still be finding accounts out there with your old name, and that’s OK! You’d be surprised just how many places have your name on file. No sweat, you can just change them as you come by them.
Common accounts to get you started include home mortgage or rental lease, utilities, mobile plan, internet, pharmacies, medical providers, professional certifications, investment accounts, loyalty programs (airlines, hotels, etc.) and social media accounts. ■

SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW ...
You’ve heard the old rhetoric, “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue,” but what does it mean? Let’s dive in. This proverb stems from English folklore and offers a recipe many couples believe to be the precursor to a successful marriage. The rhyme outlines four items you must carry or incorporate into your wedding day for good luck.
While the tradition behind the rhyme has evolved, many nearlyweds still choose to incorporate these four elements into their weddings to honor tradition and bring good luck to their marriages.
Something
Old
“Something old” represents continuity and a connection to the marrier’s past. By incorporating something old into their wedding attire, the marrier acknowledges and honors their heritage, family and the life they are leaving behind as they enter a new phase of life.
Examples: Heirloom Jewelry
Ceremony Readings Family Photographs Antique Getaway Car Historic Venue Vintage Dishes
678.708.3682
SomethingNew
“Something new” symbolizes optimism, hope and the couple’s future. It’s a token of good fortune for the newlyweds as they embark on their journey together. The “something new” is often seen as a representation of the couple’s new life and the prosperity that comes with it.
Examples: Bridal Gown Shoes
New Initials/Monogram
Perfume/Cologne
Hair Accessories
Something Borrowed
The tradition of “something borrowed” involves borrowing an item from a happily married couple, with the belief that the couple’s good fortune will be passed on to the new marriage. It’s a great way to incorporate the support and love of friends and family into the marriage.
Examples: Fashion Accessories
Family Handkerchief

Lavender Bliss
With a rustic and tranquil essence in mind, planner J. Ladson Weddings curated a charming vision in hues of lavender and lace. This styled shoot is a result of the collaborative efforts of The Wedding League, a collective of wedding professionals that host networking events, produce fabulous weddings and provide educational resources for couples. The team was captivated by the beauty of the property at Enon Ranch, with its bright natural light and picturesque landscapes. From the gorgeous horse stables to the rustic gazebo under clear blue skies, this vision embraced all the settings Enon Ranch provides for its couples.
From the planner...
“I had visions of couples running through fields, chasing love and celebrating a new life together. I wanted this Lavender Bliss styled shoot to capture everything this venue had to offer — and it did just that.”

Styled Shoot Showcase
Twilight Charm
You’re invited to step into a moody, romantic ambiance with this styled shoot at 1826 at Stowers Farm. Hosted by Beyond Planning Events, these images showcase the splendor of the historic estate while drawing inspiration from the Gucci Garden in Florence, Italy. As the sun set on the historic Stowers family property, a candlelit reception set-up illuminated the rich color palette of sangria, dusty peach and blackberry. From romantic portraits under the 187-year-old oak tree to the moody black cake from Zell’s Cottage Bakery, every detail celebrates the fusion of modern romance with timeless Southern heritage.
From the planner...

A HONEYMOONER ’S HANDBOOK
PHOTOGRAPHY BY The
Snells
nce upon a registry, two hearts became one, and the adventure of a lifetime was set to begin. Now that the whirlwind of wedding planning is behind you, it’s time to embark on your honeymoon! Honeymoons are a treasured tradition, allowing time for couples to relax, bond and soak up their new marital status. So beyond the obvious considerations — like location and duration — we’ve compiled a guide with essential travel suggestions. Transition from aisle to isles and make your honeymoon one for the ages!
GET LOGISTICS ORGANIZED
First things first, make sure you’re able to travel! Consider the logistics of your trip, like transportation to and from the destination, as well as any necessary visas or vaccinations.
While these logistics might not be the most thrilling aspects of honeymoon planning, addressing them early can significantly contribute to a hassle-free and enjoyable trip. Take care of the basics first, then enjoy creating unforgettable moments with your new spouse. Here are some practical things to consider:
• Travel Documents: Ensure you have all the necessary travel documents, including passports and visas. Check the expiration dates well in advance and renew if necessary.
• Flight Details: Double check your flight details, including
departure and arrival times, layovers and potential delays. Make copies of your tickets and keep them in a safe place.
• Transportation: Besides getting to your destination, plan transportation once on the ground. Consider how to get from the airport to your accommodation and how you will get around the duration of your trip. Research transportation options, such as rental cars, airport shuttles or public transportation, and book in advance if needed.
• Currency and Banking: Inform your bank about your travel dates and destination to avoid any issues with credit/ debit card transactions. Familiarize yourself with the local currency and exchange rates.
• Electronics and Adapters: Check the voltage requirements of your destination and bring the appropriate power adapters for your electronic devices. Ensure your chargers are compatible with local outlets.
Ivory and Grace
Sam Jasper Photography Ivory and Grace Ivory and Grace
• Pet Care: If you have pets, plan for their own (perhaps less exciting) getaway! Their care might involve hiring a pet sitter, boarding them or asking a friend or family member for assistance. Depending on the time of year, pet boarding facilities can book up quickly, so don’t delay!
TIP: If you or your partner are changing your last name upon marriage, plan accordingly. Either hold off on making the legal name change until after your honeymoon or don’t book your honeymoon travel details until your name is solidified. The name change process can take a while, and travel goes so much smoother when the name on your boarding pass matches your passport and banking info!
PACK PREPARED
When it comes to packing, hope for the best, but plan for the worst. From hurricanes to ice storms, weather can be unpredictable (as much as we cross our fingers and toes for smooth sailing). Check the weather forecast for your destination and pack accordingly. Don’t forget essentials like sunscreen, raincoats, weatherfriendly footwear or umbrellas. Even if the forecast doesn’t call for rain, it’s never a bad idea to at least pack a poncho.
Additionally, take health precautions into account. On top of your basic first aid kit and necessary medications, be sure to research additional health concerns, like water treatment practices or environmental allergens, and pack treatments accordingly.
From antacids and aloe vera to raincoats and a sun hat — the time on your honeymoon is precious and you won’t want a day wasted because you didn’t pack the right tools.
BALANCE ADVENTURE AND RELAXATION
You’ve just started this exciting new chapter and you might be in the mood to keep introducing new things into your life. And by all means so! Your honeymoon is a great time to try out new activities (surfing, skiing, hiking, oh my!), but don’t overdo it. Plan for
activities and excursions but, also downtime and relaxation together. Packing your days full of adventure will make the time pass so quickly — you’ll be back on the plane in a blink! Enjoy the thrill of new experiences and balance out that euphoria with the sweet serenity of marital bliss.
TAKE PERSONAL TIME
Yes, you’re excited to start your forever together but don’t feel like you’re obliged to spend every waking second together. Everyone needs some “me time!” Part of a healthy relationship is balance. For instance, if your partner wants to go zip-lining through a rainforest but you’re scared of heights — you don’t need to join them! Let each other enjoy everything your honeymoon destination has to offer, even if that means going solo. Just make sure you’re both on the same page when it comes to making separate plans.
DISCONNECT FOR QUALITY TIME
Phones down! Live in the moment and plan for periods without technology. Go in the hot tub, do sunrise yoga or take a local cuisine cooking class.
Smartphones are great for research, translation and photo-taking, but don’t let them control your trip. That being said — consider mobile phone roaming charges! Communicate travel details with your cell phone provider or purchase a local SIM card or international phone plan to avoid excessive charges.
START SPREADING THE NEWS
Don’t be shy — share the news that this is your honeymoon! You’d be surprised how many upgrades or special gifts you’ll receive once word gets around that this is a special trip. From flight check-in (hello seat upgrades) to tagging your resort on social media posts, drop the H-word and see what happens. Certainly don’t expect special treatment, but also don’t shy away from letting folks know. People love celebrating romance, so let them! You never know what exciting bonuses could come your way.
Considering all these factors, you’ll be well on your way to creating a honeymoon that sets the tone for a lifetime of beautiful memories together. Cheers to the beginning of your happily ever after! ■

REGISTRY
Roadmap
As the costs that come with planning a wedding add up, welcome to the reprieve that comes with making a wedding registry. Creating a wedding gift registry is one of the most fun parts of wedding planning and it costs you nothing. Now we’re talking!
Let your mind swirl with possibilities of splurge-worthy items you have always wanted but never pulled the trigger on purchasing yourself. We’re talking everything from the robin’s-egg-blue toaster of your dreams to a sumptuous towel warmer to turn your humble bathroom into a luxury spa.
But just like every other element of wedding planning, setting up your wedding registry comes with its fair share of etiquette. It might be your first time asking for these types of gifts and, admittedly, it can feel a bit awkward to compile a big wish list. So where do you start? From when to create a registry to what to include, let’s go over everything you need to know to create a thoughtful and well-curated wedding registry. Here are 14 things to keep in mind while setting up your wedding registry, plus a curated list of can’t-go-wrong gift options.
1
CREATE YOUR REGISTRY IN A TIMELY FASHION
As soon as you announce your engagement (or shortly after) get started on your wedding registry. If you’re planning for a long engagement, at least ensure that you have a registry shared four to seven months prior to your wedding date. The sooner you have a registry set up, the more time guests will have to browse and select gifts before the wedding. You might even line it up so guests can take advantage of seasonal deals and specials!
The most important deadline for when you should have a wedding registry complete is before any prewedding events (think engagement parties or wedding showers) where guests might want to bring a gift. People are going to want to bring you gifts, so you might as well make sure they are gifts you want.
2
REGISTER AT TWO TO THREE RETAILERS
When it comes to the number of places to register, keep things simple.
You won’t want to have guests sifting through a dozen different retailers to find the perfect gift! To get the right variety and optimal convenience for your guests, two to three retailers or online platforms is a sweet spot.
3
TAILOR INDIVIDUAL REGISTRIES
Since you’ll be registering at more than one spot, try not to repeat items from one registry to another. This risks receiving the same (or similar) item twice, and then you’ll have to go to the trouble of returning one and selecting another item with your store credit. We do recommend registering at multiple places, but be aware of what you’re including on each. It doesn’t hurt to do a cross check!
4
MAKE SURE GUESTS CAN EASILY FIND YOUR REGISTRIES
What good is a carefully curated registry when guests can’t find it? While this might seem obvious, it’s still important to note. You’re juggling a lot of moving parts right now and this is
For ease of findability, include a link to your registry on your wedding website. If you opt to not have a wedding website, include a written URL on your physical invitation. Many websites will be able to provide shortened URLs to keep your invitation from looking too wordy. Alternatively, use a service like Bitly, TinyUrl or Rebrandly to create a shortened URL.
5
DON’T NOT REGISTER
“But what if I don’t want anything?” We get it! You might be downsizing while preparing for a move, embarking on a minimalistic lifestyle or just plain feel like you already have everything you need. Whatever the reason, it is perfectly acceptable to not want to create a traditional registry. But that doesn’t mean you should forgo a registry altogether. People will want to give you gifts, don’t leave them guessing!
Instead, you can kindly request monetary contributions towards specific goals (like a honeymoon or a down payment) or to a charitable cause dear to you. Alternatively, you can register for a number of experiences, like a romantic dinner or concert tickets. Rather than simply requesting cash, be transparent and clear about how the funds will be used. To be even more tactful, include a preface on your registry or wedding website that explains your preference for nontangible gifts.
No matter what the registry is for, having one allows your loved ones to pick out a gift you’ll actually want — which is what everyone involved wants!
6
OFFER A RANGE OF PRICE POINTS
When curating your wedding registry, include a variety of price ranges to accommodate all guests. It is easy to get carried away and load up your registry with luxury goodies, but be sure to include a range of prices to ensure no guest feels ostracized or pressured to spend outside their means. A good rule of thumb is to include items that range from affordable to moderately priced, as well as a few special higher-
end items. This is one of the few times where you’ll be able (and expected!) to ask for specific gifts and you don’t want to go too far. People love giving gifts to honor important events and you want to contribute to a positive gifting experience for everyone.
7
INCLUDE WHATEVER YOU WANT!
It’s helpful to register at retailers that offer a wide range of items, from housewares to electronics to sporting goods. However, don’t be afraid to tailor your registry spots to retailers that match your personality. Wedding registries don’t have to be a one-sizefits all ordeal. Love supporting small businesses? Register on Etsy. Are you and your partner always embarking on a new adventure? REI’s registry could be a good fit. Have fun and register for what fits your lifestyle best! While nowadays many registries can be completed online, don’t overlook the fun of compiling your wedding registry in-person. Make a fun date out of it and head to a retailer. Armed with a barcode scanner, wield the power to make all your gifting dreams come true.
8
THINK ABOUT LONGEVITY AND THE MEMORIES
People love giving gifts that they know you’ll cherish for a long time. So be sure to consider longevity when adding to your registry. One of the most special parts of gift giving and receiving is the tie you’ll have between the gifter. Anytime you prepare some hot tea with the electric kettle, you’ll think of your dear college roommate who gifted it to you. By asking for long-lasting gifts, you’re giving yourself the present of sweet memories with loved ones.
9
ALLOW GUESTS TO BE SENTIMENTAL
Oftentimes, your guests will want their gift to pay special tribute to your big day. This means a personalized gift with your name, initials or wedding date. Be sure to include a few customizable options on your registry so that your sentimental friends and family have that option. And, more importantly, the
options you provide will be something you actually want! There’s a certain guilt that comes with receiving a heartfelt personalized gift that you frankly just don’t see yourself using or displaying. Examples of customizable items include coasters, linens, drinkware, picture frames, return address stamps and luggage. So many things can be embroidered or etched!
... BUT DON’T INCLUDE EVERYTHING
While it’s essential to create a wellrounded registry, there are a few things that etiquette suggests you avoid. For starters, steer clear from adding too many pricey or extravagant items. It’s ok to have some, but too many will come off as too covetous. Additionally, avoid items that are too personal, like clothing, jewelry, intimates or anything that’s geared towards one individual rather than your life together as a couple.
DOUBLE YOUR GUESTS
When it comes to how many items
should be in your registry, a good rule of thumb is to double your guest list. For example, if you’re inviting 100 people, your registry should include around 200 gifting options. This range allows for guests to have plenty of options, while also not risking everything being already fulfilled for the last-minute shoppers.
DON’T WASTE THE GIFTING OPPORTUNITY
If there are “typical” wedding registry items that you don’t really need, don’t feel you have to include them. Yes, you’ll be registering for quite a number of items, but choose wisely. You don’t need to add everything just for the sake of it. For example, if you’re satisfied with your current towel set, no need to register for more.
UPDATE FREQUENTLY
With how quickly retailers go through their inventory, items will sell out or otherwise become unavailable. To make sure your guests aren’t opening up a
registry of mostly unavailable items, be sure to check in on your registries at least once a month to ensure they are up to date. Typically, retailers will have a replacement item that can be an easy switch.
DON’T PUT OFF THE THANK YOU NOTES
When we talk about registries, we have to bring up thank-you notes, don’t we? While the traditional gift table at receptions is still widely loved, many people now opt to ship — either a month before or after the wedding day. Our pro tip here is to write each thankyou note as soon as you receive the present. Doing so will ensure a prompt reply and keep the notes sounding authentic. Writing these letters as you receive the gifts will prevent you from batching them all at once — talk about hand cramps!
Keep everything organized so no one slips through the cracks — whether that means a digital spreadsheet or a handwritten notebook documenting the gift and who it came from. ■

OH ME, EAU MY
Amidst the glimmer of heirloom jewels and your face-framing lace veil, the perfume you adorn yourself with becomes an essential part of curating your wedding-day aura. Fragrance has a remarkable ability to stir emotions, evoke memories and enhance your overall experience. Join us on a fragrant journey as we explore the various scent profiles and their significance in the context of your special day.
FRAGRANCE NOTES
Floral
Floral fragrances have always held a special place in the realm of wedding perfumes, embodying the essence of romance, femininity and elegance. They capture the essence of blooming flowers, evoking the whiff of a bouquet and bringing forth a sense of freshness and beauty. Jasmine, rose, lily of the valley and peony are popular floral
notes found in perfumes. These scents can evoke feelings of love, joy and grace, making them an ideal choice for brides seeking a romantic ambiance on their wedding day.
Citrus and Fruity
If you want a fragrance that exudes energy, vibrancy and zest, consider citrus or fruity scents. Notes of orange, lemon, grapefruit and mandarin create a lively
and invigorating atmosphere, perfect for a summer or waterfront wedding. These fragrances can uplift the spirit and feel like a zesty cocktail on a warm day. The invigorating notes of citrus fruits and succulent berries infuse your wedding day with a delightful splash of freshness and a playful spirit. Citrus scents are also known to enhance focus and uplift mood, which makes them perfect for calming pre-wedding jitters and ensuring a vibrant start to your new chapter.
Cozy and Warm
Cozy and warm fragrances evoke a sense of comfort and familiarity, enveloping you in a tender embrace. Like a soft and cozy blanket on a chilly evening, these scents create an ambiance of warmth and intimacy. They exude a sense of sweetness and invoke cherished memories, making them a perfect choice for wedding perfumes. These fragrances often feature notes such as vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, amber and nutmeg. When wearing a warm fragrance on your wedding day, the sweet and inviting aroma can create an atmosphere of togetherness and make you, your partner and your guests feel at ease.
Musky and Spicy
For a more mysterious and seductive scent, musky and spicy fragrances are an excellent choice. Composed of exotic notes like amber, patchouli and incense, they evoke a sense of sensuality and intrigue. These resinous scents leave a lasting impression and can add a touch of depth and allure to your wedding day persona. Ideal for evening weddings, black-tie affairs or occasions where you want to leave an indelible mark, these fragrances will create an air of mystique around you.
Woody and Earthy
Woody and earthy scents bring a touch of natural elegance and sophistication to your wedding day. Composed of notes like sandalwood, vetiver and cedar, they evoke a sense of grounding and stability. The earthy elements also help to calm the nerves and instill a sense of tranquility on your big day. These fragrances have a timeless quality and can create a refined
ambiance, perfect for a traditional or rustic-themed wedding.
Fresh and Clean
If you prefer a minimalist and clean scent, light and fresh fragrances are an ideal choice. These scents often incorporate notes like bergamot, aquatic accords and green leaves, creating an aura of purity and serenity. Fresh fragrances are perfect for outdoor weddings or those seeking a light and breezy atmosphere. They offer a sense of freshness and clarity,
MAKE IT LAST
• Fragrance lasts longer on hydrated skin. Apply your perfume post-shower or after applying unscented moisturizer.
• Scents blossom when warm, so spray or dab your fragrance on your pulse points. Areas to focus on are your wrists, nape of the neck, behind ears, inside elbows and even the creases behind knees! As those parts of your body warm up, the perfume will react and emit scent throughout the day.
• Sensitive skin? No problem! Perfume also holds well in your hair. Let your signature scent radiate from your head by spraying a bit of your fragrance onto a brush before running it through your hair.
• Even the finest perfumes work best when reapplied. Keep a mini atomizer of your chosen scent on hand for a postceremony pick-me-up.
• You’ve found your perfect scent, so make sure you preserve it properly! Keep your perfume fresh and potent by storing it in a cool, dry place. For best results, keep the bottle away from sunny windowsills or humid bathroom counters.
making them a popular choice for spring and summer weddings.
YOUR VERY OWN SCENT
Different skin types and pH levels can cause scents to react uniquely, so don’t solely rely on how a perfume smells out of the bottle or on someone else. What might be delightful on a friend might have a different aroma on your skin. Take the opportunity to test and experience various fragrances on yourself. Fortunately, many beauty retailers provide travel-sized fragrances
or free samples, allowing you to do some trial runs with the scents. This way, you can truly discover how each fragrance interacts with your body chemistry before committing to a particular one.
As you select your wedding fragrance, consider the personality and style you wish to convey, as well as the season and theme of your wedding. On your wedding day, the scent you choose will become a part of your everlasting memory, forever associated with the joy, love and happiness that filled the air. ■

GIVE LOVE WEDDING
GIVE LOVE A Dream Wedding Giveaway for Lizuait & Benjamin
In a world filled with uncertainties, love remains a constant — a beacon of hope and resilience. This is why Give Love Wedding offers a dream wedding valued at over $100,000 to a deserving couple every year.
Loved ones are invited to nominate couples who embody strength, resilience and unwavering love. Nominees often include couples battling life-threatening diseases, serving as first responders or veterans, living with disabilities, or overcoming significant obstacles.
“We believe in celebrating love by giving back to those who truly deserve it most,” says Karson Coker, owner of Meadows at Mossy Creek and host of Give Love Wedding.
This once-in-a-lifetime opportunity promises to make a deserving couple’s big day absolutely unforgettable. In 2023, Give Love Wedding selected Lizuait and Benjamin as the winners of their wedding giveaway. Here is their story:
LIZUAIT & BENJAMIN
Lizuait (“Liz”) has always been a beacon of light to those around her. However, in 2017, life threw her a curveball. After experiencing severe health issues, Liz was diagnosed with stage 4 severe chronic rheumatoid arthritis. This diagnosis transformed her life, making simple tasks a daily struggle and forcing her to adapt to a new reality.
Two years later, Liz met Benjamin (“Ben”) at a work function. Their connection was instant, quickly growing
into a close friendship. Ben looked beyond Liz’s condition, educated himself about her illness and dedicated himself to supporting her through every challenge. Their relationship blossomed, and Ben’s support became invaluable to both Liz and her family.
In July 2020, Liz and Ben began planning their wedding. Unfortunately, Liz’s father passed away from COVID19 in late October 2021, halting their plans. They redirected their wedding savings to ensure her father received a proper burial. The loss took a toll
on Liz’s health, leading to one of the worst flare-ups of her condition. She had to use a wheelchair for a period and eventually left her job of 12 years to focus on her health and new treatments. Despite these setbacks, Liz and Ben’s love remained strong.
Recognizing their incredible journey, Liz’s sister nominated the couple for the Give Love Wedding
giveaway, believing they truly deserved this special opportunity.
Thanks to Give Love Wedding and a team of amazing vendors, Liz and Ben celebrated their dream wedding on August 13, 2023. The day was adorned in sage green and marigold hues, featuring special touches like custom “The Newlywed Post” newspapers, a live wedding painter, a vintage photo booth camper, a coffee and gelato cart and a reception dress change for Liz.
Life has a way of testing our strength, but also surprises us with moments of grace and love. For Liz and Ben, the gift of this wedding certainly was something they’ll never forget. ■

LA-NIKQUA TRENAÉ & MARK
La-Nikqua Trenaé (“Trenaé”) and Mark’s love story is about as sweet and romantic as it gets. The two met when they were six years old in Pontiac, Michigan. Mark lived there, and Trenaé would visit her grandparents there every summer. With neighboring grandparents, they spent their 7-14 playing kickball, riding bikes and having fun together. They even had a “wedding” in her grandparents’ front yard one summer, complete with a Ring Pop proposal. They lost touch as they grew up, but nearly two decades later, their paths crossed again and they picked up right where they had left off.
While first dreaming of a destination wedding, the couple decided an Atlanta celebration would be more convenient for older guests. To still achieve a destination ambiance, the couple opted for an upbeat wedding with vibrant colors and a tropical feel. When their wedding planner, The Sharp Standard, pitched a color palette that included chartreuse and yellow as the primary colors, they loved the uniqueness and were on board.
After Mark’s father passed away in the spring of 2023, the couple decided to make their wedding day even more of a celebration in honor of him. From the graceful “flowerina,” sensational solo saxophonist, stellar live band and a cigar rolling station, their guests created memories that will last a lifetime. The whole day was high energy, and the love and happiness felt by all was palpable. As an unexpected surprise, millions caught a glimpse of their special day when Trenaé’s father’s wedding toast went viral, acquiring more than 12 million views on social media.
From the bold color palette to the cocktail hour jazz concert, Dr. and Mr. Jones’ wedding was truly an experience to behold.

MAISON & JOSH
Imagine merging the allure of Hollywood glam with the enchanting atmosphere of a romantic vineyard dinner party, and you’ll be placed in the iconic scenery of Maison and Josh’s autumn wedding.
Both Maison and Josh are visionaries in different ways, which certainly helped them nail the theme for their wedding. Maison is a commercial interior designer with a focus on hospitality spaces. On the flip side, Josh is both a lawyer and film producer — currently working on a project starring Al Pacino, set to release in late 2024. Such a unique couple was bound to create an exceptional wedding, and they did just that!
The couple searched high and low for a location that could live up to their expectations and fit the vision of their romantic, family-centric wedding. After much consideration, they found their match in Montaluce Winery & Restaurant. The venue’s ambiance, stunning panoramic views and the picturesque fall foliage in the vineyards, pond and mountainscapes all contributed to the dreaminess of their day.
Maison and Josh’s wedding day unfolded with many family-focused details, bringing appreciation to all their loved ones who molded them as individuals. Some examples of this include their black-and-white family photographs, wine cork sign-in frame and Maison’s mother’s heart-shaped cut-out from her wedding dress—which Maison pinned to her own gown before the ceremony in a beautiful private moment with her mother.
As the sun set over the vineyards, celebrations continued inside the restaurant. From the warm and natural setting to the sweet grins on the couple’s faces, this elegant wedding epitomizes a timeless and cinematic love story.

ALEX & ELLIOTT
Alex and Elliott’s love story began at Georgia Tech’s EXCEL Program. Before they officially met, Elliott recalls often seeing Alex walk around campus. Due to her petite stature, she always ended up in the back of groups. Elliott remembers thinking it would be nice if someone were patient enough to walk beside her, and sure enough, that person would soon be him. After three years of dinner dates, family vacations and never running out of things to talk about, Elliott proposed to Alex at the scenic Atlanta Botanical Garden.
When it came to their big day, Alex dreamt of a princess wedding — and a princess wedding she had! With the help of Simply IrresisTIBBLE Weddings and Events, a playful and charming wedding unfolded for Alex and Elliott. A fairytale wedding calls for a magical venue and The Georgian Ballroom at The Biltmore Ballrooms achieved that charming ambiance perfectly.
The couple’s ceremony was a sight to behold, set beneath a one-of-a-kind pink floral structure. This stunning piece not only served as the focal point of the ceremony, but also transformed into a secret garden, framing the couple at their reception sweetheart table.
The reception was filled with delicious food, signature cocktails and lively music. Since Alex loves dancing, Jammin DJs ensured the dance floor was the place to be. At the end of the party, the couple walked through a tunnel of their friends and family, surrounded by bubbles and cold sparklers. Amidst all the love and well wishes, the sound of horses’ hooves could be heard approaching. With beaming smiles, Alex and Elliott were greeted by a Cinderella carriage, which whisked them away into their happily ever after.

EVA & KYLE
Eva and Kyle’s love story began at Ohio State University, where they hit it off, bonding over a love of music. Ten years later, they are still jamming together — playing guitars, piano, drums, you name it. Including their beloved cat, Boba, Eva proclaims, “We’re this happy, musicloving trio, and life’s just a big, awesome melody we’re still composing together.”
For their wedding day, the couple imagined a cozy vibe, something intimate where their family and friends could kick back and genuinely enjoy celebrating their union. The bride’s dream of a wedding that felt like an escape to the south of France or a European vacation was beautifully realized at the Callanwolde Fine Arts Center, with its lush gardens, historic architecture and elegant interior furnishings.
Since the wedding was held in early fall, the garden grounds were still thriving, the weather was just right and the warm lighting couldn’t have been more perfect. Leaning into the European ambiance, they opted for flowers in hues of lilac, soft peach and buttercream. The dreamy blend of colors helped transport guests to a destination far away from bustling Atlanta.
The couple went above and beyond to ensure their guests had a memorable experience. They organized various activities, including a live musical quartet, games to spark friendly competition, a painting station for the artistically inclined and a Polaroid area for the guest book. These thoughtful additions not only added to the fun but also created lasting memories for all.
Surrounded by the idyllic scenery and dancing the night away, Eva and Kyle’s October wedding embodied what true romance feels like.

NIKKI & JACKSON
Every detail of Nikki and Jackson’s stylish wedding, from incorporating their beloved dogs, to selecting a Savannah venue with historical charm, captured their special love amidst the beauty of the First City.
Enamored by its picturesque streets and Southern charm, Atlanta residents Nikki and Jackson opted for a Savannah wedding. After a ceremony at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, the couple’s reception took place at The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa. They loved that the Westin treated their guests to iconic Savannah scenery, like views of historic buildings and cargo boats gently passing by.
Within the historic setting of Savannah, Nikki and Jackson brought a whimsical garden vision to life. From the archway adorned with roses and hydrangeas to the table centerpieces bursting with red, pink and orange blooms, the playful decor set the stage for a celebration that felt like stepping into an enchanted fantasy.
Nikki and Jackson’s dogs, Peanut and Skylar, are an integral part of their lives, so it was only natural to include them on their wedding day. Peanut and Skylar mingled with guests during cocktail hour, their wagging tails adding to the joyous atmosphere. The couple even included signature drinks with custom labels featuring the pups’ adorable faces.
Nikki and Jackson’s wedding was beautifully curated, blending their love for their dogs, passion for vibrant and whimsical settings, appreciation for historical charm and flair for fashion. As the sun set over the Savannah riverfront and the night blossomed into a dance party, it was clear that this wedding was truly a dream come true.
