Jean-Michel Basquiat, Untitled, 1982.
Whistles have an inspiration journal, upon which they not only upload music playlists and trend ‘obsessions’ but also information on current exhibitions. Most recently they posted about the Jean-Michel Basquiat exhibition at Henri Mattise, Panel with Mask, 1947. the Barbican and not long before they posted about the RA exhibition on Henri Matisse. These current resurgences of artists have an impact on the fashion industry, not only directly through print- such as Andy Warhol in Prada’s most recent SS18 catwalk. But also through colour which is most likely how the trend will trickle down to Whistles.
