We’ve Missed You!
Welcome Back! Chapel Hill is beginning to feel likes its former self and all of the things we’ve come to love about the area are opening back up. The return to a new school year is already drawing folks to the University and students are back. Restaurants and bars are open, buzzing with students, visitors, and townies.
some THINGS are different. Some THINGS haven’t changed. It’s a return to what we think of as “normal” around here – picnics beneath the Carolina blue sky, dinners with family, football and basketball games just around the corner. Our fare-free buses are filling up with vaccinated riders. Even on the warmer days there’s a cooling breeze, and as the sun filters down through the majestic greenery of the oaks and elms and pines, a sense of the world healing accompanies the sound of laughter and camaraderie. There’s always been something special about this place — down to its very cobbled bricks— and this remains true even after this challenging year.
As things are returning to our Carolina version of life, you will be welcomed with a few new things to experience on your visit: • Wonderful new murals and public art all around Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Hillsborough. • A host of delightful new eateries and pubs. • Renovated and updated attractions that every member of the family will enjoy. • New hotels to explore with distinctive ambiance sure to enhance and embellish your stay.
Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Hillsborough are emerging from this past year bigger and better, and, yes...it was worth waiting for! CHAPEL HILL /ORANGE COUNTY VISITORS BUREAU 501 W. TRAILS, PARKS & BIKE PATHS
Orange County offers so many outdoor recreation opportunities from dozens of parks to numerous sports opportunities. Try a round of Golf or a game of Disc Golf, Pickleball or Tennis. Parks and recreation offices are a great resource.
Anytime is the perfect time to get outside and hike any one of the miles of urban greenways and trails in our communities. The greenways are dotted with public art and murals and include both natural surface trails and paved trails for hiking and biking. In Chapel Hill walk the Bolin Creek or Morgan Creek Trails and in Hillsborough hike the Riverwalk or climb the Occoneechee Mountain State Natural Area.
