Womens focused sexual assault center

01 Indvidual Capstone Project

This is my senior capstone project. We got to choose a scope of work that would improve people’s lives through our design. I chose to do a women’s focused sexual assault center based in Anchorage, Alaska. Alaska has the highest rape rate in the United Sates and they experience two phenomena’s called Polar Night and Midnight Sun. This can have many negative effects on mental and physical health specifically the circadian rhythm which is your internal clock. This is where I came up with the name for the center, Circa Diem; the term circadian rhythm stems from the Latin words circa diem which means around a day. My concept for the space is orbital reveal. Orbital because it ties back to healing around a day and the cycle of the circadian rhythm. The word reveal was chosen for the process that these women will go through in this center, revealing their emotions and experiences. Skills Used

BOROUGH RESTAURANT

02 Partner Project

Junior studio spring semester was split into two projects. The first project was a partner restaurant project. We got too chose from a list of local restaurants; my partner and I chose the Borough in the north loop of Minneapolis. We dove into their branding and food dishes. From there we researched a particular dish called “agnolotti” on their menu. All the ingredients had two things in common, you could cut into them and when you did the ingredients showed and ombre effect. Then we created our concept for space, structure and finish palette based on that.

ludlow Hotel

03 Partner Project

This hotel Project was a partner project. We were given a list of hotels and we picked the Ludlow hotel that is based in New York. We had to design a public space area of a hotel, a king suite and a double double suite. This project was connected to our restaurant project; therefore we had the same location and the restaurant floor plan connected. This project was all big picture concept based, as it would be for a request for proposal. My partner and I took inspiration from the Chicago River when creating this design; it fueled our, concept (reversed indent), color palette and design choices.

Digestive Healthcare

04 Indvidual Project

Blue Sky Care A well balanced space utilizing functional and visual methods. Incorporating the Arizona landscape to inspire comfort and relaxation.

IIDA holds a Student Design Competition every year. For junior fall semester we were given the Student Design Competition as our studio project. The design problem given was “A physician’s group that specializes in gastroenterology will be constructing a 12,540-square-foot digestive health clinic within a new medical office building (MOB) in Scottsdale, Arizona. This clinic will specialize in preventing, diagnosing, and treating digestive and liver disorders such as celiac disease, Crohn’s disease, acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome, hepatitis, and cirrhosis. The clinic goal is to advance the delivery of care for patients suffering from all digestive health conditions” We had to use 50% OFS and Caroline products and include ADA and HIPPA guidelines.
